Shitting Glitter presents: "Damn Skippy Baby"
September 2023 - Shitting Glitter has recently released a new studio work named "Damn Skippy Baby." The full-length album features ten songs, each highlighting the band's diverse sound. The music is a powerful blend of electronic music and rock, channeling the immediacy of the former and the relatable melodies of the latter. The opening song, "Microscope," is a fitting introduction to the mood people can expect from the album. The band combines synthesizer landscapes with heavier and darker rock aesthetics, creating a truly intriguing blend. The second track, "February 29," brings in a more melodic and organic atmosphere, combining acoustic guitars, synth ambiance, and electric guitar riffs over an edgy beat. "The First One" offers a more ethereal and introspective sound, with a beat that tips the hat off to 90s trip-hop while retaining a contemporary alternative twist. "Ex-Communicate" leans more heavily towards the band's electronic component. This song is particularly insightful because it highlights Shitting Glitter's ability to stay catchy while experimenting with sound design and drum machine beats. The following tune, "Black Magic Marker," is a nearly psychedelic number with a darker twist and some haunting tones. The clean guitar melodies are almost surfy, giving the track a bit of a 60s twist that juxtaposes the synthesizers in the background.
"Spirit Butter" is perhaps the record's most diverse and experimental number. This track has an otherworldly aura to it, highlighting a modern new-age twist. The song "Stacked" is even more unexpected, with vocals diving into the spoken word and rap territory over a trippy instrumental. "This Song Is Free" returns to the band's catchy vibe, combining relatable lyrics with an industrial rock vibe. "Sistere" is perhaps one of this release's brightest, most melodic songs. The tune feels like a truly emotional ballad, with a bittersweet sound and lyrics that are very powerful and insightful.
Last but not least, "There Is No End" is (ironically) a great conclusion to the album, offering a final goodbye that showcases the band's versatile formula one last time before closing the curtains.
This track is highly recommended to fans of artists such as Chvrches, Dead Rituals, Minus The Bear, Tegan & Sara, or Beth Ditto, only to mention a few. Learn more about Shitting Glitter, and do not miss out on "Damn Skippy Baby," now available on Spotify and other streaming services.

Sleigh Bells - Treats
While watching the The Bling Ring, there was a scene where I heard a drilling guitar riff and thought "oh, a punk song, cool". But then the distorted kick-clap pattern piqued my interest, not only with how it fit into the film but as a song in itself. And the moment the song made its presence known with blaring aplomb, I immediately looked for the song's name and the people responsible for it. This album is wild, hectic yet self-assured. Alexis Krauss's cheerleader-esque vocal sits firm amidst hyper-compressed drums and noisy guitars, the compositions pushed to their limits. It's an exhilarating experience, unrelentingly bold from start to finish.

Yves Tumor - Praise A Lord Who Chews But Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds)

Artwork for The Human League 's first 7" Being Boiled/The Circus of Death, released in 1978
After reblogging ''Being Boiled' by The Human League I found the sleeve on Discogs and really like it.
A striking design for this synth classic.
