I was thinkin about how mad I was about Cullen suddenly reappearing as a higher-ranking templar in one of the most magically volatile cities on the planet at the time despite the fact that he'd literally just -- like within the last 3 fucking months, I'd say, going by a generous interpretation of game timelines -- had a PTSD-inducing (harrowing, one might say!-- sorry.) experience at his former Circle... and then I realised that that also happens in Anansi's story. EXCEPT! this goes BADLY! the way it SHOULD go when you do something like this! Anders blows up the Chantry and Cullen blows up the Circle

Another day for @juneofdoom, and a changed as it's a short break from TVDs and hurting Elijah Mikaelson.

The new dragon age hype had brought me back so here's a little of my multi warden/Hawke/inquisitor fic.

Dragon age origins.

Introducing

Solona Amell, the youngest of a marcher noble family, too pretty for her own good and too angry and smart for anyone else’s. The spirit healer that hid her abilities out of spite.

Alim Surana, the alienage elf, conceived in the tower and left in the care of his grandmother before he ended up in the same tower. The moral compass of the three from the outside but really the one with the least morals. The natural Blood mage.

And of course our beloved suffering Jowan.

Anti circle, anti Templar, anti Irving.

Warnings for sexual assault, kidnapping, abuse, murder and description of disembowelment.

They had a system in the tower, between the three of them, a code of sorts.

“Are you alright?” The pair of the ask Solona expecting the worst after they had overheard some of the Templars speaking of bedding the tall apprentice.

“I'm Alright.” Solona grins with to many teeth

She had been warned, she knew it was coming.

It would be alright, eventually.

She would use it, she had heard Gregor complain about his Templars going for younger apprentices, she at least looked older than her thirteen.

“Are you alright?” Solona asks when he manages to escape one of the new Templars, because of a distraction caused by Jowan.

I'm alright.” Alim says fingers touching the bleeding cuts on his still pointed ears.

It would be alright, eventually.

They'll heal, he could ignore them.

“Are you alright?” Alim asks when Jowan returns from a punishment he took for Alim. They knew the new Templar in charge of punishments this month was harsher on Elves.

I'm alright.” Jowan smiles at him, rolling his shoulders.

It would be alright, eventually.

Lashes string and scar but they’re temporary.

“Are you alright?” They asked each other at the same time, pile of dented and broken armour at the bottom of the stairs.

They would have ignored him if he hadn't preferred the younger girls, taken dragged Jowan from bed one night for the same reason.

If he wasn't the last seen with six year old Kenith before he was found dead in his bed the next morning.

If he hadn't started to target Alim the same way.

“Alright.” They reply, laughing slightly.

Solona takes the blame using her race, gender, nobility, her place as one of Irving's star pupils and closeness to Gregor, to lessen the punishment, the joys of leverage.

Jowan's sixteen, Solona and Alim are fourteen and they just killed a man, it was alright, they made it so.

“Are you alright?” Jowan asks when he notices Alim is quiet on their return from the private lessons with Irving.

“I'm fine.” he tells Jowan, sharper than he planned.

 Solona always had a darker view of the tower. Why wouldn't she be unsurprised by this.

Jowan throws an arm over his shoulder and Sol leans against the other side.

It was always clear that Irving was training them to be his replacement, but he had thought that meant the other would stay to assist.

No Irving couldn't allow split loyalty, whoever won and was picked the other would be sent to another circle.

This wasn't something he could use, this was knowing even playing the rules he was going to lose them eventually.

“Are you alright?” Alim asks the first time the Rite of Tranquility is fully explained to them.

“Alright.” Solona says and Alim tries to ignore the almost want in her eyes.

“F-fine.” Jowan stutters, without thinking they shift to press him between them.

It was clear who the talk was aimed at, not Irving’s star pupils but the unfortunate third of the group, who next to Solona's unnaturally large mana reserve and Alim's unnatural gift at near perfecting everything they're taught within weeks, fell behind.

This wasn't something he could ignore.

“Sol?’ Jowan’s voice wakes Alim.

“Are you alright?” 

Solona is silent for a moment, as they stare at her, it's been months since the Templars had taken her to the higher levels, the only reason they knew she was still alive was news from Wynne Jowan had managed to get.

The last of Alim's respect for Irving had died when he asked and got told not to concern himself and to use the time to his advantage to over take her in their studies.

“I'm fine.” she tells them softly, before climbing into the bed.

It's difficult to fit them all in one apprentice bed now, Alim’s average for an elf his age but neither Jowan and Solona, both tall humans but they make it work.

Solona’s in the centre and neither of them say a thing when she curls around her stomach.

It wasn't hard to work out what happened, just before Anders last escape, nine months ago, they had been using each other, Anders for a distraction from Karl was transferred and Solona for her first choice.

She was a child when they stole her, she was barely more than a child when they stole hers.

It wasn't something she could move one from, it was permanent.

“Are you alright?” Jowan asks when Alim wakes up from his harrowing.

“I'm” Alim paused for a moment the words of the strange man in the fade echoing around his head giving him a headache. “ Alright.” He finishes with a smile.

He would be as long as he had the pair of them.

“Are you alright?” One of the wardens ask the pair of them on the way to Highever, for Duncan to pick up another recruit.

“Fine.” They reply in sync, they were missing a part of themselves, Jowan had betrayed, lied, left them behind and he was out there alone.

What was alright about that?

Because things could become alright but they were never fine in the tower.

Jowan blinks at the person in front of his cell door.

And laughs.

“You’ ‘right?” The drunken dwarf, Oghren asks.

Solona’s hand is pressed flat on her stomach to stop her insides from slipping out from the tear the Darkspawn’s horn had opened, she raises an eyebrow at him and laughs.

“Are you alright?” someone in camp asks Alim, their face blurry from his exhaustion.

He looks at Jowan passed out of the floor, Solona being led away by her lovers; the bastard prince and Lady Cosland the younger.

He looks at the dalish hunter turned Warden placing desperate kisses on the recent darkspawn returned to elf through sheer will, blood magic and spirit healing.

Three illegal barely more than teenage mages just did what the chantry claimed was impossible.

He laughs.

First names didn’t travel with legends. Most people knew Elijah simply as “The Inquisitor”, less knew him as “Inquisitor Trevelyan”, and even less knew him as Elijah. He himself was guilty of overlooking given names and remembering only surnames, particularly when it came to history and his family’s many, many friends.

So it would only make sense that Neria didn’t ring a bell…but Surana did.

And Elijah’s mind did a complete 180.

His eyes widened, his jaw dropped, and he even blinked like a child taken aback by the sight of a living dragon.

“Oh— Oh, you’re—!” The Hero of Ferelden. That was The Hero of Ferelden! “Sorry— I’m so sorry. I know you just said you’re tired of being the centre of attention, but— ma’am, you ended a Blight! I think it’s fair to say I’m a huge fan, and— would it be weird if I— no, one second, sorry, one second—” Yes, he needed a second to remember how to move his body, and then he offered the lowest curtsy he could possibly manage without falling over.

Neria had to repress the sigh of relief that she almost let out. Whenever she was meeting anyone new she was generally wary as they often ended up fawning over her and acting completely ridiculous. This was why she struggled to get close to anyone. Of course it made sense though that Eli would act normally around her, he must face the same sort of attention from people wanting to get close to him.

She visibly relaxed, giving Leliana’s arm an approving squeeze before inclining her head to the other “Neria Surana, nice to meet you Eli” she smiled brightly

“I have to say, I’m glad you’re here, usually I would be the centre of attention in situations like this but now you’re the shiny new toy so I can finally stay out of the chaos” she laughed “though that does leave more time for Leliana to try to pester me into joining your organisation”

Probably the OC I know least well, been years since I played her but I remember loving her so any prompts sent her way will help me relearn her.

I'm just going to be honest with you, he is a terrible person. If there is an unnecessary, horrible choice to make but it makes his life even slightly easier, gives him more power, or lets him fuck with someone he hates, he's made it.

Cares about exactly two people who are not him, and they are Morrigan and Kieran.

There are some ways a Morrigan romance could bring out the best in her, and he Did Not Do That. Heard her talk and thought "this is the woman of my dreams." If anything, she brings out whatever is good in him.

(Seriously, he's a bad man. You ever seen a mage annul the Circle? Elijah hated Irving just that much. I still like him anyway, don't hesitate to send prompts, just know what you're getting into.)

Her parents: A Problematic Ship. Her mother was a Saarebas and her father was her Arvaarad, they fled the Qun together. (Slightly less horrific than it sounds, they were childhood friends before her magic manifested, feel free to send prompts about them as well because I have a lot of feelings about them)

Hates and fears the Qun because of what they did to her mother, only recruits Bull because Cassandra said it's probably best if Leliana can spy on him back. Terrified of Bull until he goes Tal Vashoth. She helps him through it after.

Small, even for an elf, and humans think they are pretty. They are aware of this and play into it. Makes the shems underestimate them.

Dirthamen vallaslin, taken in acknowledgment that it is a Keeper's task to keep the history they know alive.

Well, probably their Keeper would be better equipped to save the world, but they're the First. Slightly above their pay grade but they'll make it work.

it occurs to me that I never hear about anyone trying to separate Justice and Anders

I imagine it probably has something to do with that nebulous half-baked idea of Justice becoming a demon because he joined up with Anders, which is possession, which is demon territory... ??? the more I try to make this post the more I realise that I really just hate everything that Dragon Age does with spirits and shared consciousness but hold on I was trying to make a point

considering that whatever vague canonical thing is going on with Anders and Justice doesn't make any sense to me, and considering that I still regard Anders and Justice as two separate entities who have consented to living together in the same body (much like my Elijah and his berserkr), it would stand to reason that if someone -- like, say, my Anansi -- sat them down and said, "this union of yours is actually becoming unsustainable largely because Anders is a bit, no shade, unstable," then perhaps they could be convinced to part ways (not permanently, it's not a bad thing, Anders still has access to the Fade and he and Justice will still have a soul-bond, they'll always be able to meet each other in the Fade)

likewise, when Elijah becomes Lord Protector of Kirkwall, his spirit finds itself kind of... out of a job, so to speak, and wishes to be released from their bond. it is done. so it goes.

(Anansi Surana and Clarity never separate; they work so well together, and Clarity's razor insight is behind a lot of Anansi's successes. also, I should talk about Qunari spirits sometime because that's how you get entities like Talan, a shard of whom travels with a mage in another world entirely, a world called Hydaelyn.)

Elijah Hawk-child (Dragon Age 2) is a snuggly bear of a man who would have snapped Cullen Rutherford in half had I actually consented to having him present in my canon. he solves the crises in Kirkwall by the power of friendship, anime, and no small amount of boning.

Noah Kingfisher (Fallout 4) is a literal Child of Atom who truly doesn’t want to set the world on fire. he loves Preston Garvey more than kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch and the feeling is mutual.

oh, hi! haven't met you yet. I think it's cool you have Varlineau family members as OCs

I've never really delved into Y'shtola's relationship with Dayir and Ishan but I think their bond is surprisingly strong. Shtola is really adept at seeing the complexities of people, the stuff they hide behind and what exactly it is that they're hiding, the core values that people operate from. Dayir was tricky for her at first because she was suspicious of eir open promiscuity and seeming lack of scruples, but there was enough going on with em that she was curious enough to dig deeper. with Ishan, her interest was purely academic for a long time (he's an aetherologist's dream), but as his trigger-happy grouch persona started to crack, she found his unexpectedly deep emotional reserves and his philosophical leanings to be compelling indeed.

she's been playing a wicked game with Dayir since her return from the Lifestream (the first time), teasing both of them with the idea of them being together. that "don't make me take you over my knee" joke from ShB? yeah, that's a perfect example 😏 in familiar company one finds that Y'shtola can be pretty off-colour, she's just got a particular cunning way about doing it that leaves plenty of room for plausible deniability lmao (and Dayir loves this, which is why the game is so fun for both of them)

anyway! Flemeth! love her. but Anansi Surana is quite close with Morrigan and therefore has a specific opinion of Flemeth that isn't very friendly, lol. Elijah Hawk-child knew Morrigan when they were both children, but never met Flemeth at that time; his first time meeting her was when she flew him and his family to Gwaren. and uhhh... well I guess you could say that seeing a hot older woman turn into a dragon awakened something in Elijah (he's just like us fr)

I could say that nothing happened on Sundermount later but that would proooobably be a lie :x

I finished playing "Hogwarts: Legacy" yesterday, and HOLY CRAP!!!! The long wait was MORE than worth it!!!

What the creators of this game have done is nothing less than magical. The funny thing is, I spent very little time at Hogwarts. I was mostly running around in the open world. It didn't even take long before I actually FORGOT that it took place in the HP universe, it just became an open-world fantasy RPG.

Not to mention that the theme of it all (SPOILERS!!!!) is about how light can't exist without darkness, and how taking away pain isn't the answer. That we need balance. As someone with bipolar disorder, this topic is very close and important to me, and funny enough: this is the exact theme I have in my own fantasy books haha!

As fantastic as everything was, I spent many of my nearly 80 hours running around in nature and caring for my beasts. It was a bit of therapy to brush, feed and just be around all those wonderful animals. The one looking like a cat in particular. I'm still struggling with the loss of my prince, but I'm slowly getting back on my feet.

Aaaaand of course, I have like so many others, started with mods. Installed them before I even ended up at Hogwarts haha! But not to this extent (though that PT must be hilarious)

Anyway, I was thinking about my character and compared her to the rest of them.

My Shepards: Black hair and green eyes

My Ryder: White hair and green eyes

My Wardens: Black hair and blue eyes (except for my dwarf, she has brown hair and eyes)

My Champion: Black hair and blue eyes

My Inquisitor: Dark, red hair and blue eyes

But one thing that all of them have in common, is that none of them have paler skin. So, I was thinking: Mass Effect and Dragon Age are both Bioware, but Hogwarts: Legacy is not. So, how about the non-Bioware character is different than what I usually make?

Therefore, with awesome mods coming out, I'm re-designing my character for the upcoming playthroughs. And yes, I already have not one, but TWO, tributes in mind for this game haha!!

I'll upload my new character, and link the mods, once I'm happy with her ^_^

But first of all-- I don’t like to discredit the people who do like my posts, who do send me asks about characters, who’ve told me they’re in love with Elijah Hawk-child or who greatly support Anansi Surana’s extra-ass fashion sense. I don’t like to discredit the people who continuously leave kudos on my fics (I get an email from AO3 daily about new kudos, and that’s really actually amazing?). Even one person reading my stuff, caring about my characters, laughing at a post I make is worth appreciation. When it becomes a numbers game, then I’ve lost the plot.

Second of all-- what is the alternative? Even if no one is paying attention, I can’t stop storytelling. I can’t be other than what I am -- I have been, am, will be so many things. I am the soul of constant change and ego manipulation (triple Gemini, whaddup). I’m not even the same person that started typing this post ten minutes ago. But one thing I am always is a storyteller. Even this post is a story, yes? So if I’m hanging my entire existence on how well my story is received, then am I truly understanding my nature? It’s not about the results. It’s never about the results. It’s about the Work. It’s always about the Work.

So, yeah. Sometimes I fall into malaise, and I stop writing, because I think I have nothing to say. But every single time, that doesn’t matter. Because every single time, it is either Write, or Die. And I don’t die.
