US says Coronavirus can’t be controlled. China aims to prove it wrong - Times of India

NEW YORK: The United States is hitting records in daily coronavirus cases. But China, the country first afflicted with the scourge, is having a different experience. Unlike the Trump administration, which has said it is prioritizing opening the economy while essentially giving up on controlling the pandemic, China moved aggressively to stop the virus. The result: China’s economy is growing, and life there is returning to a semblance of normal, while the United States is struggling with a third wave of infections and the prospect of new restrictions. Economic growth in China has surged, hitting 4.9% in the latest quarter, and consumer spending has slowly started to recover. Residents are once again flocking into malls, bars, concert halls and hair salons, while schools, subways and offices are crowded. China has effectively sealed off its borders from the outside world and doubled down on efforts to eradicate the virus. When a crop of cases emerges, the government swiftly shuts down vast areas and quickly tests millions of people to help keep local transmissions near zero. China’s authoritarian government has the ability to act in a way that democracies that must be accountable to the public cannot. But it has demonstrated that the way to open the economy is to first safeguard public health. Read the full article

July 7, 1937 On July 7,1937 the Marco Polo Bridge Incident took place between the Chinese national army of the Republic of China and the Japanese army of the empire of Japan.the incident took place after Japan place their Manchukuo puppet state with this tensions were getting higher between China and Japan especially with the 15,000 Japanese troops were stationed in the railways in Beijing and Tianjin. During the day if July 7 a Japanese solider wonder off in Chinese territory so the Japanese general station in China ask permission to go look for him but was refused so he ended up firing with Chinese forces and by the night Japanese troops were trying to breach Wanping's walled. 100 Chinese reinforcements commanded by Song Zheyuan and Mayor of Beijing Lieutenant General Qin Dechun were force of 5,600 Japanese commanded by Kanichiro Tashiro. During the small fighting the Chinese lost 4 men while there's a unclear number of Japanese losses, after the incident China apologize to Japan for it also it told the Japanese government that they would suppress the communist in the area to prevent any future incidents. Also this incident gave fired to the start of the second Sino-Japanese war.

Anticipating enormous casualties if they invaded, the US attempted to shock the Japanese into surrender by using their secret weapon - the newly invented atomic bomb. Onboard the battleship was a Japanese delegation signing an Instrument of Surrender (picture 2) after the atomic bombings of Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and years of constant war.
