Brief Thoughts on Some Ships Part 2

Engmano: Since they both speak such a similar "tsundere" language, they see right through the other. So if one of them says, "I didn't make these for you, I just had leftovers!" the other will know it's just a defence mechanism and not at all believe that lie. Knowing how the other works so well would lead to a lot of teasing as well. One of their bonding activities is trash talking other people. Also, Lovino does his best to help Arthur improve his cooking.

RusFra: Ivan greatly admires Francis, whom he finds sociable, fashionable, and loving. Francis, despite being a bit intimidated, sees the good in Ivan and reaches out to him when others won't, and is flattered when Ivan makes attempts to impress and do nice things for him – although he often makes mistakes, but that just endears Francis to him more.

GerAme: Ludwig loves dogs and Alfred is an absolute golden retriever of a man. Ludwig finds him way too cute and definitely wants to do pet play with him.

Ameripan: I think Kiku should give Alfred to a tentacle monster and watch.

RusEng: Seems intriguing. They both know some magic. I like the art where people depict Russia thinking Arthur looks like a sunflower with his green outfit and blond hair.

AmeChu: Alfred is Yao's bratty boy toy.

Prumano: As the older brothers who have to work harder for approval, I think they would understand each other. That canon scene of Prussia reaching out to Romano after he didn't get a part for a movie and encouraging him was super sweet.

AsaKiku: Arthur seems to fit a lot of popular love interest archetypes in anime. The gentleman/princely type, the tsundere, the lonesome bad boy... Perhaps that means he's very much Kiku's type? 😆 The ship seems cute and pleasant, though I would like to see a little more spice in the depictions.

USUKCan: Alfred and Matthew both crave validation from Arthur, so they compete for his attention and approval. Arthur definitely enjoys watching them both suck him off.

EngPort: Friends to lovers to friends. I think they experimented a lot with each other and are pretty close and comfortable regardless of their relationship.

AusHun: Girlboss x malewife. Team Rocket vibes.

I don’t really have an answer for this, I’m afraid, since I don’t watch much hetalia content on YouTube but I do quite like @keiksy-cake’s videos

My Hetalia Ships

I’ll start this off with saying that I’m very flexible when it comes to ships and you might see them change back and forth a bit over time, but as long as they’re 2 consenting adults I usually don’t have a problem with any pairing. (Though I might avoid interacting with a few ships for personal reasons, because they kind of ick(?) me personally.)

With that said, I DO have a few ships which has sneaked past my defenses over the years, which I hold a little extra dear at heart. Those pairings would be: 

- SuFin/ Sweden x Finland. I’ve also been in a fairly big SuFin mood lately, so you can probably expect to see a few works with these two loveable idiots from me, at least for a while. 

- FraSwe/ France x Sweden. A long story, but they also have some canon material and a lot of real history between them. 

- “SSF”/ Scotland (oc) x Sweden x France. An even longer story... ^J^;   - MexSwe/ Mexico (oc) x Sweden: Yeah... It’s a long story. (Rare-pair hell, whoo-hoo!) xD  - FrUk/ France x England. 

- PrUk/ Prussia x England.  - EngSwe/ England x Sweden. - Though I usually hc them as good friends who sometimes have to pretend they’re divorced parents when humans get a bit too nosy about Sealand. xD 

- Engmano/ England x Romano.   - HunViet/ Hungary x Vietnam. ♥ WOMEN! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ They’re so pretty and cute, but I also think these two would work really well together! ♥ 

- PruHun / Prussia x Hungary. 

- UkrSwe/ Ukraine x Sweden. Tbh a bit of a guilty pleasure, I suppose? Because I love them & their soft potential, but I also love Sweden as gay since he’s basically our only ACTUALLY 100% confirmed gay character. I don’t want to take that from him. At the same time though, these two would be so SOFT together. They have so much potential. ♥ (... So yeah, I’m a bit conflicted, but at the very least they would be amazing friends). 

- LadWy/ Ladonia x Wy. - Usually I only see them as friends, but sometimes I can see them being adorable cute and having an innocent crush on each other.

Hello! I'm a big fan of your fanfic "sun and rain makes a rainbow" (amazing work btw please don't ever stop writing 😅) and I was wondering what exactly made you ship England and Romano? I mean I love them together and honestly wish the ship was more popular but since it isn't I'm always curious when people do ship them. I'm especially interested in your opinion in particular seeing that you are writing such a perfect story about them in which their personalities are just ON POINT. Lots of ❤

Now this is a question I can definitely answer! Sorry it took so long for me to reply, tumblr has decided it’s not going to bother sending me any notifications letting me know I have posts. -____-  

To answer your question; I’m a bit of a history buff IRL, and I fell in love hetalia right away. Back then it was still just a webcomic, but England, and the ever sassy Romano became my two favourite characters  as soon as they appeared.��I got really annoyed by the fact that all the fanfics at the time were FrUK or UsUK, or Spamano, especially given the fact that in canon England and Romano are both pretty head strong characters, and the fandom often makes them uke to the point of being entirely submissive. I didn’t (still don’t) like that. It’s just not them in my opinion.  

So, I went on a hunt for non USUK or FrUK fics, and eventually came across the only EngMano story in existence. I absolutely fell in love with it, and over time more and more stories by the same writer appeared. Sadly the person who wrote them has now deleted a lot of the fics, and they no longer exist anywhere from what I can find. I was horrified to see they were gone. It broke my heart. 

The pairing and stories had left such a strong impression on me that it actually got me into revisiting the fandom again (pairing wars, Mary-sue OCs, and other things killed the fandom for me for a long time), but EngMano was still really obscure, even SpUK was fairly unheard of at the time, and I couldn’t find anything to sate my EngMano cravings. I started looking into real history, and found that the two countries share a lot of similarities. I can’t go into too much detail without possibly giving away possible spoilers for my story, but it was extremely eye opening and interesting to research.

As the precious few EngMano stories that had existed slowly vanished one after the other I came to realise that if I wanted to see EngMano I’d have to write it myself (I thought about drawing, but I’m a terrible artist). I only really wrote the story to satisfy my own cravings for EngMano. Which is why I wrote it anonymously on the kinkmeme; if no one read or liked it it wouldn’t matter, but eventually the story escaped the prompt, and became its own, and livejournal’s character limit and lack of editing facilities got annoying. I wasn’t able to write the story the way I wanted to, so I ended up posting it on AO3.

I was really worried that I would never be able to recreate the same enrapturing quality of the original EngMano fics I’d found all those years ago in my own writing, but the response I’ve gotten for this story (especially for such an underrated pairing) has been so amazing that I’m so glad I chose to try and bring it to light, because it really is an amazing pairing!

So, yeah, that’s the story of how I came to discover EngMano, and write ““Sun and Rain”.

Antis really believe their perspective/interpretation of a relationship between fictional landmasses is the only one that exists. They're convinced it gives them a free pass to act morally superior and insult people just because they're mad it's getting attention. In the end, though, that says more about them than it does me, and I have nothing to be ashamed of so long as I act like a reasonable individual.
