Welcome to the HOT JANE AUSTEN MEN bracket! Submissions for the Austen Silver Foxes Tournament are now open!
Voting on all the HOTTEST Jane Austen Gentlemen and Rakes from all the many TV and Film Jane Austen Adaptations ended earlier this year and after nearly two months of voting we have our Winner! Thank you everyone for taking part and all your propaganda now send me some for the old men!
All polls—including ongoing polls, previous rounds, mini ask polls—can be found in the #hotjaneaustenmenpoll tag. The Silver Fox Tournament will be tagged #janeaustensilverfoxes Every poll in the Hot Jane Austen Men Tournament is tagged with the hot regency man and the year his adaptation was made if you need to search for a hot man in particular.
FAQs:
"Will there be a Hot Jane Austen Women Tournament?" Yes! My aim is to start late September/early October baring any disasters - the Jane Austen Men Poll lasted about two months in the end (and I think the women may end up longer) so I thought it would be nice to bookend the year! This will also give me a break between this and the silver foxes poll.
"Can I submit hot Jane Austen men?” If it's for the Silver Fox Tournament - Yes! Fill out the google form here (or send me an ask and I may consider it too)
“I have additional propaganda for the hot men!” Great! Send me an ask, tag me in gifsets, fancams etc or reblog the poll and add your propaganda to it. Also feel free to send in any book propaganda!! I'll try to boost as much propaganda as possible
If you’re submitting propaganda for your hot man, I don’t accept propaganda that is of the actor outside of their Specific Jane Austen Adaptation but I do accept propaganda from them in their respective books. I would love to be tagged in gifsets and fancams, and I'd like to boost propaganda that tells us why your Jane Austen man is your favourite :)
I won’t post or boost negative propaganda. If you really hate that a certain hot man is winning, send me positive propaganda for their hot opponent. I may make exceptions if your propaganda is of another Austen character bad mouthing him though...
Why is the propaganda so uneven on this poll? To stay impartial I only add propaganda to the main poll that has been sent in before each round's polls open. If you submit any after then I will reblog or post and add to the winner's propaganda in the next poll. If it's uneven it's because you never sent any in, not because I'm being biased.
“Where is [my favourite Jane Austen man]?” Have you checked all the polls in the tag? Have you done a tag search for him? Only some of the actors are tagged but if you search for his adaptation and the year he was in it you should find him! If you still haven’t found him, he probably isn't in this poll.
“WHERE ARE THE HOT JANE AUSTEN MEN. I want to see all the hot men competing in one place!" -
The Final , Third Place Poll ,Semi-Finals ,Quarter-Finals ,Round Three Master List , Round Two Master List , Round One Master List
“Who was included in the original tournament ?” We started with 64 opponents readied their duelling pistols to defend their own hotness! I included men from Pride and Prejudice 1940/1995/2005, Sense and Sensibility 1971/1995/2008, Emma 1996/1996/2009/2020, Northanger Abbey 2007, Persuasion 1995/2007/2022 and Mansfield Park 1983/ 1999/2007 as well as a couple from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, one from Sanditon and one from Love and Friendship/Lady Susan. Most are the main hero/anti-heroes but there are a few others scattered in too.
Have you included Spin Offs ?”  In the Silver Foxes Poll - Yes! However the only strictly none Jane Austen adaptation in the original poll were from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies because it is set in the correct time period, the characters are basically the same in terms of personality and I thought the casting was great! In terms of Sandition, Sidney Parker is the only man I have entered as he is mentioned in the book as well as the TV so sadly as much as I love the other Sanditon Men they aren't included!
"How have you paired up the men ?" I did start to try and vaguely seed the men but I will be honest I did get a bit slap dash towards the end which means a couple of the match-ups are maybe a bit too even but fun I hope!
If I see repetitive, trolling, and/or bigoted remarks in the comments, I may block you from this bracket. If you want to point out a hot man’s flaws or misdemeanours, that’s fine, but if I see consistent bad-faith trolling, you will be blocked.
On that note—if you have an issue with a poll, offer a solution! I'll do my best to keep the poll happy and fun, and I'll block people being dicks. If you don’t like a poll photo or a description, offer one I can use instead.
“My FAQ isn’t on here :(” send me an ask! I'd love to hear from you guys—just please check these basics first.
Thank you for being here! Enjoy the tournament.
And Thank You @hotvintagepoll for the inspiration!

'No,' he calmly replied, 'there is but one married woman in the world whom I can ever allow to invite what guests she pleases to Donwell, and that one is –'
'Mrs. Weston, I suppose,' interrupted Mrs. Elton, rather mortified.
'No –  Mrs. Knightley; and, till she is in being, I will manage such matters myself.'

Inspired by @thatscarletflycatcher's list of actors who have appeared in multiple Jane Austen adaptations, I've made a list of actors who have appeared in two or more adaptations of Brontë novels. I've covered all three of the sisters' books and included radio dramas as well as screen and stage adaptations.
*Timothy Dalton played Heathcliff in the 1970 Wuthering Heights film and Rochester in the 1983 Jane Eyre miniseries.
*Toby Stephens played Gilbert Markham in the 1996 Tenant of Wildfell Hall miniseries and Rochester in the 1983 Jane Eyre miniseries.
*Tara Fitzgerald went from playing Toby Stephens' love interest to playing his love interest's childhood abuser – Helen Graham in the 1996 Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Mrs. Reed in the 2006 Jane Eyre.
*John Duttine holds the distinction of having played both Heathcliff and Hindley Earnshaw in different Wuthering Heights adaptations: Hindley in the 1978 miniseries, Heathcliff in the 1995 radio drama.
*Amanda Root played Catherine Earnshaw in the 1995 Wuthering Heights radio drama and (showing her versatility) Miss Temple in the 1996 Jane Eyre film, as well as narrating the 2004 Naxos audiobook of Jane Eyre.
*Emma Fielding is heard in both the 1995 and 2018 radio dramas of Wuthering Heights: as Catherine Linton in 1995 and as Nelly Dean in 2018. She also narrates the 1996 Naxos audiobook of Jane Eyre.
*Geoffrey Whithead played St. John Rivers in the 1973 Jane Eyre miniseries and Mr. Linton in the 1995 Wuthering Heights radio drama.
*Jean Harvey appeared in both the 1973 and 1983 Jane Eyre miniseries: as Mrs. Reed in 1973 and as Mrs. Fairfax in 1983.
*Judy Cornwell played Nelly Dean in the 1970 Wuthering Heights and Mrs. Reed in the 1983 Jane Eyre.
*David Robb played the Count de Hamal in the 1970 Villette miniseries and Edgar Linton in the 1978 Wuthering Heights miniseries.
*Bryan Marshall played Gilbert Markham in the 1968 Tenant of Wildfell Hall miniseries and Dr. John Graham Bretton in the 1970 Villette miniseries.
*Sarah Smart played Catherine Linton in the 1998 Masterpiece Theatre Wuthering Heights, and Carol Bolton, the female Heathcliff character, in the 2002 TV film Sparkhouse, a modernized, gender-flipped retelling of Wuthering Heights.
*Holliday Grainger played Lisa Bolton, the female Hareton/Linton composite character in Sparkhouse, and Diana Rivers in the 2011 Jane Eyre film.
*Sophie Ward played Isabella Linton in the 1992 Wuthering Heights film and Lady Ingram in the 2011 Jane Eyre.
*Morag Hood played Frances Earnshaw in the 1970 Wuthering Heights and Mary Rivers in the 1983 Jane Eyre.
*Angela Thornton played Isabella Linton in the 1958 TV Wuthering Heights and Blanche Ingram in the 1961 TV Jane Eyre.
*Jean Anderson played Nelly Dean in the 1963 TV version of Wuthering Heights and Mrs. Maxwell in the 1968 Tenant of Wildfell Hall.
*Barbara Keogh played two unpleasant Brontë maidservants: Zillah in the 1978 Wuthering Heights and Miss Abbot in the 1997 TV film of Jane Eyre.
*Norman Rutherford played the lawyer Mr. Green in the 1978 Wuthering Heights and Sir George Lynn in the 1983 Jane Eyre.
*Anna Bentinck narrated the 2015 Dreamscape Media audiobooks of both Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights.
*Janet McTeer played Nelly Dean in the 1992 Wuthering Heights film and reprised the role as co-narrator of the 2006 Naxos audiobook (she reading Nelly's narration, David Timson reading Lockwood's).
*Edward de Souza played Mr. Mason in two different adaptations of Jane Eyre: the 1973 miniseries and the 1996 film.
Adding Brontë family members and friends into the mix:
*Ida Lupino played Isabella Linton in the Lux Radio Theatre's 1939 adaptation of Wuthering Heights based on the 1939 film, and Emily Brontë herself in the 1946 film Devotion.
*Chloe Pirrie played Emily Brontë in the 2016 TV film To Walk Invisible and Catherine Earnshaw in the 2018 Wuthering Heights radio drama.
*Ann Penfold played Polly Home in the 1970 Villette miniseries and Anne Bontë in the 1973 miniseries The Brontës of Haworth.
*Gemma Jones played Mrs. Fairfax in the 1997 Jane Eyre and Elizabeth Branwell in the 2022 film Emily.
*Richard Kay played William Weightman in The Brontës of Haworth and Lockwood in the 1978 Wuthering Heights.
*Megan Parkinson played Catherine Earnshaw in the 2015 Ambassador Theatre stage adaptation of Wuthering Heights and Martha Brown in To Walk Invisible.
*Susan Brodrick played a barmaid in The Brontës of Haworth and Mary Rivers in the 1973 Jane Eyre.
I'm sure there are plenty more, but this list is long enough for now.

Starting my Jane Austen adaptation marathon with Emma 2020 (thanks @districtunrest for the suggestion).
Tumblr media
General notes:
I can't get over the casting of Bill Nighy as Mr. Woodhouse. He just seems too spry compared to others I've seen.
It seems like Frank Churchill in this adaptation is mid-level asshole-ery. 2009 TV adaptation is full on asshole-ery, while 1996 Frank is only slightly asshole-ish (or maybe I just can't make a Ewan McGregor role an asshole).

Thank you for the tag, @baqsy!
rules: list your 5 all time favorite films and have people vote on which one matches your vibe!
It's much easier for me to name my favorite TV series than movies! But I really love Quentin Tarantino's films (all his work in general) and Kevin Smith's films, here I just picked my favorites from their works. Also Bill from "Kill Bill" is... My childhood crush lol
So choose one for me or just your favourite
tagging @gilveciy @pyro-madder @swallowtail-ageha @heraldofcrow and everybody who wants to try!

Tumblr media
Oi oi oi, booklovers!
Emma Woodhouse, bonita, inteligente e rica.
Bjs e boas leituras (filmes tbm) <333
