Struck with sudden need to explain airport codes
So, main thing to know is there are two sets of airport codes, IATA codes and ICAO codes. You probably know IATA codes. They have three letters and are the ones usually used by the public. Examples are LAX, JFK, LHR or PRG.
The others are not as well known. ICAO codes are four-lettered and are most often used inside of the aviation branch. The airports listed in the previou section have ICAO codes, in order, KLAX, KJFK, EGLL and LKPR.
Now, apart from the letter count, there are some more subtle differences between these two sets of codes. For example, you might come across the IATA code "LKPA" (Polička, Czechia) and wonder which IATA code that airport is assigned. So you do dome googling and boom! you find out that there is none. Another difference is IATA "super codes". For example, IATA code "LON" corresponds to six airports:
City - LCY - EGLC
Heathrow - LHR - EGLL
Gatwick - LGW - EGKK
Luton - LTN - EGGW
Stansted - STN - EGSS
Southend - SEN - EGMC
In general, unlike IATA codes, there is a one-to-one mapping between ICAO codes and airfields.
Also unlike IATA codes, ICAO codes contain geographical information. The first letter of the name is the region. These are big chunks of the globe, separated usually by country lines, In our examples above, K is the "Contiguous United States", E is "Northern Europe", and L is "Southern Europe, Cyprus, Israel, Palestine and Turkey" (although the only Palestinian airport ever to use this designation was destroyed by Israeli forces in 2001, during the Second Intifada). Interestingly enough, the region leter J is designated for... Mars. There is only one airfield under this letter, and that is JZRO - Jezero crater, recognised as an airfield in honor of the landing of the Ingenuity helicopter, the only aircraft to use it.
The second code is used for country indication. This way, you can look at LKPA and, given you have the knowledge of all the country letters, locate it in Czechia even though you have never heard of Polička before. EGLL? United Kingdom, Northern Europe, of course. "But wait," you may ask, "if KLAX and KJFK are in the same country, why do they have a different second letter?" That is a great question, and the answer is that some countries (most notably the US, China, Russia, Canada and Australia) are the default for their region, meaning that for example, if the ICAO code starts with Z, unless the second letter is M (Mongolia) or K (North Korea), the airport is in China. America, Canada and Australia have it extra easy, because thay are the only countries in their regions.
Let's now talk external territories. Gibraltar is part of the UK, so does the ICAO code of its airport begin with EG? No. Why? Because geographically, it is in the region of Southern Europe, Cyprus, Israel, Palestine and Turkey, and so it gets its own "country" code, LX. Similarly, Puerto Rico gets TJ instead of K, TF is for various French Caribbean islands, and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad shares the code of Belarus.
To understand why IATA seems to give less of a fuck about geography (and Polička Airport), we must understand the difference between the two organisations. IATA (International Air Traffic Association) is essentialy a trade association - it has airlines as members and is mostly concerned with commercial aviation. ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation), on the other hand, handles the practical aspects of aviation, ranging from security matters to standardising language used in pilot-ATC communications, and has state aviation administrations as members.
Therefore, it makes sense that only commercial airports would receive IATA codes, and that IATA codes don't encode geographical information. After all, you are not flying commercially to Polička (airtaxi doesn't count), and if you are looking for flights to LA, you know that you're going to America. This way, supercodes also make sense. If you're going to London, you probably don't care which London airport you are going to.
And, conversely, it makes sense that the ICAO codes are used in the industry, because you kinda wanna use something better than a random 3-letter combination for identifying airfields.

The airline has recently restarted it's QF 1/2 service between London and Sydney using the Dreamliner fleet rather than the A380 for now however due to the Pandemic situation the route is currently stopping in Darwin both ways rather than Singapore. #SYD #YSSY #LHR #EGLL #DRW #YPDN #Heathrow #B789 #B787 #QANTAS100 #SpecialLivery #MegaPlane #Airplane #PlaneLovers #Aviation4U #MegaShot (at Heathrow Airport) https://www.instagram.com/p/CWRHhMXLdg7/?utm_medium=tumblr

A benefit of being a Mana's Blue Rose Mansion Salon member is contests! Mana sometimes makes special videos for them. Like this one for members who bought the Moi-même-Moitié Burgundy Cross Candelabra Lace Comb. The contest is over, but Mana likes doing contests so I am sure there will be more.

Mana also mentioned on Twitter about wearing the ivory Paisley Bat Collar Blouse, and there are only a few left. I will agree, it’s really nice. The fabric is beautiful, in all the colors.
And just in case anyone was wanting buy from Wunderwelt-Fleur, they have a special Black Friday coupon. The code is in this image.
