The oldest and largest Egyptian Museum in the world! An experience I don't regret! It was truly wonderful and educational! I wished I was more well rested and had more strength in me that day to truly immerse myself in it!
One of my favourite things of this trip! ❤️😍📸✨

Stele of Maya
In the upper portion, Maya and his wife Tamit pay homage to Osiris and Hathor, the gods of the necropolis.
In the lower register is a similar, corresponding scene in which Maya and his wife receive food offerings, in their turn, from their many children, in keeping with a principle of reciprocity that is often found in Egyptian religious thought.
The funerary stele of Maya, the “scribe off the outlines”, arrived in Turin with the Drovetti collection in 1824. It was possibly discovered near the funerary chapel where Ernesto Schiaparelli was to excavate roughly 80 years later.
New Kingdom, late 18th Dynasty, ca. 1353-1292 BC. Tomb Chapel of Maya (TT338), Deir el-Medina, Thebes. Now in the Egyptian Museum of Turin. S. 7910

The weighing of the heart, from the Book of the Dead of Aaner. A green Anubis kneels amidst the scales, holding the deceased's heart, which also appears on the scale's right-handed tray, with a little Maat goddess in the left tray. Plenty of offerings sit in front of Anubis. To the right, Aaner holds his eyes and his mouth (that is, the hieroglyphs which represent eye and mouth -- he still has an eye and a mouth in his face!).
When: Third Intermediate Period, 21st Dynasty
Where: Egyptian Museum, Turin

Stela of Neskhonsu
flickr
Neskhonsu offers to Ra-Horakhty and Osiris on her colourful stela. The stela's background is a yellow colour that suggests gold. Ra-Horakhty's body is green, his shoulders covered with white feathers with red and blue tips; Osiris' body is covered in the same feathers and his shoulders are draped with red. Neskhonsu wears linen so fine you can see her body outline through it.
When: Ptolemaic Egypt
Where: Egyptian Museum, Turin
