I think the basement scene with emily will actually always break me every single time I watch it play out, like imagine how emily felt when mike, a person whom she once loved and actually reconciled with during the VERY FIRST chapter, pointed a gun at her. threatening to shoot her if she didn't willingly leave the basement to probably get herself eaten alive by cannibalistic monsters, I can only imagine the betrayal she must have felt; the fear too, it shatters my heart because her and jess are very misunderstood as characters

that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I have not yet shot emily even if I still have to earn that stupid trophy you get for shooting her. 😀

So here’s the idea…

✿ Hotchniss … but make it pride and prejudice

✿ I’m more of a love hotchniss in the modern fbi canon world so would prefer a modern retelling, but you could go full blown hotchniss in the p&p regency au

✿ Now, you are set up for this beautifully with Emily’s intro in season 2 - Hotch judging her because of her mom/background, the way he doesn’t seem to like her or trust her at first like how Mr D is at the beginning and then BAM Hotch turns up at her door for “I want you on that plane with me” which could be like Mr D’s “I love you most ardently” 🥲

✿ So obvs Hotch = Mr Darcy because he’s serious and brooding and never smiles and loves Em but hides it because of ✨ appearances ✨

✿ Em is therefore obviously Lizzie but less bland and more rebellious (sorry not sorry) - super clever and looooves books (a headcanon for Emily but also a hill I will die on)

✿ Erin Strauss is obviously the bitchy great aunt who disapproves

✿ You could include a bingley and a Jane but also you could not (I think they’re boring soz)

✿ Now, I’m not one for writing the characters as actual family - I’m more found family vibes always and too much of the family stuff can feel forced and makes me cringe a little - BUT you could do Dave as Mr Bennett and Em, JJ and Penelope as his daughters if you committed to going full P&P with regency vibes

✿ Or, if you’re rooting the au in the FBI canon world, you could have Elizabeth embarrassing Em at work and Hotch judging to get the cringey family that leads to the prejudice element

Anyway I’m almost defs not going to write this because I NEED to edit and upload chapter 3 of exposure (still in my drafts 🙃) and I’m v tired and babies take up lots of time, especially when they don’t nap!! But someone should!!
