I'm like a week new to Tumblr- I can't figure out how to sort through content well, so you've probably posted about this before

What do you know about sea slugs?? Like particularly interesting ones! I love them and wanna hear your description!!

One of my favorite nudibranchs is the Sap-sucking sea slug (Cyerce elegans)!

The large leaf-looking parts are known as cerata and help the nudibranch "breathe". They can also be released to use as a distraction if the animal feels threatened!

The species has many color variations, from nearly transparent to red or brown! The color is dependent on the environment in which the species is found; these nudibranchs have coloration that matches the local algae that they eat. This helps them stay camouflaged while they're eating!

So... I made another one

Somewhere deep within east sea trenches, resides a peppy, undersea Sorcerer with a deep love for the ocean and all her creatures that's only matched by their hatred for the land and all it's inhabitants.

He spends his time honing his craft and mixing a way to expand the sea's reach and cover all of Earthbread in her glory. Claiming it as the only way to "take back" what was stolen from her and her people. He's basically Fujimoto from Ponyo, but much more silly and optimistic.

Like humans smelling 'off' food from the fridge, the olfactory neurons of the nematode, Caenorhabditis elegans, may serve as an early warning sign for bad food.

I got this parlor palm a few years ago. I put it out on the porch all summer well under the porch roof where it gets light but no direct sun. It makes new leaves all summer but only blooms indoors over the winter.
