I think it's sort of understandable why Bachura seems to have become a lot more low key in the Neo Egoist League. Isagi's Ego is more focused towards becoming the best striker in the world, hence the focus on scoring goals further down the line.

Bachira, however, doesn't seem too focused on that. He seems to be searching for a higher play.

This scene with Luke really cemented for me how horrible he was. Nick never uses June’s suffering as a weapon, he just does what he can to alleviate it, whenever he can.

Luke wants some big come to Jesus moment of sorrow from June. It’s kinda sick honestly. Like yeah it’s crazy but it’s normal for her now, and he STILL wasn’t getting how serious the danger was. All he wanted to do was talk about how it made him feel.

Anyone who has suffered knows the worst thing is hearing people say that your suffering also made others suffer, which is basically what he’s saying to her here.

Yeah the situation is bad and sucks, you don’t need to point out the obvious?! Unreal.

Luke is the type of person I can’t stand, he’s a wallower, he does nothing but insists on feeling bad for himself and non stop explaining why this is an unfair scenario for them to be in. He’s all talk, no action, all bravado, no strength of character. It’s all about what it feels like to HIM, how crazy it is to HIM, how hard it is to see her locked up for HIM, and in the final season, see look at HIM you underestimated him.

Insufferable through and through, truly.

In comparison, Nick knows that June has suffered beyond what he can possibly imagine, and doesn’t need to provoke her wounds. He suffers but never says anything (other than the single time), he just acts. He hates what she goes through but knows that him bringing it up and pounding into her how terrible her situation is will only add fuel to the fire. Especially for someone like June, she needs action, words only make it worse for her.

I hate essentially everything Luke does to be honest, starting from his very first introduction. People use the holly thing as some gotcha card but like what was he going to do? I mean Emily basically dropped the kid on his doorstep. Forgive me for not finding that to be the pinnacle of manhood and sacrifice.

Nick’s motivation is always to help June, to make her feel better, less trapped, more calm. It has nothing to do with him, her seeing his achievements, or proving himself. He doesn’t give a fuck about any of that. Because he knows how serious this is.

Lukes motive is always to prove himself, show how useful he can be, be a ‘man’ as he so degradingly puts it.

I’d have so much more sympathy for Kakania if she wasn’t a therapist or overestimated herself so badly. Like I get she’s just a girl to the highest degree but also. So , so many of the problems stemmed from the fact that she decided that she wanted to treat mental health issues while not wanting to be certified. The biggest step in any new field or a new study is setting up your own ethos. Hell, it’s HALF of what Windsong’s character story was about. The lack of credibility and her entire degree and study being ripped from under her led to a total inability to be published or taken seriously. Even if Kakania had succeeded in helping Isolde gain control over her mental health (which she couldn’t have without hypnotism or sealing off her arcanum because the possession is a massive factor in her mental decline), what then? Sure people will have come to her and Kakania would get more patients. But she’s also have to deal with countless people coming to her then giving up immediately because they couldn’t fix her immediately or soothe them. The medical community surely wouldn’t give them any hope. They’d look at Isolde’s case or similar ones and simply call it a result of community support at best or a midwife’s cure at worst. They’d tear apart all of the flaws in her results that Kakania would inevitably have from her total lack of experience in a formal environment and completely discredit her. Kakania’s incident in the start of Book 6 showed that sexism is still very much alive, so on top of being an arcanist when even having arcane blood can lead to immediate disapproval from some, she’d have to deal with doubts purely based on her sex.

In any other field or state of life, you’re 100% the victim even if you accidentally encourage a person’s obsession when you don’t want it. Accidentally exasperating someone’s issues when it isn’t your intention and becoming a victim is never the victims fault. Unless you’re a therapist encouraging a patient to be dependent on you. If Kakania was certified the first thing she’d learn is to be aware of dependency issues because it would be something researchers have seen show physically: people getting dependent on substances or other people to alleviate mental struggles. Also the fact that the Freud study, while from- well from Freud, it would’ve had other people interested as well. The question of if the mind is separate from the brain and self has been going on for years. Is a person their brain? Are you the neurons firing in your head? Are you your thoughts and is your sense of self you? Does your body and physical form also count as apart of oneself? The theories Freud posed that the mind can be ill in more than a physical way would undoubtedly peak the interest of research groups. Even if they hadn’t, I’d Kakania had fought to become certified instead, then she could’ve gone on to start one.

food for thought; as a whole the fandom kinda assumes that Ego and Noa's relationship as younger players is gonna be similar to that of Kaiser and Isagi's current rivalry, with Kaiser/Noa being the physically gifted superstar and Isagi/Ego being the intelectually gifted underdog, obviously with the difference being that Isagi will succeed where Ego's football career (presumably) failed, and like this is assumed for good reason since Isagi is by far the character most explicitly and conistently paralled to Ego

HOWEVER

what if Ego and Noa's dynamic was more similar to that of Reo and Nagi's? what if thats part of why hes so obsessed with making one individualbe the self centered egoist that'll 'save' japanese football? what if Ego wanted to make Noa the best striker in the world and play alongside him, like Reo does with Nagi, but that didnt work out, and Ego ultimately failed as a pro due to stifling his own ego for Noa's sake, why is why hes so against teamwork and obsessed with the idea of individual egoism now, maybe his own failings to succeed as a duo with Noa in his youth made him so hypercritical of nagireo and their codependence now

*Pulls up a chair to the conversation twenty years late* No, I don't buy when people use how Light acted after he lost his memories as proof that the Death Note corrupted an innocent Light. You know what the difference between Light at the beginning and Light when he lost his memories is?

Light when he lost his memories had a Big Bad to fight.

Light at the beginning of the story is incredibly disaffected with the world, spurred into this mindset by his youth and powerlessness and his intellect and ego. He has no way to rid the world of evil and he believes that he's the only one who's seeing the injustices for what they are.

Light after he's lost his memories has a mysterious serial killer to hunt down. He is a highly valued member of the task force and working closely with the lead detective. He's fighting the injustices that he's sees upon the world, and he has the most powerful tools in the world to do so. He's completely unaware that he is only in this position because of his work as Kira, and therefore has not fully felt the depth of his own incredible powerlessness and disillusionment. Of course, he's can take the moral high ground of being against the killings.

But even in doing so, he himself recognizes that Kira has acted the way that he would've and has contemplated what it would've been like if he were Kira. He's aware that that side of him exists. He's just not aware of what it would take to bring it out of him.

I'd rather see another character getting focused on rather than getting back on seeing yet once again Isagi-Kaiser-Rin yapping insults to one another for one year on the pitch and watching Ness' dignity and well-being getting decimated on live television.

i know swifties are known for appreciating taylor’s lyrics, but i’m starting to wonder if the fandom has grown so large and her music so dense that a lot of people don’t understand what she’s saying at all. add the general trend of media illiteracy, the weird handwringing about whether her lyrics are autobiographical, and the increasingly popular view that you cannot see the author in the work, and a lot of people (largely not on here) are starting to have zero appreciation for the meaning of her lyrics beyond ‘this sounds pretty. that’s such a good metaphor!’ a lot of people are genuinely amazing at analyzing her music and post insightful takes, but the opposite is becoming prevalent as well imo.

Very fun situation here that could be parallel to what went on in AOE with Lockdown, with Tarn working with a group of humans to hunt autobots and decepticons alike. Especially considering Tarn's specific methods and protocol, and Tarn planning an inevitable betrayal (also see: TFP's plots with Airachnid working with MECH or Starscream working with MECH)

Fun conflict and dynamics here, especially when it becomes obvious that [human group]'s "lesser of two evils" deal has enabled the objectively greater evil in his goals

hello i recently finished isat (and promptly became fixated SO hard)(as one does) and can i just say your Mind. The way you write sifloop & isiloop has me by the throat, you nail the characters so well and their dynamics are so compelling!! (i didnt really have any questions, i just wanted to send you appreciation/kudos bc my friends and i have been losing our minds over your comics!!)

The only reason it feels so easy (to me) is because of the way the characters are just so well communicated in the game. such strong senses of voice that capturing them is just a matter of really observing it. So I'm always v happy to hear that my depictions feel 'accurate' (allowing for some give-or-take for silly shit to make punchlines land, of course, though jokes are always better in character too...) since that's my explicit goal :) i neeed to inflict other people with my extrapolated and synthesised reads of one of the most fucked up polycules of all time

One of my favorite things is when a character who sees a therapist have their therapy notes appear on screen, and I want to read Melanie’s old notes. Pre eyepocalypse and especially post eye severing.

I have a list of specific words that absolutely take me out every time I read or hear them, for no particular reason. The way they sound is simply funny to me.

Unfortunately, one of these words is "throttle". Every time the ending to CL is mentioned on my timeline, it becomes a war between my left brain going "hey this is a serious topic, don't laugh" and my right brain retorting with "yeah, but throttle".

Usually, the right brain wins. My apologies to Donnie. I work in weird ways.
