A Spooktacular First Halloween 🎃 | dad!willy x reader ✐

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden-orange and violet glow across the neighbourhood as Halloween night officially began. The crisp autumn air carried the earthy scent of fallen leaves, and you couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves. This was Eliot’s first Halloween, and you’d spent the past hour putting together costumes, arranging sweets, and hanging decorations around the house, hoping to make it memorable. Finally, you scooped Eliot into your arms, his tiny jack-o’-lantern costume puffed up around him, and smiled.

“Alright, little pumpkin,” you said warmly, adjusting the small green hat on his head, “are you ready for your first Halloween adventure?”

Eliot, barely a year old, looked up with wide blue eyes that sparkled with curiosity. A giggle escaped him as he reached for the soft, round fabric of his costume. The oversized onesie was perfect, with its cute jack-o’-lantern face on the front and his little hat bouncing slightly as he moved. And as you finished adjusting his outfit, William entered the room with a grin, dressed as a scarecrow. He wore a plaid shirt with frayed edges, a floppy hat, and patches sewn onto his jeans. Straw poked out from under his shirt cuffs, giving him a charming, rustic look. You couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of him.

You knew William wasn’t always a fan of dressing up, but he’d made an exception this year. After all, it was Eliot’s first Halloween, and you’d convinced him to join in by going as a “dead farmer’s girl” to match his costume. He looked every bit the part, and you could see he was having fun with it, too.

“There’s my little pumpkin,” William cooed, reaching over to tickle Eliot’s chin, making him squeal with laughter. “Ready for harvesting?”

“Who knew my boyfriend could look this adorable in straw and patches?” you teased, straightening his shirt. “You’re really pulling that off.”

“Just trying to keep up with our little pumpkin here,” he replied, chuckling as he held Eliot’s tiny hand. Eliot clutched his father’s finger, his blue eyes wide with wonder as he took in the costumes around him. “Besides, they don’t call me ‘Styles’ for nothing - I can pull anything off, baby.”

“Oh, I’m sure you can.”

You laughed, feeling that warm mix of love and joy for this wonderful, slightly ridiculous man who was now both your partner and the father of your child.

Then gathering up Eliot’s tiny candy bucket, you made your way to the car, where William had packed a few extra treats for the evening ahead. You settled Eliot into his car seat, and soon, you were off to a friend’s house—a teammate’s wife who always hosted the Halloween gatherings.

As you arrived, the glow of carved pumpkins, cobweb-covered bushes, and a life-sized skeleton greeted you at the entrance. Inside, the house was buzzing with laughter, excited chatter, and the squeals of costumed children running about, clutching their sweets. Aryne Tavares welcomed you in with a warm smile, guiding you to where the other families had gathered in the spacious living room.

Parents and kids alike were dressed up in every imaginable costume, from fairies and superheroes to tiny vampires. Each child eagerly showed off their outfit, and Eliot’s pumpkin onesie was met with delighted laughter and adoring comments. He took it all in with big eyes, captivated by the bright costumes and cheerful faces around him. For a moment, he simply stared, his mouth open in awe, before giving an excited babble.

Once everyone was assembled, Aryne clapped her hands, corralling the lively bunch of parents and kids. “Alright, trick-or-treaters!” she announced. “We’re heading down the main street, then looping back. For the littler ones, we’ll take turns carrying them if they get tired.”

“Sounds perfect,” you said with a smile, glancing down at Eliot, who was babbling away, completely clueless but clearly delighted by all the fuss.

The group made their way down the street together, and you held Eliot close, his tiny bucket clutched in one hand. He gazed at the houses around him, each one decked out in spooky decorations, flickering jack-o’-lanterns, and even a few dancing skeletons.

At the first house, the older children bounded up the porch, shouting “trick or treat!” Eliot looked on in amazement, his eyes widening as a friendly neighbour cooed over him, dropping a handful of candy into his bucket.

“Oh, look at this little pumpkin!” she said, reaching down to ruffle Eliot’s hat. His face lit up with delight, his tiny hand reaching for the candy wrappers as he babbled with excitement.

House after house, Eliot’s amazement only grew. He was entranced by the glowing lanterns, fluttering fake bats, and the cheerful shouts of his friends. Sometimes he pointed, sometimes he babbled, and every so often, he reached out to clutch your finger, completely absorbed in the magic of Halloween.

You and William took turns carrying him, his tiny feet kicking with excitement each time a new, decorated porch came into view. Then after a while, William suggested a short break. “Let’s give our pumpkin a little rest,” he said, nodding toward a nearby bench.

You sat down, settling Eliot on your lap and offering him a small foil-wrapped chocolate from his bucket. He held it carefully, examining the shiny wrapper as though it was the most fascinating thing in the world. William chuckled, unwrapping it for him and handing him a small piece. Eliot took a tentative nibble, his face lighting up with surprise and joy as the taste of chocolate registered.

“First Halloween, first taste of chocolate,” William said softly, leaning back to take in the sight of his son enjoying this simple treat.

Eventually, the group returned to the Tavares house, and the kids gathered in the living room, tipping out their overflowing candy buckets onto the carpet. Eliot crawled over to join them, his little fingers exploring the colourful pile in front of him, completely mesmerised.

William caught your gaze, a tender smile on his face. He leaned in close, his arm wrapping around your shoulders. “So, what do you say—maybe next year we’ll have two little pumpkins to dress up?”

You knew William had been ready for a bigger family ever since Eliot came along. The way he lit up when he held Eliot, his unwavering patience, and the joy he got from every tiny milestone Eliot reached—there was no question. But you also knew that his career still took up so much of his time and energy, so you’d quietly agreed with yourself to hold off just a little longer. Besides, you often had to remind him that he wasn’t the one who’d have to carry the baby and go through the whirlwind of pregnancy and childbirth.

So, with a playful nudge, you gave him an exasperated look and smirked. “Let’s just focus on handling this one, alright, tiger?”

He laughed, pressing a gentle kiss to your temple. “Fair enough. But I can’t wait.”

As Eliot’s giggles filled the room and the laughter of friends surrounded you, a warmth settled deep in your chest. Watching William with Eliot and sharing this moment with friends, you knew this Halloween—this first, special Halloween—would forever hold a treasured place in your heart.

Celebration: 88,978 Words in One Day!

Just yesterday, a few other LU writers and I, Hot Cheeto Hatred, hosted our first ever monthly (hopefully) Write-a-thon! This event ran on June 4 from 12 am EST to 12 am EST, with one goal in mind---write as many productive words within that day as humanly possible. Words included in the final marathon count ranged from storyboarding, fic writing, editing, answering comments, journalling and homework---basically, any words that furthered yourself, the writing community at large, or your stories. We utilized either the Discord Sprint bot or self-reporting to collect the numbers at the end. Everyone involved gave it their all, with most of them being present for most if not all of the run time as they were able, and I'm so proud of their dedication towards their craft. Anyways, here's the final breakdown of the numbers below, as well as the awards and titles earned by each participant, as decided by the discord server (and myself at random).

Now onto the awards:

I am pleased to report that @not-freyja (Freyja above) won the "Writer of All Time" Award, pulling ahead with 20,565 of our total words. What an accomplishment! Freyja participated from dawn to well, dawn, and they absolutely deserve all praise and awe.

I'm giving myself, @hotcheetohatred (Cheeto), the award "Writer of Some Time," as I fell behind our lovely Freyja by a mere few hundred words fifteen minutes before the clock struck midnight. Next time, Freyja, next time...

The "Actually A Writer" award goes to @marcusdoodlesalot (Marcus), who, despite the name, DOES actually write, not just draw! Who would have thought. Not Freyja, that's for sure.

The "Early Bird" award goes to @lerikwrites (Lerik), who solely sprinted in the wee hours of the morning (my time, at least). Terrible. Good job.

"Star Commentor" goes to @elle-rosewater (Eliot), because I stole most of her words for the count from my own comment section in the BDOR Prologues. We love you, Eliot :3 Can't wait to see you next month.

"Cheerleader" goes to @la-sera, who gave us much encouragement throughout the day. I stole your 19 words from you saying you were excited to read Estelian's work. Hope that's okay, because I really wanted to include you---you provided a lot, even if you didn't write with us this time <3.

@whumpitywhumpitywhumpity (Dowsemaxxer) earns "Spirit-ed Storyboarder" for all of his lovely, informative talk on Spirit and just what makes him so great as a rather underappreciated LU boy.

Two awards next! "Chief Editor" and "Most Student" both go to @unexpectedstormy (Stormy) for faer work on getting. stuff. done. Fae did a steady amount of work, so proud.

"Editor (of Word Count) in Chief" goes to @tashacee (Tash), who, at reporting time, was scrounging up 100 and 200 word bits like spare change while I desperately tried to do math. I love you, never change.

The title of "Specter" goes to @somer-writes (Somer), who logged in very few sprints, but participated with the rest of us and pulled up at the end with a whole 7.5K words and a bunch of fics to post at the end, with a lot of it being Ghost AU! He's amazing.

The award "Better Late than Never" goes to our resident artist and recently turned fic-writer @estelian-01 (Este), who joined only in the last half of the marathon but managed to pull a whole 4K! Pictures might be worth a thousand words, but Este wrote a couple more anyway.

@across-violet-skies (Riv) gets the title "Mover and Shaker (of Blorbos)" for managing to participate and get quite the hefty wordcount only a DAY after moving. They're a trooper, that's for sure.

@anime-obsessed (Vio/Nene) earns the award "Most Old School" for writing with pen and paper for most of the day. Please go rest your wrist after all of that.

The award "Head in the Clouds" goes to my bestie and beloved beta reader @needfantasticstories (Skip), who spent the day listening to music and writing Skyloft drabbles. I am nervous/excited to see if those drabbles turned out fluffy as a Loftwing, or perhaps into something more angsty.

@noorahqar (Qar), my lovely fragile Victorian wife, earns the title "Chatty." You know why. But you were there nearly all of the run time, and so engaging and encouraging throughout---a blessing to us all. And even then, you managed to pull so many words. I'm impressed.

And finally, @rosehipandroots / @rosetintedtears (Rose) receives the titles "ndskanefnre" (self chosen) and "Birthday Santa." The first was borne of panic of being asked to choose a title---the second of her relentless effort to get her birthday fics done. Great job.

Hello! First I want to say I hooe you are having a wonderful day so far!

Second, I am not sure you are aware but in seasons 1 and 2 Violet was mistakenly called the Dowager Viscountess Bridgerton. Violet wouldn't be called that until Anthony married which he did. I think the writers assumed she was called that because her husband died but before the season 2 finale there was no other Viscountess Bridgerton so Violet would keep that title until her eldest son married.

And she would still be addressed as Lady Bridgerton regardless because it wasn't common for people to add 'dowager' in conversation.

Also, Colin and Penelope's son (let's call him Eliot) will have the last name Bridgerton but would be addressed as Lord Featherington because that would be his title and his wife would be Lady Featherington. Eliot would not be Lord Bridgerton because his inheritance was from his mother's side and not his father's.

Description of magic: Elizabeth’s Magic allows her to spawn and manipulate plasma and use it to create objects. Her magic is extremely powerful, but comes with a price. The user is not completely immune to the temperature of plasma and often will get burned by their magic if they use it too frequently. Due to this, Elizabeth also partakes in potion making in order to be useful without harming her body too much. 

BackStory: Elizabeth grew up in a wealthy household with her mother and father deep in the woods away from civilization. When Elizabeth was five, her father left and her mother was stuck trying to provide for the family. When Elizabeth was eight, a dark guild invaded their home, stole all their riches, and killed Elizabeth’s mother right before her eyes. Terrified, Elizabeth ran into the woods where she met a passing hiker named Eliot. Eliot took pity on the poor girl and took her in. He brought her to his guild where he taught her his magic, and taught her all about the world. Elizabeth lived in Eliot’s guild until she was ten, when she found the dark truth about the ones who were taking care of her. She wandered into a room that the guild master forbade her from going into, and found a room full of Riches. Her riches. This is when Elizabeth realized that this is the very guild that killed her mother. Panicking, Elizabeth ran, trying to find her way out of the guild. When Eliot found her and revealed he never wanted to join the guild in the first place but was forced to since his father was the guild master. He didn’t agree with anything the guild did. He led her out of the guild and gave her a map of fiore. She asked him to come with her, but he refused, saying that they'll find her easier if he went with her. They hugged and said their goodbyes. Elizabeth found her way to a nearby village, she was starving. So, she took an apple from a stand, completely forgetting that she didn’t bring money. The man that ran the stand chased her down before she ran into three children, one around her age. They saw the apple in her hand and said that she needs to be more stealthy when stealing. They introduced themselves as Aki, Mizumi, and Cyril, took her under their wing and taught her how to be a thief. The four of them dubbed themselves team kitsune, they were known as the Robin Hood’s of the village, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. However, Elizabeth has a set goal in mind. She wants to steal enough riches to pay up for what her mother lost. It’s been like this for nine years before Fairy Tail came. Four Fairy Tail members all had to take down team Kitsune as a job. One of them was Natsu Dragneel. He took on Elizabeth, not knowing she’s about as powerful as he is. They fought on and off again for what seemed like days before Natsu saw Elizabeth feeding poor orphans in the streets. Natsu was stunned before realizing she wasn’t such a bad guy. He confronted Elizabeth, and after a lot of convincing, she revealed her past to him. Natsu did the same, revealing his past to her. The two developed a bond and Natsu managed to convince her and the rest of team Kitsune to join Fairy Tail. Ever since then, Elizabeth has been going on adventures with Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Erza and the rest of Fairy Tail.
