Some Stargate Atlantis doodles I drew back in 2009 (and touched up a tiny bit recently) that I'm sharing partly for a little bit of self accountability, as I've been wanting to redraw this page for a long time, and still haven't gotten to it. And also partly sharing this because, despite a few things I desperately wish I'd known how to draw back then (like all of Rodney; for the life of me I could not figure out how to draw him right, and I still feel awful about it 😭), and despite now wishing I'd drawn other things differently, I still somehow drew all of this from memory alone (while out of the house and itching to continue my fifth-or-so consecutive SGA rewatch), and I am proud of it in the end! And wanted to share, mistakes and successes and all. And hope any other SGA fans who might see this like it too.

And yeah, am hoping to revisit this sometime soon and see how much my art has changed since then, and hopefully also manage to do everyone justice this time. And maybe have John and Rodney interacting with each other too. And am hoping to draw Teyla and Ronon someday soon too. And so many others and more SGA in general too; I still love them all and this show so much!

The Return 1&2 as per @colonelshepparrrrd suggestion.

Man these are so good, just, they make me so happy. Even the title makes me happy because that's exactly what it is. It's so painful to have everyone leaving home. Everyone is mad and sad. But when everything goes down and Atlantis is in danger, her family comes for her.

Woolesy tells Sheppard the Replicators are coming, but the Ancients aren't worried, and it's good the Ancients took back the city because-

Sheppard finishes the thought with: I'd have lost the city anyway.

He made it so personal. We know he's pissed. We know he misses his team, even Rodney. It's so personal because this is his home.

Can we talk about how much I love Rodney calling Sheppard since he can't just walk into his room and talk to him?

Teyla to Ronon: I know you're eager to return to the fight.

Another element of returning, they want back in the fight with the Wraith, not just Ronon, all of them.

Sheppard to Ronon: I need you because you're part of my Team.

Then it ends with Elizabeth just grinning from ear to ear, which is what I'm doing too. Atlantis is home and her people belong there.

Just a heads up that I'm planning on posting nothing but SGA and I'm even going to attempt to get my creative juices back online and make some new things in celebration of the day. What I love about the early relationship between Hammond and SG-1 is that I honestly think he doesn't like them very much.

He's a no-nonsene kind of General and between the archeologist that a) needs to touch everything and b) fucked of to another planet, the alien-warrior that is trying to intimidate him (as if that would work), the colonel who used to be a damn fine soldier but a) lied about the very important mission to Abydos and b) has for some godforsaken reason adopted the alien warrior and the scientist that just goes with whatever Bullshit the other three come up with; he would very much like to disband SG-1.

And you cannot convince me otherwise, Hammond is done with their Bullshit around episode five.

Unfortunately by then it's also becoming apparent that those four are the best team he's got because while they do get in the worst trouble they usually get themselves out on their own again.

And around the time Hathor shows up he's come to the final realization that dealing with aliens and space gates means he needs to run an unorthodox operation and so the unorthodox idiots are the perfect match.

Though I think at that point he's still a bit miffed about O'Neill corrupting Carter😅

Well, and then Maybourne shows up and decides that human rights are only applicable to humans on Earth and that's the point Hammond truly and fully decides to accept SG-1 as his own. Because they are a) right and b) clearly forgetting that things work a bit different on Earth so they need someone to negotiate between them (this includes all Gateteams) and the rest of Earth.

(I'm not sure when exactly he realizes that Teal'c isn't trying to intimidate him or do some Alpha Male Bullshit but that's just his resting face. But I think it's only after the tribunal.)

Now, anyone got ideas when exactly Hammond decided to go "Fuck it. Those bastards could use some SGC-treatment in Washington" aka. becomes half feral himself?

Because I think it probably happened before he sicced Thor on Kinsey but I can't think of a specific scene.

Hammond is absolutely done with SG-1’s shit at any given point, in the most longing, tired dad way, especially in the early seasons.

Stargate-Atlantis S5: E5 Ghost in the Machine

The last Elizabeth Weir episode. 😭

When they give her a voice and she asks if John is there. When she reminds them of how they lost her, twice. When she tells them she's been looking for them for months. You can see the doubt on their faces. Using Elizabeth is using their weak spot and they know it, but they also want to help. They want to help Elizabeth.

Rodney is so determined that since he created this whole mess by reactivation Weir's nanites, he should fix it. It's perfect.

Woolsey proves that he may be a bureaucratic type, but he can still learn to be courageous and stand up to threats.

Sheppard: You may think you're still Elizabeth, but you're not.

This hits home with Elizabeth. She steps in to save Sheppard and sacrifices herself to make things right. Which is exactly what Rodney wanted, to make things right.

The pain on Sheppard's face as he watches Elizabeth once again give her life for Atlantis, for her people is heartbreaking. Rodney says what we're all thinking and feeling: only the real Elizabeth would have done what that Replicator did.
