Joked that my D&D characters were related and four months later I get hit by the realisation of what that could mean-

Some more D&D sketches! :>
The first one being basically a recap of what we ended up calling "Boys' Night" (since it was a fun little moment between the three guys in the party), and the second one is an additional sketch to help me visualize Sköll's small frame (5'4'') compared to all the tall people around him.

For years I’ve had a hate-hate relationship with D&D because I tried to join some friends’ campaigns after being told “You can be anything!!” and I was like Oh sick, I’ll be a dragon then! No. Can’t do that. Oh ok, well can I be like, a kobold? Nope. You can only choose from like 6 different species, the rest aren’t playable. I said Well fuck that then, and gave up.
Now years later, after playing BG3 I’m like “You know what? I’m ready to give this another try - and this time I actually have knowledge of the universe. I’m gonna make a character based on Frey Forspoken, and she’s gonna be a half-elf (Cinta as an ancient Feywild high elf, Al as a human adventurer she fell in love with). It’s PERFECT!” Then I go and Legally Purchase a digital copy of the newest Player Handbook and discover that half-races have been eliminated. You can’t play as them anymore.
So once again I’ve reached the conclusion of “Forget it then, fuck this game, clearly I wasn’t meant to play it” 🤦

Feirthon'gane, my Eladrin Monk, and all her seasons ♥
Feirthon'gane is a wandering (far traveller) Eladrin from the Fey Wild. She doesn't have a destination in mind, just looks for whatever excitement she can dip her toes in until she gets bored. Chaotic good.
Her emotions are intense and go both ways. She can either adore or detest people based off the most insignificant interaction.

Okay, like, I'm listening to lotr on audiobook while working & I just have to ask, wtf is up with the elves? Why are they like *gestures vaugely* that? I understand the text of why they're both the pinnacle of grace and grief, but what's the narrative point? Even when no elf is situationally present in the story, they're constantly referenced far more than dwarves or men, and I think equally as often as hobbits.
I remember talking to my mom when I first read the books & she related them to the archetypal Noble Savage in terms of being wise, at one with nature, inscrutable, and most importantly fading away & leaving the land for others to inhabit. I think the type fits, they're nature's perfect human so to speak while also fading in strength as opposed to growing like the tall men. I understand that and get that but are they taking the place of metatextual Celts in Tolkien's retelling of Britain or does the archetype reach beyond colonialism? Because that's not the only facet of their presence in the tale.
To me they reflect the whole trope (I dunno if it was a trope at the time) of the golden age being long ago while the present is regarded as mean and bending towards cruelty, a favorite of fascists. The idea of pure goodness having been present, but such solid distinctions have broken down as time passed until even our hero's people are susceptible to corruption. But that's not just the elves, the dúnedain also portray this trope as numenor has fallen and their blood has thinned.
Why do they have to be grieving? Why are they so determined to leave? What does it meeeeean!!!!!
Like, please, I want to hear y'alls interpretation.

dyke draws shirtless men (and more unbelievable stories) on page 4. felt like diving back into anatomy practice-ish with some dudes: crownelius (affectionate) minus tattoos and val (derogatory).
