4. riku ("he's in a band, why is he not the best one" honestly.. i don't imagine his voice being THE best one? i certainly think riku's voice would be very powerful and he would have a wide range, but it's not always that pleasant to listen to. i imagine his vocals being good, but not.. unique, you know? he's very insecure about it too and it doesn't help that he has some problems with his throat, so he has to be very careful. i also imagine him to be a better songwriter and a guitarist rather than a vocalist.)

5. yurika (just like kei, she can easily change her voice and it's surprisingly strong, so yeah, she can still definitely handle a song like meme. however, she's lower than riku because her voice is a little.. like, again, i don't think people would enjoy listening to her real voice that much. her real singing literally sounds like screaming sometimes.)

6. eiko (not particularly good, but not particularly bad. her vocals are not that special, but she's also not as bad as the prisoners below. she doesn't really care about that though, since she's not interested in singing anyway. however, she's confident enough to assume eiji will like her voice in her first vd, so yeah, queen behavior.)

7. reina (her voice is way too high-pitched so when she starts singing, it sounds like a crying child.)

it's a bit hard to talk about the guards' vocals, but surprisingly, hiyuu is actually the most musically gifted out of all of them. just like kei's voice, his voice is not for everyone and it's very quiet and whispery, but he has the most experience with singing and music in general out of all three. he would most likely be between riku and yurika.

miki comes second, i think she would have the potential, but because of how much of an anxious wreck this girl is, her voice wouldn't be that strong and it would be hard for her to sing fast-paced songs or songs that require more powerful vocals. it would be hard for her to sing certain notes too and she doesn't have much experience, so i think she'd be somewhere between yurika and eiko.

eiji. oh, eiji. i actually think his "milgram" vocals would be SO GOOD, like i just know his cover of animal with the amane cover instrumental would sound amazing, but in real life.. he's not that good at singing. yeah, he's terrible actually. most of the time he can't sing even one line because he just goes "UGH THIS IS STUPID" and leaves. which is a shame because sanadas love going to karaoke, so kei kinda forces him to sing at least something. he'd be somewhere between akio and shun. asahi point and laugh at him.

character design is a true passion of mine, so i infodumped broke down my process below the cut!! do note i'm not approaching this as someone who would have to consider fight choreo and stunts and whatnot. just a disclaimer lol

The thing i immediately hated was how human-like his face looked?? or at least his mouth. yuck. while i get wanting to set Ankh apart from the other greeeds, there's a difference between uniqueness and breaking the rules of design you've put in place for a set of characters. Uva, for instance, has a very bug-like face, whereas Mezool has almost no face thanks to the orca's mouth framing it. That means there's two major ways for a greeed's face to look, and i think where they went wrong was trying to do something entirely different for ankh.

i kindof get what they were going for by making the bird face frame Ankh's *real* face, but imo they added too much detail to both. if youre making the big face's mouth frame the actual face, don't give the actual face a mouth lol, it crowds the design too much and looks confusing. Plus, he's a suit character, he doesn't exactly need a mouth to talk from!! So for this redesign, i made both faces much more simple and gave the primary face a sortof stand-in mouth.

Next thing was the hair. why, why, WHY on EARTH does the hair on Ankh's full form not match the hair he gives the people he possesses?!?!?!? that was the first visual hint we get as to Ankh's full appearance when he changes Shingo's physical attributes upon possessing him, and when he possesses Eiji it does the same swoopy thing. so. i made my design have hair that does that. this is basic shit yall come on 😭

Then i saw the dinky lil drab half-cape they gave him and i said oh no. oh honey. this is a BIRD. you've Gotta give him more drama than that. i kept the black to break up the ocean of red in the design (and i'll admit it is still a little red-heavy up top), but since he is a bird-based character with a triad color scheme, i made the back of it have that gradient. the tatoba/traffic-light/analogous color pattern is repeated all over the suit in Ankh's canon design, and i did want to stick to that so he's still recognizable as the same character.

Speaking of sticking to canon, i actually think the chest piece and waist armor is the only thing i didn't majorly change. i simplified the color placement, but tbh that can be chocked up to the quick-and-dirty art style i did for this, i was mostly just feeling the design out. But i did include the gradients down the chest, again to break up the red. not sure if i like it if i'm 100% honest-- it doesn't quite line up the way i want. The only other thing i added here were the bird claw pauldrons, mostly to make him match Uva bc i LOVE Uva's weird bug leg pauldrons, and I love when design elements are repeated across different characters in unique ways. not sure if you can really see them under his fluffy feather cape, but oh well

I kept the thigh pieces fairly simple, omitting the green from the gradient as it's present on the loincloth-like piece just between them. For the kneepads, i repeated the flying bird motif on the iconic forearm armor, because it's such a fun element and is the first thing we see of Ankh, so i knew repeating it somewhere on the design was essential, even if it didnt match exactly. i see they did this on the canon design, but the shape was just too different to solidify it. it weirdly looks like a face? and again this isn't practical suit design-- i'm sure having kneepads in this shape would Not Work from a stunts standpoint.

Lastly, i don't have much to say about the shoepieces honestly? Aside from the fact that in Ankh's canon greeed form his bird claws more resemble owl feet. which. i guess isn't incorrect? they're still bird themed. just looks odd with the tropical bird everything else. So i just made them a bit daintier lol. kinda wish i'd kept the green painted nails tho, thats cute.

JJK: This one is hard cause I’ve been writing a lot for that fandom but I’ll just choose one semi randomly. Probably Love is in the hands cause I’ve been working on it since December. It deals with heavy themes but it’s also full of humour and tooth rotting fluff. The story is full of hope and unapologetically queer characters.

The inspiration comes from absolutely everywhere. For example, I added a storyline to Love is in the hands cause I wanted to mention a piece of classical music. I wrote a whole 10 chapter stsg fic cause my friend told me I had the vibe of a Witch. I just be writing shit tbh. I don’t care if it doesn’t make sense. Imma write it if it makes me happy.

Gary Mauer - Best voice ever. 10/10 would believe this man was an angel. Greg Mills - Looks like a cinnamon roll, will kill you. I never thought tongue action could be sexy but here we are. he does not <3 LMAO i think the only creature he actually cares about besides katsumi is neko, the 'cat priestess' of the shrine, whom he helps take care of as well as the rest of the cats living there. he feeds them, helps keep the shrine tidy, etc.

i think that the only 'tradition' he knows has been those of the shrine, after cleaning the place up and beginning to tend to it again was shrine rituals that were once religious, but are now just routine for eiji. i feel like he has done something akin to an obon festival in the summer, at first using it as a way to honor hibiki and the past inhabitants of the village by sending out okuribi in the form of paper lanterns over the water, but over the years he only lit one lantern and was unsure who it was for. i think that after katsumi stays, they do this together every summer and eiji teaches him about the festivals 🥺

eiji likes to sew his own clothing. his treat for himself is usually a trip into inazuma city (something he does probably no more than twice a year in fear of the shogunate) to ogura textiles to purchase some new fabric to sew himself a new haori or something. I love the whole thing with liveblogging for toku shows honestly. I know it's a thing in other spaces too but I never had the same level of interaction with others while doing it and it makes the experience of seeing a new show So much more fun tbh

People like older shows here! Stuff from the earlier series is still kept alive because people love and talk about it and I think that's cool

Overall it feels like people are way less afraid of being cringey for liking stuff in toku spaces (at least in my experience) and everyones just so Genuine in embracing the shows they love and it's made the whole space feel more welcoming as a whole

I looove seeing people adding suit eye motifs into characters civilian forms. I especially love it for Michinaga with the little orange X's from Buffa's suit and stuff similar to that.

This is where genshin and amant Katsumi differ. Genshin Katsumi's storyline is fine, but its really his relationships to others that shine. Eiji and Katsumi, the Traveller and Katsumi, Masuyo and Katsumi. His relationships are everything. As for Amant, his storyline is more set in stone and tangible. He's not just the Impure Discarded Daughter searching for reason. He still is, don't get me wrong. But the separation between him and Masuyo and the way their stories unfold together and apart grips me. i don't normally write posts like these with my thoughts but i've been Thinking since finishing LAD8:IW last night

i was SHELL SHOCKED when this happened. it is so believably in-character for kiryu to do and makes for a great additional surprise with how kiryu's baring his heart out to ebina. but god the way he drops is. it's got me sweating. sorry.

like why's he gotta cradle his head like that 😭😭😭 (yes i know why, it's for the emotional closeness and to hammer home his apology. but this shit is GAY)

and i loved the conclusion of eiji's arc, with ichiban carrying him to the police station after so lovingly urging him to turn himself in, while being harassed by The Haters, and how much it parallels masato's arc in 7 (without the obvious happening). i got misty eyed seeing eiji sobbing into ichiban's shoulder with trash flying by them...

tbh i was lost how eiji got to where he is, though. i thought he got shipped off to hawaii to represent bleach japan? so why's he back in japan looked rugged as hell? i was genuinely confused when he appeared on screen during chitose's last stream, like i was saying who tf is he

i think too much happened off-screen near the end, like yamai's arrest, the bullshit arc regarding wong tou's son, and wtf happened to ebina??? brushing ebina off with bryce and just saying "oh those two just disappeared from the public eye" confused me; after all the talk with ebina, and he gets lumped in with bryce's fate? i don't care what happens to bryce after the game, he's served his purpose as an evil monster that's been defeated. but cmon at least vaguely tell me what happens to ebina. and i wish we saw one last glimpse of chitose, like as the chairwoman or something.

and oh my god don't get me started on the ichiban/saeko fuckwad romcom--
