Mōn mission to Chugoku
The country of Mōn has long been a contender to the place of the heir of the Central Empire and first among the nations; and now, ruled by the iron grasp of the Tsuchikage, it has the strength to back that claim up. This envoy is a blatant display of strength and contempt for their neighbors, even if the members of it don’t like it.
Kadan Tsuchimikado, 25: scion of the strongest clan of Iwagakure and a distant relative of the Third Tsuchikage, she has not demonstrated the raw power that allowed him to counteract his disability and demand others’ respect, so she’s mostly left on the sidelines, to be used as a pawn in the dynastic games or as a not-so-covert insult to the neighboring nation.
Has achondroplasia; in addition to chronic back pain it caused frequent ear infections as a child that left her HoH on one side. Kadan uses discreet seals in her hairdo to mitigate that.
Specializes in onmyōdo and barriers – both creating and removing them, but is not much of an offensive fighter.
Has a lot of guilt tied up to the fact that she’s “useless“ in combat and to this day beats herself up for a mission gone wrong that cost one of her teammates (coincidentally, the one she had a crush on) their arm.
Sami, 21: a by-blow of a passing shinobi in Kurogane, aspired to become a samurai but turned rōnin instead; hired herself as a bodyguard for Iwa, and knows damn well that the part she plays in this game may well cost enough to provide for her mother and her family for a long time.
Eldest daughter in her family; enjoys and resents responsibility in equal measure.
Did not inherit the ability to mold chakra beyond the usual samurai skill, but did inherit the physical constitution.
The vambraces and shin guards are scavenged from an old skirmish site, but act as a visual indicator of her allegiance - or her skill in battle, depending on which is more useful at the moment.

@rarlkove made this absolutely phenomenal fanart drawing the similarities between Zane's Rebooted sacrifice and whatever the hell was going on at the end of season 12. And can I just say, I'm so glad I'm not the only person who sees it! Both scenes involve Zane having fatal amounts of energy channeled through him in ways that are clearly very painful. Which when you think about it just makes the Manifestation Gate incident that much worse, because it likely brought back a lot of unpleasant (and canonically traumatic) memories for him.
(I also talked about this in much greater detail a bajillion years ago, which you can find here)
So naturally I decided to make an edit paying tribute to both the idea and rarl's wonderful work! But in particular I wanted to highlight the way these scenes are so different, too. In Rebooted, Zane was willingly subjecting himself to this. This was a sacrifice made to save his friends, and he died smiling at a life well-lived. But in Prime Empire...that is. Not happening. With the Manifestation Gate incident, he doesn't have the luxury of dying with a smile on his face. To say the very least.
Warning, it's a bit rough around the edges, this is my first time experimenting with a different editing style. But still, I think it turned out alright! Could be better, but I'm satisfied with it considering I only spent a few hours on the darn thing.
(also rarl, dont worry about counting this as a dtiys entry, i just thought your art was kickass and felt inspired)

SAO Pride Week 2021 Day 5: Kirito x Eugeo
Interestingly enough, in terms of the original Light Novel version alone, I don’t think Kirito x Eugeo has the kind of concrete evidences to be considered as queer as much as Asuna’s consideration of Yuuki’s marriage proposal or Dakira’s canon love for Fanatio, aside from Kirito’s genuine thoughts & appreciation for Eugeo in his life (which all are removed in the anime adaptations) or Eugeo’s blushes whenever Kirito is being touchy-feely skinship around him. Yet it’s very much the 2nd popular ship in SAO Japanese fandom and also most popular non-canon ship among Japanese fans with a lot contributed fanarts on twitter & pixiv. From some old discussions on Japanese twitter back when the anime adaptation of Alicization Human Empire sub-arc aired, there are a few queer symbols attached to these 2 male characters which attracted some more “serious” mlm fans too:
1. In Japanese, a duel-wielding slang 両刀使い (ryoutou tsukai) also means “bisexual”:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: jisho dictionary, though you can search the word in any Japanese dictionaries and it will give the bisexual meaning.
Of course, this is not a firm statement that Kirito is bi or anything since there are other duel-wielding characters in other series who I don't think are bi. Though from a various viewpoints of Kirito’s bisexual fans whom I know personally, from canon story he usually treats his special skill very awkwardly instead of spamming it all over the series. He hides it a lot, he's awkward whenever someone asks him about it (Klein & Alice), he only uses it when it's truly necessary. But when Eugeo gave him the Red Rose Sword he's finally so determined to use it, adding with his LN monologue as how after a lot of denial, that’s when he's finally accept "Kirito the Black Swordman" and "Kazuto the mortal human" are the same person.
2. Rose (薔薇 - ”bara”) is a symbolic flower for gay relationships in Japanese culture (with Lily (”yuri”) as the equivalent symbol for lesbian relationships). In a number of anime, when two boys have rose background featured in their scene together, that interpretation might very likely show up in the Japanese audience’s head.
Tumblr media
Source: japanesewithanime
First of all, blue rose is Eugeo’s flower motif.
Tumblr media
Technically blue rose in Japanese language of flower means:   「夢かなう」(Dreams come true),「不可能」(Impossible),「奇跡」(Miracle),「神の祝福」(Blessing)
and usually Japanese media uses red roses more for the gay implication as red rose means  「あなたを愛してます」(I love you),「愛情」(Romantic love),「美」( Beauty )「情熱」 (Passion)  「熱烈な恋」(Feverish Love)
personally I think the technical meaning of blue rose fits Eugeo more and not the official implication of sexuality.
However, we do have a scene with Kirito & Eugeo being together in a red rose garden as the background. At first when I saw this scene I kind of found it very odd, surely rose flowers in UW are top magical and they can't just be grown anywhere besides the Church, but the scene had Eugeo specifically point out roses, and zoomed in the red roses, even though the rose itself wasn't used as magical items or anything in later fights and had no importance in the plot. Then when I read discussions on Japanese twitter I was reminded that red rose is the symbolism of male homosexual, the implication might fly over foreigners' head and casual viewers but Japanese fans of course noticed it. In fact, it's exactly after that episode that many new YujiKiri/KiriYuji Japanese fans and artists appeared.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In episode 24 (LN volume 14), Eugeo used his willpower to mend his broken sword with his blood, and the Blue Rose Sword turned into Red Rose Sword, which Eugeo gave to Kirito as a half of Kirito’s duel blades, Kirito accepted it and continued to use it in Underworld. Given that duel-wielding is also a Japanese slang for bisexuality, it gives a probable interpretation of deeper romantic symbolic layer than just what was shown on-screen as the act of a dying boy’s push to the living boy to move forward.

3. Merchandise tribute:
Tumblr media
On August 25th, 2020, the official team released an official pair ring necklace that composed of 2 rings with designs based on Kirito’s Night Sky Sword & Eugeo’s Blue Rose Sword.
Tumblr media
4. Game adaptations tribute:
- SAO Gameverse: After Alicization novel was published Eugeo is the only male character who keeps getting bed scenes with Kirito in SAO console games accompanied with CGs. You can watch the bed scenes here: Hollow Realization || Fatal Bullet || Alicization Lycoris
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- Alicization Rising Steel: In this semi-canon game, there are a few events that give out very intimate or even Unresolved Sexual Tension vibe between Kirito & Eugeo. You can watch these events here: Giving Back || The Bond Residing in My Sword || An Odd Feeling

Empire’s Tribute Fandom Wiki
Hey, empires tribute fandom! I set up a wiki for empire’s tribute which you can find here: empires-tribute.fandom.com. I thought it would be neat to keep an overview over the canon, but unfortunately, I have zero experiences running a wiki (I wanted to make pages for the eras but I think I made categories instead???) so if anyone here wants to edit it and help me structure it or add new pages, content, ideas, fanart or anything at all, that would be really cool!

Note
I think at some point we should just phase out the phrase “nonexistent fandom” and just stop telling people it’s fake. When people ask wtf empire’s tribute is we just look at them funny like “omg I can’t believe you haven’t read empire’s tribute?”
That would be mean.
I imagine them furiously googling it only to find more fanfics and wikis and fanart and no source until they eventually find the original post.

What is the joke?
The title of this post is a common question some people have asked in regard of “So You’re a Cartoonist?” and certain other comics quite a bit over the years, seeing how some strips tend to be often times centered around a very confusing meme or inside jokes Dobson heard about. Then there are also those that were never meant to be funny to begin with, as they are focused on Dobson soapboxing about criticism or what he considers is an issue in nerd culture you should be outraged about, cause otherwise you are a nazi.
And then there are “strips” like this one, published in early April 2014.
Tumblr media
And I just have to ask: Why does that even exist? Cause honestly, it is not even a joke. It is a butchered reference.
For those not aware what it references, here the short explanation:
In 1961 DC comic writer Gardner Fox, who among other things created Jay Gardner, the Golden Age DC comic Flash, wrote the comic “Flash of Two Worlds”. In this book, then current Silver Age Flash Barry Allen manages to vibrate his molecules at such a frequency, that he breaks through a dimensional barrier into a parallel earth called “Earth-2”. An alternate reality in which Jay Gardner, whose only a fictional comic book hero in Barry’s world, actually exists. But his days as the Flash have been over for years, having retired and married his girlfriend. However, with three of his old villains on the loose and Barry trying to find a way home, Jay decides to help The Flash, taking up the old costume again, leading to a team up between the heroes of two major time periods in comic history.
Tumblr media
This comic marks a major point in the development of DC comics in general. Not only was it a meta celebration/tribute of the Golden Age Flash who had been long replaced in the public eye by Barry Allen, its success led to DC eventually revitalizing a lot of their major but at that point retired Golden Age characters, by making them all part of the Earth-2 reality.
The concept of a parallel-earth next to the main heroes reality introduced in this story would also become the very foundation for the concept of the DC multiverse, starting with the JLA story “Crisis on Earth-One” in 1963, over time eventually leading up to the most defining DC crossover that ever came and one of the most important comic events in the history of superhero comics: Crisis of Infinite Earths from 1985.
Tumblr media
As of 2020, Flash of Two Worlds has been referenced in nerd culture a lot. Particularly the iconic cover has been referenced and parodied by many, including DC itself.
And yes, that cover is iconic. And why shouldn’t it be? Two Flashes, unaware of the other because of the “wall” (aka the dimensional barriere) trying to save someone, creating a certain suspense for the reader if the guy calling for help can be saved by either of the two speedsters before he is hit by the steel beam? Begging the question, how either of the two heroes may react when exposed to the other one? It is a genuinely suspenseful scene within just one pic, featuring the heroes of two generations of readers.
A pic that does however also lend itself for easy referential humor. All you need to do is just look for a franchise where something like alternate versions of main characters exist and replace them accordingly with the characters on the cover.
Here, have some fanart someone drew based on it of Sonic e.g.
Tumblr media
And now imagine what others could do by doing something like that with characters from Rick and Morty, the Marvel multiverse, Star vs., Super Sentai, Paper and Regular Mario… different possibilities are given. You can either make it just a “straight” alternate take of the cover with other characters, or you can poke fun of it by changing something in the pic up significantly (e.g. I could imagine a Rick and Morty parody simply having Rick on the left being too drunk to save him, while on the right he is just mumbling something about Morty not having to worry cause he can just revive him in a clone body).
But the “joke” also only works if a certain context is still given.
People need to be aware of what the pic is referencing overall (the Flash of two Worlds cover) but also of the fact that such alternate versions of characters on the pic exist within the franchise that replaces the Flashes. The Sonic pic e.g. works, because it shows both classic and modern Sonic as the heroes. Something we had seen able to coexist within Sonic Generations and Sonic Forces.
In Dobson’s take however, the joke falls flat because Dobson uses something that up until ONE sketch prior has not even existed before: Black Pam.
Tumblr media
For the record, this pic was released in late March 2014. You would now think that this picture existing was related to something like Dobson mocking critics of him for turning his self insert from a human into alternate universe Augustus Gummi all of sudden, by exaggerating changes in the designs of his other characters. But that can’t really be it, cause Dobson had turned himself into a furball of failure already for a year. He had also mocked the change in comics prior, as seen e.g. here.
Tumblr media
So, why does “Affirmative Traction” as the one with Pink Dobson and Disco Pam is titled, exist? And by the way, I don’t like to call Black Pam racist, cause she could be way more stereotypical, but you really didn’t need to go Cola Light Disco blacksploitation with her design, Dobson.
But back to “Pam of Two Worlds”; As said, the joke with “two Pams” doesn’t really work, cause one of them is essentially a non entity and could also just be replaced with any other race or gender swapped version Dobson could have thought off. Furthermore, why is Dobbear calling for help exactly? Because a copy pasted tradepaperback of X-Force, likely drawn by Liefeld, is going to hit him on the head? I know it is just meant to be a joke and not something to think of too much, but the thing about jokes is, they too need to make a certain amount of sense and have a certain logic to them in order to work. This doesn’t really work because the “danger” is 150 pages of distillated 90s Marvel trash going to hit him on the noggin.
As long as it is not thrown from the Empire State Building, I doubt it can be any danger to Dobson. In fact, if he really wanted to draw something from which the Pams of two strips could save him, it should have been a spray water bottle. At least then the majority of people on the internet would get the joke.

1. ( ALIAS / NAME ) ——   Rachel, but everyone here started calling me Ray and I adore that I have a special nickname now, also it kinda matches with Kay and that makes me happy. I also enjoy it being more gender ambiguous. :]
2.  ( BIRTHDAY ) ——  June 17th
3.  ( ZODIAC SIGN ) ——   Gemini
4.  ( HEIGHT ) ——    5′5″
5.  ( HOBBIES ) —— writing, singing, drawing, used to do cosplay, walking my pups, hiking, weightlifting/calisthenics (but that’s been pretty sidetracked lately), playing JRPGS.
6.  ( FAVORITE COLOR ) ——    Purple
7.  ( FAVORITE BOOKS ) ——    Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury, Doubt: A Parable - John Patrick Shanley, The Once and Future King - T.H. White, The Scarlet Letter - Nathaniel Hawthorne (every time someone says they hate it I cry a lil, ngl)
8.  ( LAST SONG LISTENED TO ) —— I have my Briar playlist on rn. Empire - Beth Crowley
9.  ( LAST FILM OR SHOW WATCHED ) ——  World of Dance
10.  ( INSPIRATION FOR MUSE ) ——   See Khristle’s answer, for real. lmao. Post Vol 7 Qrow takes were so infuriating to me. (no one here, if I’m following you, you’re so valid. I’m talking tag/fndm in general). Fanart Woobified him. Other people clung to the cartoonish drunk shenanigans and made him an asshole 24/7 completely missing (imo) that a lot of that was an act for different reasons. I hated people saying “oh I get it! the scarecrow’s gonna lose his mind over Clover!!!” when I think it’s pretty obvious the scarecrow loosing his brain is referring to his alcoholism, and he FINALLY GETS IT BACK in Vol 7. sigh. I did like that we got to see a softer side and him going sober in Vol 7 and that made me fall in love with him, it rounded out the character a lot and made me see some deeper things about him. So I part made the blog out of spite to put my own portrayal out there. I also wanted to explore alcoholism a little bit, help me see from the perspective of someone falling into it and overcoming it. It’s also in tribute to someone I lost to alcoholism.
11.  ( STORY BEHIND URL ) —— I'm a slut for double/triple/quadruple entendre. The word “flight” can be applied to Qrow a lot of different ways. Full explanation in my promo, check it out and reblog if you like :3c. Also this blog was made to tell his story, so calling it his flight felt appropriate. I hadn’t actually heard it at the time, but I later found the song Fight of the Crow, and it’s suitable so I think of that too now.

What would you consider the best balance between control and freedom, in terms of between the creator and the fans of the work?
Sega seems to have struck a pretty okay balance. They crack down on people selling shirts and stuff (I had it happen to me) but they’ve been pretty hands off when it comes to fangames and whatever else.
That’s what has bugged me about the times Nintendo shuts things down – in a lot of cases, these are fans paying tribute to their favorite Nintendo characters and franchises, and Nintendo’s response is to slap them around like “HOW DARE YOU TOUCH OUR STUFF”
Yet, you go back to something like Donkey Kong Country Exposed, where it shows inside the Nintendo of America offices in and around The Treehouse, and they have a wall of fanart.
I’ve been saying for years that there’s no difference. Fan media manifests itself in different ways, and Nintendo’s viewing of fangames is seriously outdated.
But, at least so far, Sega seems to be doing it right. Microsoft, too, to an extent. Microsoft has a page on their website that is a straight up legal document outlining how it is okay to make fangames and fanart and whatever else for Microsoft Studios games as long as they aren’t sold for money and aren’t openly theft.
And even then, there are special cases like Roosterteeth where they literally built a sizable media empire on a Halo fan series because Bungie and Microsoft took them under their wing. Red vs. Blue is basically official Halo material now.

Kiri delegation to Konoha
After the last civil war has left the Mist Village in shambles, the new Mizukage resorts to novel means to secure its borders – like diplomacy. Unfortunately, Kiri nin are not exactly skilled in that regard... So they’ll just have to wing it.
Teru Ikeda, 28, special jōnin: the acting ambassador to Konoha, has approximately zero diplomatic skills but a) Mist is too short on active ninjas at the time and b) her father was a diplomat so she can do it too, right?
Child of disgraced parents, tried too hard to earn her place in the village and crashed and burned for that; now puts her trust only in her former teammate Mei.
Used to be in ANBU & specialized in covert missions, spent the majority of the WWIII on one such mission in Konoha, which... is not a point in her favor now.
Extremely stilted; internalized early on that being a shinobi means suppressing your emotions, so she’s a Molotov cocktail waiting to happen.
Quiet and soft-spoken due to an early injury, but don’t let it fool you: she likes being rude when she can get away with it.
Sees her new team more in terms of their information-gathering uses than as an actual teaching position for her, which is a wilful misunderstanding on her part.
Tōma Umeboshi, 13, genin: she’s a horrible little beast and she’s out to cause a ruckus! Kenji’s fraternal twin, in possession of an overpowering personality of the “murderous sunshine“ kind.
She and her brother are probably the most well-adjusted Kiri nin out there, but that’s still not what Konoha people are used to...
Her practical jokes can sometimes be dangerous to herself and others, but she means well in general, and will fiercely defend anyone she feels is treated unjustly.
Adopted Kaede on sight; Kaede did not get a say in this.
She’s got a PINK SWORD and she knows how to USE IT!!!11
Kenji Umeboshi, 13, genin: he’s content playing second fiddle to his sister in their exploits and may pretend to be put-upon, but it will be a big fat lie: he enjoys causing trouble just as much.
Aspires to be a medic & is the most excited to stay in Konoha in hopes of doing some Research.
Third in line to the position of the Head of the Umeboshi family due to sudden changes in the family tree; under a lot of pressure to behave in a dignified way because of that.
Theoretically, knows how to erase a human body (theoretically).
Kaede Shimizu, 14, genin: perpetually anxious and always trying to figure out how to most effectively stay out of trouble – no easy feat with teammates like that.
Graduated the Academy early but was never assigned a team before due to the then-ongoing civil war.
Used to help her mother with her two little brothers when their father went nukenin, now worries a lot about them.
Still trying to live up to her father’s exacting expectations even as she’s trying to distance herself from him.
Sute, 43, ANBU captain: Teru’s one-time ANBU mentor; Tōma and Kenji’s mother, though they have a distant and awkward relationship. A tacit defender of the Bloody Mist regime who now has to come to terms with the changes brought on by the new Mizukage.
A foundling, grew up in the Kiri orphanage; part of her defense of the Bloody Mist is that it afforded low-caste shinobi like her a path to advancement and honor.
Extremely skeptical but also somewhat appreciative of the Mizukage’s efforts to abolish the caste system – one of the few things she finds praiseworthy.
Has many... ambivalent feelings towards her own motherhood and the role the village played in it.

When I heard the news, I knew I ought to draw some kind of tribute. The original plan was to draw Techno as a big, cool pig with a sword being a big, cool pig with a sword, as that's what the man himself said he likes and I always have fun drawing it.
But the day I drew this, I woke up thinking about all the kids and teens who looked up to Techno. No doubt many are mourning a loss for the first time, and no doubt many more are surrounded by adults who don't get or look down on YouTubers, let alone Minecraft YouTubers (I know many older adults in my life were not very supportive when I did fanart for the original MCYT fandoms, and it wore on me even though I was legally an adult myself by then). Then I realized, this fanart isn't for Techno. And I can always draw more Techno fanart for myself. Right now, I need to draw for those kids.
So came this idea. It's Techno reading a webnovel (fun fact: Internet personas read webnovels as books) surrounded by good memories he made for us. I figured the background objects would make folks pause to try to identify each one and where they came from, briefly interrupting any sad thoughts or doomscrolling. While I can't take away all of everyone's sadness and have no desire to deny anyone their feelings, I drew this to encourage folks to remember what Techno gave us, and maybe revisit the videos represented here. A little psychically induced self-care, if you will.
The intended meaning of each object is listed below the cut, but feel free to apply your own interpretations!
Take care of yourselves, folks ♥
Potatoes: the Great Potato War
Diamond sword: the weapon of choice in 1.8 PVP
Emerald: an idea shamelessly stolen from Philza's build to represent the Friendship Emeralds Techno gave him on DSMP
TNT block: mostly TNT Run, but not limited to it
Steering wheel: when Techno beat Minecraft with a steering wheel controller (and attempted to win Minecraft Monday week 1 with the steering wheel, but couldn't get it to work)
Purple Panda: the MC Championship 4 team made up of Techno, Wilbur, Phil, and Tommy that got all of them their first MCC win
Brick: like the horse
Wither skull: MCM week 6's chaotic Build Battle and Techno's wither skull collection on DSMP
Flags: an anarchist flag for DSMP!Techno and an Antarctic Empire flag for SMPE!Techno
Bell: hit that subscribe button
Gift: Grinch Simulator, namely the time he played against Skeppy that resulted in the most famous use of the phrase "The second worst thing to happen to those orphans"
Space ship: Techno's default answer in Hypixel's Guess the Build
🐷👑🗡️💖

I have had this drawn since Carrie died but haven’t had a chance to finish it . She was an inspiring woman and I am glad I lived in a time that had her in it.
I haven't posted anything in so long. I barely have any time to finish anything at the moment and the time I do have is spent on final fantasy and battlefield 😭
I regret drawing it on the paper I used. I should have used my acrylics paper but maybe I’ll redo this in time.
PLEASE DO NOT REPOST!
