Personally, I love Alastor's haircut!

I just also get a kick out of its fandom label as his "fuckass bob".

I seriously hope a comment is made on it by the cast in S2, like how Adam's insult rant deteriorated into Alastor having "too much fucking red."

Whoever was the first to call Alastor's hair a "fuck-ass bob" is so iconic. It is a fuck-ass bob and I adore it.

Hahaha I love it when the creators make little call-backs like that. If someone in the show says "fuck-ass bob" when referring to Alastor's hair, I'm going to freak. That'd be amazing XD

Day 4: The bear car went over the mountain

For how hot it is later in the day, it gets cold when you're waking up around 6. It was good I packed several of Dixie's hoodies. And thanks to people checking out and leaving their leftover wood behind, we had abundant campfires both morning and night! Our camp host just called me MacGyver and told me I was welcome to whatever I could scrounge.

Took a drive to explore some backroads and hit up the grocery for more ice for the cooler. We passed a funny Zebra X-ing sign right below the typical signage about deer-- you might remember North Bend making the news a while back when four zebras broke free of their transport trailer en route to Montana. One eluded recapture attempts and ran loose in the area for 5 days. There were plenty of local sightings before she was safely caught again.

We checked out a couple charming little parks in town (hello wildflower fields) to let the pups stretch their legs, but soon it was too hot to safely walk them.

Then we decided to explore Garfield Peak and try out the 4-wheel drive and brake assist. SUPER bumpy ride.

The thing about our lovely wooded mountains is you get the elevation gain without necessarily ever finding a view. But, hey, at least it was only 84° in the shade!

Our campsite is mainly in the shade until midday or so, but then it's full sun for several hours.

It was still hotter than hell when we got back, so I dragged Dixie with me into the little moss hollow to finish out the afternoon where it was marginally cooler.

Foil pocket hamburger patties worked out pretty darn well on the campfire.

Lilith sighed softly, momentarily glancing out of her office before smirking and getting to work. She quickly folded a paper into an airplane and sent it gliding into the courtyard.

The paper airplane floated through the air until it gently tapped the Radio Demon on the ear. Upon unraveling it, neat handwriting read, "I hope you have an en-deer-ing day," with a kiss mark in the corner.

Alastor is in the courtyard currently having a coffee when a small paper airplane landed on his ear. When he read the note, he burst out into a cackle. Oh, he loves his mistress so much! Perhaps later he'll treat her to lunch where she can share all the deer puns she likes.

I think it's en-deer-ing!

The first special interest I can remember having is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It started at least when I was 4 and kept up for a few years around Christmas time. I was known in my family for being awesome and wearing fake antlers and light-up red nose.

I wonder though why it was my favorite in particular. Of course, it is about cute cartoon reindeer and a lot of fun characters but I wonder if I was empathizing with the message so that it was especially endearing (en-deer-ing haha) to me.

Although the film is outdated, the overall message about acceptance, self-love, and being proud of your strengths and differences holds up. Rudolph's non-standard appearance, Hermey's special interest, Yukon Cornelius' perseverance, Clarice's kind acceptance, abominable snowman's change of heart, and the other toys' eventual self-acceptance of their differences is all very positive and sweet!

Even the very poorly thought out message of "people suck, you don't need them, they will do things only for their own advantage" tells you to not accept others BS. Be vigilant for people who will take advantage of you and defend yourself. You don't need people who will bully and exploit you. You can be independent and forge your own path. Build a life in which you are accepted and if you are forced to take part in an exploitative society, don't bow to others but rather value yourself. This especially applies to mate crimes common in people diagnosed with asd.

In specific, both Rudolph and Hermey rebel against the world they live in. Hermey escapes from an abusive workplace. Rudolph defends himself among his peers and knows that his difference is not his fault, having no reason to be ashamed. These characters' motivation not to be deterred by their differences if very empowering.

It definitely holds a special place in my heart. I identify with the characters y'know, feeling like an outsider. I have no idea if I felt this way when I was little but I can't remember and wouldn't be surprised if I did. I've always been able to love and accept myself despite feeling isolated from peers, and perhaps my obsession with this movie taught me about it :). I take pride in being different and feel that people with differences, including myself, find so much love and confidence when us misfits are united. I feel less alone but also feel like I've found "my people" who I can really connect with on another level I can't with most people.

So he was basically banished to hell for being too inventive and happy? Well that was rough. But at least now he knew where Charlie got her personality, because when he met her mom he clearly didn't know how they could have been so different from each other. Lilith was scary to even him.

The phrasing Artemis uses in this exchange always has interested me, as characterizing the trap he set for Spiro as "hunt[ing]" is just as odd as it is (arguably) deliberate.

"Hunting" (in the sense that he is invoking it -- I am not speaking for modern game hunting practices) has the connotation of an active pursuit of one's prey, of the chase, of the capture.

Certainly, if we think of the goddess Artemis, the "hunt" takes on an "active" sense, with the hunter stalking after (and ultimately subduing) their quarry.

However, does "hunting" characterize Artemis' plan?

If anything, the events that transpire in the Spiro Needle are an intentional inversion of hunting. The plan is predicated on antagonizing Spiro's team into chasing after — indeed, hunting — Artemis & Co.; the idea being that Spiro would be allowed the illusion of having won after a pursuit that was orchestrated to go exactly in a way that would benefit Artemis. If it is a hunt, then, it is a hunt that ends by reversing the roles of hunter and prey. Through deception, deliberate isolation of Spiro from the allies that would make him strong, and magic designed to bend the minds of those at Fission Chips, the narrative places Spiro in a similar position that Artemis found himself in En Fin.

Hunter becomes hunted; the material world of man is bested by the fantasy world of the child; corporate chauvinism is made farce by previously-mocked androgyny. Up is down, and down is up.

Welcomes him with open arms (of course) 

Like with all new recruits he’ll be curious. Why would you leave the deer for his lions? Not that he’s complaining but boy is curious 

If Ignatz says it’s because of the unity among the lions, Dimitri will feel so humbled he may shed a tear

He’d most likely try his best to help Ignatz assimilate himself with the more...*cough* intimidating members 

11/10 most likely to talk up Dedue and recommend him as a friend 

He’s just very happy someone wants to join despite Felix being...well, Felix 

Dedue: 

Is neutral. He doesn’t know much about Ignatz as the boy doesn’t make his presence known

Dedue knows a good soul when he sees one. He had no reason to keep an eye on him aside from his talent with archery 

Feels prideful that his class is receiving new members. He may be enrolled because of his highness, but he still cares for his classmates to an extent  

which is hard sometimes because of certain people having their prejudices 

If his highness wants him to be involved in Ignatz’s transfer than he sees no issue 

Actually is the most likely to become fast friends with him next to Ashe and Annette 

He is likely to listen to Ignatz’s tangents about art with no interruptions. He finds it en”deer”ing (get it lol) 

Sylvain: 

Eh

Guys I hate to break it to you, but Sylvain doesn’t care 

He doesn’t know Ignatz, and beyond initial greeting he doesn’t really make an effort to learn beyond observation 

The most they communicate is when Sylvain tries to stop Felix from laying in to the poor lad 

He one time saw his art and suggested using it to get with ze ladies 

Ignatz of course got flustered, and Sylvain realized that he was too pure to screw with. Yet another fledgling taken in by his Professor

Knows damn straight that he has potential. Ignatz talks like a poet, snipes like an eagle, and charms people with his awkward banter. The guy is a serious threat 

Thinks he could be a good leader, and respects him. Sylvain just doesn’t feel the need to get too buddy-buddy 

Ashe: 

Instantly takes to him 

He’s so happy to see another archer...and another commoner 

Yes Annette worked her way to where she is but it’s different, you know? 

Felix, Ingrid, and Dimitri grew up together. Dedue has his place with Dimitri. Annette and Mercedes are best friends... 

Ashe has always felt a bit like the wallflower of his class, despite them all including him 

Ignatz is an outcast here. Ashe is so ready to show him the ropes and make a new friend 

He likes to hear about Ignatz’s family, both the good and the bad. They talk things that Ashe couldn’t normally discuss with his more blue-blooded classmates 

Felix: 

Won’t lie, he’s a bit annoyed. Just not for reasons you’d think

He’s pissed that someone who clearly doesn’t want to fight is in his class 

He thinks it’s a waste of talent, the boy clearly has a knack to become an assassin. He’s just not 100% there for it 

and Felix wants 120% if you get my drift 

Why did you come here if you’re not serious? The fake-it-till-you-make-it misfit crew was much better suited for an artist wearing armor 

He doesn’t warm up to him at all either. Not until after the reunion 

He just doesn’t want someone without a backbone or want for one fighting with him

Annette: 

She’s as excited as Ashe and definitely drags him around with Mercedes to get snacks

If Claude even t h i n k s about trying to steal him back she’ll be on him like butter to pancakes 

She gets so giddy when he asks for help catching up on new material. She loves to teach and is excited to have a new member of the team 

Definitely gives advise on choosing classes and what skills to work on 

She doesn’t care about why he joined, just that he likes it enough to stay 

May or may not bake him something as a welcoming gift
