I plan to translate a recent short MaryEne fan doujinshi from 2021.

I've archived most (~90%) of KuroEne's fanarts, comics, and doujinshi (since I saved them from back when I was a kid), so I've also been translating KuroEne's old fanarts and doujinshi (SFW and NSFW) in my free time. These mostly come from 2013 - 2016.

I've archived a bit of KonoEne and HaruTaka's fan works too.

Considering most are fanarts and comics that have been deleted from the internet, and the moral gray area of translating old deleted fanarts, comics, and doujinshi, I think my solution will be to host my TLs on my personal Notion site, cuz I feel like Notion works better than Google Docs for that.

It'll host all the KagePro fan ship comic TLs I do.

Because I also feel that it's sad for these fan works to lose all digital traces on the internet... And I would like to share them so other people can enjoy them. Tumblr is niche enough that I think this should be ok.

Upon arrival, you can already hear the music.. Swan lake.. of course everyone knew this. You set your bag down and watch as your partner.. dances by himself.. admiring him.. as it goes silent the next moment.. you cough slightly, catching the male’s attention.

He just nodded his head before starting the music. As soon as you hear the first instrument.. you become slightly nervous.. you try not to pay attention to the male right next to you. You didn’t know what it was but you felt some kind of attraction towards him. Not that you told anyone yet about your feelings for your partner.

You wait off on the side as the infamous “Swan lake 1. SCENE” plays.. you watch as you wait for the next song to be over so you can start your part. Just like magic.. the next song plays, Sunghoon continues to dance as you watch.. You prepare yourself as you finally start.. Sunghoon is far away, watching you.. Your part is towards the end so you only have a short moment.. and as you stand there the next song starts.. you begin dancing again.. points shoes.. holding you up.. as you twirl.. then Sunghoon begins.. as he “chases” you in the dance.. then he finally catches up to you.. grabbing you arm and turning around.. you both make eye contact. And as everything seems to go fast you separate yourself apart and soon it’s Sunghoon “protecting” you from Rothbart.. in usual rehearsal.. everyone would be here but because it’s a private rehearsal it’s only you two..

Then the third song finished. You breathe for air.. and fall flat on your feet.. you could feel the pain slowly coming.. as Sunghoon pauses.. you take a seat on the floor exhausted from dancing non-stop for 5 minutes.. feet in pain.. you lie down before closing your eyes.. but once you open your eyes Sunghoon is above you staring at you..

“Need something..?” You asked him. He shakes his head before lying down right next to you on the floor.. “Exhausted..?” He asked, looking at the lights. “Hell yeah my feet fucking hurt from standing in point for minutes straight..” you could feel his eyes on you. You tried to ignore it before.. turning your head to the side.. making eye contact. You look into his eyes.. his eyes are on something. Your lips.. “Is something on my lips..?” Sunghoon's face looks surprised.. “N-no nothing..” he sighs before getting up and walking away.. Great way to ruin the mood. But his gaze looked like he wanted to do something.. maybe even kiss you.

You shake your thoughts off and sit right back up. The silence between you two gets louder if even possible. You stare at yourself in the mirror. Slowly gaining back your energy. You could see Sunghoon from the mirror seemingly drinking some water but you focus your gaze back onto yourself.

“What if we never got our roles..?” You asked out of the blue. “What do you by that?” Sunghoon looks at you. You turn your head to face him. “What if we never got our parts we have now we both wouldn’t be here.” You kept a blank face. Giving Sunghoon a hard time to figure out your true intentions on the question. “And what makes you ask that?” You keep quiet for a bit before answering. “Nothing, just wondering. Like what if someone else got your part with me.. or the other way around. Or maybe we both didn’t get the parts.” You rambled on. Sunghoon could only help smile a bit. “You’re so cute.” Sunghoon doesn’t realize he said only after your reaction. Your eyes widen as your voice slowly fades out. You feel yourself sweating. “What did you say..”

“I-nothing..” It’s too late, regardless. “You said I’m cute..” you point at him then yourself. “Is there something you’re hiding, hmm..?” You look at him in an amused expression. Sunghoon Can feel the tip of his ears slowly becoming warmer, probably even a bit red. “Why would I be hiding something.. that would be weird.” He states, defending himself for your accusation. “Sure like anyone would believe you, now tell me.” Of course he couldn’t hide anything for shit. “I did say you’re cute but it was by accident, it just came out of nowhere.. I’m not denying you aren’t cute or anything I just-“ Sunghoon sighs giving up on explaining himself.

You could help but laugh.. “and what if I said the same thing about you.” You stare into his eyes, expression turning into a slight confident one. His own eyes widened, surprised. “Me..?” He was too stunned. Frozen in place. Your smirk widens as you stand up and walk towards him. “Correct..” You could tell you made him extremely nervous and shy. “Why..? Do you like it.?” You teased him. “I-what no why would I..I like it.” He rambled, making you believe the opposite. “Sure like I would believe you. Now tell me the truth. Do you like being called cute?” Sunghoon stared right into your eyes. Noticing the glint of lust in them. “And what if I say yes?” Was he now trying to annoy you or what? “I don’t know.. say it and you’ll find out.” You won’t give up. You really want him to say yes, but you don't know him that well to really know what answer you'll end up receiving.

The X-Men 97 finale was everything and more. The way that I screamed because I KNEW! We were gonna get the Death!Gambit Plotline so hopefully more Romy and hopefully it gets adapted well. I can not wait for the X-Men to get reunited.

But I really would love to know where the fuck Storm, Morph, and Wolverine are. Hopefully they are safe.

Now onto the episode. Good thing Bastion died because he doesn't deserve any kind of redemption. The X-Men are too good sometime (just my personal opinion) I am so happy Kurt didn't die cause the way that I genuinely was scared that he would get killed scared me.

Seeing Sinister grow old and bald made me fucking day. Cause I already knew Phoenix was coming and she ate down (per usual)

Also Rogue beating up Bastion was so damn satisfying especially since it was in the name of Remy. I am so happy the Jubilee and Roberto made up. I also thought that Magneto and Xavier were going to kiss like multiple times.

I love how Scott was telling Logan to heal it was perfect just like how I love how Morph was there for Wolverine. Like Morph is down bad for him and you can not convince me otherwise.

I also loved seeing that Magneto was thinking of Wanda, Pietro, and Polaris. We should really get to see them. And damn does Pietro look like his daddy.

The fight sequences where so gorgeous and the way the X-Men refused to abandon each other when stopping the asteroid was everything to me. They are family and it's time to show it. I loved when Roberto saved Jubilee and how Jubilee slayed by blasting Bastions face.

The talk between Nathan, Scott, and Jean made me emotional. I hope they get an opportunity to be with their son even just for a little bit. I also knew good and damn well that they were gonna run into apocalypse. I can not wait for the next season I genuinely super fucking excited.

Also we finally got Bishop back!!! Woo hoo!! And Forge and Bishop going on a mission to save the X-Men is gonna be worth seeing. Very curious about who they plan on bringing with them. Like obviously I believe they are gonna have Roberto and Jubilee but aside from that who else.

On another note I hope Jubs is okay because she lost her family right infront of her eyes.

The Anti-Fascist Themes of X-Men: Age of Apocalypse

One element that I’ve really grown to appreciate about the 90s crossover event X-Men: Age of Apocalypse when I recently re-read the storyline last year in omnibus format, is just how effectively it functions as a complete refutation against fascism as an ideology.

For some context, the "Age of Apocalypse" (or "AoA") is an alternate-dystopian-future timeline which was accidentally created when Professor Charles Xavier's neurodivergent son Legion (aka, David Haller), went on a misguided quest to make his father's dreams of peaceful human and mutant co-existence a reality by traveling back in time to assassinate Xavier's current archnemesis and former closest friend Magneto (aka, Erik Lehnsherr) before he could initiate his war against humanity. Instead, Legion accidentally killed Xavier when the latter hurled himself between his Erik and Legion's psionic dagger. Xavier's premature death resulted in a disastrous time-paradox where not only was Legion himself erased from the timeline, but Xavier never lived to form the X-Men. Matters were made even worse by the fact that the ancient and evil mutant Apocalypse (aka, En Sabah Nur) took advantage of this opportunity to begin his plans for world domination 20-years ahead of schedule, conquering all of North America and implementing his program of "cleansing" humanity's gene pool of all he considered weak and unfit to live. However, seeing Xavier die to save his life changed Magneto's pessimistic outlook on life, resulting in the Master of Magnetism devoting his life to bring about Xavier's dream of peace and founding his own version of the X-Men who fight against Apocalypse's reign of terror.

In regards to how AoA effectively functions as an anti-fascist text, it is important to discuss how the villain Apocalypse's goals are fundamentally fascistic in nature. En Sabah Nur's primary motivation in the AoA timeline (as well as the main Earth-616 continuity) is promoting of his extremist Social Darwinist philosophy of “survival of the fittest,” in which all normal humans and even fellow mutants with lesser powers are labeled as “unfit” and are condemned to total slaughter. Apocalypse and his followers are essentially framed as being the mutant equivalents to Adolf Hitler and the Nazis, since their empire not only actively promote fascist eugenicist beliefs of racial supremacy and genocide, but it is also reflective of fascism's nature as an inherently self-destructive ideology which is ultimately destined to result in the eventual deaths of everyone it impacts.

This ouroboros element of fascism is evident through Apocalypse's enablement of war against the Human High Council overseas in Europe despite his knowledge that they’ll retaliate with a nuclear carpet bombing in self-defense. But Apocalypse is willing to risk the deaths of even himself and his own followers all for the sake of his single-minded goal of determining whether or not the strong will rise from the ashes of those deemed "weak" and "inferior."

The parallels between Apocalypse's empire and Nazi Germany are made incredibly overt throughout the narrative. In addition to conducting routine mass cullings against those deemed to be “genetically inferior” (including both humans and mutants), Apocalypse's strategy of intentionally breaking the "Kelly Pact" peace-treaty he signed with the Human High Council in order to expand his empire into Europe bears a lot of parallels to how Hitler historically violated the non-aggression pact he signed with Josef Stalin by invading Russia during World War II.

Plus, the AoA version of Hank McCoy, aka Dark Beast, conducts barbaric eugenics experiments on mutants that Apocalypse has labeled as “unfit,” and one of En Sabah Nur’s four Horsemen and own son is literally named “Holocaust” (who personally carried out the mass-culling of Japan's entire population of which the X-Man Sunfire was the sole survivor of). Furthermore, another of Apocalypse's Horsemen and his centuries'-long right-hand man is Mister Sinister, whom later during Chris Claremont's run on Excalibur from the early 2000s was revealed to have once been a literal Nazi scientist who worked under Josef Mengele at Auschwitz.

But as much as fascists love to boast about their alleged strength and superiority, in reality said-strength is nothing more than a facade. For all the immense physical power that Apocalypse and his Four Horseman possess, they are ultimately weak in character they were only able to they have to show for their power is mountains upon mountains of corpses of innocent lives that they have stolen. This is evident through Holocaust’s desire to convert the remains of the victims of the latest Culling into an army of Infinites (cloned cybernetic mutant foot-soldiers), something which the X-Man Sabertooth accurately points out as being inherently antithetical to Holocaust’s alleged “superiority.” After all, if he’s so strong and “fit to survive,” then why does he need an army of artificial soldiers bred in a lab in order to boast about said “strength”?

Heck, even the usually non-serious jokey member of the X-Men, Morph, alludes to the fact that fascist’s illusion of “strength” is only made possible through the demonization of others.

"No matter how strong, no matter how powerful, it always comes down to name calling."

As Linkara pointed out in the third part of his Secret Empire review, at the end of the day, fascism is a loser ideology that is entirely dependent on the illusion of “strength” whilst simultaneously destroying itself and everything and everyone else around it. Rogue said it best whilst fighting Holocaust:

“How many lives have to be lost, how much blood has to flow, until y’all are satisfied?!”

In stark contrast to Apocalypse and his Horsemen, Magneto and his X-Men represent not only hope and perseverance in the ongoing fight against fascism, but also true strength. Not the illusion of strength based on power obtained via the deaths of innocents but fighting against oppression and annihilation. As Magneto so eloquently puts it to Apocalypse:

“To fight… is to survive. I and everyone like me who believes you and your Horsemen are wrong… will never stop fighting…”

Additionally, the AoA version of Magneto serves as an interesting role reversal of his mainstream Earth-616 counterpart wherein instead of becoming a mutant-terrorist Erik has adopted the late Xavier’s dream of striving peaceful mutant and human co-existence. In the original timeline Erik's background as a Holocaust survivor influenced his pessimistic outlook towards human and mutant relationships, prompting him to wage war against humanity to ensure mutants will never suffer through a similar genocide. And plenty of stories since the classic Chris Claremont era have simultaneously portrayed Erik struggling with falling prey to ideologies of mutant supremacy, as he fears that such a path could turn him into someone just like those who once persecuted him.

AoA expands upon this element of Magneto's characterization through portraying Erik as actively opposing the ultimate destination in which mutant supremacy ideologies inevitably lead towards. He fights against Apocalypse’s extreme Social Darwinist “survival of the fittest” doctrine that has already murdered millions of normal humans and fellow mutants alike.

In essence, the AoA version of Magneto is a Jewish Holocaust survivor who grew up to become rebel freedom-fighter striving to achieve Xavier’s dreams of peace by fighting against the mutant equivalents of the Nazis who once persecuted Erik as a child! At the end of the day, AoA is ultimately about the rejection of "might makes right," as the so-called “strong” are ultimately defeated by those they discriminated against for their perceived “weakness." A thesis which is laid bare during the final battle against Apocalypse in X-Men: Omega, wherein Erik delivers one of the most badass refutations against fascism that I've personally ever read:

"'Survival of the fittest' indeed. You preen and posture as if your were the first dictator to discover the concept and stake the world's fate on its nonsense. As a child, I heard the very same babble from a Berlin house painter... a madman whose Aryan race tried to wipe out all it deemed 'dirty' or 'impure.' And do you remember who won the war he began? The 'weak'... who rose in righteous triumph... TO OVERTHROW THE STRONG ONCE AND FOR ALL!"

Overall, X-Men: Age of Apocalypse's anti-fascist themes and framing is quite honestly the element of the storyline that I’ve grown the most fond of upon re-reading this event crossover after several years!

I originally didn't notice all of this rich subtext when I first read AoA a few years ago, but I recognize it now upon my recent re-read and it has greatly elevated the overall quality of this storyline in my eyes!

Since the Arakko Civil War had ended, the deported mutant civilians of Krakoa are no longer hiding. The mutants of two groups (Krakoan mutants and Arakki mutants) are assembled as Apocalypse acts like a general. The mutants are greeted by Rogue, Manifold and Gambit. They had brought the S.W.O.R.D space station with them to not only bring home the mutant civilians, but to also bring the two groups of mutant fighters with them to fight Orchis on Earth.

This time, we will be going over one of the three-way tie winners.

Those winners being:

Other, which won't be a roster, but how I'd handle a fighting game and its mechanics.

And this week's winner: X-Men vs. Street Fighter 2

Here is our roster, and while this may come from my Smash Bros. loving heart, but EVERYONE IS HERE.

...ok, so there were 18 characters to bring back, so it's not super offensive.

I decided to do X-Men vs. Street Fighter 2 instead of Marvel vs. Capcom 4 because, well, everyone else kept bringing up the same characters for their sure you'd get the odd ball inclusion like Death's Head or Balrog but nothing too interesting... so I've narrowed it down to the basics to keep things fresh.

Summary:

AyaTaka/AyaEne AU with a Route setup similar to MR2, but Ayano gets to meet the rest of the Yuukei Quartet. Ayano pines for Takane/Ene, who also has feelings for her.

Sen writes about a ship that's not KuroEne or 9/6 related? Surprise surprise. I was thinking about how much having Ayano in the present plot would fuck with the canon, so I think the Route has to take place before MR2.

I write AUs for my secondary ships, sometimes. I think it'd also be fun to write a separate AyaTaka/AyaEne AU, and then a separate KuroEne + AyaEne AU

Kuroha -> Ene <- Ayano could be a fun tense love triangle between 2 enemies and the cyber girl diva they're infatuated with...

AyaTaka/AyaEne is my fave Takane/Ene yuri/sapphic pair cuz Ayano and Takane have history together.

They have personalities that are really well matched for each other, and they go well together, so I think AyaEne would be really interesting to think about… I want them to interact more.

I couldn't really find AyaEne content, so I took it in my own hands to write about them myself.

MaryEne

I think MaryEne (regardless of whether it's platonic or ship), has really interesting ship potential (based on my KuroEne AU stuff where they team up against Kuroha)

I first started thinking about MaryEne because of my KuroEne AU stuff where they team up against Kuroha, but I realized it’s honestly a big brain ship.

It’s also Snake x Bunny like KuroEne (technically, since Mary is 1/4 Medusa), but much softer, and they have great parallels when it comes to loneliness.

“Seemingly opposites, deep down similar” ship trope my beloved...

KuroEne

In my KuroEne AU, Ene being able to occupy an android body in the real world can technically only happen BECAUSE of Kuroha/Saeru, due to the extent of his knowledge…

Like, he'd be the only one who'd be able to do it, due to his capabilities. But having Ene out in the real world just makes things sexier so uhhhhh... For the sake of the AyaEne AU, ignore logic, I guess.

I took some creative liberties in my KuroEne AU too, but they're still more in-line with canon (just canon divergent)

Kuroha's the only one who'd have the capabilities to make Ene's body, so I'm not sure how her android body would get made otherwise… But I'm just gonna roll with it

I bet Ayano would recognize Ene's true identity as Takane immediately when she sees her (unlike everyone else)

AyaTaka/AyaEne AU: Dialogue Scripts

Context: In MR2, Ayano doesn't meet the rest of the Yuukei Quartet (Shintaro, Haruka, Takane) and Mary joins her family.

A landslide claims her parents, Ayaka and Kenjirou (so Saeru doesn't possess Kenjirou) and Ayano enters the Kagerou Daze and returns to the real world with Favouring Eyes.

She becomes estranged from her adoptive siblings (Kido, Seto, Kano) when she suggests killing Mary as a last resort solution since Saeru targets Mary everytime

I just realized I never posted my AyaTaka/AyaEne AU ideas here???

I started writing ideas for an AyaEne AU that's similar to MR2, but Ayano still meets the rest of the Yuukei Quartet.

AyaTaka are much closer in this AU, so I bet Ayano probably brought Takane to her home to see her siblings.

I love them so much 🥺

Also these are WIPs so I used line breaks to mark scene transitions, or which scenes I still need to add to.

Ideas for an AyaTaka/AyaEne AU (solo ship focus) and a separate KuroEne & AyaEne AU ("Enemies" both pining for their fave cyber girl diva...)

I came up with the idea of the 2nd AU just to fuel my gay side, that's all there is to it

Also about killing Mary, what would happen to Combining Eyes, the Queen Snake? It'd be illogical for Saeru to possess Mary since his main goal was to possess Konoha

F: Unlike Shintaro, Ayano can read through people, so she'd easily recognize Ene

The fact she could remember how Takane was like despite her being the most soft and caring person towards her (since Takane treats people differently, she acts soft-aggressive to Haruka and competitive to Shintaro)

Yes there are some moments where Takane is caring to the rest of the quartet, but most of the time she just treats them like that 😭

Me: Exactly, like it’s completely understandable that Ayano would be pushed to the point of desperation that she'd consider killing Mary to protect everyone from the Clearing Eyes Snake (Saeru)

Me: And that's a good point as well. What happens to Combining Eyes if Mary dies? Does he try to possess Mary to save her life just to make her reset? Does that even work? Or does Combining Eyes go back to Azami

Me: Despite their limited interactions, Takane definitely acts softer towards Ayano due to her personality.

Me: Irt that line... I personally thought of it like Ene remembering her old memories with Ayano.

I feel like she'd later express regrets for being so caught up with herself that she didn't realize Ayano's feelings (and how much she sacrificed for the sake of her siblings)

Oh yeah I recognize that but I did imagine a Route where Takane is closer to Ayano

Even in canon, most of their relationship is Ayano giving Takane advice/courage about Haruka and talking about HaruTaka and ShinAya

So I obviously wanted to delve more into their relationship.
