Ghostface:

You were the only one left. Meg was moried for looping Ghostface for too long and it pissed the killer off. Steve sacrificed himself to save you, since he was already injured and pushed you to run away while he got the killer's attention. Élodie finished the third generator before getting caught, and at that moment the only other survivour was you, who was getting chased by the Ghostface.

You got injured, but got away quick enough to heal yourself, hearing the entity finishing off poor Élodie on the other side of the map. You felt bad, since you could've saved her if it weren't for the killer lurking around the corner of the police station.

You huffed as you finished bandaging your arm and slowly started walking down the dark hallway, not making any sound in case Ghostface was near.

But luck wasn't on your side of course, since he appeared out of nowhere in front of you from the other room and you, by sheer luck got ahold of his shoulders and slammed him against the wall next to you, pinning him there.

You were shocked, as well as him, but to confuse him even further, you pulled his mask up to his nose and kissed him, while putting your whole body weight on him.

He dropped his knife in shock and just stood there, frozen in place. He didn't have enough time to react properly.

The kiss ended a few seconds later and you were gone, running down the hallway, to the main entrance, luckily finding the hatch there, making your escape easier than you thought ever was possible.

Even when you got back you brushed your fingertips against your lips, remembering Ghostface's taste. It was sweet and had an undertone of smoke. He's a smoker, but loves sweets, especially caramel.

The next time you met him, let it be trial or not, he gave you the same treatment, making the kiss last longer with lingering touches of his fingertips brushing down your spine, holding your face and touching your hips.

What was between the two of you was never talked about, but it was obvious for anyone that it was more than a game of cat and mouse.

The Legion, Frank:

One of the gate was already open, Yoichi got injured, but escaped.

Yui out ran the killer and got out as well and Feng was sacrificed already. Poor girl was trying to heal herself, since she had a medkit but made the mistake of making a noise, which alerted the killer.

That left you running from the Legion, trying desperately to get to the gate or at least find the hatch.

Another ding rang around the whole map, signalling the timer going even lower now and that the enitity is waiting to strike you and punish you for not escaping.

You felt it only once, but it was enough to not want to go through it again.

You jumped through a window, falling down from the second floor, making your landing more painful and slowing you down for a few second, which gave enough time for the Legion to catch up.

He walked toward you with such a cocky confidence that it irritated you. But, you got an idea, which made you seem scared, but actually tensing your muscles to get ready and wait for him to get close enough.

When he did, you grabbed him by the front if his hoodie and slammed him against the hay behind him, making him grunt in surprise.

You yanked his mask down from his face, not even giving him a moment to realize what was going on and you kissed him with so much force his knees buckled, you grip on him the only thing keeping him from falling on the ground.

You heared a whimper from him, but you were too focussed to truely do anything about it, or really realize what he just did.

You heard his weapon slip from his hand and that was the moment you pulled away and ran to the gate that was just a few metres away.

You made it out right before the timer went off, leaving Frank alone while he slowly slid down to sit on the ground and stare before himself in shock while panting and blinking like an idiot.

After he caught up about the whole situation, he had a little grin on his face and touched his lips, still tasting you on them.

He decided to wait for the next time he sees you again to give you a rougher treatment, as a thanks for making him realize something about himself.

Even if that something was a thing he swore he hated. Getting himself slammed against something solid was a new and exciting thing he wanted to explore with only you.

Michael Myers:

The two of you were staring at each other. Neither of you moving an inch, while making sure to note any tiny movement the other was making.

The others were dead already, only three gens done, which was a miracle when the trial was with Michael. With him, every single time only one gen was done, he somehow alway knew where everyone was and what they were doing. He finished everyone off with such quickness that even the Entity couldn't influence his perfect efficency.

Until today.

He was angry, it was obvious from the louder-than-usual huffs he was letting out, his shoulders more tense, his grip on his knife made his knuckles even whiter than his already pale skin was.

Something happened to him and you were the last one left, which meant torture until he was satisfied, not letting the Entity interviene.

Not like she ever did, but that's besides the point.

You held your flashlight, breathing as slowly as you could to try and react in time to at least give the impression that you were trying to run away.

You took a step behind you, there was a window, but even if you could just jump out, he would catch up and most likely make you suffering even more painful.

But you had an idea that Feng talked about jokingly. That is a video she saw where there was a girl running from a killer in a haunted house. But she turned around and slammed the masked killer against the wall, pulled his mask up and kissed him. Which made the killer stunned enough for her to run away.

You knew the element of surprise was everything, but Michael was stronger than a normal human, even stronger in trial. But you had to give it a try, for your escape at least or to gain time to locate the hatch.

You moved fast, jumped out quickly and dropped down, making you grunt but step away, seeing the killer climb out and drop down next to you.

You grabbed the giant man by his arms and with your full body weight, you slammed him against the wall behind him, his knees were bent, which gave you enough room to quickly as you could, pull his mask up and slam your lips against his.

Michael tensed up, his right arm shook with the amount of force be was gripping the knife, but he didn't move.

He was like a statue, too still to be human, but the surprise was enough for you to push him to the wall while you pulled away and ran as fast as you could.

You found the hatch without meeting him again.

You were the first person ever to escape the Shape.

Surprising everyone, being asked questions about the "how" and "why". You didn't explain, you couldn't.

And after that, whenever you had a trial with the Shape, you never saw him, but felt his gaze on you and you were always let go.

Why?...You never really got an answer, but on one part you were glad, and on the other you were embarrassed, since you knew exactly why he never approached you again.

What you didn't know is you became more of an obsession to him than Laurie, but a different kind.

A more possessive and dangerous kind.

harry jerome

Harry Jerome continuously met and raised the standard for short distance dashes during an unusually long sprint career in the 1960s. He equaled or established numerous Canadian sprint records, as well as several world records, including in the 100-metre, 100-yard, 60-yard and 4x110-yard relay disciplines. He was the first sprinter to (co-)hold the world record in both the 100-yard and 100-metre distances and was on a short list of the fastest men in the world for the better part of the decade. As one of a few athletes who embodied Canadian track and field during the 1960s, Jerome converted his iconic status into important contributions to the development and promotion of amateur sport and fitness in Canada through the 1970s and early 1980s. His determination and perseverance have served as a point of pride for African Canadians and an inspiration for all Canadians.

Harry Jerome was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, on 30 September 1940, but his family moved first to Winnipeg and then to North Vancouver in late 1952. Jerome was an avid athlete, excelling at football, hockey, and baseball. His high school track and field coach, however, convinced Jerome that his future lay in sprinting. Jerome competed for Canada at the Olympic Games in 1960, 1964 and 1968, at the British Empire (Commonwealth) Games in 1962 and 1966, and at the Pan American Games in 1959 and 1967. Unfortunately, two major injuries hampered Jerome when he was on the world stage early in his amateur career. Jerome persevered through the injuries, returning to elite sprinting in 1964 as strong, or stronger, than ever. He reached the 100-metre podium at each year’s major international track meet between 1964 and 1967 inclusive, winning two bronze and two gold medals along the way.

Jerome retired from high-performance athletic competition after the 1968 Olympics. He then joined the federal government’s Fitness and Amateur Sport Directorate (today, Sport Canada). Jerome subsequently designed and directed British Columbia’s Premier’s Sport Award Program, which is considered by many to be his greatest legacy. This program still provides teaching material, clinics and awards to upgrade the quality of physical education. More than one million children have received merit badges under this program.

Jerome died suddenly of a brain aneurysm on 7 December 1982. His inspirational career led to numerous honours during his lifetime, and posthumously.

Blogpost #1: Analyzing the Trope of ‘World Domination’ Narratives Through the Lens of Binary Oppositions

Through this blogpost, I would like to analyze the narrative of world domination, a very common trope employed in popular media and how they go hand in hand with Claude Levi Strauss’ theory of binary oppositions. For this, I will be looking at the Planet of the Apes franchise, the Marvel Avengers franchise, Plague Inc (a mobile game by Ndemic creations) and finally Risk (a game by Hasbro). I will be examining the various binary oppositions in each of these games and attempt to see if there is an overarching one amongst them.

When it comes to the trope of world domination, most narratives have a central character often followed by a group of people or a completely third party entity often in a non-human form such and aliens or divine beings. More often than not these characters are motivated to achieve world domination or domination over the other party due to reasons such as personal gain, revenge or even ideas that emphasize the rightful existence of one party over the other. Broadly speaking, these ideas are often polar just like the Strauss suggests such as good and bad, right and wrong, order and chaos etc. (The Media Insider, 2021). Now I would like to look at the movies and games and analyze them individually.

Planet of The Apes Franchise

In the planet of the apes, there are multiple binary oppositions in play. One of the first instances of binary oppositions we see is morality versus immorality when Will Rodman and Robert Franklin refuse to take the life of the baby chimpanzee later knows as Caesar after being ordered to do so by their superior. As the franchise progresses, we see two very polar sides i.e. the apes who are fighting for their freedom after all the abuse that they have been through and the humans who are the ones trying to regain control of the apes. We also see the spread of the Simian virus that wipes out about 90% of the human population. This can also be seen as a third party opposing humanity (science versus nature) while the overarching theme being apes versus the humans. Further down the line, there is a binary opposition in the form of peace versus war when Caesar who wants to co-exist with humans is opposed by his counterparts who want war and the take over the humans.

Plague Inc

Plague Inc is a strategy game created by Ndemic Creations where the aim of the player is to infect the world with a deadly virus and exterminate all humans. The overarching binary opposition would be good versus evil where the player is the evil one while the world governments and organizations such as WHO work towards finding a sure for the disease that you create. As you play the game some more subtle oppositions come up such as order versus anarchy where when the disease or virus causes governments to fall, humans start rioting causing chaos. Here, anarchy feeds into the evil making it stronger.

The Marvel Avengers Franchise

The Marvel Avengers franchise is one of the highest grossing franchises in history due to its widely loved characters and the story it brings to us. The avengers preach ideals such as justice and peace and are seen and shown as the good guys always fighting to prevail over the evil that manifests as villains such as Loki, Ultron, Thanos, etc. Throwing some light on Thanos, he is shown as an evil enitity who is on a quest to eradicate half of the worlds population as he believes that it would solve issues such as hunger and poverty. However this is opposed by the avengers who do not agree with his ways of doing so. In Infinity Wars, when the Guardians meet the Avengers for the first time, we are greeted with a fight scene where eventually both parties realize that they are both fighting against Thanos. However, their goals are different as Starlord is fighting to rescue his girlfriend (which is some way can be seen as fighting for personal reason) where as the avengers are fighting for the safety of Earth. However, these two parties end up combining their efforts under one unified cause, an example of two binary oppositions merging into one i.e. for greater good of mankind.

Risk

Risk is a strategy game by Hasbro where the goal of the player is to achieve world domination by defeating their enemies and forming alliances with other players. However these alliances do not last as eventually there is only one victor. The narrative here is quite lacking in terms of a complete structure but the game seems to be inspired by history as there are multiple versions of the games starring historical leaders like Napoleon. They also have versions of the game where you can play as the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic fleet from star wars, again a great example of good versus evil or dark versus light. The game can also be looked at through the lens of democracy versus dictatorship and peace versus war.

Closing comments and insights.

After analyzing these different media, I can comfortably say when it comes to the trope of world domination, there are often multiple binary oppositions that come to play. These binary oppositions however tend to aid either train of thought in the major narrative often making the viewer question their biases. For example, the production of the Alzheimer’s drug was sped up without the consent of the Will Rodman even though he advised against this. This was done for monetary gain which eventually brought about the fatal pandemic. Here greed won over morals and aided the cause of the apes. When looking at Thanos clearly shown as the villain, one could question whether he was a ‘necessary evil’ and to achieve an equilibrium that benefited everyone, there had to be a price to pay. His motives were ultimately not for personal gain or power but it was to ensure that everyone had enough to survive (Weyant, 2022). Most of these narratives fall under the umbrella of good versus evil but to classify them as so would take away from the smaller narratives and nuances of the characters. As mentioned before, these oppositions feed into each other and are like tributaries to a river, each having their own story but eventually feeding into the river of good versus evil.

While examining, I also realised that the ‘world domination’ narrative generally follows Todorov’s Narrative theory which takes place in a five act linear and chronological order . First we have an established equilibrium i.e. The Apes being caged and experimented upon (Planet of the Apes), Tony Stark enjoying a walk in the park (Avengers: Infinity Wars), the world being in its normal state with regular news like the release of books by authors (Plague Inc.) Then comes a disruption in the equilibrium, Caesar being able to say the word ‘No’ for the first time, the Children of Thanos making contact with Earth, the recognition of the spread of the virus or the disease. This is followed by disequilibrium which can be seen when the Avengers leave the planet in to attempt neutralizing Thanos’ threat, the Apes breaking free of their cages and running amok, the virus mutating and becoming fatal taking multiple lives and countries locking down borders. Penultimately, there is a struggle to repair or restore equilibrium shown as a final showdown between the two sides where the Avengers face Thanos and his army, the Apes face the Us Military and the WHO and multiple first world countries increase funding and research to cure the virus. Finally, there is a new equilibrium, the infamous Thanos snap reducing the population by half, Caesar and his fellow apes overpowering the military and going into the jungle, the extinction of humans in the case of Plague Inc (Todorov, 1971).

Theory: The note Konstantin handed to Pam to give to Carolyn said something like, "The Twelve had Villianelle kill Kenny"?

The scene where Carolyn and Pam are sitting at the Pub waiting had a weird feeling. It is right after Pam gives Konstantin's note to Carolyn in that park. Eve and Villanelle walk into the pub, Pam is confused. Carolyn is originally shocked silent. While Villanelle is surprised, and Eve becomes on guard.

Because of the way Eve acts suspiciously around Carolyn it makes us believe that Eve is probably nervous about the fact that she killed Lars when Carolyn asked her not to. Maybe Eve is also on guard because she still doesn't trust Carolyn's motives and she's wondering why Carolyn is there at the pub.

That is what I thought while originally watching the episode. However, now knowing what Carolyn had done to Villianelle. I can deduct that Carolyn was cold face shocked silent in the first few seconds of seeing Eve and Villanelle because of Villianelle. Carolyn's face is stern and focused when she sees Eve and Villanelle walk in. And it isn't until Villianelle takes that action to approach Carolyn and have a light hearted conversation (about their time in Havana)- where we see Carolyn put up this happy laughing joyful side. Which is something we rarely see from Carolyn, even around Eve in the past.

It's highly likely that Carolyn was faking her positive energy in that moment and Eve saw right through it. Though unfortunately I think Eve did not know the right reason why. All Eve knew was that she went against Carolyn and killed Lars, and that her and Carolyn are still playing their game but now against each other.

It is here where Carolyn states that she must take actions into her own hands. And by doing so Carolyn is switching up her enital plans.

And we are left there wondering why Eve and Carolyn hate each other now.

It's sudden, but it's because of the note that Konstantin gave Carolyn. Eve then tells Carolyn that Carolyn has already known who killed Kenny all this time. I think Eve either has no idea who it was or Eve is hinting that both Carolyn and Eve had suspicions that it was Villianelle that killed Kenny. It is only now that Carolyn knows the clear cut truth.

Though if Eve knew that it was Villianelle, why would she still go on a mission with Villianelle- thus putting her in danger? This is why I believe Eve actually did not know it was Villianelle who killed Kenny, and that Eve was bluffing in front of Carolyn. Eve had no idea Carolyn was going to target Villianelle. And sadly now Eve has no idea who did it.

❝b... beautiful baby?❞ noya repeats the words for himself as arms settle around his waist. instinctively his own arms rise to wrap around tooru’s neck, enitely without thought as he tries to process tooru’s words. when it hits him, the libero is quick to shake his head almost violently, stammering over his words as he tries to come up with an answer. ❝h-hey now, you can’t just say things like that! you’re gonna make my heart beat so fast it just explodes in my chest, you know?❞ oh, but he’s not truly complaining― as much as he doesn’t see himself as the pretty or beautiful type, he doesn’t mind hearing it from tooru. he’s just caught off guard, that’s all! 

...and, well, maybe he’s just not used to hearing it either, but tooru’s always been able to make him swoon with the simplest of things. noya himself still isn’t sure if it’s because of his voice or just the fact that it’s tooru saying those things. his beloved tooru, easily the most gorgeous person he’s ever met ( sorry, kiyoko ), the man who has had his heart longer than the libero might want to admit. it’d only make sense that compliments from him might fluster noya when they wouldn’t affect him coming from anyone else, right? 

whatever the case, the shorter at least recovers from his short circuiting pretty quickly, flashing tooru a grin as he hops up onto the other’s waist just to be at eye level ( or rather, a little bit below, but close enough in his opinion ). and maybe he’s gotten a little too casual with doing this over time, especially when anyone could turn the corner and catch them ( which always leads to teasing for noya because of his lack of height in comparison to his boyfriend ), but he doesn’t think the other minds. especially not when it’s just to affectionately brush their noses together with a delighted hum.

Black history month (Canada enition)

Denham Jolly

Denham Jolly is a prominent figure in Toronto's Black community, known for his success as an entrepreneur, publisher/author, philanthropist, and civil rights activist.

Jolly began his entrepreneurial career, in the 1960s, buying and operating rooming houses and nursing homes in Ontario and Texas. In the 1980s, he bought and became publisher of Contrast, a Toronto Black community newspaper founded in 1969. His articles highlighted the diverse experiences of Black people in Toronto, from long-time residents to newcomers from the Caribbean islands.

As the founding president of the Black Business and Professional Association (BBPA), Jolly promoted equal opportunities for Black Canadians in business, employment, and education. He generously supported various causes through the BBPA, including scholarships for promising young Black Canadians at the annual Harry Jerome Awards.

In 2001, Jolly created FLOW 93.5, Canada’s first Black-owned radio station, which featured Black music and stories from the Black community. The station promoted emerging Black artists, offered scholarships to Black youth, organized free concerts and supported Caribana, a festival celebrating Caribbean culture in Toronto.

Jolly has served on many organizations including as Director of the Toronto International Film Festival, Governor of the Toronto YMCA, and Board Member of the Surrey Place Centre in Toronto.

His community affairs include the Jamaican Canadian Association, Black Action Defense Committee, Jane and Finch Concerned Citizens, Harriet Tubman Games, Caribana.

He has received numerous distinctions and awards, including the Toronto Book Award (2017) for In The Black – My Life, the University of West Indies Raymond Change Award, the McGill University Distinguished Leader Award, Queen’s Gold and Diamond Jubilee Awards, the 2022 Order of Distinction Jamaica and was named Member of the Order of Canada in 2020. The City of Toronto named a street and park “Jolly Way” in his honour. He has been bestowed Honorary Doctorate degrees from University of Toronto and University of Guelph.

Jolly continues his philanthropic and activist endeavors such as founding a Breakfast Program at Cornwall College, Jamaica, sponsoring the first Boys Under 12 soccer team, Regent Park, Toronto and sponsoring a Basic School in Jamaica founded by his mother.

I am not entirely sure what to think of that descriptor, to be honest. Allegory, metaphors, and symbolism are not my specialties.

Interesting as it may have been, it affected Yuvon quite a bit. Hopefully, she’ll be better by tomorrow, at least somewhat.

While I have never heard the song Yuvon is talking about, I will say that Secret World Legends, the apparent source of Yuvon learning of the song, is among other genres a horror game. Make of that what you will.

It is a shame that Yuvon cut out before she could send her message properly, but there’s little to be done about it now.

Yes, the Prometheus puzzle seems to be of particular import. Yuvon was working on it, but now she seems to be pacing and muttering to herself. Once I’m done with this letter, I think I should speak with her.

I am utterly sure that Stalker is keeping at least something from us, but I doubt they will share it, especially as it is far more likely to be the death of me than of Yuvon. So it goes.

These images that you are going to see below are some personal images so people can get an idea of what i like and some of the stuff i spend my time doing.

The first image is an image of my PC Rig, this is mainly used to gaming and doing work. the Specs of the PC is that the CPU is a rysen 6 3500. the GPU is a Nvidia GTX 1660. The PC build has 32 GB ram which is great for when i am doing video editing or different creative activities.

Scarlet Nexus is a gmae created by Bandi namco and it is my favorate game for two reasons, the first reason is that the storyline and character development throughout the enite game is amazing and keeps you on your toes for the enite time that you are playing. The second reason is because of the replayability of the game. the game doesnt get boring after the first play through because there is different ways to playthough and there is always room for improvement in your own play style.

This is a movie called Your Name and it was created by Makoto Shinkai. Your name is about two people that end up having “dreams” that they are contolling each others body. this is one of my favorate movies that ive seen to date because of how the art style is done for the movie and also how the story line is shown to the viewer.

These are my ice skates and it is a fun hobby that i persue, the skates are created by bouer and are amazing to use, i have never persued advancing into doing ice hockey but it is something i would like to look into in the future.

These are my two newest additions to my dog family. their names are DD and Teady and there amazing (sometimes) and they are staffs and they are around 7 months old now.

This stands for Beatboxing and i love  to mess ablout with this type of music and see what i can create. i would love to carry on improving and being able to create better sounds and music pieces.
