The Fairfield County courthouse may look like any other courthouse in any city nationwide, but those in SC will be familiar with it’s famous architecht, Robert Mills.  In 1865 the courthouse was ransacked by Union troops but the sheriff at the time, Elijia Ollever, was able to smuggle out jail records in the skirts and petticoats of the women and girls of the town, preserving the history of the judicial system of the county.
