"Whatever you say..” The echidna doesn’t know anything. He’s only ever been interested in this floating rock of his. As Shadow takes another step towards the altar, he adjusted the communicator in his left ear.. Yes, that’s where he gets his orders. A static voice constantly telling him what to do. It.. seemed to bother the hedgehog just a little. Like he wanted to turn it off but needed someone’s permission to do it. 

          Then there’s a huff, growing visibly irritated because Knuckles didn’t move and instead continued to stand in his way. “Anyway.. GUN needs the Master Emerald. And I didn’t come here to discuss it with you. So just..” His voice trailed off. “... Give it to me. Now.”

Oh? Well that’s certainly a change of tune from the usual. He could safely consider Knuckles as a friend by this point, Sonic knows that much. They still may butt heads every now and then, but when it came down to it, the times where they clashed more often than not were pretty much over by now. 

To an extent, Shadow had more or less settled comfortably into that seat that Knuckles once held, and Knuckles became just about as closely knit to him as even Tails had. But obviously, given their previous history, it has a bit more of a matured edge to it, like they’d really been through some hell together and came to a mutual understanding about it, and about each other. So to hear this (rather vulnerable, actually) sentiment coming from the Echidna, as contrasted to his usual shtick of halfheartedly pretending Sonic was a nuisance, it’s...? Nice. Makes him smile almost effortlessly, although it is Sonic, so he’s already somewhat predisposed.

“Awh, you’ve sure gotten a lot more comfortable, huh Knux? Fraternizing ‘n all that?” He teases lightly, but there’s no genuine bite to his tone. His words are less focused on genuinely cutting into the other, and more a simple, playful acknowledgement of the ups and downs that have brought them to this point. There’s perhaps even a hint of that same sheepishness he’s citing on his own features, actually.

“...Well, I’d sure hope so by now, anyway~ Wouldn’t be the same without y’ here...” Among friends? In his arms? Who knows, not Sonic. But he supposes whether it comes down to either, he doesn’t really mind finding out along the way.

thank you, internal monologue that sounds strangely like dan green who i think is your knuckles’ voice claim but i messed up toby’s voice claim for their sonic so i’m making a wild guess and feel free to hit me over the head if i’m wrong!

he stops suddenly. turns. looks at whirl. “be very quiet.” ominous. but it sounds like he did have a goal in mind and that they’re getting closer. shadow’s expression is very serious.

        BLUE HEDGEHOG IS SUDDENLY PERKING AT THE OTHER’S WORDS, aforementioned laughter quickly dying down as he blinks a couple times in surprise. the last thing he expected from knuckles was for him to react like that--- especially considering just a moment ago he seemed to be getting infuriated with sonic’s usual antics.

        HAD IT REALLY BEEN A LONG TIME? sonic wasn’t sure whether it was the truth, or knuckles just not knowing how much time exactly had passed once again. it seemed to be a common occurrence, but the hedgehog wasn’t complaining one bit. it wasn’t entirely his fault--- it was rare to see the hero on angel island, or having knuckles off of it after all.

        MAYBE HIS LITTLE MASK WAS SLIPPING. maybe hidden sadness was starting to shine through despite his various attempts at keeping it hidden, buried--- but having knuckles notice and point something like this out? thinking on it for a moment, it’s no real surprise. the echidna was the guardian of the master emerald, as well as angel island--- having to constantly watch, be on guard; noticing changes--- no matter how small--- seemed right up his alley.

        “ well, ya miss a lot when you’re up here all the time. ” HE’S QUICK TO RECOVER FROM THE MILD BEWILDERMENT, ever familiar smug smirk forming as he’s leaning back against the altar’s stairs and arms folding behind his head. of course he’s careful with how he’s speaking--- he’s already gotten on knuckles’ nerves enough to this point, he deserves a little bit of a break. just because sonic understood and respected the other’s devotion to his duty didn’t mean it would save knuckles from his lighthearted teasing.

        SORRY KNUCKLES, that’s a kind of conversation sonic’s not ready to have. not yet, anyway.

Whoops, he let himself fall too close to the ground and face planted right into the grass. He lifted himself up, shaking grass out of his quills as mismatched eyes spotting Knuckles again and he raised a thumbs up.

@ekidvna​   :   silver is an underappreciated gem the best of times and you seized this character with your hands and said 'mine now!' and what an absolute DELIGHT you have created with him. the imagery, symbolism and lore surrounding him is something i never even considered but, my goodness, it's incredible! such amazingly powerful stuff to read! you give silver a really mature depth, but maintain that childish twinge we all know and love so much. you're one in a million, king with a great talent! thank you!

i love dream so much! silver is absolutely a wonderful gem of a character and you do something so incredible in that you make him more endearing and you make him more incredible of a character. the depth and the emotion that you give him is so awesome! i love reading your threads and reading how his mind works and how his relationships slowly develop realistically. i love the voice you give him and the intricacies that make dream who he is. thank you so much for him, anthony! i love ya' both! x
