it's so crazy to me to look at people's letterboxd accounts and see that they've watched 50+ movies this year. that's insane, how do you even find 50 movies you enjoy enough to watch fully. I know that sounds dumb because there's soooo many but to me it's mind boggling. I think I watched like 5 this year. Anyway I want to watch more movies next year

For the past several years I've made what I've called "The Grid" which is basically just a grid of yearly favorites as a fun overview of what I was up to that year (I stole the idea from @funnyfroge). I used to post them on twitter but I thought it might be fun to post it here, so here's my favorites grid for 2024! It's not relegated to media that came out in 2024, but just anything I encountered for the first time in 2024 and fell in love with. Also 2024 in particular was extremely Movie-Heavy for various reasons so the outer border is a dedicated Movie Ring, haha.

it's so funny the amount of disparate circumstances that converged in 2024 that led me to seeing a crazy amount of movies this year...it'll be fun to finally get my letterboxd wrapped and see the entire breakdown. probably would be fun to do a journal spread about it too

i need to stick up for the people who like the dark because all i've seen on here is complaining that the sun sets at 5pm. do you know how good it feels to go out after work and the sun is not in your fucking eyes as you walk everywhere??? also i'm finally not immediately drenched in sweat after 30 seconds of being outside. it's finally the time to thrive!!

was going to make a post along the lines of how i really don't understand everyone's extreme enthusiasm about signing up for a social media website that just newly launched, specifically around the time twitter was first declining and bluesky/threads/cohost popped up...like for me, any social media platforms i currently have accounts on, i joined after several years of them being established. but then i remembered when facebook first came out and how people were so enthusiastic about signing up for facebook so it occured to me that i might just be an outlier
