James let out a slight laugh, shaking his head, “And what is this, exactly?”

“You know, this,” Regulus said, gesturing between James and himself.

James turned his body toward Regulus. “I didn’t realize that this,” He said making the same gesture. “-was anything.” Then he took a step forward, causing Regulus to take a step back.

Regulus sputtered a little. “I-It’s not! B-But with earlier, I didn’t want you getting the wrong idea.”

Another step forward, another step back. “Right, 'cause you practically dragging me back to your apartment to hookup is definitely going to give me the right idea.” A smirk appeared on James’ face.

Regulus scoffed, rolling his eyes while attempting to hold back the blush spreading on his cheeks. “I was drunk.”

James stepped forward, and Regulus felt the wall at his back. “And now you’re sober?” James asked, leaning just a bit closer.

Regulus forced himself to maintain eye contact with James, arms crossing in front of him as a barrier. “Yes,” He nodded, lying to himself as much as James.

“Able to make wise decisions?” James asked, close enough now that Regulus could see the bit of gold that circled James’ irises.

“Yes,” Regulus whispered breathlessly.

“And you’re positive this is nothing?” James’ lips are mere inches away now.

Regulus nodded but felt his eyelids betray him as they began to flutter close.

Then the heat was gone.

James had just begun to turn away when a hand grabbed his. Internally, Regulus cursed his teenage self for not only having a crush on the boy in front of him but for causing his stomach to do a backflip at the idea of dancing together.

Externally, he finished the last bit of his drink and gestured towards the floor. James beamed at him, making Regulus’ stomach defy gravity for a moment, then started leading him through the crowd. Regulus blamed the alcohol.

It’s even more dense now, and Regulus braced himself to push through the bodies. Only it never happened. James used the whole width of his frankly muscular torso to clear a path for them. The music was roaring now and Regulus could feel the bass in his bones. James was still holding his hand, his thumb brushing over one of the rings on Regulus’ hand when they found a small opening in the middle of the floor and James turned to face Regulus

Looking at James, Regulus panicked for a moment. He’s danced with friends and plenty of strangers but this, this is James Potter. How could Regulus dance with him the same way he danced with strangers, people he didn’t care about?

He’s about to turn to face the crowd, his default having been his back toward his dancing partner, when James uses the hand he was holding to pull him close, their bodies pressed together. Regulus looked away, trying to hide his flush and James’ lips found their way to his ear. “Is this alright?” James asked.

Regulus nodded. Embarrassed into silence once more, while his traitorous heart picked up its speed.

James moved his hands, slowly, so as not to freak out his new dance partner. He brought them to rest them on Regulus’ waist, but the movement alone does something to Regulus. All at once, his brain seemed to short-circuit, and remember there was alcohol flowing through his veins. Regulus reached up, throwing his arms over James’ shoulders. Then, they start moving at the same time. Pressed together, James' hands firmly on Regulus’ waist, they dance in time to the beat.

The longer they danced, the more relaxed Regulus felt. He ran his hands through his hair and swung his hips, and was already smiling when he snuck a glance up at James.

Maybe it was the lights or the alcohol, but Regulus could have sworn that James was looking at him with hunger. It was gone quickly, James' signature smile coming in full force. Then, Regulus had an idea.

He put his hands over James’, which were still on his waist. He gave James his best ‘Trust me’ look and James gave him a nod right before Regulus took James’ hands off. Regulus felt the music flowing through him and shook his hips in a circle as he turned, his arms flung in the air then slowly down his body. When he had turned a full 180, he pressed his back into James and quickly grabbed the other man’s hands to replace them on his waist.

James’ lips were back at Regulus’ ear once again. “You’re an amazing dancer, Regulus,” James said, his hot breath making Regulus shiver, and he swore that James’ grip tightened slightly. The compliment made Regulus smirk, thinking of all the moves he hadn’t done yet. James moved his lips, brushing them against the skin where Regulus’ neck met his shoulder. “And you smell fucking delicious,” James spoke directly into his ear, and the words shot directly to Regulus’ core.

The sober, rational part of Regulus’ brain was trying to remind him of who this was, that it wasn’t some random stranger he had picked up, this was James Potter.

But the much louder, drunker part of his brain loved how James’ body felt against his and might kill him if he moved his hands away.

so i wrote a lil something for a potential jegulily challengers au…

Lily’s lungs burn when she inhales, her chest catching fire every time she takes in another panting breath. Her legs are still heavy from the last rally— the longest rally of the match— but her eyes are trained on the other end of the court.

Emma Vanity’s breaths are ragged too as she paces the mirrored lines, hands on her hips and her mouth wearing a frown. The ball boy is still collecting the ball, and the crowd’s cheers continue to roar amidst the leftover energy, but all Lily can focus on is Emma, the score, and her own heart hammering in her ears.

Another ball boy holds out four for her to choose from. The crowd’s excitement begins to taper off as she takes in the choices before her. Lily holds each of them in her hands, squeezing to check the pressure before selecting the two with the least. The ball boy rushes back to his position, and Lily returns her sight to Emma.

“Fifteen-Forty!” the umpire sharply announces from their chair, the crowd now having returned the silence to take their anticipation.

Breathe in, breathe out. She smothers the fire in her lungs, but there’s a match in her hand. She bounces the ball once, twice— she glances up at Emma. She’s shifting foot-to-foot in her defensive position, waiting eagerly. Lily steps closer to the service line, ready.

She tosses the ball into the air. Her sneaker drags against the hardcourt as she lifts her racket, the sun glaring down at her, and takes her swing. In the blink of an eye, the ball hits the service box and sets the final point into motion.

With a grunt, Emma sends the ball flying back with a powerful forehand stroke. Eyes on the ball, Lily makes a seamless split step and gets to where it lands before it does.

One.

She quickly finds her positioning and returns the stroke in kind. The sound of her racket carries through the entire stadium.

Two.

Emma chases the ball and takes a hit. The ball hurdles over the net and bounces on Lily’s service line.

Three.

Lily split steps and swings, shooting the ball straight ahead at Emma’s center. Lily follows through with the stroke and shuffles back into position, anticipating.

Four.

Emma is goaded back into the center of her court as she returns the fire with fire. A backhand stroke has the ball bounding over to Lily exactly where she wanted it, as if there’s a chain she’s yanking.

Five.

She knows where it needs to go. Lily only has to make a small step and swing her racket away from her body, and the ball goes where she needs it to.

Six.

The ball hits Emma’s far left corner, near the alley but within line. Emma has to scramble over her own feet to get behind the ball, barely able to make a swing at it before it could bounce a second time. Her grunt is loud and angry when she sends it back into Lily’s hands.

Seven.

The ball makes a high arc, a bid to bide time, but Lily rushes forward at the center line to meet it halfway. She pours all her will into this swing, her hips and shoulders unloading everything, smashing the ball with a frenzied cry.

Emma was spun around too many times. She miscalculates Lily’s aim as she tries to refocus herself, allowing the ball to crush against the center line with no chance of volley.

Eight.

The hundreds of people in the audience burst into applause, jumping to their feet and whistling and clapping at the closer. Lily’s heart soars in her chest as she watches Emma hang her head in defeat and hears the umpire announce her victory.

“Come on!” Lily’s voice tears out of her throat, rising over the crowd and reverberating throughout her dominion.

yes, it will be entirely in lily’s perspective. yes, it will be jegulily endgame. yes, i had to look up everything about tennis because i know nothing. no, i have not actually seen challengers yet.

also i have seen that there is a jegulily challengers au already. i haven’t read much of it because i don’t want the movie to be completely spoiled for me, but from what i read it was great! just want to acknowledge that so no one thinks i’m stealing or something!

I love when people ask me about my opinions about my special interest, it's like my own personal love language. Please keep asking me things, it makes me smile.

Okay so I love rosekiller. I think they're adorable and I get the vibe that they're both painfully in love with each other but neither will admit it and they just flirt and flirt and everyone's like....c'mon guys.

As far as bartylus....okay so here's the thing. I think all ships are valid (outside of like... incest/noncon). If someone likes a ship, I would never truly judge- ships are dear to people for many different reasons. Sure, I joke about ships being strange, but I am not the guy to shame someone for a ship. BUT I suck at multishipping. I get so attached to my babies and start seeing myself in them, so it's hard to then see them in different relationships. X is meant to be with Y. For that reason, I'm not a Bartylus fan, at least for endgame. I can see barty and reg fucking around at some point, but Reg and James, to me, are perfect.

My only real exception of this is Jegulus and Jegulily. I am wholeheartedly here for both. I also love Pandalily.

But like.. I have my own brain canon, and it's difficult for me personally to read or write something that doesn't fit that.

Hate is a strong word, but one that I doesn't like is Jilly. I can, and I love Jegulily but I can't stand Jilly. I don't like Lily that much... sorry?!

2 - what's a ship you like that most people don't?

I had two, but 'cause I don't want to receive hate and don't want to argue about it, I'll only say one. Moonwater (Remus and Regulus), people only see them as friends, and I see that too, but I can see them so much like a couple. And I love it!

3 - what is the most underrated ship, in your opinion?

Again, my babies, Moonwater. Just cause people only see them as friends. Remus can have anyone besides Sirius, ok guys?
