Tweaked Mobian Metal’s design a lil

I wanted to make him wear more Eggman styled clothing, since this is still just Metal Sonic and he is very much involved in the Eggman Empire. He doesn’t quite have that stylistic expression that he has as Neo Metal Sonic, where his outfit represents his personality more than who he’s aligned with. So I made him a clone of his father, no uniqueness in his style, just a Sonic who works for Dr Eggman.

i will die on the hill that organic metal sonic would be human bc like. the idea of them being eggman's biokid is the funniest potential option. imagine screwing up your kid so bad they end up fucking kinning your arch nemesis.

Y'know, I should probably make an actual, not in-universe introduction to at least one of my Sonic AUs....

Well, get ready for a ramble! (Sorry in advance if I use too much color, I like color-coding names and such- LOL)

Too Little, Too Late! AU

This is a Sonic AU regarding one (not-so-simple) question:

What if Sonic worked for Eggman?

How would this change the world, and how would certain characters react?

Situated in Starlight City, a place run by the ever-looming Empire, this AU aims to answer all of these theoretical questions.

This AU has a few working names; Too Little, Too Late (TLTL) and Empire!AU, both of which have tags associated with them.

I tend to use Empire!AU as a shorthand for TLTL (Empire!Sonic, Empire!Amy, etc) though both names work.

Here's our main cast:

- Tails Scavenger the Fox

A genius fox who sticks to the shadows and has made it his life's goal to take down the Empire. He never had a Sonic when he was bullied; he just took it, and took it, and took it, hiding away one day, and never looking back.

- Project Cobalt Bullet

A secret project by Scavenger... The Empire has sustained minor losses of mechanical material when Enforcer Units are decommissioned, but no one knows why.

- Amy Rose

A kind-souled, young citizen who stumbled across a lone fox while she was walking one day. She wants to help him, but she isn't aware of everything Scavenger has done or plans to do.

- Sonic the Hedgehog

Key General to the Empire, and the strongest force in its army; he was taken by Ivo a long time ago, far before he knew what was right. He's the bane of Scavenger's existence.

- Ivo Robotnik

Sonic's boss and the running monarch over the Empire he established on the isles. He's the "father" of Sage, the city's AI guard, and the creator of everything Scavenger hates.

In my free time I like to world build things in my head and one that I have been having a bit of fun with is a Sonic AU where Eggman is less cartoonishly evil and leverages his 300 IQ to full effect while expanding on this belief of his where he thinks he could lead humanity into a golden age. One aspect I added to the AU was him already having his empire be an established nation state and his Eggmanland capital having already been built. I’m curious to explore just how much of a calculating threat he could be if he didn’t have his self-sabotaging and cartoonishly evil cruelty. I’d imagine this Eggman would sort of rule like how Bowser does but with more of a focus on efficiency. A technocratic absolute monarchy with a heavy investment in industrial capacity, automation, and weapon R&D. The military, government, resource extraction, construction, and bureaucracy are almost entirely automated. The Eggman Empire is home to Oil Ocean, with is largely responsible for funding the empire’s absurd mechanized military. The Eggman Empire is largely considered a pariah state by the world and is actively at war with the U.F. And the Acorn Kingdom, but its monopoly on the world’s largest oil reservoir forces the world to continue trading with them despite their aggressively imperialist foreign policy. This Eggman views his society as a machine, and his people as cogs in it. Because of this view and the necessity that machines get proper maintenance, the Eggman Empire ironically has some of the best single payer healthcare in the world, with cybernetics fixing a lot of physical and mental disabilities. Broken cogs do the machine no good after all, and it’s more frugal to fix a perfectly good cog than to discard it. Because of this frugality the nation also heavily recycles a lot of resources as well.

Is Metal-Sonic still kicking around after Eggman and Sonic’s death? If it is, I imagine it would have quite the crisis on what to do now that its purpose in life is technically fulfilled.
