Thank you for the tag, @slutsons-blog! Starting a new post because I'm autistic and therefore mostly only care about the "Current Obsession" question, and want to ramble excessively as usual in that one.

Last thing I googled: the word "dependent", for spelling assistance. which is a good thing because I spelled it "dependant".

Current Obsession: it's been spn since 2016. Truly we are the Hotel California of media franchises. I did recently play Disco Elysium twice in a row in quick succession, and I follow the DE tag. I can't recommend the game highly enough.... but I can feel my Special Interest-level obsession with it fading already. Spn has never faded even a tiny bit and I wonder if it ever will.

@slutsons-blog I feel after reading that you're watching spn for the first time, that I did you a bit of a disservice with my Sam takes to you before in that I mostly talked about Sam's evolution as a character as the show goes on and very little about him from the first five seasons.

Gotta be honest and tell you that although I liked both brothers all along, I was a Dean girl until the end of s6/beginning of s7, when the balance of who gets whumped the most started shifting and my subconscious suddenly decided to switch allegiances. It's not that I liked Dean any less; my id just loves a sopping wet pathetic kitten of a man who has been sexually abused, and Sam got suddenly way more kitteny and pathetic after the Cage. So I don't actually have a ton of takes on "what to love about Sam in the early seasons". I do love early seasons Sam too--she is my beautiful baby princess--but my early seasons takes are a lot more inchoate.

I count myself lucky about my id's sudden defection though, because I think we have limited control of who our blorbos are, and having Dean as a blorbo is a tough row to hoe as the later seasons go along. You know how you noticed that in s6, Dean suddenly gets a lot more assholey without apparent reason? Unfortunately he never gets better again, and in fact keeps getting worse and worse as the years go by, until by the last seasons he is openly far more abusive to their joint child(-in-an-adult body) than John was to him and Sam. It's a realistic picture of what can happen when trauma keeps piling up on people, but it's also honestly pretty distressing, especially if he's your blorbo.

If one is in it for the ship, there's some good destiel content in the later seasons, but if you're in it for Dean, you're left either 1) dealing with the fact he's got extremely significant interpersonal problems that he never gets much of anywhere on solving and that negatively impact his chosen family in profound ways, or 2) pretending he's the same character he was in s1 and Sam is the same Sam from s1, only more boring, and Dean is just trying to put up with him because he was brainwashed by John (or ig 3- something in the middle between those two. But that seldom seems to happen in practice for whatever reason). These two versions of the show are poorly compatible, and that's how the Sam girls and the Dean girls end up in isolated silos. A few people manage to live in both, but not many.

Anyway, I feel like without the context of how Sam and Dean change in the mid to late seasons, the two fics I recc'd as Sam character studies are going to seem insanely Dean-critical, so if you haven't read them yet, you might want to wait until s10. In the meantime, the general recs are fun reads and hopefully do a good job of showcasing both characters earlier on.

Sending out kudos to everyone who has shown their love towards Ryder for the past two years.

I love u all very much and every engagement, be it even just a like, means a lot to me.

I've intended to sorta make a cool post of some older vp of him as of today, September 17th, exactly 2 years ago I have created Ryder,— back then as a supposed supportive character for Vijay, very unsure if I would like him as Ry didn't visually turn out as I wanted him to be in the first place and he never went that way either afterwards — yet I find myself writing those lines instead.

I've accepted his look and his imperfection started to grow on me with each picture I took of him. Unlike my other ocs he went his own way leading me along to discover his personality. That's what makes him so different compared to my other blorbos and has me so attached to him.

I did not plan to make him a raver (he was supposed to become an 80s goth punk, a total different style than he's got now) neither that he would end up with a rogue AI controlling him. Only his name, basic info and the toxic family story was planned right from the beginning but that's pretty much it – Ryder showed me the rest of it.

Within the year 2023 I noticed more and more that Ryder has slowly but surly turned out to be my main character.

He turned out to be the most expressive and photogenic one of them all. I don't see him as the prettiest looking either yet he's my most precious and I love every pixel about him.

He's the one thing in my life I am actually truly 100% proud of.

Almost all my ocs exist because of him. They are his support characters. Without him half of them would not even exist. There would be no Thyjs. Even Garnet exists so Ry can live out his passion (that was not really put into the game but exists as lore: Technoise).

I am beyond happy to have created him.

He helps me in a lot of rather personal ways too I do not need to address here.

I got so much to tell about him (also about my other ocs) yet idk if I should continue or not as I find myself stuck with overthinking about it bc of lack of public response literally everywhere (this excludes private chat talks with close friends). Maybe Ryder's too intimidating (not the first time I would read that), his lore gets overlooked easily, or it's to much (confusing) text.

I cannot make anyone force-like him. Tastes are different. Minority is into others oc lore. Less time to read it all. The list is long. I'm aware of it all.

But I cannot underline it enough: do never hesitate to ask me questions about him. He's on my mind 24/7 and my biggest wish is to get this story out and done some day (whenever it will be) and receive some actual feedback on it what was liked.

Just a tiny detail is enough. <3

Another wish I have ever since I joined the CP77 fandom: that people would go back to comment each other more. We all do have little time for it, we all think "oh no so much text to read", we all are in our own bubbles rarley coming out to explore another bubble within this universe. It takes a lot of effort to do. people do seem scared on top to write anything at all for numerous reasons. I have all those problems as well. But I try to sit down and read the one or other lore chunk others wrote down and give a tiny comment as best as I can to make the creator have a smile on their lips. I truly wish we all would do this at least once a week to one person. once a month would be also fine. But if we don't this fandom will be dead soon enough and all thats left is just liking vp with characters on it we know almost nothing about. And maybe even those characters won't have lore anymore bc people stop creating it.

Just for fun, here are my rapid fire rambling thoughts on the ATLA ships and platonic dynamics hehe (please don’t go full ship wars tho - these are just my opinions as a chill multishipper!)

My Favorite Ships:

• Zukka - My current brainrot and main ship!! I know they aren’t canon but I really love them and their potential okay😭I just feel like their personalities would work so well! Sokka would call Zuko on his shit and Zuko would be good at grounding Sokka when he needs it. Plus I have seen some absolutely breathtaking AUs with this ship! And fire-and-ice vibes except gay! Them <3

• Kataang - Cutiessss!! I love them! They may not be the ship I think about most often, but when I do think about them, they’re adorable! Aang is such a “my wife” guy and Katara absolutely adores him back! Also the last airbender x last southern waterbender dynamic goes HARD! I like that these two are canon!

• Yuetara - Listen I know they barely interacted but THEY’VE ACTUALLY GROWN ON ME SO MUCH LATELY AND I VERY HIGH KEY SHIP THEM! Something about like, Katara thinking about Yue when she bends is so😭Their story would be heartbreaking in the best way!! Sapphic noncanon blorbos <3

• Mailee - These two are SO cute and have so much potential rahhh!! Again, love some noncanon sapphics <3

• Batkoda - Super SUPER cute and silly and fun! The dads fr <3 Bato is either Katara and Sokka’s adopted uncle or their stepdad and I love it for them hehe! This usually pairs well with a “Hakoda adopts Zuko” AU lmao!

Other Canon/Relatively Popular Ships:

• Zutara - A good ship! I see the potential and tbh it’s very very fun to think about sometimes!!! However, some of y’all toxic Zutara stans need to leave my boy Aang alone lmao. Those who are chill tho, I rock with y’all!! Overall, I’m not opposed if it’s done well and I do sometimes seek out Zutara content! I personally do prefer writing them as found siblings tho, especially with the Azula and Katara parallels!!

• Sukka - Canon cuties!! I really like them! Suki my BELOVED <3 She’s so underrated!

• Yukka - Also canon cuties! They make me sad tho ahhhhh😭😭😭

• Maiko - Also ALSO canon cuties!! They have an interesting dynamic that I can really appreciate! And gotta love Mai <3

• Jinko - Jin my beloved! These two had a super cute dynamic during the one episode they had together lmaoooo, tho I don’t think about this ship too too often.

• Tokka - I don’t mind it if it’s them getting together as adults! But tbh I personally don’t prefer shipping them as teens and I think Toph’s crush was just a typical young girl crush on someone slightly older lol. Definitely not horrible and most Tokka shippers are relatively chill! I like to think Sokka sees Toph as a little sister tho.

Now For Some Of The Crackship-y/Less Popular Ships (based on ships I’ve actually seen):

• Zukki (Zuko/Sokka/Suki) - Power throuple fr and I love some polyamory!! While I mostly lean plain Zukka, this is extremely fun to think about and would be a great dynamic!

• Mai/Ty Lee/Suki - Saw this in a Zukka fic once and it was adorableeeeee! I may not have plans to actively write this or anything, but it’s cute! Another power throuple!

• Jetko - I don’t think they would be compatible long term, but by god they are very very fun to think about in a “Jet flirts with Zuko and Zuko is completely oblivious and they share one kiss before everything goes to shit” way lmao!

• Taang - I can respect it!! I will always love them as chaos siblings personally, but it’s a totally valid and chill ship!

• Katoph - Not a bad ship at all! I’ve only come across like one post tho lmao. Also I do think I heavily prefer them as found sisters, but that’s just me personally! Again, totally a valid and chill ship!

• Azutara - I’m very neutral on this lmao. I don’t despise it at all and it could be pretty interesting?? But tbh really not something I plan to seek out.

• Azulaang - I mean?? I’m also pretty neutral on this one. Aang would be kind to her if she was trying to get help but…idk lmao.

• Tyzula - I see the potential, but I personally think Mai and Ty Lee had a healthier and more interesting and more realistic dynamic. Just my preference tho!

(I think I just want Azula to be in therapy before I reallyyyyy ship her lmao, but NOT THE KIND OF “THERAPY” SHE WAS GIVEN IN THE COMICS)

• Zukaang - I don’t love this as a ship honestly. The canon age gap as teens is sketchy for my personal taste, tho I’ve seen people ship them in “Aang was 16 when he got frozen” AUs and that’s…better and I can get behind it a little! It would be interesting! But I think Roku being Zuko’s great-grandpa just still throws me off of this ship. I don’t have any beef with the shippers tho! I’m very “live and let live” and I have seen so much worse lol.

Can’t Forget My Fav Platonic Dynamics!

• Sokka and Aang - Two found brothers who share one idiot braincell when they interact LMAO! Love them always <3

• Sokka and Katara - The siblings ever!!

• Zuko and Aang - Enemies to found brothers!! Canon besties! I love their friendship and their parallels SO MUCH!!

• Toph and Katara - Absolutely ADORABLE as found sisters!!!! Love them!

• Zuko and Katara - I really like their development in a platonic sense and I think they’re very very fun and lovely found siblings by the end!!!! Zuko is 100% the brother that just “yeah my sister can and will whoop your ass” LMAO!

• Zuko and Toph - Also very found siblings in my head!! Only have a handful of solo interactions in canon but I DON’T CARE! I WILL FOUND FAMILY THEM ANYWAY! I’m a “Toph seeks out Zuko for sibling hugs/cuddles when she’s cold because he’s basically a space heater” truther.

• Uncle Iroh and the Gaang - Zuko needs to learn to share because that is ALL OF THEIR Uncle!!!

• Hakoda and Zuko - I thrive in this section of the fandom!! They have exactly one (1) frame together in canon, but I ADORE Dadkoda adopting Zuko! Something about it is just so wholesome and cute!!! My very very fav ATLA fics are this trope!!#LetHakodaBitchSlapOzaiAndAdoptZuko2024

• Uncle Iroh and Zuko - God they make me so ALSNDKSNXNCNSNSNXNX, y’know?

• The Gaang as a whole - Obvious I know, but I really do love them😭They all bonded sm and I adore their little family!! I eat up fanart of the Gaang cuddling like CANDY omg. And yes Suki is included in the Gaang because WHY WOULDN’T SHE BE!

OHHH I LOVE HIM IMMEDIATELY. FUNNY GUY MESSING WITH THE NARRATOR 💕 (Paranoid is the voice I love most, but I think Contrarian was the one I most quickly loved...)

Impression now

I still absolutely love them, honestly even more now! Unlike with Paranoid, where I was a little worried about her shtick getting old, I unexpectedly did start finding Contrarian's shtick a little old on occasion (okay, mostly in the Wild chapter going the Networked route, where I felt like Connie was messing with the tone of things a bit too much, and I was a bit more eh on them in Fury than some people seem to be though I've come around on that!). But with the full context of the Stranger versions of the endings and even seeing the Wounded Wild version of things with them... Oof, I adore them and they just completely fascinate me, that they have so much character development in this little visual novel where they're basically a side character... And I just adore jesters in all fiction and so I 1000% agree with all the Jester Contrarian people out there! Love them so much!!!!

Favorite moment

I mean, the Stranger version of the ending, honestly. Though to be more specific, I love the way that throwing the blade out the window comes back around in the Stranger ending -- especially if you choose to do it, giving Contrarian their unexpected third beat and them finding it funny that you did it even though this time they discouraged it.

Honorable mention to the little moment they have when you meet the Wounded Wild properly, though. While they discourage you from slaying her by saying it's going against what the Narrator wants, their voice just sounds so shaken that it's obvious that's a justification. Connie really doesn't like seeing the state the Wild is in and doesn't like thinking about hurting her further like this. It goes to show that he can get that Stranger ending development even if you don't go for the Stranger ending, and I love that!

(Also honorable mention to the way they deliver two of their lines in No Way Out: "Too late, because we already did it, didn't we?" and "You're not the only one who can figure out how to do things" are just such fuckin funny lines mostly on the strength of their delivery!)

But okay, other ideas!

I love the possibility that I believe you brought up at one point, of Contrarian and Cold hanging out and egging each other on to do reckless shit but Cold straight-up getting hurt from it and Contrarian panicking because they hadn't wanted that and hadn't quite expected Cold to go that far.

I could also really love an exploration of how to get, or what it might be like to get, Contrarian in either version of Wraith or in Thorn... Or even a theoretical Stranger Chapter III (likely with Cheated)!

Unpopular opinion

I'm not really sure I have any, honestly! I think a lot of people have similar but different takes on Contrarian and nothing I could say is that unpopular... I guess maybe that pre-development, they were more of an asshole in-game than some people seem to think, but also less of one than others seem to think? (They did reassure Hero multiple times in the Stranger chapter, after all!)

Favorite relationship

Oh, absolutely, romance-wise ContraHero is my secondary OTP for this game! Platonically, though (...and okay in some cases romantically), I am really into Contrarian's dynamic and (potential) relationships with Broken, Cheated, Cold, Opportunist, Fury, Stranger, Thorn, Wounded Wild, and the Narrator.

Favorite headcanon

Contrarian being nonbinary is my absolute favorite thing! Some runners-up though: Human!Contrarian (or if Contrarian had to give a human name) would be Connie, Contrarian would absolutely get along great with Cold, and Contrarian would learn how to beatbox and get super good at it.

Gayest Supernatural Character, Quarter-Finals

drama and who do you believe is the truest queerest character in supernatural?

i think all spn polls drama is nonsense. it's fun until people start being actual assholes about stuff, and a poll like 'gayest spn characters' does make the worst elements of the fandom get overly aggressive trying to prove their claim to the queerest blorbo. a lot of people here have attached an unhealthy amount of their own identity to their favorite characters (and specifically, to a very narrow perception of said favorite characters) that leads to them lashing out when they feel that character disrespected, as it feels like a slight against them, personally. deeply strange and uncomfortable behavior when we should all just be talking about how crowley kisses men on screen for fun.

anyway, 'truest queerest character of supernatural' is a bit of a mixed bag because there's two options here. which character is the queerest textually, as in, was allowed to be openly queer and express queer love the longest and most often. and which character's subtextual narrative was most reflective of queerness, which is what a lot of people are arguing about the most. because you can't really argue about the first one. like. the only queer character who got to be queer, openly and constantly and for multiple seasons, make out with multiple women on screen, and not be treated like her sexuality is a joke is charlie bradbury. and we can talk about how well or poorly she's written as a character, but in supernatural, she is like a fucking lesbian beacon. and she's still bare fucking minimum in a cast whose other notable queers consist of 1) joke characters we are meant to mock for the fact that they are queer, 2) one-off characters who either die or in the case of later seasons where killing off gay people instantly because slightly less okay, do not get to express a lot of their queerness on screen before being shunted off to never scare the largely cishet audience again, or 3) villains. just like. villains. i know we love this about them, i know we're all gay little freaks here on the lucifer stan blog who enjoy that he's Like That about sam. but the fact that a lot of the villains on supernatural are queer-coded if not just openly queer is. :/ not great, folks.

and now we get to what my answer is for number 2) most subtextually queer. because like. it isn't charlie. charlie's queerness is not a part of her journey in any way. which is, kind of refreshing? but also very evidently the result of the writers not actually knowing how to integrate a lesbian into their story other than like. let her kiss women. charlie is written about as deep as a puddle 90% of the time, and that's the real crime we should talk about with her at the end of the day. getting distracted. anyway. for subtextual queerness. i mean, for me, it's sam. quite obviously, it's sam. sam the othered, sam the defiled, sam the broken and never pure. sam in his struggles trying to connect to a religion and a god who rejects him. sam who is and always will be the devil himself even when he proves that he can overcome him. sam who cannot win, no matter how quiet he makes himself and how much he acquiesces to the demands of the patriarchal family structure he's been slotted into.

hm. sam who knows he's dying, and sam who refuses to take a chance at life if it means burying everything about himself he's tried to construct and rising again as someone new.

i don't think you can honestly argue that sam's story doesn't resonate queerly. and i know this because most of the arguments i've seen against it have been "well, but sam (or sometimes "jared") feels too straight to be queer in any way". to which the only response can be THEY'RE ALL STRAIGHT. ALL OF THEM. THERE ARE NO QUEER MAIN CHARACTERS ON SUPERNATURAL. and yes, i am intentionally including castiel in there, for the people who argue his status as a main character. no. i don't think a love confession -> death pipeline is particularly compelling as a queer narrative, least of all because his potential queerness has always been treated like a joke or a reason to emasculate him, and to actually explore what it means that castiel loves dean winchester would take a much better show than supernatural could ever be. and it still wouldn't be a show that makes people happy, if it was honest, because it'd be a show about the slow and steady decline of one broken man constantly proven right about his paranoia and his abuse and his control issues, and one broken angel who has set him up as a god because he never really learned what free will was, just learned that following dean winchester means he has it.

like, wow. wow. wow. the amount of angst already, by the end of ch1 I felt so much for MC, I had to take some time after finishing it. breathe in, then out, drink some water. (maybe wine) it was too good. and all the possible angst in future? I'm all giddy just thinking about it!

one wants to see ROs get their memories back. because the angst? the angst would be soo good. from ranges of MCs oh! they remember me! to I'm so sorry you have to remember all of that!, ROs realising why MC reacted the way they did in the beginning and then all other things that could come up with remembering.

and then there's the other wolf, the one that wishes ROs never remember their past lives. because what happened was too much. they're all my little blorbos and I refuse any more harm done their way. they deserve happiness and happiness only! (⁠ ⁠≧⁠Д⁠≦⁠)

anyway, I won't ask which way you want to go with the story, no need to fish for spoilers, right? either way, I know it'll be good and I cannot wait for future chapters!

(I am curious about one thing tho: will the MC have time to properly mourn their past lives (and deaths)? because with all that revenge and dying thing going on it's hard for me to believe MC had time to mourn in their past life. and it's hard for me to imagine them starting anything with current!RO while still seeing ghosts of the past...)

I love how you refer two wolves fighting in you XD But yep - sounds like a dilemma that MC will have in the future as well. Maybe interacting with the gang a bit more would help you come to a conclusion with your inner fight over this (or make it even more painful - of which case I'm sorry XD)

(And to answer this part: MC did have time to mourn...Properly is a bit of a hard word to describe though because MC, even after 5 years, still have troubles accepting their deaths. The ghosts of the past are mainly MC's trauma and hallucinations, just desperately trying to see them alive and breathing.

But given how Chapter 1 has ended, MC won't be having any hallucinations anymore. While they can be in disbelief of the gang being alive, they know in their very soul that the ROs are very much alive - even more so after a scene MC will have with Syl once she learns of MC passing out :x)

Babies first blorbo. Puppy kicking, whip weilding antagonist who giveth not a shiteth. With a soul as black as his gloriously groomed locks. Who, by the power of love is transformed into the soggiest little puddle of twink you ever did see. Tragic backstory ✔️ A smorgasbord of issues ✔️ A realtionship with their rival/best friend so obbsessive, you're going to have a harder time proving this ship isn't a thing than it is. ✔️ Ken Ichijouji came with everything a young, naive millennial needed to make their first glorious steps into the world of fandom.

2. Ryou Bakura/Yami Bakura/Theif King Bakura - (Same body, they count as one!) Yu-Gi-Oh

Ryou Bakura - Adorable British cupcake with the soul of a traumatised lovecraftian cultist. Staring into the abyss while having afternoon tea. Gothic horror in a cream knit.

Yami Bakura - Actual murder floof, the walking personification of a horror podcast. In his wake trails body gore, supernatural mystery and gay subtext. Part demon, part Egyptian theif, 100% bringing sexy back. (bonus points: Florence)

Thief King Bakura - Traumatic back story maketh homicidal rogue. Wears red, has a social circle made up of ghosts and snake monsters... Is this not prime husband material?

3. Starscream - Transformers

Darling little duplicitous second in command of the Decepticons. Not just any 'Little Shit', THE 'Little Shit'. Simulatiously the dumbest and cleverest bot in any room. And that, my friends, takes a particular breed of talent. Negative traits, scheming, petty, fabulous. Postive traits, scheming, petty, fabulous. Repetitive attempts to off Megatron, play of either the power or fore variety. Not sure which, could be both.

4. Darth Maul/ General Armitage Hux- Star Wars

I will not and cannot choose a favourite between them. Instead, watch with wonder and awe as I neatly compress them into the same blurb...

Sad meow meow with self-worth issues does galactic war crimes to prove 'daddy' wrong. What do you mean my fixation with thwarting my archnemeis can't be classed as a hobby/career goal/life ambition? My voice can launch a thousand ships... Different circumstances, same truth. Such a pathetic little sausage, you'll want to sit them down and feed them soup. But they know atleast 101 ways to kill you with the spoon... So best not risk it.

5. Crowley - Supernatural

The diabolical king of cunt serving. Me and my athletic calves are doing this right thing for all wrong reasons...And you can't prove other wise! Alignment: Risk it for a biscuit. 1. Dieter Bravo - he enjoys horrible jokes and puns, touches all the things and people, has his robe, is an artist and he doesn’t always do drugs. He’s sensitive and smarter than people think okay?! He’s the little grabby trash panda that can! 🦝 Dieter likes to roll with what his partner does in the bedroom but on occasion, he’ll take charge. He enjoys surprises in and out of the bedroom.

2. Frankie Morales - he’s usually a pilot, sometimes a mechanic. Always does something with his hands. Those hands they take machines and bodies apart. No longer in combat, as a civilian. Sometimes it’s on a car or plane that they pull things apart. Other times, it’s the body of his partner as he makes them call and cry for him. He also isn’t good with his words so he’s more about actions though it can get kinda muddled. Frankie can switch between being dominant or submissive depending on his partner’s needs. They’ll need to remind him of his own needs.

3. Din Djarin - Sometimes he’s modern, sometimes he’s canon with his beskar. Always kind behind his sighs and despite looking like he’s break everything, he’s gentle and feels deeply. He might be a bit neurotic. It bodes well for plans of attacks and escapes not so much for over-analyzing everything a partner says or does. He’ll always take care of any foundling or child in his care - no matter if it’s Grogu or someone else’s child. Din is a soft dom. I will die on this hill.

I don’t really have any AUs I hate. I’m not a fan of school AUs mainly because I never know what to write for them and they’re kids and I didn’t stay on campus for college so I don’t have a reference for that. I enjoy modern AUs - easy to write for. 🤣 I should try an actual AU, maybe fantasy since I had an idea for that with Din but nothing is written. Just bullet points and vibes.

My favorite character dynamic usually starts off as plutonic and then becomes romantic or is some sort of meet-cute. I do like when maybe the reader or Pedro boy has been watching the other for a bit, and then finally makes their move. Hehe! 😆 I could write plutonic but I feel like there’s plenty of that in the movies and shows so let me live out my twisted dreams 🤗

There’s two characters I want to write more for:

I need to write more for Pero. Either canon, modern or in some other AU. I need to have more of this man on my masterlist being grumpy, growling, mutter Spanish at me the reader or OFC (we know I love my OFCs ok? I like names! 😁) his broad, curly haired self with a sword or soaking in a tub. 👀

I also need to write more for Jack Daniels aka Agent Whiskey, aka, the only reason I would ever don cowboy boots. A stronger southern drawl than Joel in 200% more denim and 100% more ten gallon hat. I’m not sure where I would stick him except in between some thighs.

if u dont want my long ass rambling about Alastor, and some minor spoilers, dont look 😅 but he's my blorbo and therefore i'm studying him like a fucked up little bug (affectionate)

I see Alastor's character as a combination, mainly, of three main traits/motivations, plus one that i'm more guessing on but wouldnt surprise me:

1. he lacks empathy. this isn't a moral judgment, just a trait he displays

2. he seeks freedom above all else, but if asked, would rather admit to seeking power above all else. i believe his attempts to gain power are (consciously or not) a means to the end of freedom, not vice versa

3. he sorts people (demons, angels, whatever) into two categories: those he has control over, and those he doesnt. he is capable of respecting and forming relationships with only the latter category. not saying theyre healthy relationships, but they are often at least somewhat functional and prove lasting

the fourth (speculation) is that he hates himself lmao. which i think gets very intertwined with number 3. he's very self centered, that's just his view of the world(s). he has more respect for people who he has trouble controlling because he sees them as being in the same category as himself (as opposed to them being in the broader general category of a puppet audience beneath him). however he's not able to feel anything much deeper for them, because if his only lenses are "idiots" vs. "people like me", well. he has no respect for the former and no capability for love of the latter.

i think his inability to feel empathy or love leads him to have interesting motivations. freedom through power is perhaps the main one, as i mentioned. but when he first came to the hotel he stated his main goal was to be entertained. while he definitely had additional motives, i do think that was a true statement.

i think he's fascinated by Charlie because, well. she's the princess of hell. she should theoretically be one of the most powerful beings there. she *could* rule hell with an iron fist, if she wanted. but she doesnt. and i think Alastor wanted to see what that was about, i think it intrigued him.

right off the bat, she refuses to make a deal with him. that choice solidly places her in the "people he respects" category, by virtue of her keeping grasp on her own power and freedom. since that's Alastor's main goal for himself, it makes sense that he is drawn to others who manage to achieve it. if she'd taken a deal, the rest of the season wouldve gone way differently.

and probably, not as entertainingly.

one of the key parts of entertainment is that you don't quite know what's going to happen next. for a control freak like Alastor, that's hard to come by, unless he himself *is* the entertainment (which is a big part of his character). but he stated he came to the hotel to BE entertained. i see that as an admission that he didnt know what to expect from the hotel. which, coming from a powerful being, is quite a compliment- almost a statement that he believes in them.

i think Charlie challenges those fundamental categories that he puts people in. he can't sort her into either one. he can't control her, but she's nothing like himself. he knows she has something he doesn't. and unlike most other people, it's not something he can take from her to acquire for himself:

the ability to love.

the hotel didn't quite redeem him just yet: but i think it made him consider things he never had before.

i found it interesting that there was no big fuss about his return. they had to all assume he was either dead, or deserted them. he had to know that they would assume one or the other: and neither one looks good on him. yet he confidently just shows up again and falls right back into the group. whether he realizes it or not, he knows on some level that they will accept him back.

he might not be able to love himself, and he might not be able to love them- maybe not yet, or maybe even not ever. but some part of him knows that they love him. and accepts it enough to go back without shame.

some might read that as more of a strategic move to keep furthering his own ends. and actually tbh i think *he* only sees it as that.

but there *is* more to it than that. there *is* love there, and he's connected to it in some way, which is probably a first for him. and i think/hope that *thats* what will end up being the key to his freedom.

He shifts all the bags to his left hand in order to open the front door, thankfully still unlocked from when he’d left for work this morning.

They might not live in the best neighbourhood, but no one’s got the gall to rob this particular apartment. Between Amir’s refusal to deny having a body count and the disappearance of several questionable people, and Ryou’s love of curses that no one can confidently say don’t work after Mr. Miura, the creepy neighbour with the binoculars and a camera, caught the literal bubonic plague.

Of course those are merely exaggerations that they’re more than happy to allow to fester.

The neighbourhood pervert did get the plague though.

“I’m home!” he calls out.

He tosses his shoes aside, slips into his slippers, and takes the groceries to the kitchen.

“Hey, babe!" he gets back from somewhere down the hall.

He sets the bags on the counter and begins sorting through his items. His ingredients are to be used tonight, and he organizes them into neat piles for better access for when he’ll need them.

He wonders what Amir’s up to; he’s usually lounging in the living room by the time Ryou’s done work, but his voice had come from the direction of the bedroom and bathroom area. He’d texted to say he was on his way home after a pit stop at the shop and had gotten a happy face emoji in response. He’s a little surprised he wasn’t pounced on the moment he stepped through the door.

“I’ve got a package for you!" Amir shouts, still down the hall somewhere.

“Ha ha - I haven’t heard that one before,” Ryou teases back, raising his voice to ensure it carries over to his partner.

He expects Amir means it literally rather than as an innuendo. Ryou does a lot of online shopping for art supplies and when he’s feeling too lazy to go to a store. Today’s delivery was for something in the latter category, a little something special for their night time activities.

Because he gets things delivered so often and Amir is usually home to receive them, he has carte blanche to open whatever comes in so he can sort out the recycling and garbage accordingly. Ryou had hoped to get to this one first, but hadn’t bothered telling Amir not to open it either. He pictures the look on his face and smiles, pleased with the mental image.

Everything is finally set aside. He carefully folds his bags to put them away.

“Hey, sexy.” His partner’s voice comes from a little ways behind him.

“Hi, darling,” Ryou looks over his shoulder to offer him a smile, but what he finds makes him burst out laughing. He turns fully and leans back against the counter for support. His hands cover his mouth to smother the noise and tears prickle at the edges of his eyes.

It’s the special something he’d had delivered, and Amir is wearing it. Or, better described, attempting to wear it.

His partner isn’t much taller than Ryou, two inches to be exact, but he’s a lot thicker. Between his work as a mechanic in his brother Marik’s motorcycle dealership slash repair shop and his love of bodybuilding, he's developed some spectacular muscles, from rippling biceps to ridiculous thighs. The red velour dress, trimmed with white fluff, covers his chest and stomach, but is stretched to the maximum ability of the material. It’s a long-sleeved garment that’s meant to be off the shoulder; Amir doesn’t have the sleeves on at all and has them dangling limply at his sides - Ryou has to wonder how far he got along his arms before he gave up.

Ryou knows Amir must be wearing briefs because the hem is short enough that he’d be seeing something dangling down there otherwise. To finish the ensemble, the candy cane striped stockings are pulled over his feet and bunched at his ankles - if they couldn’t get over his calves they were never going to make it up his thighs. Ryou had planned to do something fun with his hair rather than get the santa hat to go with it, and Amir’s spiked blonde hair remains untouched.

He’s standing with his chest puffed up and hands on his hips, accentuating the look. He’s incredibly proud of himself.

“Oh my god… You look stunning!” Ryou manages to swallow back his laughter. He wipes away a stray tear and one of his hands drops to his aching stomach. He takes in a deep breath to steady himself and manages to stop himself from starting up laughing again. He’s ridiculously hot, but also probably very uncomfortable.

“You think?” Amir poses - one hand on his hip and the other curled up to flex his bicep.

He giggles but doesn’t let it set him off again.

“Absolutely. I’m guessing you like my present?”

“Hell yeah.” Amir steps into his space. Ryou has to tilt his head back just slightly to keep their eyes locked. Amir sets his hands on his waist and Ryou throws his arms around his shoulders instinctively. “Had a good day at work, or do you need cheering up?”

“I wish I could say I need cheering up, but it was actually a good day.”

Amir pouts.

“But still - I couldn’t have asked for a better homecoming. Can you breathe in that?” Ryou curls his finger into the top of the dress and pulls it back; a red line is visible where it’s been digging into his skin.

“Only kind of, but that’s why they say beauty is pain, baby.”

“You’re ridiculous,” Ryou shakes his head while smiling affectionately.

Amir leans down and kisses him. His hands are quick to move from his hips to his ass, tugging him away from the counter into his chest. Ryou parts his lips for him and moves where he’s guided without protest. They lazily make out for a short while, but Ryou is careful not to let it get any further. When Amir reaches for his zipper, he tugs his hand away and ignores the sad huff.

The front door opens and closes.

Amir draws back with a groan, “Tell me that’s not fucking Bakura.”

“I told you he was going to help me bake some treats for Yugi’s party.”

“That’s tonight?”

“It is Friday, darling, and the party is tomorrow.”

“Ugh.”

Amir drops his forehead on Ryou’s shoulders and leans his weight against him, forcing him back against the counter. Ryou pets his hair in faux comfort, knowing his partner is exaggerating his annoyance.

“Seriously?” Bakura whines from the kitchen entryway.

Ryou leans sideways to look behind Amir and sees his best friend covering his eyes with an obvious frown on his face.

“Sorry, he forgot you were coming by tonight.”

“I wish I didn’t know you people.”

Ryou laughs and gently pushes Amir off of him, “Go get changed before he has an aneurysm.”

“Where’s the bleach? I need to dissolve my eyeballs.”

“Idiot.” Amir rolls his eyes, but there’s affection in it. He releases his hold on Ryou and leaves the kitchen. He gives Bakura a hip check as he passes him in the entryway, knocking him into the wall, but he stubbornly doesn’t uncover his eyes.

“Ouch, you bitch! Go put pants on, asshole!”

Amir pads away.

“Is he gone?” Bakura asks.

“Yes.”

“Are you lying?”

“No, you big baby.”

Bakura peeks through his fingers and looks around. Seeing that it’s safe, he lowers his hands and crosses his arms.

“You sure that’s the one you want to marry?”

Ryou giggles and feels his cheeks warm; he always gets giddy at the mention of their engagement. He tucks his left hand against his chest and caresses the ring with his right hand. It’s a simple gold band, something that won’t interfere with his artwork or get caught in anything, practical the way his partner knows he prefers for a permanent fixture.

He can’t help the way his heart rate picks up or how his stomach flutters happily. They’ve only been engaged for almost two months. Amir, who has known him five years and been dating him for three, knew that the best time to pop the question would be on their mutual favourite holiday - Halloween.

Bakura had once been the weird one between him and Ryou, best friends since childhood, because Ryou used to hide it better. Ever since getting involved with Amir, they’ve both embraced their inner freaks and are entirely shameless about it. Bakura can’t say he likes the taxidermy around their apartment, but hey, his best friend is happy and more himself than he’s ever been, so whatever.

That is to say, they go full out on Halloween. They start decorating in mid-September and host a giant party with smoke and animatronics and all sorts of creepily realistic blood and gore and body parts that had someone calling the police on them one year. To fully complete the event, they have to have the most intricate costumes. In the last couple of years, Halloween has landed on a weekday, so they’ll have a costume to stay at home and hand out candy, but for the party? That’s when the body paint comes out.

For this particular year, they went with ‘angel and demon’ as a couples costume. Only, Ryou was a biblical angel and Amir was Ryou’s vision of a biblical demon.

Truly horrifying, the both of them.

They took proper engagement photos a few days later, but the one they have framed on the wall is the one where the painted eyes on Ryou’s face are streaked with tears and Amir is a grotesque image of blood with freaky realistic bugs crawling out of his mouth.

Bakura had always known Ryou was a talented artist, but they had been genuinely hard to look at (which had been the intention). It’s an engagement picture befitting this couple.

“Be nice, or your demoted from best man to flower girl.”

“Don’t tempt me with a less demanding role.”

“Wash your hands. We have baking to do.”

“I was promised coffee mochi.”

“And you will have it, dear brother, if you do your part.”

The familial title melts his heart, as Ryou had expected and happily uses to manipulate him, and Bakura’s frown finally turns into a grin.

“Aye, aye, Captain!”

Hair is tied up out of their faces, hands are washed, and aprons are tied on. Ryou pulls up the recipe on his phone and hands it to Bakura for dictating and begins pulling out the necessary equipment. Amir returns not much later now wearing sweatpants and a loose fitting t-shirt, a relief from the beyond skin-tight lingerie.

“That’s better,” Bakura snarks.

“Consider it payback for the time I had to see your bare ass.”

“That was your fault for not knocking!"

“Who doesn’t lock the bathroom door?”

“Fuck off. Your brother likes my bare ass just fine.”

“Marik owns a leather t-shirt, he obviously has shit taste.”

“Says the guy who unironically likes Michael Bay movies.”

“Dude, explosions are fucking epic.”

“You-”

“Settle down, boys,” Ryou scolds lightly. He’s used to their bickering, it’s how these two know how to show their affection for each other, but he needs Bakura focused. “Did you get that thing off alright?”

“Don’t worry, babe, it’s still in one piece for tonight’s show and tell.”

Bakura groans.

“That’s good to hear. Why don’t you go find a movie to watch? Put it loud enough for us to hear.”

“Alright, I know when I’m not wanted.”

“Mhm. Thank you!”

Amir kisses his temple, pinches Bakura’s side, and takes his leave again.

His partner hates anything to do with the kitchen, and Ryou knows he could ask him to help, but doesn’t see a need to do so. Bakura doesn’t mind hanging out and washing dishes and reading off the recipes for him, they���ve been doing this together almost all their lives.

Amir will happily eat whatever they cook up, from the excellent to the experimental that has made him ill on at least two occasions. And in exchange for Ryou handling the cooking, Amir does the laundry - a chore he can complete in an evening whereas Ryou will take 3-5 business days. It’s a very fair trade.

A familiar intro starts up from the living room and the volume steadily increases until it flows into the kitchen.

Ah, one of their favourites - The Nightmare Before Christmas.

“I wanna go home,” Bakura whines.

He’s met with two maniacal laughs.

Here we go again! Things I loved about episode four of Ahsoka! Spoilers under the cut.

SABINE'S CHOICE

Listen, I get why people don't like it, but I loved it. I loved it so much. I have loved Ahsoka for well over a decade, but I am watching this show to see Ezra Bridger come home. It has been on my mind for years, and seeing how much it's weighed on Sabine? Seeing how desperately she wants to reunite with him? I was on the edge of my seat. I was right there with her.

No, but seriously. Dave separated my two blorbos, kept them apart for a DECADE, and then dangled one of them like a carrot in front of the other and asked, "Well? Will you risk the hard-fought peace of the universe for one person?" AND THEN MY BLORBO SAID YES I WILL.

Prime angst. Absolutely delicious.

ALSO, the fact that this scenario is happening to Ezra and Sabine?? Out of all the characters in Star Wars??? It feels so surreal.

And to top it all off, Natasha and Ray acted the heck of out it. Utterly breathtaking.

I'm not too miffed about Baylan implying Ezra is Sabine's only family—he's twisting the knife as skillfully as he can, and it's not necessarily the truth.

I also think Sabine knows what he's doing. She's a genius, and she's very wary of being manipulated. I think she sees the scenario for what it is. She can't beat him, there's no guarantee her blaster can actually destroy the map, and she wants to find Ezra. She is literally holding all her hope in the palm of her hand. She isn't willing to let that hope go, and I don't blame her.

Lastly—I do have sympathy for the Sabine/Ezra shippers, but I really, really hope they keep this platonic. As someone who is probably ace, seeing a platonic relationship held to this degree of importance is everything to me.

YESSSS I FREAKING LOVE GETTING ASKS FOR LAILA SHE IS MY BLORBO-

1. Do they sleep with a stuffed animal? If they have multiple, who’s the favorite?

Onnie hasn't had any stuffed animals in years. Eobard made her get rid of them all as soon as she was like, 12, because he thought they were developmentally inappropriate for her age. She had a frog named Tedward (some weird amalgamation of Ted and Edward) and that was her favorite as a kid.

I... don't think Laila is even aware of what a stuffed animal is, considering that she was raised from infancy to be the Empire's weapon. Athena's probably not much help with that one, since she grew up on the streets and having toys falls to the wayside when compared to things like food and shelter.

3. Ask them to describe their love interest.

"Pippa is... an idiot. I can't stand her, she drives me insane, but I can't help but be strangely drawn to her. She's obnoxious, and I really wish she'd back off, but something about her is just so endearing. Maybe it's that she manages to bring back to life the part of me I thought died a long time ago. Or maybe she's just kinda hot."

"Athena's ruthless, reckless, and I never lose the feeling that she's going to backstab me. But she's the only person who's ever given more than two shits about me in my life, so hey, what the heck? Not like I have much else to lose anyway. I'm pretty sure I care a lot more about her than she does about me, but even if this is a short ride, it's a good ride, and I'm not getting off."

4. Do they look good in red?

Onnie looks fantastic in red, so long as the shade's not too orangey. Shades closer to orange (and orange itself) tend to bring out the olive undertones in their skin in a bad way, making them look kinda yellow and sickly.

Laila doesn't look good in most shades of red, except the darker ones, like burgundy and maroon. Bright colors tend to clash with her already near-translucent pale skin, making her look even more pale than she already is.

Onnie learned how to be a killer from Eobard. He taught her everything- where the best places to stab someone are, how to rip out someone's heart with your bare hands, how to snap people's necks. Insert Onnie having the sudden "Holy shit I had a bad childhood" realization here.

Laila doesn't have parents. Being a clone, I guess you could technically say that either the parents of her donor are her parents, who she's never met, or the woman who raised her, but anyone calling Nyx a mother would be absolutely insane to say that, since the relationship that Laila (and Pyrrha, later on) had with her was one-sided, conditional, and both emotionally and physically abusive.

15. What would they consider a waste of time– other than school or work?

Onnie considers friendships and other relationships a waste of time. Since they (in very rapid succession) lost their girlfriend, accidentally killed their best friend, and then Jessi faked her own death (which was believed to have been a suicide), Onnie is kinda afraid to open up, but through a lot of mental gymnastics, she thinks it's because she's better than everyone rather than just plain trauma.

Laila considers training non-Force Sensitives in the Jedi arts to be a complete waste of time. Athena's asked her multiple times to try teaching her to do some of the things that Laila can do, like the gymnastics and meditation and stuff, but the most Laila will show her is how to use a lightsaber- weapons are pretty universal, after all.

Onnie would probably cry. They've been repressing a lot of emotions for a very long time, and any show of weakness could get her in trouble with Eobard, so if she knew it would be excused, I think Onnie would finally let go and feel those emotions.

Laila would tell Athena that she loves her. She'd never say it to Athena's face, especially since Athena kinda scares her and let's be real, she's not even sure if Athena even is capable of caring about a person other than herself. However, if she knew that it wouldn't ruin their relationship completely, Laila would tell Athena how she felt.

Oh, easy. Spoilers for the end of Skulduggery Pleasant book 3, and much vaguer spoilers for book 7 (just scroll until you see the Drow in the green cloak to skip them)

Fandom first. Skulduggery Pleasant and Valkyrie Cain, the main duo of my absolute favourite book series, Skulduggery Pleasant. I’ll assume you know nothing about them because that lets me ramble even more

At the start of the series, Valkyrie is 12 and her uncle just got murdered as part of a plot to bring back ancient eldritch gods (of course, they don’t know that from the get-go). She meets Skulduggery when a nameless henchman (who I later found out from the wiki is called Vindick Leather) breaks into her uncle’s house while she’s staying there for the night and attacks her; Skulduggery then uses air magic to blast the front door off of its hinges, sets the guy on fire, shoots him in the shoulder, and loses his disguise in the fight therefore revealing that he’s a skeleton

Long story short, she takes his hat hostage and threatens to trample it if he doesn’t let her tag along, and now she’s his partner in crime

Sorcerers choose their own names by the way, so Skulduggery literally named himself Trickery, and this happened before he became a skeleton and it also became a pun. Valkyrie named herself partway through their first case

Great, context and exposition out of the way! I LOVE THEIR DYNAMIC SO SO MUCH!! They shaped pretty much my entire sense of humour, I love them, I’ve loved them since I was 9 or so and I wanted to be like Valkyrie when I grew up. The way they bounce off of each other, the way they’re perfectly in sync, the little codes and recurring phrases they have that only have meaning to them (“the sparrow flies south for winter”, “doors are for people with no imagination”, and “until the end”). I just love them both so much

The fact that Valkyrie was willing to open the portal to the home world of ancient eldritch gods who despise humanity, just on the very slim chance he would be alive and have even the smallest shred of sanity left, after having been dragged there a year prior. The fact that Skulduggery was willing to go into complete and total isolation for eternity to protect her in the magic equivalent of cryogenic sleep if it came down to that. They would do literally anything for each other. I think I’m running out of ways to put how much I adore their dynamic into words, so I’ll sum it up as the ideal example of platonic soulmates. They’re very, very special to me

I mostly just talked about the serious side of their dynamic because I have no clue how to put the more lighthearted side into words without rattling off quotes. Rest assured, they are also hilarious

Right, OC time. I have a limited selection; most OCs I made have been lost to time, either because they got attached to bad memories (like Kai Zoku, who I am only mentioning because I still think his name is great; it’s literally just the Japanese word for pirate and he was the Ultimate Pirate Captain. It’s an Ace Attorney level name pun, I love it), or because the D&D campaign they were made specifically for crashed and burned and I never found somewhere else for them to fit (looking at you, Myra.. at least I could recycle her name into my GW2 character)

Anyway! This is Kyrae, my Drow Warlock. Her campaign has been on a cliffhanger for two years and is officially coming back next month! This is a picrew, but I edited all of the colours myself. It’s not 100% accurate, but it’s the best I can do

Kyrae (no last name) is from the jungle region of Xen’drik, a continent where dinosaurs still roam and everything is shrouded in disorienting, cursed mist. Her campaign is in Eberron, a lesser-used official setting, and Eberron Drow are split into three main cultures; the Sulatar, the Umbragen, and the Vulkoori

Kyrae is Vulkoori, a culture of many tribes - some more nomadic than others - who all worship the scorpion god Vulkoor, all in different ways. In Kyrae’s tribe, he has the epithets Vulkoor the Hunter and Vulkoor the Wrathful. They honour him via skilled hunting, and when given a reason to, being so ruthless and brutal that they’ve gained a reputation as bloodthirsty. That reputation came from their enemies, but they’ve never corrected it. They’re mostly isolated, with a few good allies to trade with

Her cloak was a gift from her best friend, Ryzul, who was stung by a scorpion while they were out hunting together. He was dead before they got home. Kyrae overheard a discussion about what to do; this was clearly a sign that Vulkoor was angry with the tribe, so maybe a sacrifice would appease him. And who better, than the victim’s closest friend, who was with him at the time? It’s been implied that there was another reason for that decision, but that was said out of character, so she has no idea

She ran when she heard that, and didn’t stop until she bumped into a shadowy figure wearing a smooth, white mask, with nothing but three black crescents in the shape of a smiling face. An Archfey. He seemed surprised that she could see him, and they struck a deal. She clearly needed help, and he was incredibly bored, so he would provide that help and she would provide a good story to watch. He helped her find the only port, and she boarded a ship to Korvaire, the continent the campaign takes place on

Fast forward maybe 20 minutes after stepping off of the boat. Kyrae caught a goblin child pickpocketing her, which lead to a guard attempting to throw the goblin off of a ledge, which of course lead to combat. Kyrae wasn’t having that, no harm had actually been done. For her first turn in the first combat in her first hour of being on this continent, she had her familiar, Vanguard (a winged mongoose who was summoned on the boat ride, more on him later), barrel into the guard and send him hurtling off the ledge. The rest of the party saw the fight break out, helped her, and she just kind of started following them because no one objected. They’re her tribe now, and her entire sense of identity, morality, and purpose is based on them, what she thinks they would or would not approve of, etc

So, Vanguard. A winged mongoose. The wings don’t have much significance, I had a choice between a familiar that can fly or a familiar that can swim really fast. They’re feathered, but I was so indecisive about what they actually look like that I ended up deciding they’re from a different bird every time he’s summoned. Now, the other half of his description is way more important, and I spent SO LONG deciding on it. I didn’t concern myself with specific species because then I would have never settled on one and he’s technically a Fey anyway, but. A mongoose is not only an animal Kyrae could have reasonably seen before, but they’re known for resisting venom and fighting venomous animals. Kyrae just turned her back on a scorpion god. It’s simple, but I think I’m clever. This art is, as always, by @prince-frederic

I’ll pull back the curtain a bit here; she was inspired by Hammerlock! More specifically, it went like this:

Hammerlock would be really fun to have in Bloodborne, but I obviously can’t just take an existing character and use him in this TTRPG. It boils down to someone having the time of their life fighting the horrible monstrosities and maybe writing things down about them - can’t take cool trophies when you need to stay mobile. How do I justify that in such a dark setting? Maybe their dad was a hunter and they’ve grown up hearing stories about it, but they have no idea what they’re actually getting themselves into!

The end result is Vivian, who’s thrilled to be playing out the stories she’s grown up with now, and is filling out a sketchbook (with suspiciously red ink) along the way. She became a 16 year old white girl because she was made for a TTRPG campaign, and I can’t change my voice very much. She has no idea that when her father told those stories, he left out the traumatic parts

Daniel Harker was a fairly accomplished hunter. I say was, because this time, he refused to leave home to hunt. That was the first sign that something wasn’t right. The rest were little things, like teeth that are slightly sharper than before, eyes that reflect light like a cat’s. Little things, that indicated some kind of transformation was coming

Vivian could tell. She knew that the monsters used to be people, that hunters get affected the worst of all. She couldn’t get answers, though. So she took his equipment - the clothes a little too big for her - and left only a note to explain where she had gone

She’s thrilled to be here, to actually be fighting these creatures she’s been told about so many times, to be slowly filling her book with sketches and notes, but time is limited. She just doesn’t know how limited

The other, crucial thing she doesn’t know, is that there are no happy endings to be had in Yharnam

1 - What inspired you to start writing fanfiction?

been daydreaming about putting fictional characters in Scenarios as long as i can remember and always liked creative writing. it was just kinda inevitable.

2 - How do you come up with your plot ideas?

the three main causes are usually 1 - offshoot of another au(s), 2 - i did/experienced a thing what if the blorbos did as well, 3 - i like a thing lets put blorbos in it, 4 - what if this guy just had a really fucking bad time.

point 1 more often leads to little offshoots i keep to myself but sometimes they become their own thing like netherborne coming from a blend of firstborn and snake oil. point 2 usually leads more to individual scenes than whole fics but all of my videogame-based aus and most crossovers fall into that. point 3 is where all the centaur aus and westerns come from because i just like centaurs and westerns. point 4 is the most common. i will forever be finding new ways to give blorbos the worst possible time.

13 - What's the most challenging aspect of writing fanfiction for you?

if theres a character i just Dont Get. if i feel like i understand a character well writing them is lovely but if i dont its like pulling teeth. recently i had to rewatch nimona and literally take notes on a certain character because not getting them was making writing my big bang fic so fucking hard

27 - What two (or more) fandoms would you like to see a crossover for? Would you ever write it?

it occured to me recently that nimona and cult of the lamb would probably mesh quite well - im definately not the first person to say theres some religion-y Themes in the film and i keep meaning to explore the theology of cotl. as for whether id write it, im not sure how id feel about having both a nimona and beetlejuice au for the same game. just looking at it surface-level, i feel like the characters of beetlejuice map across to the game better but nimona is more of a theme match, and id say im more of a character-driven writer, so id probably stick with the beetlejuice au.

i also want to cross either nimona or beetlejuice with dredge since ive been playing that recently (point 2 of question 2 in practice here) but im undecided as to which. it basically boils down to beetlejuice makes more sense as an eldrich ocean horror but i prefer nimona as a character, and ballister makes more sense as a lonely fisherman facing the Horrors but i prefer lydia. the thing is tho is that this is fanfiction and things making sense got thrown out the window at the start, and i am starting to think the conclusion here is to mash all three together into an ocean-y mess.

North Talks About His Blorbo || Accepting

1. My favorite thing about writing Tim is his dialogue! It's the thing that initially made me fall in love with his character, and it's just such a ball sometimes to write something outside of my original works, which are all fantasy or sci-fi based.

2. Hm. I don't think I have a favorite on its own, but I'll identify a couple! One thing I really like is his hair, and the journey it's been on. From cropped and gelled, to floppy and overgrown, you can tell a lot about a character based on his haircut! Some other things that contend for favorite, though, are his grins. They're usually either very goofy and earnest, or they're smug and mischievous. It's hard not to find them a little bit infectious! Lastly, I'll mention his scars. He's got quite a few by now, some on his hands, some on his neck, and the burn scars on the back of his head. They tell his history as a vigilante, and I find them a useful feature to mention in some scenes to create extra immersion, or to act as a sensory detail.

3. Oh man, my favorite alternate version of this muse... Okay, I'm gonna say one canon one, and one of my own verses. My favorite canon appearance of Tim outside of the comics is in the Batman Unlimited movies. Yuri Lowenthal's voicing of him is delightful, and his personality is such a treat! In my opinion, he's the most accurate animated Tim to comic Tim (in personality/characterization) that I've ever seen.

Now, as for my own verses... My favorite alternate Tim is in my Rogue AU, where Tim is Crow, the apprentice to Scarecrow. He's sort of like the polar opposite to everything that canon Tim is, so it's really fun because it's different and adds variety to my version of this character.
