one thing i love about nahri, shannon and the daeva trilogy is how she isn't described as automatically beautiful. each man who described nahri as beautiful were only truly stuck by her beauty after spending, a shit ton of time with her. like when dara, muthadir, and alizayd first meet her, they aren't like "oh wow, shes striking and gorgeous and i need her, want her, or i will be destroyed"

they understood her as a person, saw her ferociousness and only then was her beauty evident. and i just like that so much, its so important for leads to be not be drop dead gorgeous like Aelin or Inej or Zoya.

Mare, Nahri and Alina hold a special place in my heart for not being societally correct and physically first sight gorgeous gorgeous girls but still standing up for themselves and having their own stories both love and personal.

February Wrap-Up/ Reviews! (A little late I know!) and all three books I finished in February were buddy reads (I have been buddy reading with the same person since last year and I’m so happy I’ve been able to experience these worlds and characters with her!) Empire of Gold~ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved this story from start to bittersweet end. And I loved and hated characters and this couldn’t have been a more perfect way to complete this series! River of Silver~ Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I am knocking this one down one star only because I would have loved to have seen a POV from Nahri’s father. But overall, I genuinely loved reading this book we got a nice update after what happened from Empire of Gold and a few past POVs as well. The series for me is a 5! Chakraborty Kingdom of Copper is probably one of my favorite reads this year. The storytelling is so much better from the first book, primarily because the world has been laid out. While the first book was world-building and characterization, this second book is full of power play, politics, and questions on morality. It sometimes reminded me of Game of Thrones. There is also a character who is painted to be the savior but I only see them as a tyrant in the making. When I finished this book, I kept thinking what rating to give and if there is anything I didn’t like to make me deduct points.
