Shitting Glitter presents: "Damn Skippy Baby"

September 2023 - Shitting Glitter has recently released a new studio work named "Damn Skippy Baby." The full-length album features ten songs, each highlighting the band's diverse sound. The music is a powerful blend of electronic music and rock, channeling the immediacy of the former and the relatable melodies of the latter. The opening song, "Microscope," is a fitting introduction to the mood people can expect from the album. The band combines synthesizer landscapes with heavier and darker rock aesthetics, creating a truly intriguing blend. While watching the The Bling Ring, there was a scene where I heard a drilling guitar riff and thought "oh, a punk song, cool". But then the distorted kick-clap pattern piqued my interest, not only with how it fit into the film but as a song in itself. And the moment the song made its presence known with blaring aplomb, I immediately looked for the song's name and the people responsible for it. This album is wild, hectic yet self-assured. Alexis Krauss's cheerleader-esque vocal sits firm amidst hyper-compressed drums and noisy guitars, the compositions pushed to their limits. It's an exhilarating experience, unrelentingly bold from start to finish.
