Congratulations to Princess Ingrid Alexandra, who graduated from Elvebakken Upper Secondary School today! Her parents and other members of her family attended the graduation ceremony.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra wore her Askerbunad for the ceremony, which was a gift from her home municipality of Asker upon her confirmation in 2019.

It is unknown what Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s future plans are, whether that is university, a gap year, or military service.

June 18, 2024 | Happy graduation day to Prince Sverre-Magnus! For the last 3 years, the Prince has been studying at Elvebakken videregående skole (Elvebakken Upper Secondary School) in Oslo. The Crown Prince Couple & the Queen attended the graduation ceremony today.

The oldeat daughter of the Norwegian crown prince couple, Ingrid Alexandra went first to Jansløkka skole, the same school her older half-brother went to, but whn he graduated, her parents sent her to a private school for year 4-8 "to improve her English". It was in the news because it was a huge breach of tradition.

This school is Oslo Internationl school

which offers education from age 3-19 with an age division which is distinctly different than the Norwegian system.

She switched to a public school for the last two years of her lower secondary education, and attended Elvebakken vgs/upper secondary/high school, a school known for its focus on creativity. (Also the school Even in SKAM went to before he got sick.) She's currently serving a year in the armed forces.

The switch of schools before year 9 is interesting, because from the age of 15 kids can choose their own education. She's born in January so she may have told her parents that unless they let her switch schools at the start of the school year, she'd switch after christmas and it would look bad for them.

Her younger brother Sverre Magnus went to the same school as her the first three years, but when she switched to Oslo International school, he was moved to Oslo Montessoriskole. He stayed there for the rest of his primary and lower secondary education. He's currently attending Elvebakken vgs/upper secondary/high school, where he's studying IT tech and media.

Her father and her aunt attended a private high school in Oslo (KG/Kristelig Gymnasium, previously Oslo katedralskole, nicknamed Katta), but it's not a boarding school, and I doubt it has excessive school fees.

In the fictional world of Young Royals, all the children of the Norwegian crown prince couple went to a private upper secondary/high school, but a Norwegian division.

The second child of Prince Guillaume, The Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg and Princess Stephanie, The Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg. The little one will join two year old Prince Charles.

The first child of Louis Ducruet & Marie Ducuret likely due late spring, the little one will join big brother, the couple’s dog, Pancake.

hello! :) I was wondering what was your opinion on the davenzi argument and I love you scene at the pool (episode 9 clip 7)? Did you like it or not really (including everything like acting, pacing, what they said, etc)

Hi anon! 🎷 Lmao I hope you weren’t looking for a critical opinion, because that’s one of my favorite s3 scenes. I really like it by itself, as a remake of O Helga Natt, and also for teenie characters being dumb reasons.

Okay so:

David’s voicemail for Matteo: While I consider Even’s text a straight up s*icide note, I think David’s voicemail plays with the idea of, is it a s*icide note or is it a goodbye message? If Matteo goes to the pool, is David going to be there, or will it be too late (in both a s*icide and a goodbye sense of late)? I also obviously love that David finally shares in Matteo’s worldview. Throughout the season, David has denied he believes in fate, but in this message he says that fate wasn’t on their side, i.e. he has given the idea that he and Matteo are fated some thought. Later in the scene, David also asks Matteo to run away together! When he previously said that he’d run away alone in the case of a catastrophe. Like, this is David internalizing Matteo’s worldview and using it to express himself.

When the season was dropping, and because the dynamic in so many of their scenes was reversed compared to Isak and Even, I thought that it would be David who would tell Matteo he’s not alone. Matteo was the one to say he didn’t want to be alone, so it just made sense to me that they’d change this up. I also have an unpopular opinion, which is that I think The Weeknd’s Call Out My Name was a fitting song for the soundtrack and the clip it showed up in. The thing is, Matteo really did make David his priority throughout the season, he dumped Sara for David, he followed David’s lead and only really pushed that one time. When the song says, “falling for you was my mistake,” for me, it’s about the fact that David keeps running away from him despite Matteo being 100% in and Matteo being clear that he hated being abandoned, not about David being trans. (I mean, I get my interpretation doesn’t totally make sense in the context of this scene, but I love the song and I think my interpretation still works, so let me have this thing please lol.) All this to say that I felt Matteo had a right to be “what the hell, David!!” in this scene, because at this point Matteo has been running after David for around 24 houts, and David’s like, “I guess this is goodbye :(” 

I don’t think Call Me By Your Name deserves a bop such as Visions of Gideon, so I’m pleased that Druck reclaimed it for David and Matteo, who are ten times more deserving than Elio and Oliver. I also think it provides enough tension for the scene, because it’s a goodbye song, and at this point we don’t know if David’s even going to be at the pool.

But it turns out that it was just a goodbye note, and maybe not even a goodbye note. Maybe it was an “I’m sad please come find me :(” note. (Sidenote to say that I love David’s flair for the dramatic lmao.) I would love to wax poetic on what David’s state of mind was at this point, like did he think Matteo would show up? I think he at least hoped Matteo would, since he gave Matteo every clue to find him. And it’s not like he was getting ready to leave lmao, he was just chilling and doodling. 

Anyway, while I think Matteo had every right to say, “are you kidding me!!” I also want to make it clear I don’t discount David’s pov. From a narrative pov, I think it was really important that David gets to talk in this scene. In Skam, we get a lot of little hints and clues as to how Even feels about what went down in Elvebakken the previous year, including his snapping at Sonja in the Halloween clip. This is the first and only time we get to hear about this part of David’s backstory (since it wasn’t part of Amira’s season, unlike Even’s in Sana’s). So, in episode 1 we were told that David switched schools with only a few weeks of his last year left, and in this episode we get to hear exactly why. 

And also, like, I love that David gets to be angry about how unfair it all was. In fiction, victims of bullying (and esp LGBTphobic bullying) can be presented as sort of martyred saints who don’t get to have an emotion other than sad. I think anger is a very valid emotion if deployed in the right moment (obviously I’m not advocating for Sporty Spice to continue being an asshole lmao), and in general I’m a fan of marginalized characters getting to be angry.

Again, I could wax poetic forever about how David has seen himself as going it alone all this time, even as he’s been picking up friends (and a boyfriend) left and right. I don’t necessarily think that Matteo’s friends would’ve organized a whole meeting to help David out, if they hadn’t known that David and Matteo were a thing, but like... That’s it. The fact that David responded to Matteo, that he opened up to Matteo, that he made Matteo visibly happier, resulted in Matteo’s friends caring about David in return, which is very true of real life. David had every reason not to open up to Matteo given his experiences, but he did and he trusted Matteo and, because of that, he was rewarded!!!!

And yes, from their very first scene together, it was very clear that Matteo thought David was the coolest guy he’d ever seen. Love all the throwbacks in this scene.

Matteo also has experience with going through really rough times, but he has always disliked being alone, and in the course of the season, he’s also learned that isolating himself only makes things harder. It’d be so easy for the writers to have Matteo say, “it’s all gonna be okay,” but that’s not what Matteo is saying. Matteo says yes, going back to school after you were outed is going to suck, having to confront Neuhaus is going to suck, it’s not going to be okay or easy, but this isn’t how the story ends or how your school year ends, because I’m not leaving, and I love you and I want to be with you and by your side. Everything is going to be awful, but we’re going to face it together. 

And I just fucking love that David was having a breakdown five seconds ago, and when we see him again after Matteo says he loves him, we can see by his profile that he’s grinning from ear to ear. Knowing that he’s loved changes everything for him, as it should!! He’s not a shitty vampire cast aside from society! He, David Schreibner, is loved by the person he loves in return!!!!!! I loved that the pics Matteo posted after this scene show David making dumb faces because that’s what first love is like babey! Catastrophizing one second and all smiles the next. 

Annnd the episode closes with the same song it started with, Hozier’s Take Me To Church. Only this time it’s the chorus, which is celebratory and joyful, as opposed to the contemplative tone of the first verses.

5 July 2021: The Royal Court announced that Prince Sverre Magnus will attend Elvebakken Upper Secondary School to complete his education starting this fall. He will focus on information technology and media studies.

The Prince’s older sister, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, is a current student, and his grandmother, Queen Sonja, graduated from the school, then known as Oslo Vocational School, in the mid-1950s.

Previously, Prince Sverre Magnus attended Jansløkka Elementary School and Oslo Montessori School.

-he went to school at Nissen but you were at Elvebakken so no one of your schoolmates knew about him and neither did his‘

-he had told you basically everything about his best friends William and Eliott (see what i did here😏) but they didnt know you guys were seeing each other

-but since both of you were pretty busy with school you could only see him on weekends and that was pretty hard

-so you decided to surprise him and transfer schools to Nissen without telling him

-you had talked to your parents and they didnt really care where u went to school, they just wanted you to have good grades

-in the morning of your first day at Nissen you got a text from Chris saying „have fun at school today baby.“

-you started smirking, grabbed your bag and walked out of the door to get to the bus stop

-you knew he usually was picked up this William guy so he wouldnt see you on your way

-about 30 minutes later your bus stopped close to the school and you followed the other students to make sure you got there

-you had put on your hood in case he might see you he wouldn’t recognize you right away

-since you didnt see him anywhere you walked inside the building to talk to the principal

-after that he took you to your new classroom where he knocked at first since it was already after 8

-he talked to the english teacher first before i got in

-when you entered the room you felt a pair of big shocked green eyes on you and you stopped yourself from grinning

-„this is y/n, she transferred here from Elvebakken“ the teacher introduced me to the class

-but one person already knew everything about you

-and he kept staring at you

-„you can sit over here, y/n.“

-you walked to your new desk a row in front of Chris so you could see his expression in the corner of your right eye

-your english teacher continued her class until break when you left the classroom to get to the chem labor

-suddenly you felt a hand grabbing your shoulder and you turned around with a big proud smirk on your face

-„what are you doing??“ he asked straight away

-„what does it look like hun? Im going to my next class at my new school“

-he pulled you behind the lockers and pushed your back against them

-he then bit his lip and whispered:“you know i cant kiss you right now but i want to so bad.“

-you grinned at him, put your hand on his chest to push him back slightly

-you then put on an innocent facial expression and spoke:“i dont know what you mean, im just new here. If you excuse me, i gotta get to class.“

-you left him standing there and walked away with the same smirk still plastered on your face

-you loved yourself for that

-after your todays classes you walked outside to meet chris somewhere far away from school

-when you walked through the hallway you noticed how people were staring at you and whispering things to their friends

-you had no clue why since no one couldve seen you and chris before and no one knew anything about you

-you also knew chris‘ reputation at nissen and about what he had done before dating you

-even tho people don’t believe that, he‘s actually a very sensitive guy that just does stupid things to push his things further away from him

-when you reached the schoolyard, a girl suddenly came up to you and asked „have you noticed how penetrator chris was looking at you in art class?“

-the name made you laugh out loud since he hadnt told you about his nice little nickname

-william rolled his eyes and spoke:“dude just kiss your girlfriend hello.“

-chris looked at him, then looked at me and without hesitation he planted a soft kiss on my lips

-„hi.“ he then whispered and looked back at william

-„did you tell him?“ he asked you

-„there was no need to.“ william answered cool

-„the way you were undressing her with your eyes was enough to see whats going on.“

-chris scratched the back of his head and laughed a little

-you were just standing there grinning at how amazing his best friend handled that strange situation

-after not speaking for a while william took his keys out of his pocket and threw them at chris

-chris was clearly confused and looked at him

-„what?“ he asked

-„get your girlfriend home and take care that no one else finds out.“

-chris smiled and you guys walked to the car

Subtext and Culture, Season 3, Episode 2

Subtext: Again, SKAM does the dual dialogue thing it loves so much. Eskild is talking about the closeted guy from Grindr he’s going to hook up with, but his comment applies 100% to Isak. Blink and you miss it: Julian Dahl has signed up for Kosegruppa. Stalker. Blink and you miss it: The video by Mikael is from September 2014 when both him and Even had just started their second year. Mikael is in 2MKD at Elvebakken, which means he’s studying Media and Communication, while Even is doing college prep in 2STD. But if Even was a second-year in 2014, he should have graduated spring 2016, so already here is our first hint that he has missed a year of school for some reason. Subtext: No, Vilde’s mom is not having friends over for wine. She’s recycling an excuse Chris used back in season 1.

Blink and you miss it: Isak looks scared again for a moment, because he thought he could keep his chat with Vilde a secret from the other guys, but here they come, and now he has to explain why he’s invested in Kosegruppa all of a sudden. Culture: The piece of music that starts playing as Isak watches Even walk across the schoolyard is Talk Show Host by Radiohead. In Baz Luhrman’s Romeo+Juliet, this song plays the first time we get to see Romeo. Cinematography: We can see Emma coming towards Isak, but his focus is 100% on Even, so the camera’s focus is also 100% on Even. He’s so uninterested in Emma that she’s just some blur in his field of vision. Blink and you miss it: Magnus actually checks out Vilde up and down before graciously offering himself up to her.

Lost in translation: Nøkkelost, literally “Key cheese”, is the Norwegian name for cumin cheese, so their little word play on forgetting keys and cheese is completely untranslatable. Culture: Pottagaldrar is an Icelandic spice brand, not a kind of spice: https://www.pottagaldrar.is/

Thirsty Thursday

Gifset prompt: Skam characters eating their words

Thursday is a day to be thirsty and I’m thirsty for Skam gifs! I really like how a lot of the Skam characters end up eating their words. So, I would love to see a gifset where we see that. I have seen some of these, I think, but not all. 

Some examples: 

Eva: 

“The whole school hates me,” she says in s1. And in s4 we see her surrounded by a great group of friends.

She also tells Jonas that she can read his messages. In season 4 (I think), she tells Vilde that she and Magnus should be able to trust each other without showing each other their messages (I’m paraphrasing, because I can’t recall what she said, lol).

Jonas:

“I had a nightmare,” Jonas tells Eva in s1. “I dreamed that you wore red clothes. You were completely drunk and sang: ‘Tonight it's allowed to be a whore’." 

And then, in s4, Eva is dancing to just that song...

Jonas also says “I never want to hook up with a 00'er!”, and then in s4, he hooks up with Emma. 

Isak: 

Isak says this to Eva in a chat, about going to Elvebakken: “you’ll become a wannabe creative media and communication person, Oslove who dig street art and you can only drink coffee made by hand-picked coffee beans burned on berries and harmony from Chile at Tim Wendelbo”.

He also tells her: “It's actually not that complicated, Eva. It's just what people do. If you want to change schools because things are a little f*cked up, you are someone who gives up easily.”

Annnnd then he ends up falling in love with Even, a “wannabe creative media and communication person”, lol.

He also says: “I’m not gay.” I guess that speaks for itself.

And: “I've decided that my life is better without mentally ill people around me.” Ouch. He puts his foot in his mouth a lot, doesn’t he.

And he tells Sana that everybody in Norway aren’t prejudiced (or racist, I’m paraphrasing here). Then he experiences some really unpleasant comments on his birthday. This is more sad than amusing, of course. 

Noora: 

Noora says “Vilde, it's never going to happen between me and William. He's the most unsympathetic, selfish person I've ever met. I would never touch him” in the beginning of s2. 

She also says “I'm not hooking up!” (with the 97’ers).

And, well, we know what happens. 

Sana:

“I’m never wrong,” Sana says, both in s2 and s3. Well, that’s not entirely true. 

For instance: “Homosexuality is a genetic deadend,” she says in s3 and realizes in the end that it’s not true at all. 

“We'll get that bus,” she says in the beginning of s4, and well, they didn’t. 

There are probably a lot more of these, but I can’t think of more, right now. No matter what, I would love to see gifsets showing some of these contrasts. This is an open prompt. And if someone has made it already, show it to me please! <3
