So I started dating a fabulous American guy about 6 months ago and this week is his birthday. Had no idea what to get him so I made him this box. He has a tattoo with an eagle and stars on his arm so I designed the top with that in mind and found some fabulous American Flag ribbon at Hobby Lobby for the bottom trim. The box is from Joann. I lined the inside with blue felt as well. So what do you think folks? I'm a nervous wreck whether he will like, but made it with all my heart so hope he will. He has no idea I've made him something.

Still proud of this quilt although I'm sad I rushed to quilt it for a show deadline (and it wasn't good enough for them). I learned so many things for this. And it's full of quilting easter eggs that are impossible to photograph. The glow in the dark windows are still my favorite thing.

Needlepoint

While cleaning out a cupboard, I found a partially completed needlepoint with threads in a paper bag from a store that no longer exists. I think it was begun by my late mother-in-law, so must be older than 35 years! It's now finished and set into a box lid.

I got this beautiful dragon girl and her original dress was so boring I had to embroider one and I'm remarkably pleased with it. Look at her!

unimaginative haters with no whimsy kept telling me to go to ikea to get things for the house but because im a genius i went to antikkvarehuset instead and got this single most gorgeous thing ive ever seen for $47 i can't stop looking at it

Saw a bird in my dream and I called it a cassowary but it was NOT one of those. I'll give myself a slide though because I was running up a mountain to save my computer from a burning building but it was SO off.

hell yeah!!!

i decided because gift giving is a personal hell for me (i get overwhelmed), i decided i’m crocheting gifts for my friends for the end of year holidays!

- a dachshund with a daisy hat for my friend who loves dachshunds, owns 2, and lost her girl daisy last year

- a sloth for my friend who’s favourite animals are sloths (i have a couple other things for him too)

- a potion bottle dice bag and matching dragon for my friend who is also my dm

- an elephant who may get a pink shirt for my friend who loves elephants (i might also make a stethoscope because they’re also a nurse)

i’m also going to do some baking for them! give them all some cookies!!

i also made a throw blanket earlier this year as a housewarming gift for a friend who bought her first home!

no one look at me i’m being sappy abt xarrastarion. anyway i can’t stop thinking abt astarion embroidering little fragments of xarrai’s poetry or songs on his clothes post-game like the one that larian patched out of the description for his camp clothes. smth abt keeping them close to his skin always… the way he starts to learn who they are when they start showing him the things they’ve never shown anyone else and the comfort he finds in their words (despite giving them so much shit every time they wax poetic at him). i’m ill. xarrai calls him a hopeless romantic and he tells them they have no room to talk bc they’re a fucking bard. he stitches their words into the cuff of his sleeve in thread just barely a different color from his shirt so he can ghost his fingers over them like a talisman against the dark and the weight of his memory. years later there’s a love song xarrai won’t outright say is about him embroidered in it’s entirety on the inside of his winter coat where it lays against his chest.

is there a reasonable market in, like, secondhand tallit? i want a new one that doesn't a. have rust stains b. give me severe dysphoria due to its delicate feminine embroidery, but i would really love to not give money to israeli judaica companies right now. and i also want it to be made of natural fibers and be nice to look at while im making demands

Stumpwork

Another little stumpwork project completed. This one features padding and padded slips and measures 3.5 x 4.5 inches. My own design based on a photo.

I'm very happy with it!

It's an origami butterfly pattern that I've known for ages but I made it out of fabric instead and stitched it together. Plus a bonus lump on the front to better reflect the shape

This also might be the first time I've put my face on my Tumblr. Happy face reveal? Meh idrc, my face doesn't mean much to be anyways.
