Elizabeth Walker

Elizabeth Walker, is the main character of The Summer Soldier and the Sunshine Patriot. When we first meet Elizabeth, she’s a nineteenth year old young woman living in the Pennsylvania countryside. Her father, Dr. Joseph Walker, is one of the richest men in the state, and a delegate to the Continental Congress. Her older brother— Joseph Walker Jr.— spends his days cavorting and drinking in occupied Philadelphia. Elizabeth’s mother died when she was ten years old. Since then, Elizabeth’s spent her time on the estate, managing and protecting her home as the British assault on Pennsylvania drags on into the cold winter months…

Six Fun Fact

Because I'm obsessed with spreadsheets, I've been slowly adding more and more data to my little (ok it's big and slows my computer down hardcore) spreadsheet of Six information. Lizz and Impmon were talking about just about anything that came across their minds. They were talking about how Nick pioneered a new type of digivolution, and how Andrea and Rose still haven’t worked through their issues. Then out of nowhere, a Craniummon charges through.

“Just the digi destined I was looking for.” It said, preparing to fire a sonic wave at Lizz and Impmon.

Beelzemon looks at Craniummon and prepares to fire a bullet straight through his heart. Beelzemon fires the shot, but Craniummon’s reflexes are too fast and he blocks the bullet.

“Ah, a Demon Lord, I’ll make sure Zwart knows I’ve killed you.” Hallow Craniummon says as he charges into Beelzemon and tries to stab him with his spear.

Then a bullet flies through his head and Beelstarmon stands there with a smoking gun. She blows the smoke from her gun away.

Between You And I (The World Fades Away) – Spencer Woodbridge/Elizabeth Walker/Edward Woods

A/N: Fic 5 for @jmathesonandsiblings Spooky Season in the Barrens. Set sometime after Spencer left Elizabeth thinking he died. Spencer belongs to @jmathesonandsiblings, Edward and Elizabeth are mine.

“Spencer?” Elizabeth’s voice shudders with unshed tears even as Edward’s hand grips her hip his other hand clenches around his knife, her softness making him pause even as he takes his rival in. Spencer. Her other lover. “Who is…” “The one who dried her tears.” Edward’s voice is low, husky with rage and worry. Spencer steps closer and he adjusts his grip on the knife. He can’t let her go, not now… but perhaps… “A Rival…” “Or A lover…” Elizabeth’s voice is soft, hopeful, her eyes flickering between them both and Edward considers the man again, her hope is so gentle and bright he almost smiles, then shrugs, letting the knife drop, sizing the man up one more time before letting his lips press to Spencer’s. Spencer hesitates, noting the hope in Elizabeth’s eyes, the way that Edward’s lips feel against his own is new, pleasing in the warmth, the gentleness of it, his lips open a little, accepting the kiss before beckoning Elizabeth closer, the two kissing her before Spencer smiles at Edward. “She still a little whiner?” “Mmm, she’s learning to let go louder… maybe we can teach her to scream for us?”

Why do you think it’s now standard for the teal alt to get pants? It works well for Parr but for the other three typical teal covers (Seymour, Boleyn, Howard) I feel like the shorts would suit better. Seymour is sort of a stretch but teal has actually never played Seymour with pants - it’s either been a skirt (Liz, Bryony, Shannen) or shorts (Jen, CJ, Vicki)

I think it was ultimately a redesign for Paisley Billings as a result of the changing cover/costume system.

Similar to what you pointed out with Seymour, teal didn’t always have a super clear default. It did originate with shorts, with Vicki Caldwell, Jennifer Caldwell, and Cherelle Jay all wearing shorts as either their primary or one of their primary variations. But then Nicole Kyoung-Mi Lambert had shorts but they weren’t a primary variation, and Bryony Duncan, Elizabeth Walker, and Shannen Alyce Quan all never had shorts OR a particularly generic variation in general. (Also, quick note that Jen did wear her H skirt for Seymour).

Compare that to pink alt, orange alt, and redesigned black, which all always had a consistent primary variation even when some had different variations on top of the main:

So by the time they got to 2021 West End cast change and the changed alt system, orange/pink both had obvious designs to use, but teal didn’t have anything standardized. That’s probably how we got to the spot of there even being something new.

But as far as why they decided to go for pants rather than shorts or a skirt:

A. Danielle and Paisley got switched in their alt costume assignments, with Paisley originally being intended to have orange. This was after at least initial fittings. It may have been even farther into the process. It’s possible that Paisley got pants purely because she had already been fit and patterned (or with construction even started) for pants with orange alt. That may be supported by the style of her pants, which were the front lacing style that orange typically has. This differed from both all previous teal pants and the next variation as worn by Grace Melville, all of which had side lacing, although with Monique Ashe-Palmer they have switched back to front lacing. So…it’s possible that it was a logistical thing with her having just already been fitted for that style of pants. It’s also just more straightforward and easier to consistently fit for future actors.

B. Still might have just felt like pants were the best fit for Paisley and/or her covers. Shorts were mainly just given as a convenience thing to the alts who were also Cleves covers so they’d only need to change the top, which Paisley obviously didn’t need since she wore principal for Cleves. A skirt would have been most in line with the typical design for B/S/H as 3/4 of her 2nd/3rd covers, but they may have felt like it just wasn’t a good fit for any number of reasons (maybe too many skirts between principals and it being the primary variation for Esme/Rachel/Roxanne). The pants with peplum is undeniably a Parr variation, but Parr was one of her second covers and orange alt for Seymour/Parr has always used pants with peplum as well. The peplum shape also really helps to visually distinguish it. Might have just felt like it was ultimately still different and generic enough to work.

Look Book

As an upper class woman in Early America, Elizabeth has an extensive wardrobe, though it doesn’t get as nearly as much use as it should. If she’s not in the Philadelphia ballrooms, there’s a very, very good chance she’s in a riding habit to fit in with the ~rough and tumble~ atmosphere of the Camp! If she’s not wearing the dress that Benjamin purposely ruined, of course. But here are some fun examples through the story, and a scene of one of her fashion moments… or uh… blunders!

“And,” Hamilton commented, “I see you have already committed to your part.”

He was staring at her outfit.

Elizabeth was wearing her mother’s clothes.

Mary had unlocked the door to her chamber- her mother’s bedchamber, closed off from the world for a decade, for a decade since she had died- and beelined over to the closet, beckoning Elizabeth to follow her. The last time she had been in the room was the last time she saw her mother. She had been laying in the bed, her head raised towards the ceiling, her eyes open as she took shaky, swift breaths, her hair spread over the pillows she was propped up against. She hadn’t been wearing any of her beautiful clothes, the exquisite gowns Elizabeth had always admired, had always been jealous of. She was sweating through her shift.

“Here,” Mary dug into a chest, and revealed her treasure.

She held up a riding habit, and a pair of black leather boots. “Will this do, Miss Lizzie?”

“Oh, Mary, it’s perfect.”

So Mary had dressed her in her mother’s clothes in her mother’s room. She laced her into a pair of her mother’s stays, she held her mother’s coat as Elizabeth walked into it.

Just as Mary’s mother had done for Elizabeth’s.

For a minute, Elizabeth imagined she was her mother, and that she was happy.

That her life hadn’t changed.

For the worst.

The riding habit was made of red wool.

The same red the British wore on their backs.

Now, her cheeks were turning the damned color. You foolish girl, wearing red to the continental camp. So much for blending in, for hiding away. “Forgive me, Colonel Hamilton, I didn’t realize-” she looked at Benjamin. ‘Are we allowed to wear red in camp?”

Benjamin rolled his eyes, brushing it off. “Ignore him, Miss Walker. We have more pressing matters to attend to than your fashion sense.”

“I think red suits you, Miss Walker.” Lafayette said.

“Thank you, Marquis.”

“What happened?” Sam asks frantically.

“We got into a fight with Knightmaremon, we won but Nick got seriously hurt and Lopmon dark evolved.” Rose explains.

“Oh my king,” Riley starts, “do you know the name of the dark evolution?”

“No.” Rose says.

Just as Rose sits down on one of the chairs, a woman walks in, takes a look at Nick and gets furious.

Nikki yells, “If another person I care about gets hurt, I think I’m ending it here and now!”

Sudden Silence, Sudden Heat - Edward Woods/Elizabeth Walker

A/N: It's Spooky Season witches! Here's the first fic for @jmathesonandsiblings awesome spooky season in the barrens event. 'Cryptids' was the prompt.

There’s silence as he walks, his eyes trailing over the woods as he follows the path, faltering at the sight of the blonde woman crouched at the edge of the bog. She’s pale, blonde hair falling loose, sea green-blue eyes misted with such intense misery that he feels his heart tighten with worry. Then he hears it, the woman’s soft sobbing drawing him closer even as he feels the pull to cradle her close, taste her tears that drip down soft cheeks. She stiffens as he moves closer, her eyes flickering with a mixture of fear and panic, his voice dropping even as he moves closer, hands held out. Her hands fist into her simple dress, the pale purple suiting her even as her hands knot tighter into it. “Are you alright… miss?” “Elizabeth… and… no.” “Edward… and… can I… help?” Her eyes burn as they meet his, her breathing sharpening even as she lets him closer, leaning a little into his touch as he smooths tears away, slim fingers tangling around his wrist. “Who hurt you?” “Nobody but…” Her words flow now, his eyes locked on her even as he smooths soft fingers over her cheek, tasting her tears slowly when she looks for him again, then soft lips, swallowing her moan of surprise. “What… are you?” She sounds unsure and he half-sighs. “I thought I must be… human but…” He hesitates then. “Your pain… it called to me…” “Mandragora…” Elizabeth’s voice is soft and, when he stiffens a little, she moves to kiss him again. “Mandragora… a true cryptid… and… if the stories are true… a true mate for bog witches or wood wanderers…” Later, after they walk home, her fingers entangled through his, he finds he kisses her harder, more protectively. They don’t sleep together, not that night, but he knows, deep down, they will, someday.

Inner Demons/Greatest Fear

Elizabeth’s greatest obstacle is definitely her anxiety, and that self doubt that comes with it. Because she had little support from her family after her mother’s death, she has a lot of insecurities about the way she conducts herself— the way she speaks, what she says, and how other people see her. And since she’s used to handling it all herself, it’s hard to accept help from others, even if she desperately wants to learn so she can be independent and confident— at least… a little.

Here is a scene from Chapter 8 of SS&SP where Liz finally lets down some walls:

“I don’t know how to live the way you want me to. The way I need to.”

And it was too late to change.

It had to be-

“It’s alright.” Benjamin said.

“What?”

He stepped forward, throwing himself in front of Hamilton, Tilghman, and the Marquis. “It’s alright, Miss Walker. We- we can work with this. We can figure it out.” He nodded, muttered something to himself, “Yes, we can.”

“Major-”

“We will help you, like we said we would. Don’t you remember?”

“I- I-” she couldn’t even think.

“I have the code book,” Benjamin explained, “I give you the names of the targets, an alias for yourself. Hamilton helps with the finances, the cash. Tilghman is your escort, your guide. And the Marquis can be your-” his words halted, “what’s the word?”

Lafayette leaned forward, “A governess, Tallmadge.”

“Yes.”

She didn’t know where to look, who to speak to, what to say, “But, Major-”

The men were already nodding, already agreeing.

“And, believe or not, Miss Walker,” Hamilton remarked, “you and I have had very similar upbringings. I was the chief clerk for a merchant when I was fourteen. I can help-”

Help.

That was what upset her, set off another bomb-

“Miss Walker, why are you-”

“Because I shouldn’t have had to even ask for your help, gentlemen!” she cried. “I shouldn't even need it! God,” she scoffed, wiped away a tear with the handkerchief, “you don’t need me, gentlemen. You can just send me home. You can go back to your raids. You can find someone else to get you supplies.”

“I’m afraid we will not find anyone else who will say ‘yes,’ Miss Walker.” Benjamin said.

He was looking at her the same way he had in the tavern, when they were alone, and she said yes.

When decided she was going to change her life.

He took two more steps forward, and then he was in front of her.

He was in front of her.

She pulled herself up and stood.

“We will help you, Miss Walker. I will help you.” He stared into her eyes with so much sincerity, shining through the same passion, the same fire as that snowy night.

She still couldn’t believe it, “You shouldn’t have to, Major. You trusted me, and I lied.”

“And I still do. You trusted me enough to admit you needed help, didn’t you? And I will give that help, Miss Walker. I will give you whatever you need. I will keep my promise to you, just as you have with me.”

She sighed. “I do not deserve such patience and kindness from you, Major.”

“No, you’re right.” The fire slowly left, his eyes softened, “You deserve more patience and kindness than the world has ever given you.”

Oh, it was hard.

It was hard to think she did.

“But I shall try to make up for it,” Benjamin said. “I help you, just as you have helped us.” He tilted his head to the side, and smiled, “Alright?”

Elizabeth was going to stay.

Elizabeth was going to change her life.

“Alright.”

Benjamin’s smile grew- just slightly, just enough for her to see it.

“Good. Let’s get to work.”
