Because I knew you, I have been changed for good. PT.2
(Rivals) Taggie O’Hara x Reader (Platonic)
Suggestion by a sweet anon 🫶🏽 / You, Rupert Campbell-Black’s daughter, make it your mission to befriend Taggie O’Hara. Read part 1 here.
18+ FANFIC / Platonic love! Mentions of Rupert. Reader character aged at 21. Hope you enjoy! 🩷
Tumblr media
It had been years since you had had a girly sleepover — spending the night braiding each others hair, sharing your worst secrets and, finally, collapsing into a deep slumber just as the sun begins to rise. Since becoming acquainted with the sweet-tempered girl that is Taggie some weeks ago, you had practically spent every waking moment together, seeing more of Declan than you had of your own father. Tonight, the relentless downpouring of rain had begun to flood the driveway of The Priory, you and Taggie transforming into damsels in distress, locked away in her turret bedroom. The night sky was immensely dark, and peppered with a litter of glittering stars.
Taggie, dressed only in one of her father’s old shirts and with her copper hair braided behind her head, was curled up in her four-poster bed. Much like everything in her life, her bed was chaotically haphazard — lime green sheets tucked under a crimson red duvet, equally juxtaposed by plum purple pillowcases. You were adorned in a pink pyjama set, tiny lambs embroidered over the front — a gift to you by your father. “What is the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?” Taggie asked, giggling to herself as she took a sip from her hot, steaming mug of sweet tea. “A few days after my 18th birthday, Daddy was in the Maldives. He said I could borrow the Quattro whilst he was away, but I took his Lamborghini for a test drive…” You began, hanging your head in shame. Taggie’s eyes were widened in anticipation. “It was going swimmingly until I put my foot down too hard outside of Cotchester and crashed into a wall.” You admitted, coaxing a raucous outburst of laughter from Taggie, relishing as you shook your head in embarrassment. Rupert was most definitely not too pleased to see his prize possession crumpled in his driveway.
Taggie sighed shakily, wiping a tear of laughter from her eye with her sleeve. Resting her head against her pillow, Taggie asked in a gentle whisper, “What’s your deepest, darkest secret?” The breath caught forcibly in your throat, your cheeks flushing furiously. “Well… Before you, I’ve never had a friend. My Dad has always been all I’ve ever had. I haven’t seen my Mum since I was a baby, way too early for me to remember. I never clicked properly with anyone at school, and as soon as I finished I was just stuck at Penscombe. Without Daddy, I don’t know what I’d do.” You sniffled, reminiscing the nights that you spent sobbing into Rupert’s shoulder, the nights you spent drinking in Bar Sinister with just him, the solitary Christmas’ you both spent at Penscombe Court. Taggie felt hopelessly sad at your confession, burying her face into your shoulder in a futile effort to mask her melancholy.
“What about you?” You asked, stroking her locks of copper. Taggie’s soft features hardened, Rupert haunting her thoughts. “I don’t think… I don’t think anyone will ever love me. Everybody treats me like a child, they think I’m stupid. The only person that I thought loved me was Rafe, and he abandoned me. And the only person that I could ever live… I can’t have.” She whispered morosely. Without thinking, you flung your arms around Taggie, pulling her tight to your body in an embrace that she so desperately needed. “I love you, Tag. And I’ll always be here for you.”
“You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing.” - Charlotte’s Web, E.B White

A wonderful Christmas time
─── ୨ৎ────
Headcannons how the brothers handle/experience Christmas, sorry for any mistakes this isn’t proofread 😭!!
Everyone gets assigned roles in what they have to do around the house
Though no matter what, Asmo is always helping with the deco
Lots of different and eccentric ornaments are placed on the tree
Just a few of these include: a limited edition ruri-chan Christmas bauble, a cat bauble, a burger bauble and a bauble in the shape of Grimm
In every single vase there will be at least one hell poinsettia
Pillowcases are replaced with embroidered Christmas ones per Asmo’s choosing
The railings up the stairs are lined with garlands, making it almost impossible to grab onto them without having an uncomfortable leafy or shiny surface under your hand
In the night , it seems the devildom is never sleeping since there are always at least 3/5 houses on a street with Christmas lights on
Not to mention the house of lamentation having light up reindeers on their front garden and a giant light-up bow on their door
not to mention the other stringed lights (how many times have I said lights😭) hanging from the house
Even the curtains may be changed to a white or a deep scarlet to match the interior
No room is spared from the festivities, not even the kitchen
The kitchen pantry is filled with different desserts and foods from Christmas markets and if you’d look to the fridge, you’d see that all the usual magnets were replaced with Christmas ones!

“seeing an object and thinking of them” for hamal & zev pleeeaaase 🫶🏽
They live out of their packs, carrying only what they need to survive: rations, basic supplies, weapons, and precious few comforts. Of these, there is the boar bristle hairbrush Zevran has allowed himself to keep. The oils Hamal uses for his skin. Sunscreen and elfroot extract. Zevran's boots, which he imagines they rescued from their cold exile in Haven. Keeper Mahariel's necklace. Their wedding rings.
Eventually, however, they need to go shopping.
And as Hamal finds himself ill-suited to the bustle of a typical Antivan marketplace, Zevran is happy for the chance to wander alone and stock up on sweet smelling soap, coffee, beeswax, spices...
There is one other thing he has in mind.
Hamal's shirt is long past mending. It is patched and thinning in several places, though the man would never admit this; after all, he'd spent the last month of the Blight wearing a shirt that was more repair than fabric.
Which is precisely why Zevran has taken the decision into his own hands.
Hamal deserves something fresh and comfortable, not the worn tunic he's carried for years. Zevran rather suspects it's a bit small in the shoulders for him as well. He's filled out a bit, now that he's on a proper sleep schedule and enjoying the far superior food Antiva has to offer. Health and happiness look lovely on him.
So, it is time for a change. This is not a whim, it's a necessity. Zevran ventures to several clothing shops, seeking the right shirt for his husband.
It should be linen, or percale… something apt for the heat. It should be slim in the arms--billowing sleeves, while quite fetching on Hamal, would get in the way of his bow. Definitely no buttons… they'd gape. Actually, that might be a plus. Perhaps something with laces?
When Zevran finally makes his way back to camp, his pack is cheerfully filled with all his day's purchases. He walks right up to Hamal, trades his welcome back vhenan with a kiss, and immediately tugs at his shirt.
"Take it off," he says.
He need not say it twice. Hamal laughs and tugs the garment over his head.
"Alright, now, put this on!"
Zevran takes the old shirt, shoving the new into his arms.
Hamal blinks at him. His eyes trail down to the shirt, a snow-white percale cotton with dainty sprigs of lavender embroidered on the fabric.
"You tricked me," he says lightly.
"Do you like it?"
Hamal hums thoughtfully as he puts the shirt on. Zevran notes with some relief that it fits him well, and the low neckline is suitable, too.
"These little leaves are pretty," Hamal says, tracing the embroidery along the collar and sleeves.
"It reminded me of you," Zevran said softly, hoping to convince him. "And the color matches your eyes. I bought ribbons for your hair, too. A few different colors to match."
Hamal laughs at that. "Ribbons! I love you, truly!" he says. "Ma serannas. I do like it."
"Thank the Maker," Zevran sighs.
Not that he was worried, but Hamal is slow to such changes sometimes. No doubt he'll want to keep the old one.
It's like clockwork.
"The old one isn't that bad!"
"It's bad," Zevran says with a smile, and he smooths a hand over his shoulder, picking lint off the fabric. "Amor, it's practically falling apart."
"Not at all. It has a few years left!"
"As my pillowcase," Zevran agrees with a laugh.
Hamal considers it. "Alright," he says, charmed by the idea. "Deal."

BY JANE KENYON
Searching for pillowcases trimmed
with lace that my mother-in-law
once made, I open the chest of drawers
upstairs to find that mice
have chewed the blue and white linen
dishtowels to make their nest,
and bedded themselves
among embroidered dresser scarves
and fingertip towels.
Tufts of fibers, droppings like black
caraway seeds, and the stains of birth
and afterbirth give off the strong
unforgettable attar of mouse
that permeates an old farmhouse
on humid summer days.
A couple of hickory nuts
roll around as I lift out
the linens, while a hail of black
sunflower shells
falls on the pillowcases,
yellow with age, but intact.
I’ll bleach them and hang them in the sun
to dry. There’s almost no one left
who knows how to crochet lace....
The bright-eyed squatters are not here.
They’ve scuttled out to the fields
for summer, as they scuttled in
for winter—along the wall, from chair
to skirted chair, making themselves
flat and scarce while the cat
dozed with her paws in the air,
and we read the mail
or evening paper, unaware.

Image dump time!! Here's a collection of little things I have been working on. Those black boots I painted/embroidered was the last project I was working on before I got covid :(
But I had the opportunity to work on a few smaller things while I was recovering! I am doing better now, I am quarantining for a little longer just to be careful 💚
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Image ID: The first image is of a little fishbone stamp I made out of an old eraser. It's a little messy looking and I used red ink to stamp it onto paper.
The next two images are of a rectangular white cotton patch, with a red vertical line on the side and about 15 blue horizontal lines throughout it with a blank gap at the top, mimicking notebook paper. This project is unfinished currently.
The next three images are of a headband with foam antlers I painted to look as realistic as I could, and both antlers are wrapped with leaf ribbon and wire-stemmed pink and white flowers. There's a little fake bird glued to the top of the right antler.
The last two images are of a flowery pillowcase that I mended using little squares of scrap cotton fabric underneath, with visible stitching throughout it to secure the entire patch onto the pillowcase. The hole I mended was about the size of a penny I think. End ID]

A little Brook I made for a friend :)
[ID: A photo of a knitted version of Brook from One Piece. His body is covered by a white circular tube of knitted fabric, meant to resemble the pillowcase he briefly wore on Whole Cake. His mouth is embroidered with black thread, resembling a straight line with short parallel stitches across it. His nose is embroidered as well, and his eyes are two black buttons. His hair has been crocheted to the skull with thick black yarn in such a way that it is curled to make his afro. End ID.]

Character Writing Exercises
I'm quickly hopping in on the fun writing exercise created by @davycoquette before work lmao
Rules: Paint a picture of a character by describing their bedroom while they’re not in it.
I'll do my beloved Mordrek Willets, former Sinan Intelligence Services officer and all-around ne'er-do-well!
***
Winding along the Kulniryi cliffs, the very edge of the continent, lies Thieves' Quarter. Home to the city's meanest and most desperate inhabitants, who have made their homes by burrowing into the rock faces and stealing flotsam from shipwrecks, one would never expect opulence or comfort in these rude-carved quarters.
As usual, Mordrek Willets defies expectations.
A faint whiff of must and salt hums underneath a foreign perfume rich with black pepper. Careful fumigation cannot wholly irradicate this souvenir of the sea.
Flickering electric lights - illegally spliced from Kulniryi's newly-installed power system - play over bedclothes in a heap. The top blanket is made of plain blue wool, likely the remnants of old sailors' trunks, but delving deeper reveals a luxurious bedcover, embroidered in multicolored leaf patterns interspersed with aggressive, riotously bright animals. This one, at least, was not stolen from anywhere; it was a hush present from a Koffa tribeswoman who did not wish for her infidelity to be made public.
Underneath these is a set of sheets made from shot silk; when the light hits it right, the fabric turns a brilliant gold-blue, changing its proportions when shifted ever so slightly.
Though the pillows are covered in gorgeous cotton pillowcases, printed by hand in faraway Rixia, they smell faintly of sweat and liquor. Two sharp knives, their handles carved from cow femurs, lay sheathed beneath.
The bed itself is carved with fantastical animals: two-headed cows, lions with horse faces, a cat curled into a pretzel. One might imagine this the grave good of a great ruler, and perhaps it is. Mordrek asks no questions of what he drags out of the depths.
At its foot sits a heavy sea chest with several locks, all in different styles. Picking them all would take ages - not to mention advanced knowledge of the many fastening styles in vogue across the world - but should one succeed, they would be greeted with an unusual sight.
Nestled amongst the fir bones of this sea chest are unsealed letters, government documents, taboo books from faraway lands, and mementos from former lovers. Most of whom are now married, mothers, or dead.
Pretty hair bows, bulky jewelry made from precious metals, even the fingerbones of one woman's dead relatives wired as a bracelet. Each is tucked into a white muslin bag, titled with the gifter's name and place of origin. On some, Mordrek has deigned to write something he loved about this lady he could not keep for long.
Reading them seems like a whirlwind trip through geography, history, and a man's lonely life: Rixia, Koffa, the Cow Republic, the Fuarese Union, Janailan before the civil war. Even one from the tiny island of Down Derby, known for its carnivorous sheep.
One cannot help feeling a bit melancholy, especially when they notice the half-empty liquor bottles from each corresponding nation tucked amongst the mementos. Many of the items are slightly stained from alcohol or sebum, suggesting Mordrek picks them up and investigates them on a regular basis. Remembering all the lovers he was cursed to leave behind everywhere he goes.
But quick! The front door, stolen from a luxurious Triechelle barque, may open any minute. Turn off the pilfered solar power, creep into the grand living room, and sneak past his mule, who grouses in a stable in front of the entryway.
Those of Thieves' Quarter, quite predictably, don't take well to intruders. Best that Mordrek not know you entered his most sacred, profane space. He wouldn't appreciate being caught out.

What's the Best Way to Wash Angie's India Bedding?
Angie's India bedding is known for its luxurious fabrics, beautiful designs, and high-quality craftsmanship. To keep your bedding looking fresh and feeling soft, it’s essential to wash and maintain it properly. Using the right cleaning methods ensures long-lasting durability while preserving the comfort and elegance of your bedding.
If you're wondering how to wash Angie's India bedding the right way, follow these simple steps.
Tumblr media
1. Read the Care Label First
Before washing your bedding, always check the care label. Different fabrics require different washing techniques:
✔ Cotton & Linen – Machine washable on a gentle cycle. ✔ Silk & Satin – Hand wash or use a delicate machine cycle. ✔ Velvet & Embroidered Bedding – Dry clean only for best results.
Following the manufacturer’s guidelines ensures your bedding remains in top condition for years.
2. Choose the Right Water Temperature
The water temperature plays a key role in keeping your bedding clean without damaging the fabric.
Cold Water (Below 30°C) – Best for silk, satin, and delicate fabrics to prevent shrinkage.
Warm Water (30°C - 40°C) – Ideal for cotton and linen to remove dirt effectively.
Hot Water (Above 40°C) – Can be used for white bedding to eliminate bacteria, but avoid it for colored fabrics.
3. Use a Mild Detergent
Harsh detergents can damage the fibers of luxury bedding. Instead, opt for:
✔ Mild liquid detergents without bleach or strong chemicals. ✔ pH-balanced detergents for delicate fabrics. ✔ Eco-friendly detergents to preserve fabric softness.
Avoid fabric softeners for silk and satin bedding, as they can break down fibers over time.
4. Wash Bedding Separately
To maintain the quality of your bedding, always wash sheets, pillowcases, and duvet covers separately from towels or clothing. This prevents:
❌ Lint transfer from towels. ❌ Zippers and buttons from damaging the fabric. ❌ Uneven washing due to different fabric textures.
Use a gentle cycle to prevent excessive wear and tear.
5. Drying Your Bedding Properly
The best way to dry Angie's India bedding is to air-dry it in a shaded area. If using a dryer, select:
✔ Low heat settings to prevent fabric damage. ✔ Tumble dry with wool dryer balls to keep bedding fluffy.
Avoid direct sunlight for colored fabrics, as it can cause fading.
6. Ironing & Storing Your Bedding
Cotton & Linen – Can be ironed on a medium heat setting.
Silk & Satin – Use a low heat setting or a steamer.
Storage Tip – Keep bedding in a cool, dry place inside breathable fabric bags to prevent moisture buildup.
Final Thoughts
Washing Angie's India bedding the right way extends its life while keeping it soft, fresh, and luxurious. By following these care tips, you can enjoy comfortable, clean, and long-lasting bedding every night!

One of the projects I fi ished at my mom's for christmas. Its a pillowcase that her mom painted probably 50 years ago (a number that is softly exploding my brain) that I embroidered over to add texture. I am super pleased with how it came out!
There was a tiny hole on the girl's hair, so I used a satin stitch overtop and stem stitched the longer ends. The jacket is chain stitched for the yellow body and stem stitched with a larger, looser thread for the cuffs. My grandmother had just drawn in brown edge fluffs, so I filled in the middle with an off-white and let the brown paint show through underneath. I'm very happy with the way I was able to add dimension to the torso with the chain fill changing direction! For the igloo, I just backstitched the outline, and I think it looks a bit melt-shiny.
I got bored with the trees, but stitched some boughs so that they weren't left out entirely. I think if I had stitched the full tree I wpuld have lost my mind and it would have been a bit too much anyway.
I'm definitely in the mood right now to avoid designing my own stuff. I feel a bit like the dog with a ball in its mouth, going "embroider. No design, only embroider!"

Redwork Embroidery
Redwork Embroidery:
Timeless Charm Meets Modern Machine Stitching
I. Introduction Redwork embroidery, a beloved needlework tradition, has captivated crafters for over a century with its simple yet striking aesthetic. This timeless technique, characterized by its use of red thread on a light background, has roots dating back to the late 19th century. Today, we're witnessing a delightful resurgence of redwork, as both novice and experienced embroiderers rediscover its charm. The transition of redwork from hand-stitching to machine embroidery has opened up a world of possibilities, allowing for intricate designs and faster execution without sacrificing the technique's signature simplicity. At embroidery-pro.com, we've embraced this evolution, offering a unique collection of redwork designs that blend traditional motifs with modern sensibilities. Join us as we explore the fascinating world of redwork embroidery and discover how you can incorporate this classic art form into your projects using today's advanced embroidery machines. II. What is Redwork Embroidery? Redwork embroidery is a distinctive style of needlework characterized by its use of red thread on a light-colored fabric, typically white or cream. This technique gained popularity in the late 1800s when colorfast red dye became widely available and affordable. The stark contrast between the vivid red stitches and the pale background creates a bold, eye-catching effect that has stood the test of time. Traditionally, redwork designs feature simple line drawings executed in basic embroidery stitches, with the outline or stem stitch being the most common. Popular motifs often include flowers, animals, everyday objects, and scenes from rural life. The simplicity of redwork made it accessible to embroiderers of all skill levels, contributing to its widespread appeal. One of the most appealing aspects of redwork is its versatility. The technique can be applied to various items, from quilts and pillowcases to tea towels and decorative wall hangings. Its clean lines and uncluttered appearance make it suitable for both country-style decor and more modern, minimalist settings. III. The Evolution of Redwork While redwork began as a hand-stitching technique, it has seamlessly transitioned into the world of machine embroidery. This evolution has brought numerous advantages to enthusiasts of this classic art form. Machine-embroidered redwork offers consistency in stitch quality, faster execution of complex designs, and the ability to easily replicate patterns – perfect for those looking to create multiple items or large-scale projects. The shift to machine embroidery has also expanded the creative possibilities of redwork. While traditionalists may stick to the classic red thread, modern embroiderers now experiment with various colors, creating "bluework," "greenwork," or even multicolor designs that maintain the essence of redwork's linear style. At embroidery-pro.com, we offer a range of color options for our redwork-inspired designs, allowing you to customize your projects to suit your personal style or decor. Perhaps most excitingly, the marriage of traditional redwork motifs with modern machine embroidery techniques has given birth to innovative designs. Today's redwork patterns often feature a blend of classic themes and contemporary aesthetics, appealing to a new generation of crafters while honoring the technique's rich history. IV. Redwork Machine Embroidery Techniques Successful machine-embroidered redwork begins with selecting the right materials. Opt for a high-quality, 40-weight embroidery thread in your chosen color. While red is traditional, don't be afraid to experiment with other hues that complement your project. As for fabric, a smooth, tightly woven material like cotton or linen works best to showcase the crisp lines of redwork designs. Digitizing redwork designs requires attention to detail to maintain the characteristic simple, linear style. At embroidery-pro.com, our digitizers carefully convert each design to ensure clean lines and even stitching. When working with redwork patterns, adjust your machine's settings for a slightly longer stitch length to mimic the traditional hand-stitched look. To achieve professional results: - Use a sharp needle appropriate for your fabric weight. - Ensure proper stabilization to prevent puckering – a cut-away or tear-away stabilizer usually works well for redwork. - Adjust thread tension carefully to avoid loops or pulls in your stitching. - Take your time with corners and curves to maintain smooth lines. If you encounter issues like thread breaks or uneven stitching, check your needle condition, rethreading both top and bobbin threads, and confirming your machine's tension settings. V. Popular Redwork Designs and Themes Redwork embroidery boasts a rich repertoire of classic motifs that continue to charm crafters today. Traditional designs often feature: - Florals and nature scenes - Farmyard animals and wildlife - Kitchen and household items - Children's storybook characters - Seasonal and holiday themes These timeless motifs are perfect for adding a touch of nostalgia to your projects. At embroidery-pro.com, we offer a wide selection of these classic designs, digitized for flawless machine embroidery. Redwork is also popular in quilting, with many quilters using redwork blocks to create stunning sampler quilts or as central medallions in larger pieces. VIII. Tips for Successful Redwork Machine Embroidery To achieve the best results with your redwork machine embroidery: - Stabilization is key: Use a medium-weight cut-away or tear-away stabilizer to prevent puckering and ensure crisp lines. - Adjust your machine settings: Experiment with slightly longer stitch lengths to mimic the look of hand embroidery. Reduce your machine's speed for more control over intricate designs. - Choose the right needle: A 75/11 sharp needle works well for most redwork projects. Replace your needle regularly to maintain stitch quality. - Pay attention to tension: Proper thread tension is crucial for achieving even stitches. Test your tension on a scrap piece of fabric before starting your project. - Care for your finished pieces: When washing redwork embroidery, use cool water and a mild detergent. Avoid harsh scrubbing, and air dry or tumble dry on low heat to preserve the stitching. IX. Conclusion Redwork embroidery's enduring appeal lies in its perfect balance of simplicity and impact.
