BuckTommy Fluffebruary: Day 12

~A day at the beach~

Buck had thoroughly prepared to spend the entire day at the beach with Maddie and little Jee. What he hadn’t prepared for was the volleyball net set up not far from where they were relaxing, occupied by a group of guys playing an intense game. 

So, Buck wasn’t expecting that while holding Jee on his lap, he would turn around to glance at his surroundings and end up spotting the most breathtakingly handsome guy he had ever seen in his life.

The guy was built like a Greek god, his muscles perfectly defined. He moved swiftly and jumped effortlessly as if he weighed nothing at all. His mesmerizing profile, slightly wavy hair, and sun-kissed skin glowing under the sun only added to his allure. His beach shorts were loose and long, but during certain jumps, the fabric tightened in all the right places, revealing his firm, round…

Buck quickly turned away, swallowing hard. He hoped no one had noticed him staring, but as soon as he met his sister’s gaze, he saw a knowing smile that did not bode well for him.

Jee suddenly spotted a familiar little girl on the beach and asked for permission to go say hi. She ran off to play, giving Maddie the perfect opportunity to slide closer to Buck and glance toward the volleyball court.

- Where were you looking? - Maddie asked in a silky voice. After a brief pause, she added, - At that guy in the palm-print shorts?

- What? No!! - Buck instantly exploded. - Of course not! What makes you think that? I wasn’t even looking there! And besides, a guy?! I don’t date guys, so - 

- So, you were looking at the guy in the palm-print shorts, - Maddie cut off his frantic rant.

Buck wanted to argue with her, but Jee suddenly returned, reaching out to her mother.

- Mommy, I’m thirsty!

"Alright, sweetheart, - Maddie cooed, then turned to Buck. - Uncle Buck will go get us something to drink. What would you like, dear?

- Yes, of course, I-…- Buck had already started getting up but froze mid-movement. The beach bar was directly in front of them, and there was no way he could get there without passing the volleyball court.

He shot Maddie a pleading look.

- An orange juice for Jee and a Coke for me, please, Uncle Buck, - Maddie said in a tone that left no room for objections. Then she winked.

With a deep sigh, Buck headed toward the bar. The entire way, he stole glances at the guy who had caught his attention, grateful that he remained facing away. But just as Buck reached the bar, the player turned around - and Buck immediately averted his gaze.

Barely managing to recall Maddie’s order, Buck clutched the two cups in his hands and started walking back. He planned to resist looking at the players, but a commotion on the court caught his attention, and he glanced up - just in time to see the guy in palm-print shorts backing up to reach for the ball, completely unaware of Buck’s presence.

Buck had no time to dodge.

The collision was inevitable. The drinks fell to the sand, and Buck would have followed if the guy hadn’t reacted swiftly, spinning around and catching him mid-fall.

- I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to, - the guy said as he helped Buck regain his footing. - I’ll buy you new drinks. This was my fault.

- You don’t have to… - Buck started to protest, but his throat went dry. Up close, the guy was even more stunning - sharp features, striking blue eyes that seemed to see right through him.

- It’s fine, I caused the accident, and I want to make it up to you, - the blue-eyed stranger said with a playful wink, leaving Buck utterly speechless. - What do I need to get?

- Uh… It’s… An orange juice for my niece and a Coke for my sister, - Buck finally managed to say.

- And for you?

- For me… What? - Buck couldn’t believe the guy was asking him.

- I knocked into you, so let me make up for it. What can I get you?

Buck still couldn’t tear his gaze away from him, and after a short pause, he answered.

- I’d prefer a beer, but since I’m with my family, I’ll take a non-alco one.

The guy chuckled, nodding in understanding.

- Don’t go anywhere. I’ll be right back, - he said, turning to leave before pausing and glancing back. - I’m Tommy, by the way.

As the evening rolled in, Maddie and Jee left for home, but Buck stayed - invited by Tommy. He cheered for Tommy’s team in volleyball and later sat by the ocean with him, drinking finally good beer and watching the small waves roll in.

That night, when Buck returned home and found Jee already fast asleep, he told Maddie that Tommy had kissed him at sunset, that he now had the guy’s number, and that he had been invited to a movie date that weekend. @bucktommyfluffebruary 💕

cressida's storyline was genuinely shameful tbhhh it's like they started rewriting it in the first half of the season then completely forgot about the changes they'd made to make it fit the book plot and it just ends up making everyone else look bad😐 every character in the second half got a "penelope did nothing wrong" lobotomy so we ended up with eloise completely ignoring cressida being sold off to an horrible man (when she made every effort to support her in the first half of the season) and for some reason resenting her for pretending to be lady whistledown? Then they somehow frame her ignoring colin's offensively bad pleas as it being her turning away from redemption when all she's trying to do is escape being trapped in the country with her likely abusive aunt... and it ends with her meeting her horrible fate and it still being framed as tragic only to immediately juxtapose it with the bridgerton family winning the idgaf war while gleefully seeing off francesca and her future dead husband. The bridgertons were the villains of the season frfr

Okay so here's my thing: I figured I would hop right into part 2 of my babby Tim fic after finishing part 1, and then a really fucked up Tim/Ra's idea jumped into my head and got me by the throat, and now I have mood whiplash from my own brain/writing?!

Also, a scene from my truly stupid, self-indulgent "Jason and Tim accidentally become bros immediately" fic sprung into my sleepy mind and then poured itself out of my fingers fully formed into a Google Doc.

So. I may be writing multiple longfics at the same time. Wish me luck?!

autoimmune disease/chronic illness talk:

autoimmune sucks, :( my diet is limited and i hate it man. can't eat gluten, dairy, red meat, shellfish, like wow my body is a real asshole to itself. like once i was born i was automatically destined to have a body that hates the preciously mentioned stuff and if i have too much of it my psoriasis kicks down the door and comes to torture my body and my mental state (but THANK GOD i'm not experiencing that rn and am in remission and asymptomatic of psoraisis)

and a ton of the foods i like are all made from things i can't eat because if i do give in and eat stuff with gluten, (however if i do eat a little then it seems to be fine... but still) it's literal torture and the foods i love are restricted to me because of my fucking condition

even when i want to find a snack in the pantry every one of them that i like contains something i can't eat

i know that it's better for me to stick to not eating it but i don't like it. i wanna go devour all the things i love regardless if they can trigger my disease, but then again if i do my condition will flare up and i'll go back to being in both physical and mental pain, and i never wanna go back to that hellhole again it's traumatizing

i wanna have a normal immune system dammit >:(

i think its clear on a narrative level that sam kept the revelation about the demon blood from dean for so long because (not only was it super inconvenient seeing as he died right after he found out and then he like immediately found out dean was gonna die) he is clearly deeply ashamed of it

I NEED to rant about the trigun stampede designs in comparison with trigun 1998 because like… they had so much potential and the show threw it out the window or something.

(Edit: i haven’t read the manga so the mole thing doesn’t stand much but, again, this is only compared to ‘98 so plss dont attack me guys i swear i liked stampede)

Tbh Knives/Vash bother me most, esp during their childhood. In tri98, they look almost identical at first, with only difference their hair color (Vash’s is more of a saturated blonde while Knives’ is closer bleach-blonde), and the mole under Vash’s left eye. Later on Vash get his hair cut and styled in spikes by Rem, while Knives takes liberty and cuts his own hair military-style. That’s about when they start to have individuality. This individuality reflects on their actions, with Vash trying to free a butterfly from a spiderweb, and Knives just killing the spider, thinking it's the most rational solution.

In tristamp, they lack any kind of individuality, with the twins having mirrored haircuts and Knives a mole under his right eye, which really really doesn’t make sense to me; I thought the mole was supposed to represent the flawed, more human nature of Vash (just like his scars), and the absence of it on Knives’ face to be a reminder that he is, for that reason, better, almost perfect and, most definitely, not human. (Edit: guys I’ve been informed it exists in the manga but I’d still like it if it didn’t)

With that they lose every kind of individuality, and it doesn't make sense for them to look so different while they're adults however having similar hairstyles despite not seeing each other for years.

(not even going to mention the fact that they made him dead pale in stampede and instead of increasing his melanin and making his hair lighter they lightened both skin and hair color but it's not relevant to this kind of analysis and just a stylistic choice i guess)

As adults in tri98 they keep their hairstyles and Knives keeps a more military-looking outfit, which looks a whole lot like the SEEDS outfit they wore when abandoning the ship, while Vash has this super over-the-top outfit with the red coat and all. Tristamp keeps the idea of Knives wearing a similar outfit and Vash going crazy with his fit, but by doing so they made both of them look insanely different and inhuman, Vash looking too clean, with technical, expensive-looking, new clothing, and Knives just straight up looking strange. Nothing about his outfit even suggests human.

For Knives I don't think the point is to look human, so it doesn't matter, but Vash is too odd-looking to be considered one of the humans, while his goal is just this; to look super cool but still human enough. In tri98 this communicates well, but not in tristamp.

(i couldn't find a pic of knives as a kid w the uniform but its the same as vash's)

Also, they're built so differently... Vash looks like a 17 year old kid and Knives looks over 25, their bodies should look the same (they're Plants after all) but with Knives being stronger in terms of power and skill, not having abs.

Basically the main problem is that the designs rely a lot on the aesthetics but not the practicality/lore-accuracy of them. I know tristamp is not meant to follow the original plot line, it just makes me a little insane how little the relationships between the characters were incorporated into these designs.

what does paul have against a-bo???

LITERALLY WHAT IM SAYING???? the problem with paul and something hes been critised for his whole coaching career is that he will always prefer to put in a vet over a young kid, especially vets hes worked with previously because he knows them better and newer kids have to go through trials and tribulations before he decides to start them regularly

it drives me mad because we're in need of a righty d so we can stop playing nate and kuli on their offsides. this isnt to say nate and kuli are bad on their offside theyve been holding down the mantle quite well it just its absolutely baffling that while ekky was out boqy shouldve stepped in (again) and at least run pp1, hes offensive, hes a puck mover and was just starting to gain chemistry with matthew and instead he was sat and put in like 1 back to back game and then tobi got called up.

im not mad at that decision i think tobi deserves to have more time to prove himself up with us but also youre best righthanded defenceman is out.. you decide to call up a lefty??? when boqy is right there??? and you have time to let him play out games and get used to the team (again)??? and you dont do that??? so now quite literally every pair has a lefty???? and you dont give him time to play and now ekkys back so now tobis down again and boqys back to being in jail???

the ideal here is that boqy slides up with mikksy because i think mikksy benefits from someone whos more offensively minded than he is (like monty was) while he hangs back at the blueline but i cant deny that his playstyle this season has really evolved where hes the dman whos jumping up more often in plays and joining rushes and the way he crowds the net is so very helpful and this due in large part to him adapating his play with kuli because last fucking season it was so notable how much the mikksy-kuli pair seemed to be too defensive and we're dragging each other down, and i was glad when monty came back because mikksy does benefit from a player like that. now it seems because of that its actually mikksy filling in the role of the more offensive dman with kuli because they have that chemistry now (not so much nate now because if i took a shot for the amount of times theyve taken each other out in plays because they havent had the time to properly establish their areas i think id be blackout drunk ofc the more time they play w eo the less of a problem that will be but when youre down ekky it looked not as good)

so now we have the conodrum of well the original plan of putting boqy up with mikksy kinda goes out the window because we realise how much the team benefits as a whole when mikksy gets on his horse and becomes a sometimes 5'10 winger, and you cant have two dman that are gonna be doing that... which is why when paul slotted in boqy he always put him with nathan. but that means uvis is out and you really dont want him out because he has great physicality and is also a puckmover so then youd be switching kuli nathan and uvis out which- 2 are vets, 2 have played for paul and-
