Upcoming series: Ena
In September, the filming of Ena began, a biographical series that will focus on the life of Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg, queen of Spain through her marriage to Alfonso XIII between May 31, 1906 and April 14, 1931, after being the monarchy deposed later by the proclamation of the Second Republic. Great-grandmother of the current king Philip VI of Spain, of whom she was godmother at his baptism. Throughout six chapters, the series will tell the life of Victoria Eugenie and at the same time offer a portrait of a time that changed the world, the first half of the 20th century, from 1905 to 1945. Born on October 24, 1887 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, Ena was the daughter of Henry of Battenberg and Princess Beatrice, youngest daughter of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Her godmother was Eugenia de Montijo, empress consort of France as Napoleón III's wife. The name of the series comes from what her friends and family called her since she was little, Ena.
The fiction is based on the novel of the same name by Pilar Eyre. Javier Olivares, who was behind the acclaimed Isabel and El Ministerio del Tiempo, will be the showrunner and plot manager for Ena. In addition to Olivares, the script is written by Isa Sánchez, Daniel Corpas and Pablo Lara Toledo. The series will be directed entirely by women: Anaïs Pareto, director of the series as a whole, in addition to four episodes, and Estel Díaz, who will direct two episodes.
“Ena is the portrait of historical moments that seem distant but are not so far away, because without them we would not understand the times we live in now,” Olivares declares in the press release sent by TVE. The writer and screenwriter remembers that Victoria Eugenie “fought to be happy in a bitter time, in which she witnessed two world wars, a civil war and a great pandemic, the tortuously called Spanish flu.”
For Pilar Eyre, author of the novel, she was "an extraordinary woman: cultured, supportive, liberal-minded, modern and very loyal." And she is excited because "finally all Spaniards can know" the story of a "misunderstood" woman. in their time, which they will always consider foreign." It is a fiction co-produced by RTVE with Ena La Serie AIE, La Cometa TV and Zona App. José Pastor, director of Film and Fiction at RTVE, has pointed out that "it is a "RTVE is proud to be able to portray this interesting historical character, from the point of view of two women directors and with Javier Olivares as showrunner, in one of its best series."
The Spanish actress of Anglo-Danish descent Kimberly Tell will play Ena and Joan Amargós will play Alfonso XIII. For her part, Elvira Mínguez will play Maria Christina von Habsburg-Lothringen, mother of Alfonso XIII. The cast is completed by Lucía Guerrero (Beatrice of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha), Raúl Mérida (Alfonso of Orleans and Bourbon), Juan Gea (Álvaro Figueroa y Torres, Count of Romanones), María Morales (María del Carmen Angoloti y Mesa, Duchess of Victoria), Pedro Mari Sánchez (Rodrigo de Saavedra y Vinent, Marquis of Villalobar), Luisa Gavasa (Eugenia de Montijo) and Joaquín Notario (José de Saavedra y Salamanca, Marquis of Viana)
Mariano Peña will play Miguel Primo de Rivera; Jaume Madaula will play the anarchist Mateo Morral, author of the attack committed at the royal wedding; Tomás del Estal will be Emilio María de Torres y González-Arnáu, and Ángel Ruiz will once again give life to Federico García Lorca, a character he already played in El Ministerio del Tiempo, among others.
The series will be filmed entirely in natural exteriors and interiors, like the Royal Palace of Madrid, the Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso (Segovia), the Palace of Santoña (Madrid), the Palace of Fernán Núñez (Madrid), the Fort of San Francisco (Guadalajara) and the Magdalena Palace (Santander), built in 1911 by the City Council as a tribute to the monarchs and where Ena spent a good part of her summers in Spain, accompanied by the Royal Family. Filming for the series will continue until the end of December.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, the Magdalena Palace is going to be an important location during the series as a summer palace, the main filming location in Gran Hotel, and in that series Ena appeared in the episode 3×13, played by Aída Filx.
Apart from that, are we getting an Olivaresverse (XD)? Most likely not, and it's just references about his previous works as a showrunner, but there are connections between Isabel, Emdt and Ena: Michelle Jenner starring Isabel as Isabella I of Castile, then appearing in a couple of scenes in Emdt episode 1×04 and being an important figure in the lore as the foundress of the ministry (& Eusebio Poncela playing as Cisneros in both series, and also he played Cisneros in the film La Corona Partida and the Carlos Rey Emperador series); Alfonso XIII is a descendant of Isabella I of Castile; Ángel Ruiz appeard as Lorca in Emdt in 4 episodes and now he is on Ena playing as Lorca again, we don't know yet how much screentime he will get or which will his role be (secondary character most likely), but it's great to see more about him!
Primera entrada
24 de enero
La clase del día de hoy fue muy divertida, ya que nos pusimos en equipos. A mí me tocó con Caro, Ilse, Ana, Jaime y Eugenia. La actividad consistió en que alguien del equipo tenía que guiar a los demás por todo el salón mientras los demás tenían los ojos cerrados. En mi equipo, la verdad, todos lo hicieron muy bien; no hubo complicaciones, aunque hubo momentos en los que íbamos un poco rápido y nos pisábamos sin querer, pero en general mi equipo lo hizo bien. Después hicimos una actividad con el mismo equipo, donde nos pusimos en círculo y alguien se tenía que poner en medio. Todos mis compañeros lo hicieron muy bien. Cuando me tocó pasar al principio, sí me dio miedo, pero poco a poco empecé a agarrar confianza y logré hacerlo bien. En esta clase aprendí a confiar en mis compañeros y que, aunque me dé miedo algo, tengo que arriesgarme.
26 de enero
Hoy fue el primer día de monólogos. Cada quien sacó un papelito con un número, y el número que me salió fue el 14, lo cual me gust porque no me tocó ser ni de las primeras ni de las últimas. Hoy pasaron Emilio, Karen, Gustavo y Jaime. Me encantó cómo lo hizo Jaime; siento que realmente nos transportó a la escena de su personaje. También me sorprendió Karen, ya que no se veía feliz de ser la segunda persona en pasar, y pensé que iba a estar muy nerviosa, pero cuando pasó lo hizo increíble. La maestra dio correcciones a todos mis compañeros y nos pidió que tomáramos en cuenta esas correcciones para no volver a cometer los mismos errores.
29 de enero
La siguiente clase empezó tarde, y solo tuvimos poco tiempo, así que solo alcanzaron a pasar Itzel, cuyo monólogo trata sobre Malas Palabras, e Ilse, que hizo el monólogo de DHL. Sentí que Ilse lo hizo increíble, no se veía nada nerviosa, aunque la maestra le pidió que lo hiciera otra vez, representando y observando más su entorno.
31 de enero
El día de hoy pasó Paty, que hizo "Como si fuera esta noche", y me gustó que usó props como una bufanda y una chaqueta. También pasó Ana, que interpretó "Casa llena", sorprendiendo a todo el salón. Además, Ivanna presentó "DHL"; Ivanna pasó dos veces. La primera vez lo hizo bien, pero no se sintió con tanta emoción. Luego, la maestra le dio correcciones, como que hiciera más pausas y mostrara más emoción. Cuando volvió a pasar, lo hizo increíblemente; se sintió toda su tristeza, tanto que llegué a pensar que en verdad estaba llorando.
Las famosisimas gomitas de Elena Rodriguez (hermana de la modelo, empresaria, psicóloga, celebridad de internet y funcionaria mexicana Mariana Rodriguez. Es esposa del actual gobernador de Nuevo León, Samuel Garcia), que estan siendo todo un exito!!!
Con tan sólo 21 años, Eugenia Rodríguez ya es toda una experta del lifestyle y la vida healthy. Esta emprendedora estudia la licenciatura de Negocios Internacionales en el Tec de Monterrey; aunque todavía no se gradúa, no ha sido impedimento para que inicie a su faceta como empresaria. Y es que si algo caracteriza a esta joven regiomontana, es su visión para los negocios, al más puro estilo de su famosa hermana mayor.
¿Cómo surgió la idea de emprender su propio negocio?
Eugenia siempre ha sido muy sincera con sus seguidores, a quienes les contó que cuando empezó con la idea de vender dulces enchilados, nunca imaginó el alcance que llegaría a tener.
Inició vendiendo dulces en su escuela para poder ahorrar dinero y, poco a poco, fue cobrando fuerza, hasta que tomó la decisión de fundar su propia marca. Su motivación más grande fue su novio, Emilio Antun, quien se había ido a estudiar a Ciudad de México.
Hasta la fecha sigue haciendo crecer su número de seguidores ya que al día de hoy cuenta con más de 371 mil followers en ig, asi que es todo un talento andando, espero les guste esta informacion:)
Mahleriana malagueña
Tumblr media
[La OFM con su nuevo titular en un recital junto al tenor José Bros en noviembre de 2020. La foto es de Javier Albiñana]
La Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga celebra el treinta aniversario de su fundación con la grabación de la 5ª sinfonía de Mahler, primer registro con su nuevo titular, Moreno Valiente
Las orquestas sinfónicas andaluzas van entrando en el ciclo de sus primeros treinta años de vida. En enero fue la ROSS, y un mes después le tocó el turno a la Filarmónica de Málaga, que dio su primer concierto (como Orquesta Ciudad de Málaga) el 14 de febrero de 1991. Si la orquesta sevillana conmemoró el aniversario repitiendo el programa de su concierto inaugural y dándole a un ciclo de abono el título de 30 Aniversario, la de Málaga lo hace nada menos que con la grabación de la 5ª Sinfonía de Mahler que acaba de publicar el sello IBS Classical, una forma de marcar terreno con la principal nota que singulariza al conjunto en el panorama regional: es con diferencia el que más publicaciones tanto discográficas como bibliográficas ha editado.
Tumblr media
Pasan del medio centenar las referencias discográficas del conjunto malagueño. En sus inicios hay otras atrevidas Quintas, las de Prokófiev y Shostakóvich, que dirigiera aún en los años 90 el pianista y director francés Philippe Entremont. Y aunque la más aplicada dedicación del conjunto ha sido a la música española contemporánea, en su catálogo pueden hallarse algunas otras rarezas de enorme interés, como la música para El mercader de Venecia compuesta por Victor de Sabata que dirigiera su compatriota Aldo Ceccato en 2010 en un ignoto sello italiano.
No deja de ser especial también la relación del conjunto con la ópera. Aparte un disco de canciones con la gran figura malagueña del canto Carlos Álvarez (parecía inevitable) o un recital belcantista con la soprano Laura Alonso, que publicase el sello catalán Columna Música en 2014, destacan las grabaciones que hiciera el conjunto durante la titularidad del maestro iraní Alexander Rahbari (2000-04) en el sello Naxos: Turandot, Gianni Schicchi y un CD con oberturas de Wagner. El conjunto tiene también grabaciones de una irregular Traviata del Villamarta (con Cristina Gallardo-Domas e Ismael Jordi) y un disco de romanzas y dúos de zarzuela.
Pero es la música española del último siglo la que domina en el catálogo fonográfico de la OFM, gracias fundamentalmente a su importante ciclo de Música contemporánea, que generó algunos discos recopilatorios anuales, pero sobre todo interesantes monografías en libro, que se editaban junto a grabaciones del compositor elegido cada año. Entre ellos, Antón García Abril, Cristóbal Halffter, José García Román, Manuel Castillo, José Luis Turina, Claudio Prieto o Jesús Villa Rojo. Se trataba de ediciones propias, austeras, pero suficientes. Alguna de esas monografías tuvo en cambio otro tipo de edición, como la grabación de sinfonías de Tomás Marco bajo la batuta de José Serebrier publicada en Naxos en 2012. Eran los últimos coletazos de los buenos años, que coincidieron también con las colaboraciones de la orquesta con el director José Luis Temes, quien después de un trabajo con música del exiliado zaragozano Simn Tapia-Colman en 2007, dentro de una colección institucional aragonesa, enlazó con el conjunto una interesantísima serie de álbumes en el ya extinto sello Verso con música orquestal de compositores muy poco frecuentados de los siglos XIX y XX: Manuel Manrique de Lara, Emilio Lehmberg, Fernando Remacha, Arturo Dúo Vital y Evaristo Fernández Blanco.
Las crisis enlazadas de la última década frenaron esa notable cadencia de varias grabaciones anuales, aunque no la secaron del todo. En los últimos años cabe citar por ejemplo un curioso acercamiento al Barroco (música de Iribarren con la soprano Eugenia Boix) o un disco de Conciertos de Salvador Bacarisse (otro exiliado) con el Trío Arbós, que supuso el primer contacto con el sello granadino de Paco Moya, colaboración que se afianza ahora con esta 5ª mahleriana. La grabación hace honor sin duda al segundo apellido del mallorquín José María Moreno Valiente, que es desde 2020 el nuevo titular del conjunto malagueño y ha empuñado la batuta en un álbum arriesgado, ya que se trata de una de las obras más populares del gran repertorio internacional. Abruma la lista de grabaciones históricas de la obra.
Málaga tiene ya también su Mahler en disco, para paladear en las largas tardes primaverales de pandémicas restricciones que nos llegan esa melancolía dulce y punzante del Adagietto.
Flowers Bloom Until They Rot and Fall Apart
Chapter 8 (PRESENT): When you're steps from winning back
Happy COT eve eve! It's crazy that we've been working on this fic on and off for over a year now! We've had this written for a while but life got a little hectic, whoops. Enjoy the next bit of this AU! We're really in it now... Title is from "flowers" by marina
CW: childhood cancer, discussions of mind control
Read on AO3 | Masterlist
Thomas came home just in time to start cooking lunch. He’d always loved to cook. His mother had taught him when he was young, and he loved trying out new things, improving recipes and such. He was the only one of his mother’s children who had much of an aptitude for cooking, Eugenia was more likely to set everything on fire because she was so impatient.
Thomas made a spiced tomato soup which he paired with some bread. Tomato soup was one of Rosa’s favorites and he made a batch of it at least every week, varying with the spices and added ingredients such as vermicelli every once in a while.
“How’s Rosa been?” Thomas asked when his mother entered the kitchen.
“She’s played all morning, and she’s napping now,” Sophie said. “I’ll get her when you’re finished. She’ll always come for tomato soup.”
“I have another favor to ask,” Thomas said. “I, uh… am seeing someone. Tonight. I’ll still be here to put Rosa in bed, but if she wakes up or anything…”
“I’ll take care of her,” Sophie said. “Oh, Tommy, I’m so happy for you. Is he nice?”
“Uh, we’ll see? I don’t really know him that well yet,” Thomas said. “I’m not getting my hopes up this early, but I think I’m ready to try.”
Thomas felt far from ready to try, but it was the best excuse he could come up with for why he’d be gone for the evening. If his parents asked for more details about what his date was like… he guessed he could describe Haoma. Not that that would ever happen, he reminded himself. Haoma was a criminal. Thomas didn’t think he was a bad person. Haoma had his own set of morals for sure, but it hadn’t escaped his notice how protective he was of that girl Clara. But that didn’t mean he was someone he wanted around Rosa. But what if it really was Alastair, a voice in his head whispered.
“Tell me everything tomorrow,” Sophie said.
There were downsides to being an adult living in the same house as his parents. Mainly that they had a tendency to be protective of him even though Thomas was a parent in his twenties. But the positives far outweighed the downsides, and Thomas didn’t think there was any shame in living with his parents as an adult.
He was divorced with a young child, and if he were to live alone then he’d have to find a babysitter or take her to a daycare when he had to work and couldn’t watch her. Now, between his parents and him there was always someone who could keep an eye on her when Thomas was working.
“I will,” Thomas said. “I’ll tell Rosa I’m away for grown up business, I won’t tell her about anyone I’m seeing until it’s a relationship I’m sure about. She is still struggling to adjust to Emilio’s new boyfriend.”
It had stung, finding out about Emilio’s new partner. Mostly because Emilio had entered the relationship when he and Thomas had still lived together. It wasn’t cheating, at least not according to Emilio. By the time he’d entered that relationship, Thomas and Emilio were already sleeping in separate bedrooms and had decided to get a divorce. But they had still lived together. And Thomas… he’d assumed Emilio would wait. He’d moved back into his parents’ house the same day he’d found out.
“Yes, I think that would be best,”  Sophie said.
“The soup is almost finished, could you wake up Rosa?” he asked.
Thomas poured the soup into bowls and toasted some bread alongside it. They would have plenty of soup for several days.
Sophie came downstairs, carrying Rosa in her arms, who was still wearing her pajamas. She looked drowsy, and wasn’t wearing a wig. It was painful sometimes. At her young age she was already insecure about how she looked, because she didn’t know any princesses who were bald and Rosa wanted to be a princess. He was grateful to Lucie who’d written a story about a bald princess going on an adventure.
“Are we eating soup?” Rosa asked.
“Yes, mija. I made tomato soup. Are you very tired?”
“I’m not tired,” Rosa said.
Unfortunately, she always said that. Rosa tended to get frustrated with how little energy she had sometimes and like most children her age she wasn’t very good at feeling when she’d become too tired and getting rest. Thomas often had to stop her early, if she exerted too much energy, her fatigue would get worse.
“Okay. We’ll go play after lunch, alright?”
Thomas figured he’d get some work done in the gardens after playing with Rosa, she’d be tired again and he’d put a movie on for her. Lots of parents hated it when their children watched too much tv, but for Thomas the invention of streaming services was a gift sent from heaven. Rosa could still handle watching something when she was tired and it was easier to convince her to go watch a movie than to take a nap. Not to mention there were a lot of educational tv programs out there.
At seven, Thomas put Rosa to bed and sang a Spanish lullaby for her until she fell asleep. Then he left to go meet with Haoma. They met at an abandoned warehouse not far from where the Shadow Market would be. It resembled  something out of a crime show he sometimes watches with his mother, and Thomas felt awfully out of place.
“This is the potion,” Haoma said. “For your face and body. Best to drink it in one go.”
The potion didn’t taste great, but it could be a lot worse. The sensation in his body was the worst part, like things were changing. Was it truly a shift, or more of an illusion? Thomas assumed the first when he was looking Haoma right in the eye. From a completely different angle, because he’d just shrunk at least 20 cm. His clothes had somehow adjusted to his new body, not only had he lost his height, but also some of his muscles. He hoped he wouldn’t have to do any heavy lifting because neither of them were appropriately built for that sort of thing.
“This feels weird.”
“You’re short now,” Haoma said. “Since you don’t want to be recognized or associated with the Shadow Market. Nobody’s going to see you at this height and think, that must be Thomas Lightwood.”
“Fair point.”
“Of course it is, pipsqueak. Now, come on.”
Pipsqueak. It had been a long time since he’d been called that. It had been a long time since he’d been appropriately short for such a nickname. It had been something Alastair had called him before his growth spurt. Could it be…? Thomas sighed, there was no way of knowing, he could hardly ask Haoma.
“Alright, show the way.”
Spending time with Thomas was a bad idea. Alastair knew that every moment they spent together risked outing his true identity. Unfortunately, they did need intel, and Alastair couldn’t think of a convincing excuse to revoke the invitation he’d extended.
“Try to keep up, will you?” Alastair started quickly through the streets, weaving seamlessly from alleyway to alleyway, market stall to market stall, trying his best to remain in the shadows. He stopped abruptly, Thomas nearly crashing into him.
Thomas was looking around wildly, taking in everything around him. “Is it always like this?”
“Yes. Now try to look less like a first-timer to the Market. We’re almost at the location Clara gave me. The plan is to scout out the area, find a way to get Clara and I safely in and out with the thorns in hand, then leave. Keep low, keep quiet, and pray to whoever is out there that no one sees us. I don’t know how dangerous these people are.”
Thomas nodded quickly. “I understand.”
Alastair cursed himself for asking Thomas to join him. He had too much to lose. He had a family that needed him. What kind of person was he to put him in this sort of danger? Even a recon mission could go sour if you made the wrong move.
They continued down an alley, slower, more careful this time. Alastair held out a hand to instruct Thomas to stop. There were too many people at the head of the alley to creep forward undetected. They stood there for a few moments before Thomas whispered, “What are we doing?”
“Waiting.”
And the waiting took a while, but it always did, regardless of how much time truly passed. Looking back at Thomas, he couldn’t help but feel pride in his potion work. Such a significant change in stature was no easy feat, and he couldn’t have accomplished it a few years earlier. Every time he turned around, he expected to see that towering, gorgeous buffoon behind him and felt a jolt of surprise when he saw disguised Thomas instead.
He wondered what it was like to know him as Haoma, never sure what to expect when you turned to look at him. It was true that many people had different faces, that they had different personalities that came out with different people, but most didn’t display their different facets so plainly. No one could feel like they knew the true Haoma, but how often did anyone actually know someone’s true self, anyways?
A couple of voices echoed through the alley. They were mainly talking business, passing back and forth names that sounded familiar but Alastair didn’t fully recognize. These weren’t the kinds of people he liked to associate with.
“You think the girl will fill the bargain?” one of them asked.
“‘Course not. I have no idea where he even found that thing. It’s probably hundreds of years old. I’d be surprised if she could even get it to sprout,” answered the other.
“A shame, but I guess that’s life.”
The sentiment lit a fire behind Alastair’s stoic gaze. He’d heard it all his life. He’d heard it on the news every time a new tragedy had befallen someone who didn’t deserve it. He’d heard it in his home every time he began to question his family’s toxic dysfunction. He understood why. It was easier than confronting the real issue. But that didn’t quell his anger at the fact that life wasn’t supposed to be this painful. It wasn’t supposed to be dangerous, especially not for a child. And he was tired of power-hungry bastards who seemed to disagree.
Alastair took a few steadying breaths as they waited for the voices to dissipate . Then, he peered out, surveying the area, making note of the exit points. They wouldn’t be in his area of the Market, so they were at a disadvantage.
After taking a few moments to take in their surroundings, they both retreated back into the shadows.
“There are at least some alleyways that you could use as a getaway route,” Thomas commented.
Alastair thought for a moment. “It’s true, but we can’t be sure where they’ll have guards posted. The Market is always busy on a full moon, maybe it would be best to take to the crowds, try to blend in that way.”
“There’s also far more people who could try to stop you in a crowd.”
“Also true. I…” Alastair approached his next idea cautiously. “I hate the idea of mind control probably even more than you do, but don’t you think, perhaps, it could be useful in this situation? If things go sideways?”
“You’re suggesting that I give you thorns to make a mind control potion?”
“Are you opposed?”
Thomas thought for a moment, then shook his head. “Of course I’m opposed. How do I even know if I can trust you? Even if I can, what’s stopping that from ending up in someone else’s hands? What if they turn the potion on you, and you end up mind controlled?”
“Those are all good points, but I’m good at what I do, Thomas. I’m good at protecting myself, and I believe that I’ll be good at protecting Clara, too. I prefer to deal with my problems through more traditional means such as sharp objects and illusory magic, but if we end up in a corner we can’t get out of, don’t you think it would be useful to have?”
Thomas still seemed unconvinced, but before he could respond, they were interrupted.
“Is someone there?” a woman called.
Alastair flattened against the shadows, staying as still as possible while motioning for Thomas to do the same.
It didn’t work. The woman was coming down the alley.
Thomas looked ready to bolt, but that would only raise more suspicion. Alastair did the only thing he could think of in the moment. He crouched down against the wall of the alley, dragging Thomas by the collar with him, pulling him into a sloppy kiss. Thomas’ surprise eased as he fell into the kiss. Alastair did his best to play his part until a crack against the brick above his head sent them flying apart.
“What do you kids think you’re doing?” The woman demanded. At a closer look, she looked to be getting on in years - 60s or 70s, perhaps - but she was by no means frail. She held a cane, but Alastair suspected it was as much an arcane focus as a mobility aid.
Alastair giggled as if he were drunk. “So, so sorry, ma’am. We were just-”
Her cane rapped against the brick again. “Yes, I know what you were doing. You shouldn’t be here. Get out.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Alastair answered. Without another word, he grabbed Thomas by the hand and started running down the alley, stumbling slightly, trying to keep up the act. He kept running until he was certain they were safe, and then he realized he was still holding Thomas’ hand. He promptly dropped it.
“What was that?”
“I- I’m so sorry about that. I needed to do something to get us out of there. Otherwise, we would have been made. At best, they would have known we were spying. At worst, well… I made a promise to myself that you’d get home safe tonight.”
Thomas seemed a bit flustered. “I do suppose it was a clever move,” he admitted.
“We should get out of here. We got what we needed. There’s no reason to push our luck.”
Thomas only nodded. He was silent as he followed him back out of the maze of market stalls. When they finally reached the warehouse where they’d begun, Alastair pulled out another vial. “This is the antidote to the potion you took earlier.”
Thomas took it quickly, still not saying anything. He must be eager to get back to his normal self.
“Are you alright to get yourself home from here?”
Thomas nodded.
“Thank you for your help tonight. I’ll see you soon.”
Alastair began to walk away as Thomas called out, “Wait. I’ll give you the thorns. I’m sorry, I was shaken, but… You’re right. You should have a failsafe if you end up in a situation you can’t get out of. I trust you to use the thorns properly. Stop by tomorrow around 2:15.”
“Alright,” he replied. Perhaps nearly getting caught had sparked a change of heart. Alastair wasn’t going to argue. “Thank you. See you tomorrow.”
Thanks for reading! Send us your speculations on what will happen next :)
Here I leave a list of Hispanic names for people who write Coco and Encanto fanfics or any other Hispanic inspired story. I'll have reblogged each gender section separatedly because, as always, Tumblr doesn't allow me to have more than 4096 words per post. I'll start with both genders names and red will be used for less common names.
Click here to see the male names and here to see the female ones.
This is so far the most of names I could remember. If I get to remember more, I'll be adding them all, of course, if Tumblr allows me to.
I have to point out that there are non-hispanic names that have become popular and that they don't have any translation in spanish. Some of them are "Brandon" "Brian" "Nelly" "Denisse" or "Leslie" Or that they actually have one but people prefer the foreign version. These ones can be "Marion" instead of "Mariana" "Karol" instead of "Carolina"
I guess you would also like to know the nicknames of each one of the names I provided you with, or maybe even last names. If you want me to dedicate some posts to that, let me know! For the moment, I hope all of these names are useful for your O.Cs and fanfics. 😉
Night at Museum OC: Marcela Agoncillo
Tumblr media
She's the latest edition to the Hall of Miniatures, which she is part of the exhibit that shows 18th century Philippines. Doña Marcela Mariño de Agoncillo (née Mariño y Coronel; June 24, 1859 – May 30, 1946) was a Filipina who was the principal seamstress of the first and official flag of the Philippines, gaining her the title of "The Mother of the Philippine Flag." Marcela Coronel Mariño was the daughter of Don Francisco Diokno Mariño and Doña Eugenia Coronel Mariño, a rich family in her hometown of Taal, Batangas. She finished her studies at Santa Catalina College, Marcela acquired her learning in music and feminine crafts. At the age of 30, Marcela Coronel Mariño married Felipe Encarnacion Agoncillo, a Filipino lawyer, and a jurist, and gave birth to six children. Her marriage led an important role in Philippine history. When her husband was exiled in Hong Kong during the outbreak of the Philippine Revolution, Marcela Mariño Agoncillo and the rest of the family joined him and temporarily resided there to avoid the anti-Filipino hostilities of the occupying Spain. While in Hong Kong, General Emilio Aguinaldo requested her to sew the flag that would represent the Republic of the Philippines. Doña Marcela Mariño de Agoncillo, with her eldest daughter Lorenza and a friend Delfina Herbosa de Natividad, niece of Dr. Jose Rizal, manually sewed the flag in accordance with General Emilio Aguinaldo's design which later became the official flag of the Republic of the Philippines. While the flag itself is the perpetual legacy of Doña Marcela Mariño de Agoncillo, she is also commemorated through museums and monuments: like the marker in Hong Kong (where her family temporarily sojourned), at her ancestral home in Taal, Batangas which has been turned into a museum, in paintings by notable painters as well as through other visual arts. She loves sewing and was inspired by the creation of 'cosplay', when Larry showed her the amazing fashions of today. Marcela or Celay is very sweet and motherly towards the others including Laaa, who often calls her 'Mama', she also has a crush towards Jedediah since he kinda reminds her of her late husband.
Do you play an instrument?
Alas, no.
• Favourite book characters?
Why would you do this to me?  My favorite fictional darling of the moment is Anders.  That’s my boy.  My boy onto whom I project all my hypomanic despair and desire to burn the system down and start from the ground up.  That boy.
St. Eugenia of Rome, St. Thekla, and St. Mary of Egypt are my peeps in the fight to fuck with limiting constructions of gender.
Any number of Katharine Anne Porter’s characters.
• What’s your star sign?
Virgo.
• Favourite colour schemes?
Well... I’m painting the two main rooms in my house dark, dark red and blue.  But my bathroom is going to be purple, and the guest bath is going to be 1960s/70s green, so.... All the colors?
• Naps or long sleep?
Long sleep.  It takes me 30 min to an hour to fall asleep in the first place, so a ‘nap’ is a foreign concept.
• What languages do you speak?
English.  I can kinda, sorta speak Russian, but I am very out of practice, and I was never more than vaguely proficient.  I speak very good redneck, and curiously enough, I’ve determined it is rather easier to transliterate how ‘does that count’ in redneck by using Cyrillic: жат койт?
• Dreams/aspirations?
I want to write stories that people love.  I want to contribute to my community, which in the case of rural American generally is underserved and in the case of queer rural America very underserved.
• Long hair or Short Hair?
So, I had very long hair (waist length) hair in high school.  It got progressively shorter until I had an undercut for several years.  At the beginning of the pandemic, I started letting it grow out, and I’ve decided to let it get back to waist length for funzies.  I still have about 6 inches to go.  And I do need to get it trimmed and shaped up a bit at some point in the meantime.
• Tea or coffee?
Both, but I drink more coffee. Especially right now. Picking up a third class to teach was both brilliant and a MISTAKE.
• Bring a book character to life or go into a fictional world?
Oh, jeez, this is almost as bad as the first.  I’ve had some whiskey, so I want to go drinking with Dmitri Karamazov (and flirt with Grusha a bit), then have a conversation with Ivan about the nature of good and evil, and then go kill the Tsar with Aleksey.  Yet the article there was singular, so... hmm...Fr. Emilio Sanchez from The Sparrow.  I think the world would be a better place.  (Also, I desperately need to give that man a hug, but only with his permission.)
holis. aqui les dejo una lista de nombres comunes para sus pjs de america latina, (pronto subire otra lista con nombres unisex). no duden en preguntar si necesitan ayuda o ideas. disfruten. 💫
( here’s a long list of more common / less fancy latine names. some are a combo of first name + middle name bc it’s a v common thing here. keep in mind i’m venezuelan and can’t possibly know every single name in every latin american country but this lil list should help you. also in some countries like venezuela, colombia, etc, most ppl have two names and two last names // eg. juan luis londoño arias // so keep that in mind when naming your character. lmk if u need any help. enjoy ♡  – pls don’t stress if you dont see unisex/androgynous names on this list, im working on one just for those. )
