Just thought of the cutest edlucky au ever...heads up that im basing this off of my own country's school system 👍👍👍
Ella on her first day as a 1st grader after being homeschooled, SUPER nervous, only to run into 3rd grader: Lucky
She got lost and somehow stumbled into their floor, looking for Edgar, and Lucky was the one who found her. He helped her get back to her classroom but it took two teachers for them to pry her off of Lucky's leg/lh
When Ella gets back home, she immediately starts rambling about her day to Edgar, telling him of the "super cool and super nice!!" Lucky who guided her back to her class
Edgar worries over her for a bit, and gets a bit jealous because IM HER BIG BROTHER!!! He may or may not have delusionized himself into thinking that Lucky was only helpful to Ella because she was a Valden/lh
Ella meets Lucky again the next week in the library, and they hit it off! Ella really likes poking and counting the freckles on Lucky's face, and sometimes she goes all the way to Lucky's classroom just to get her hair done. Lucky helps her in subjects she struggles with in return and suggests books in the library for her to read
Something something cute slice of life kid edlucky...Edgar using Ella as an excuse to visit Lucky's class and NO he does not like him!! He's probably only associating with them because theyre Valdens!!
Which is why he needs to get closer to him and create a portrait of Lucky for his birthday...this will definitely make them closer....totally...
Them growing up together, practically attached to the hip, yet they dont realize their feelings for each other. ELLA figured it out first and she's sick of them and sick of Edgar continuously asking her when's their next study session with Lucky so he can "accompany" her (He's going to end up staying and listen to Lucky speak like it's the most interesting thing in the world) (He's talking about circles)
From 3rd grade all the way up to FUCKING HIGHSCHOOL. Ella's in 8th grade and theyre in 10, but THEY STILL HAVENT GOTTEN THEIR SHIT TOGETHER
8 years together and you'd think that Lucky finally realizes that his feelings are reciprocated whenever Edgar flirts with him ("That drawing looks absolutely horrendous. You're better off sitting still and looking pretty as my muse so that your beauty doesn't go to waste like your skills." "What" "What").
EVEN WORSE, Edgar thinks that him and Ella being Valdens is one of the reasons why Lucky is still sticking around, their hangouts just being a fun bonus. SICKENING. YOU HAVE HAD MORE THAN 40 SLEEPOVERS WITH HIM AND SLEPT ON THE SAME BED CUDDLING. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER.
Edgar is forced to finally acknowledge his feelings when Lucky reveals that he's moving to a different school for senior high, which means he'll also have to move away. But the big question: does he ACT on them before it's too late?
#thinking that Lucky figures out his crush on edgar WAY earlier than edgar himself#5th or 6th grade maybe..#ella is either their biggest fan and their biggest hater#no in between!!#kid edgar giving kid lucky a clover...telling him to wear it in his hair so he can paint him....aeoerugh#identity v#idv lucky guy#idv#identity 5#lucky guy#idv lucky#identity v lucky guy#my ideas!#idv painter#edgar valden#ella valden#edlucky#edlucky....save me edlucky...

Today's disabled character of the day is Ella Valden from Identity V, who has an unspecified chronic illness
[Image Description: Drawing of a girl leaning over a wooden table while hiding her face behind a white piece of paper. She has short brown hair and we can see one of her black button eyes peaking over the paper. She is wearing a long sleeve purple top, green cloche hat with a white flower on the side. On the right of the frame a hand is reaching out to her.]

Gotta rant about Edgar Valden rq
Cause seriously, his character is so cool to me. Like, you have the basic rundown. Rich kid ran away from home because he was dissatisfied with his life there. But then, all of that ends up just being a red herring. The “dissatisfaction” which always came off as him just being in his own head and looking down on others because he thinks he’s better than them gets flipped on its head with his 3rd letter. All of his trash talk makes so much more sense. He wasn’t just saying he didn’t care about other people’s opinions or money or fame because he was super self absorbed. He was saying that because he knew first hand the damage chasing money, fame, and power can cause. Really thinking about it, his father basically killed his entire family for status. And then, with the slight implication that Edgar’s dad knew what Sarai was doing to Edgar the whole time, he let his son get groomed by a man for over a decade and kept him on a payroll. Now, it’s vague about what Sarai did to Edgar, but it was obviously bad enough to deteriorate his mental health to the point of having hallucinations. All that, and his dad never got rid of Sarai. Never fired him. Nothing. Which makes sense, because having a super talented artist in the family looks good for their status. Probably covered up all the controversy their family had too. Why would his dad care? He couldn’t care enough to let his wife rest to get better from her illness, or to actually look for his youngest child when she went missing.
For the little we do know about Sarai, we know he taught Edgar that praise is the highest form of love. Again, playing into the idea that Edgar was brought up to try and appease others and try to get status and fame. This is even kinda hinted at in his very first letter when he tells Ella that he’s going to become a famous artist, a goal he ends up feeling disillusioned to. The fact he still kept painting even after no longer wanting fame and recognition shows his love for painting was rooted in something much deeper than that. Then, referencing back to his deductions where he says that life is beautiful and the brush can preserve that beauty, it shows exactly what it was that keeps him going with art. He thinks life is beautiful. A simple reason, but a lovely one nonetheless. He cherishes the beautiful moments like the time he had with his mother or Ella.
This also could change what he even meant by looking for inspiration when going to the manor. When he talks about how he finds no inspiration in his home, it’s not something as simple as everything is just boring. He talks about how the culture of the aristocracy is just straight up draining for him. The greed. The constant push for more money and status, even at the cost of loved ones. The shallowness. There’s no beauty in it, he can’t find inspiration in it. Even as he signs off his farewell letter, he implies he would never go back home. He’s not just running off on some little trip to find inspiration and go home right after. He was straight up cutting off the life he once knew because it wasn’t really a life at all. As he puts it, he was just another decoration for his dad. For most of his life, he was kind of treated as less than human. More like a party trick for his dad to show off and gain their family more status.
And while we don’t know much about his role in game 5, the context of the game makes him stand out a lot. Outside of the fact that Edgar wasn’t in a faction at the start and the only character truly confirmed dead, his goals are also completely different from the rest of the group and he thematically differs from the others. Every other character is in some way trying to fix some “issue” with themself to try to assimilate into a group they were ostracized from (I say issue in quotes because it’s usually something out of their control that they honestly shouldn’t have been blamed for). Chloe trying to become Vera to be accepted, Jose trying to get his first officer title back and rejoin the aristocracy (or his alcoholism in order to maintain his station as a first officer in the first place), Kevin trying to prove to himself that he’s reached a point where he could’ve protected Angelina so he can face her tribe, and Patricia trying to rid herself of her curse in order to be accepted into her mother’s village. Meanwhile, there’s Edgar who was wanted by his community, but not taken care of by them. All five of them have a similar goal, to get some form of community and support, but Edgar is in a much different position from the rest of his team since he is more confident in himself and who he is. It’s never been called into question, and I don’t think that’s a negative trait either since every time someone in game 5 tries to correct their “flaw” it causes more harm than good. From Chloe killing her sister who was innocent, to Jose accidentally poisoning Kevin who was innocent, Patricia killing Edgar even though he didn’t do anything to her, and even Kevin being self destructive in drinking the poison. Not to mention three out of four of them feel regret and unfulfilled after they do it (and the one I’m not counting is Patricia because it’s not fully confirmed, but tbh there are things that foreshadow her not feeling fulfilled either so you could make it four out of four). Edgar, at least on the surface, didn’t internalize that there was something wrong with him that made the people around him treat him like trash, mainly because he was always desired by the people around him. These people still weren’t good for him though, leading to the lack of inspiration they give him. As he says, he’s looking for “fresh colors” and Edgar only refers to colors when he’s talking about someone he cared for (his mom = green, Ella = white, Sarai = red). Edgar looking for fresh colors could probably roughly translate to looking for new companionship with people that actually care about him.
If I really wanted to get into the internalizing thing tho, I’d probably say his willingness to sacrifice himself probably comes from…
1. Being so used to getting treated like a tool his entire life he thinks it’s the standard to a degree (hence why he’ll complain about having to play hero roles but still gets them regularly anyway)
2. Being unable to truly repent to Patricia because he can’t bring himself to apologize for killing Sarai (and he shouldn’t tbh, especially considering that was like his first act of true autonomy)
3. And lastly, just not really having anywhere to go after the manor. His goalpost ended at the manor while the other four saw it more as a stepping stone to get to other places.
And that’s not even getting into his overall lore relevance because let’s not act like he didn’t imply the Deross family are family friends of the Valden family in his 3rd letter. PLUS he has ties to Barriere.
He’s always got this slightly hopeful air to him, like he still believes there’s something out there that can bring him the happiness and love he once had. It’s honestly just a really nice breather from the usual doom and gloom of idv’s storyline (granted his story is still depressing asf, but for idv standards it’s pretty happy. Like his 3rd letter where he just goes no contact with his dad is probably one of the healthiest things I’ve ever seen an idv character do). Even in the end, he gets the ending he wanted. He finds the inspiration he was looking for, but tbh I don’t think it was death that he was trying to achieve. His deaths are always portrayed as sacrifices specifically. It’s usually not something he really wants to do. Runaway didn’t want to risk his life and put himself in danger with mir, but he does it because he doesn’t want to abandon the followers to a cult. Censer didn’t want to die, he still really wanted to see his creator’s wish come true, but he accepts death if it will bring it closer to coming true. Even in his experiment file, Orpheus says Edgar accepted it at the end, so he decides to accept it at the end of the game. Most likely for some greater goal that hasn’t been revealed yet since Orpheus was hella vague in his experiment file.
I could honestly go on and on about how well executed his whole character is too. With how well they played into double entendres with his words and used a lot of art metaphors to hide his actual character so on the surface you wouldn’t clock it immediately. Or the carefully picked art references they used in his trailer that all tie into his character really well (I still think he has one of the best trailers to date). To even the way his birthday letters are released. Keeping his perspective on game 5 hidden despite probably having the most reliable account, instead having other characters describe him to play into the misdirection.
I could literally talk for hours about Edgar Valden, he is the idv character of all time and I love him sm

Explaining IDV characters' lore bc I'm bored (Part 1)
Note: I researched upon different sources and let me know if I forgot something or wrote anything wrong <3 Also, I'm only covering backstories and won't go fully explain like what exactly happened to them during the games.
𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗮𝗿 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻 (The Painter)
▪︎ Since at a young age, the Valden family's only son, Edgar Valden, exhibits high-talent and passion for art.
▪︎ The constant pampering and praises he receives from relatives and close family acquaintances led to his eccentric personality. He came to believe that fate destined him a best start–which is his love for art, starting from day one.
▪︎ His younger sister Ella, whom he had a close bond with, unfortunately fell bedridden at the young age of 5 and died a year later. This causes him to focus solely on art.
▪︎ Some years later, an old friend reached out to him and recommended Mr. Sarai and he became Edgar's private art tutor.
▪︎For some time later, Edgar came to the realization that Mr. Sarai didn't truly love art and was only after to covet money from the Valdens just like everyone else. Under the "guidance" of Mr. Sarai, he went through a loss for inspiration as he felt that his artworks were not appreciated properly.
▪︎ Lately, he began hearing his paintings screeching and crying on the walls: "If you need his color, why don't you take it yourself?"
▪︎ Shortly, Mr. Sarai went missing, and missing person posters were spread out everywhere. (Implied to be killed by Edgar with a letter opener) Ever since that incident, Edgar holds strongly to his belief that nobody else is worthy to speak to him about art but himself.
▪︎ After this, he departed to the Oletus Manor in search of new inspiration.
That's all, thank you!!

hi im back with.an edgar valden character analysis also my wording may be a little bit weird dont ask about that
ok so edgar technically has two lores (??), the canon one and the original one (ill prob only write the pre-manor lore tho). in the canon one, he has a little sister called Ella, and she was like one of the only ppl he cared about, but she died cuz their father didn't take care of his sister (his mother too but yeah) (A Message Behind A Portrait, "When I was 6, mother left green behind in the carriage. When I was 8, my younger sister left white behind in the painting room" and A Farewell Letter "And young Ella, only six, forgotten by you on a sweltering afternoon. You were preoccupied with my "birthday celebration," neglecting the game you had promised her. Her tiny body curled in the painting room, her face pale as an asphyxiated fish, waiting for you to open the door until her last breath"). at some point, they got him a tutor/teacher (Mr. Sarai), and edgar thought that he like actually cared about him, but then he realized that he did not actually care about him (A Message Behind A Portrait, "Later on, Mr. Sarai was the only person who understood me, but sadly, he started revealing his true colors—he was a filthy liar."), so he killed him with a letter opener, and then used Sarai's blood to paint cuz..red is pretty (and gentle)
in the original lore, Ella was replaced with Maple Valden, who didn't die and was instead the one that delivered the manor letter to Edgar, and Edgar instead used the letter opener to basically cut himself to get blood for paintings
also it was implied that edgar was SA'd by Sarai in one of his deduction quests ("Coloring: Sometimes the first stroke will determine the colors of the entire painting. /Diary 1: I had a weird dream. Master was holding my hand to paint on a canvas...") , but it was never confirmed
amd things in the manor... he knew that patty was going to kill him, but didn't do anything abt it (A Page from Edgar Valden's Experiment File, "Subject 5-?-1's rationality comes from his obsession with art, but in the end, it was art that led to his fall by making him give up all resistance and willingly sacrifice himself." and Patty's letter Eerie words written on a piece of cloth, "May you be surrounded by rivers of blood and sing your swan song in repent."), he also bullied Jose (put the blame on him cuz Kevin left) with Vera until Jose cried/had a mental breakdown. kevin also thought he was rude to patty (i dont remember why) but in edgar's letter it was said that he remained calm in most of his interactions in the manor
how obvious is it that i really like edgar valden
ohh okay i see thank you for the explanation 🤔 i'll answer in list format for ease of reading TOT
i forgot that edgar was a community made character TOT its neat that he has an original lore page from the creator, i should check some of the other ones (iirc aesop was also one of these types of characters :?)
also edgars artistic motivation is still a bit unclear to me but i haven't dug too deep lmao. from what i've gathered it seems like he sees it as elevated above material things and this isolated him (further than normal, considering the dead sister), but i dont know what he finds positive 🤔 lmk if you have any thoughts on that
i'd argue that the deduction about the dream is most likely edgars awareness on sarai's pursuit of the family's wealth rather than an indication of assault. it's probably referring to the fact that sarai was using edgar's work for money rather than genuine artistic expression, which is why edgar felt like sarai was the one directing him and not allowing him creative freedom - hence 'holding his hand' to paint. it also doesn't look like there's any other references to an event like this, and the related deductions just detail sarai's materialistic connection to art as a product. i'm disinclined to jump the gun on assuming sexual violence in an unclear plot point when there's a more reasonable explanation without it.
i have to review some of the other files again but the manor game files are known to have inconsistencies - they're written by another character rather than being an unbiased retelling, despite the fancy format (it's hard to call someone objectively 'arrogant' or 'aggressive' lol, and there's 100% some sort of profiling going on a lot of the time). iirc kevin was protective of patricia because she was a woman (more to this but for brevity this is the simplest explanation they have in the letter) and because she was perceived by the others as a 'foreigner' (esp if you consider that most of the other players were white, and that the letters stated there were cultural/class divides between the players).
#ask#anonymous#ask to tag#idv#i should tag these more properly#idk if i should meta tag this idk him too well lmao

“Eddy has been dreaming about her sisters again last night- I hope he’s alright…”
-Luca
OOC// When Maple is not mentioned in Edgar’s official lore and you see a different sister named Ella, but you still want to put her as another Edgar’s sibling- :) and yes, I know Ella is actually sick and probably dead by then but let me draw them being happily together plz- :’)
