So me and @wildissylupus were talking about when Cole Cassidy first joined Overwatch and how he taken from the Deadlock gang, he had a mouth like a sailor but moreover I like to think he's based off of Nicole from the class of 09

Where do you think Emre Sarioglu falls into the Overwatch found family?

Personally I see him as an older brother/cool uncle lol

Honestly I think he falls in the same place Gerard and Sojourn fall, basically being closely associated with the Old Guard while also technically being a Golden age member. So yeah in the idea of Overwatch's family dynamics he would definitely be an Older Brother/Cool Uncle, maybe even being a mentor to some characters but we can't really know for sure.

Also considering how he's shown in the photo from Ana's origin video it wouldn't surprise me if he was cocky bastard, defiantly likeable, but you don't pose for a photo like this with that kind of expression and not be a cocky bastard;

I honestly hope he becomes a playable character later on, especially since we now have mention of him in game through Sojourn and more info on his history through Overwatch; Declassified.

Speaking of that voice line, he joins with Sojourn and Torbjorn in the categories of "characters who actually planned to retire".

[DECLASSIFIED] After-Action Report: Operation “WHITE DOME”

SUBJECT: AFTER-ACTION REPORT, OPERATION ZX24AL, "WHITE DOME"

SUMMARY:

Strike team under the command of myself, CAPTAIN ANA AMARI, was deployed to the outskirts of Istanbul, Turkey to deal with the remaining pocket of omnic resistance. Personnel included Lieutenant Reinhardt Wilhelm, Chief Engineer Torbjörn Lindholm, and Private First Class Emre Sarioglu. After routine insertion, the team was ambushed, taking heavy fire from the entrenched omnics. While the team was able to overcome and neutralize all hostile combatants without casaulties, the battle resulted in serious injuries to Lindholm and lesser injury to Lt. Wilhelm. Had it not been for Lt. Wilhelm's timely intervention, it is likely that Lindholm would have been killed. Due to conspicuous bravery on the part of Lt. Wilhelm, I am suggesting a commendation for his actions.

People make a lot of “villain au” versions of characters but that recent art has made me think villain Efi would be the funniest.

God, you forget the stupid clickbait that came out when the character first appeared and we didn't even know Orisa was coming yet.

(Yeah, sure, man, literally demonize a small black genius child who would make absolutely zero sense as a villain--that doesn't make you look like a racist, deranged grifter at all.)

Though looking back, for all the shitty stuff that came with it (case in point above) I do miss the fact that the community would feverishly speculate on every single little lore tidbit and hint that dropped. Like, I remember when there were dozens of people trying to figure out what was the deal with Emre Sarioglu and making edits for "Operation White Dome" when that turned out to be a red herring teaser for Brigitte.

BUT DECLASSIFIED HAS GIVEN ME ANSWERS!!!

His name is Emre Sarioglu, he's a Turkish soldier and the first high profile person to be hired onto Overwatch after the Crisis. He's detailed as having a tactical mind and a gift for combat.

brigitte is adorable and lovely and has a great backstory and ties up the timeline of the lore and looks great gameplay wise and the fact she’s a hybrid tank/support is awesome and i wish i had pc so i could play her on ptr but i dont think anything will stop the twitching from not getting a turkish hero

Teaser of the Overwatch hero 28

The teaser seems to happen in King's Row, even though there's no activity - only a still shot of an alleyway with graffiti and posters.

This might be a sign regarding Hammond, that has been theorized as a fanatic because the launch of... Horizon Lunar Colony. That is an element of a near future, being constructed in distance. That said, ancient teasers for heroes may often be misleading. The first teaser for Brigitte really focused on Operation White Dome, the performance that resulted in Reinhardt's near fatal harm saving Torbjorn. While this teaser made its way to Brigitte finally, at first lovers theorized that the new personality Emre Sarioglu will be Hero 27. So yes, that which sounds really Hammond in the minute... but do not begin going to become a Hammond main rather yet.

What is also fascinating is that the teaser is a movie. There is no motion, but there's a subtle noise that mostly appears to be of town sounds or machines. Could this be just another hint as to our hero?

We are about because of Hero 28, and time will tell whether we are going to fulfill them... and if they are connected to Horizon Lunar Colony.

So with the season almost over and the next hero I believe to be teased as another support. Who do you think or hoping it will be? Personally I would like to see more characters from Oasis or Vishkar get some spotlight

Well there have been hints from the producers that there's a future hero associated with "The Collective" from the Esperança map. Basically in the lore The Collective is this organization that built a massive sea wall out of a new material called "Durovidro" (Hard glass). I mean it's map lore that's been unusually independent from much of Overwatch's other worldbuilding, but is still in line with Overwatch's themes as a whole. So it could easily just be kind of hand-wavey misdirection, kind of like Emre Sarioglu or the Orisa-Doomfist Switcharoo, or we could see a character that is attempting to return to the core of Overwatch's worldbuilding while also being kind of independent of all the Overwatch/Talon drama and thus open up the world *cough* Without worrying about answering old lore questions *cough*.

I feel like it's going to be a male character because 3/4 of the new characters we've seen have been female and I can see Blizzard wanting to try and get a better hold on younger male players while expanding options for the support class--kind of like how we saw Kiriko be a "Support for people who like playing Genji," as well as make the support class a bit more gender-neutral after Kiriko's addition. Plus with Ramattra being such an over-the-top charismatic antihero/villain, they can go in a lot of different directions that will still help the new hero feel distinct. I’d be really interested in seeing a disabled hero--Like, I mean Blizzard can keep slapping prosthetic limbs on people and that’s fine, but I’d be interested in seeing a futuristic wheelchair or some kind of cool full-body mobility frame.

>>Okay so having time to process this whole shebang, here’s my final verdict:

I don’t hate Hammond. I think it’s a cute concept, and Overwatch was made to be in the same vein of ludicrous characters as classic comics, everyone’s called a Hero after all and the characters were conceived as modern superheroes. But everyone saying that this is insulting to those who follow for the story and for character diversity are also valid. We have characters that have been teased like the Aboriginal Junker Queen, Turkish Private Emre Sarioglu, Chinese Liao, Indian Sanjay Korpal, Maximilien, these are just a few lore-focused heroes with unique cultures and engaging characterizations that could be added to further explore a universe Blizzard has continually locked away, and it’s exhausting. This game has become exhausting, and Hammond just seems to cement perceptions that the dev team isn’t taking this game seriously at all. 

I have a bad feeling this will turn into a Last Jedi for the fandom, but I’m hoping it won’t be that extreme. Regardless, as much as I think Hammond is cute, every time I see him I have a bitter taste in my mouth so I can’t see myself playing him in game or regarding him at all from a writing standpoint. 

Also footnote: I find it ironic that people are saying ‘so jetpack cat was too ridiculous but this isn’t, give us jetpack cat!’ as if yall didn’t enable this with torrents of fanart
