aka The Black Canary
Black Canary. Two words Aviel never wished to see or hear again, especially within the comforting presence of her Unit Chief. Now, it's a fight against time as she and Carl deploy their Mordor program to track down who it is that is terrorizing the BAU and targeting their tech analyst.

Whumptober #20+Alt 2: Mashber
Mashber (breaking point): A crisis, birth, a wave
20: EMOTIONAL ANGST | Shoulder to Cry On | "It's not your fault." Alt 2: Communication Barrier
~
Janet's water breaks on July 18th, but her child doesn't come out until noon of the 19th. Part of her wonders hysterically if the child did it on purpose, knowing the date.
(She spends half her time bouncing on a big plastic ball, humming "Eyni Eyni Yorda Mayim". Part of her seriously considers naming the child Efrayim.)
Janet's child is seven weeks old when they welcome the new year, and despite it all she finds herself humming "Hayom Harat Olam".
At eight weeks old, she put her child to sleep with Un'tane Tokef.
At this point, she realises that her previous plans aren't going to work. Raising a rootless child is not a real option.
(There's an infantry version, a childish part in her that longs to pay it forward. The rhythm and melodies and every tradition she once swore to leave behind.)
And besides, she remembers bitterly, it's not like denying their heritage ever helped any of them.
~
Janet's child is five years old when they have This conversation. She is putting the final touches of her warpaint: eyeliner, sharp as a fresh Lulav. Her child is sitting on the bed, biting lips and serious.
"Mummy," her child asks. "Why did Mr. Smith say that you're a cake? "
Janet puts down her eyeliner.
"What do you mean, honey? Can you tell me exactly what happened?"
"Um," her darling child hesitates. "In the Chrismas party. At Caleb's parents? I finished- I said hi to everyone and. Umm. Caleb said they have sweets and he said I can't get the grown-ups cookies and I said I can and he said nu-uh and I said I do it. And there were a bunch of people stand by the cookies table and I couldn't go 'way and then they say mean things! They said that you're a cake and you killed someone and that dad only marry you 'couse you're escotic and-and-"
Jant's child is crying, and she closes her eyes and hate' for a second. Hate everything and everyone that got her kid to feel that way. That made her child feel hurt.
Janet takes a deep breath, and looks at her child. "some people lack the proper intellect to hide their small-minded brains. Don't let them know they got to you - but never forget who they are".
"But why they say you're a cake, mummy?" her kid isn't sobbing, but there's pain on the tiny faces. "I don't understand. You don't even like cake! you prefer biscuits 'cause they're smaller and less messy!"
(There's something pure and sweet in the innocence of childhood.)
And there are many things she can say. Many different ways to talk about hate and prejudice and decades of hurt and pain. There are many ways to talk about it, but she choses the way they always did it.
(She tells her child a story)
"well. Years ago, there were people who came from a distant land. And their clothes were different and their names and the way they spoke. Most of them didn't speak English when they came. And they were asked to write their names, they couldn't do it in the letters you know. The letters that the guards on the border wanted them."
"So why didn't the guards learn to read their language?"
"Because. Because sometimes, that's how people are. and so the weary people, the poor and tired who came from across the sea, were told to use an X."
"So they all signed with X?"
"No. Because, if you turn it over - the letter X looks like a symbol of the people that weren't kind to them. It looks like a symbol that, for many many years, was easy to rise and mark pain for their parents and kin. A mark that was a sign for hundreds and hundreds of years of pain."
"So they didn't use the X?"
"No. No, they didn't. They put down their name as a circle. a round shape, with no sharp edges to hurt others. And in their langauge, that shape was called Kayk. And ever since then, when some people try to be mean, they remind to this people and their kids where they come from: from the poor, weary people who came to a strange land - looking for a better life."
Mother's earrings are long, like teardrops. As the light breaks through, it almost looks like magic.
"And that's bad?" asks the child, still sitting on the bed.
"You should find your own thoughts," mother takes a second to point her soft brush. "What do you think? Is going far, far away, looking for a better chance in life, a bad thing?”
The kid's mouth opens, but the mother shushes them.
"No. Not yet. Don't answer me now. Think about it, and tell me about your thoughts when we'll be back from the gala."
And as she finishes the final touches, she can hear the child behind her take a deep breath.
"You said they call it to those people and their kids," the words are soft. "So why they calling you?"
And this is a long awaited conversation, one she can't have right now. So she take her child, her only-born, her loved one.
And as the weight of innocence is warm in her arms, she says, "because knowledge is power. And you will always be judged by things you can't - and shouldn't - change about yourself. Because small minded people are always out there. But at least you'll know the truth behind the words said."
"Is it the story of our family?" asks her too-clever child.
"Yes," she says. "And no. This is a story of Our People. This is a story of Our Kind. But this isn't the only one. Not even the most common. This isn't The Story of our family, but it's one of the stories of Us.”
~
Janet's child is only fourteen years old, and there are many things she regrets she never said:
(I'm sorry)
(I love you)
(I know)
(You are my child)
Janet is dying.
She is drunken, but not with wine;
And right in front of her: this cup of staggering; the beaker, this Kos Tre'la.
There are many things Janet wishes she told her child, and one she'll never regret:
"You are part of a long, brave dynasty. Never forget who you are. Never let anyone make you feel bad for who you are." (We shall outlive them)

Uzun bir yazı ama okumaya değer
Yusuf (A.S.) ile Zeliha'nın evlenmesi
İlk yedi yılın içinde olan, ne kadar hububat elde edildiyse, Yusuf (a.s.) eliyle anbarlarda, Hazret-i Yusuf'un dediği yolda saklandı. Ve anbarlara Yusuf (a.s.) kendi mührünü vurdu.
Haberde şöyle gelmiştir:
Hazret-i Yusuf, zindandan çıktıktan sonra iki yıl geçince, Zeliha'nın kocası ve Hazret-i Yusuf'un Efendisi olan Aziz-i Mısır öldü. Sultanın bütün malının defteri ve hesabı Hazreti Yusufça bilinmekteydi. Aslını da tamamiyle kaydetmişti. Bundan ötürü Sultan bütün hazinesini ona ısmarlamış, emanet etmişti. Yusuf (a.s.) Mısır Sultanının Hazinedarı olmuştu. Bu hal üzerine birkaç gün geçti. Birgün Sultan ona:
-Ey Yusuf! dedi. Şu doğruluğunu ki, sen efendin hakkında göstermiştin. Onun tuz ve ekmeğini gözettin. Evine hiyanet etmedin. Şimdi benim gönlüm şunu diliyor ki sen o hatunu helallik yolunda kabul edesin. Hazret-i Yusuf da Sultanın bu sözünü kabul etti. Sultan, adı Zeliha olan O kadını Hazret-i Yusuf'a verdi. Hz.
Zeliha, kendisini Hz. Yusuf'tan geri çekti, teslim olmadı. Ona:
-Ey Yusuf! dedi. Bana izin ver. Önce sana bir haberim var. Onu söyleyeyim. Hazret-i Yusuf da:
-Söyle ya Zeliha! dedi. Zeliha da:
-Ey Yusuf! dedi.
Yusuf (a.s.) bu sözleri işitince sevindi. Ta ömrü sona erinceye kadar Hz. Yusuf'la birlikte yıllar yaşadı. Hak Teala bütün peygamberlerin kadınlarını zinadan korumuş, saklamıştır. Kafir kadın da olsa zinaya meyletmemişlerdir. Onlar gibi hiçbir peygamber de günah işlememiştir. Hatta peygamberlik gelmeden önce de puta secde etmemişlerdir. Nasıl ki İbrahim (a.s.) çocuk iken, babası zorlar, onu puta secde ettiremezlerdi.
Yusuf (a.s.) Zeliha ile çok zaman yaşadı. Hazret-i Yusuf'un Zeliha'dan iki oğlu oldu. Birisinin adı Efrayim ötekinin adı Menşa idi. Yusuf (a.s.) Bütün Mısır ülkesini Hazret-i Yusuf'a emanet etti, ısmarladı. Gönlü Mısır ülkesine yapılacak her neyi dilese, Yusuf (a.s.)'a kimse engel olamazdı. Nitekim Hak Teala şöyle buyurmuştur: "Biz Mısır ilinde Hazret-i Yusuf'a o kadar güç verdik ki, O, ne dilerse onu yapardı. O bir işi nerede dilerse orada olurdu." "Biz rahmetimizi kime dilersek ona yetiştiririz. Ve biz, iyilerin iyiliğini ve ahiret mükafatını kaybettirmeyiz." (Yusuf suresi, ayet: 56)
Bir rivayete göre, Zeliha günahını itiraf edip Aziz-i Mısır kendisini boşamıştı. Çok kişiler onunla evlenmek istemişti. Fakat o kabul etmedi, varmadı, onlarla evlenmedi. O, Hazret-i Yusuf'un aşkından mest olmuştu. Tamam on sekiz yıl ağladı. Her kim Yusuf'tan haber verse, onun adını ansa o kişiye çok mal dağıtırdı. Ve Hazret-i Yusuf'un resmini duvara çizdirmişti. Daima ona bakar:
-Ey Yusuf! diye ağlardı.
O hale geldi ki gözleri görmez oldu. Beli de büküldü. Malı da kalmayarak yoksullaştı, fakir oldu. Bütün dostları ondan yüz çevirdiler. Bir gündü Hazret-i Yusuf gezintiye çıkmıştı.
Hz. Yusuf ona yaklaşınca Zeliha ona seslenip:
-Ey nefsine sabreden kişi! İnsan kul iken sultan olurmuş, sultan iken de kul olurmuş! dedi. Hazret-i Yusuf bu sözleri işitti:
-Şu söz söyleyeni sorun, kimdir? dedi ona:
-O, Zeliha'dır! dediler. Hazret-i Yusuf da atının başını çekti:
-Ey Zeliha! dedi.
Zeliha:
-Senin aşkından ötürü, işte böyle yoksul oldum! dedi. Hazret-i Yusuf :
-Ya gözlerine ne oldu? diye sordu. O da:
-Senin için ağladığımdan kör oldum! dedi.
Hz. Yusuf:
-Ya belin neden büküldü? dedi. Ve şu cevabı aldı:
-Senin derdinden büküldü?
-Ya malını neyledin?
-Senin aşkının yolunda üleştirip dağıttım! O zaman Hazret-i Yusuf:
-Senin hakkın bende çoktur! dedi. Dile benden ne dilersen? Zeliha da:
-Gözlerimi dilerim! Ta ki senin güzelliğine bakayım! dedi. Hazret-i Yusuf:
-Bunca zahmet içinde de aşkı unutmadın mı? diye sordu. O da:
-Kamçını bana ver! dedi. Hz. Yusuf da kamçısını Zeliha'ya verdi. Kadın bir kez:
-Ahhh! çekti. Kamçı bu ahtan ateş gibi oldu. Onu yine Hz. Yusuf'a geri verdi. O da elim yanmasın diye kamçıyı elinden attı. Zeliha:
-Ey Yusuf! dedi. Bunca yıldan beri ben kocamla bu ateşi, yüreğimde sakladım. Sen erliğin erkekliğinle niçin bir an için olsun tutamadın?
Yusuf (a.s.) bu halleri görünce içi yandı, özü tutuştu. Buyruk vererek Zeliha'yı saraya götürdüler. Cebrail (a.s.) geldi.
-Ey Yusuf! dedi. Hazret-i Yusuf da sordu.
Yusuf (a.s.) dua etti. Yusuf (a.s.) sonra Zeliha'yı nikahlayıp aldı. Daha önceden Müslüman olmuştu. Yusuf (a.s.) ona din, diyanet ve şeriat öğretti.

This, despite his sadistic tendencies. Which are hidden behind mellow words and treats. He has no reasons to be like this. Yet he is.

Calgary mortgage broker convicted in fraud scheme where stolen identities used to get illegal loans
Mortgage broker Kalim Khan was at the very least willfully blind to a fraud scheme which used stolen identities to get bogus loans, a Calgary judge ruled Wednesday.
Justice Scott Brooker convicted Kalim Khan of six charges, including fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud and money laundering.
The Court of Queen’s Bench judge said he didn’t believe Khan’s testimony he was unaware the transactions he was involved in with co-conspirators Giovanni Bartolotti and Linh Tran were illegal.
In one instance Khan cashed and distributed a stolen bank draft provided by Bartolotti, including keeping $4,500 for himself.
“I am satisfied that the Crown has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Khan was willfully blind to the source of the funds he had from Mr. Bartolotti,” Brooker said.
He was charged along with Bartolotti and Tran in 2016, in connection with a mortgage and vehicle fraud scheme in which victims were bilked of more than $1 million.
Bartolotti was sentenced to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy in connection with a fraud scheme which ran from September 2013 to December 2014.
Tran pleaded guilty to the same charge and is scheduled to face a sentencing hearing on Thursday.
At defence lawyer Efrayim Moldofsky’s request, Brooker ordered a pre-sentence report be prepared on Khan’s background.
But Brooker, who officially retires at the end of May, said if the report is not ready by a scheduled May 22 sentencing date then the hearing will proceed without it.
“I’m really reluctant to hoist this on somebody else,” he said of handing the sentencing hearing over to another judge.
Crown prosecutor Steven Johnston said under normal circumstances he would have asked that Khan’s bail be revoked, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic he consented to his continued release.

Canto de David[74]
א Levanto mi alma a ti, O YAHWEH;
ב 2 yo he confiado en ti, O mi Elohim.[75]
No sea yo condenado,
ג 3 Nadie que espera en ti será avergonzado;
ד 4 Hazme conocer tus caminos, O YAHWEH,
enséñame tus sendas.[76]
ה 5 Guíame en tu verdad,[77]
y enséñame;
ו 6 Recuerda tus compasiones, O YAHWEH;
ni mis pecados [en ignorancia];
sino recuérdame de acuerdo a tu misericordia,
por amor a tu bondad, O YAHWEH.
ח 8 YAHWEH es bueno, El es justo;
significa «estar firme, permanecer y establecido».

Okay yes but no (addition to tags)
Judaism:
Jews are called Jews in english (and some other languages) bc it comes from "Judaism" which come from "Judea" aka Mamlechet Yehudah (Kingdom of Judea), the southern kingdom during the 2 kingdoms era, and the last Hebrew kingdom to fall. That what we were named by the Romans -
But not only. You can see it since the first exile.
In the Book of Esther, with Mordechai ("Mordechai ben Shim'i ben Kish... Ish Yemini" (from the tribe of Binyamin). But also "Mordechai Ha'Yehudi" - which implies it refers to the place he was exiled from (Yehuda).
Isralites:
Usually used to refer to people from the united Kingdom of Israel, or from the northern kingdom during the 2 kingdoms era.
Also if we refer to "children of Yisrael" - not completely correlated with either "jews" or "children of Yehuda"
1. Even though every child of a Jewish woman is Jewish, our lost brothers are still out there 😔. Also children of Jewish fathers and Goy moms, especially in older ages. Still sons of Yehuda.
2. Hi, I'm from the tribe of Levi, we exist??? Also there are Bney Efrayim & Menashe???.

original character: aviel efrayim
Commissioned Art: 🦋 by @nerdferatum . Thanks so much for bringing this scene of these two finally succumbing to their feelings. Let’s be honest their fake relationship was far more real then they cared to admit.
In that moment, Aviel knew she was a goner. Her ability to squash her growing emotional ties to the brunet, wavered. Jake loved her unequivocally. He was patient with her. He knew voicing her feelings wasn't her strong suit. So, when her greetings turned to I-miss-yous, she knew her heart was giving way. The idea should have frightened her, but instead she smiled because his eyes told her everything she needed to know. Jake would always be there, to hold her, to love her— to be her Jake. To be hers.

Joseph for Ford and Jacob for Stan are also great choices! I considered those and other names for the older twins too.
Alternative Hebrew Names
The Hebrew names I considered for the older twins are the following:
Ford:
Yosef/Joseph (“May G-d add”)
Yonah/Jonah (“dove”)
Shlomo/Solomon (“G-d gives peace”)
Aharon/Aaron (“light, teaching, enlightening”)
Efrayim/Ephraim (“fruitful”)
David (“friend/beloved”)
Yehoshua/Joshua (“G-d will save”)
Stanley:
Ya’akov/Jacob (“holder of the heel”)
Yehudah/Judah (“thank G-d”)
Gad (“fortune, success, troop”)
Yisrael/Israel (“one who wrestles or contends with G-d”)
Reuven/Reuben (“See son”)
Menashe/Menasseh (“to make forget”)
Calev/Caleb (“all heart”)
Naftali (“I bonded, I prayed, I stubbornly pleaded”)
However, I ultimately decided on the names above (Stanley: Sh’aul and Ford: Sh’muel) because of the double alliteration bonus and the thematic resonances combined with the portal/Witch of Endor parallel that I don’t see with the other names except for the Joseph/Judah story.
And even with that one, it’s shakier because Judah offered himself up to take Benjamin’s place. But the family never exactly set out a search team for Joseph. In contrast, Stanley devotes 30 years to bringing Stanford back.
Also the names above allow me to add a third Hebrew name to the mix:
Shermie: Shlomo
Additional bonus:
Stanley, Stanford, and Shermie’s names all come from the “Nach” portion of Tanakh who appear in Haftarot portions. The blessing before the Haftarah is read in a minor key as is the Haftarah narrative itself in contrast to the Torah and its blessings chanted in a major key. Minor keys are often associated with a dark element compared to the lightness of major key with minor key often but not always being associated with sad songs.
this is purely headcanon but knowing the pines twins are jewish, i would like to posit that their hebrew names are miriam for mabel and moshe for dipper (mason)
not only is it double alliteration (miriam/mabel, moshe/mason), but miriam and moshe (moses) are siblings in exodus
