What "scars" means for Astarion is obvious, but for my Tav it's her face scar and lightning scars on her legs, which she got as a young girl, during the lightning storm that awakened her powers as a storm sorcerer. And it represented the beginning of her servitude to the smuggler's ship she grew up on.

Emotionally for both, it's also the building of trust, willingness to be vulnerable, and to not let things and people of their past dictate their future.

The story written in their scars was not the story they were told to believe...it was something much, much greater.

"Well, congratu-fucking-lations," He cussed under his breath, his gaze shifting back out towards the window as his fingers curled into fists despite himself. He was trying to help, Seo-Joon reminded himself and, yet, as much as he wanted to give Efe the benefit of the doubt, the voice in the back of his head couldn't help, but think that Efe would never truly get it. He'd never fully understand how much it fucking sucked to have everyone he knew tiptoe around him on eggshells, treating him like some fragile thing about break, when the truth was right there in front of them- he had shattered months ago, tied up in that godforsaken cabin less than a mile out of town, and any semblance of sympathy now seemed less about a concern for him and more a way to appease their own guilt. "I'm not arguing with you," He finally said after a moment of silence. He just wasn't sure if Efe knew who was anymore. He wasn't sure if he even did, not that he'd vocalize it out loud.

But, at the mention of needing the staff's sign off, he stiffed back a scoff. "I'm fine," He reiterated as he moved to stand up. While he was all too familiar with hospital protocol, he also knew all too well that no one here would try to stop him if he up and walked out. Nepotism at its finest. "Let's go," He motioned with a tilt of his head towards the door. The corner of his lips tilting up ever so slightly as Efe told him he was fine as hell. "Now was that so hard?" He mused. The flirting was nice. A well needed sense of reprieve, but as quickly as the break in the tension came, it left the moment Efe admitted what he had believed had happened for all those months. "I know."

"She texted my family as me. Would," His jaw tightened. Wincing slightly as he dug his fingernails deep into the palm of his hand as he attempted to get the words out, "Make me dictate how I would say it." He tried to leave hints. Say it in a way that would unnatural for him, hoping that his family might be able to pick up on it, but if he had made it too obvious, she would have killed him and then what? "You weren't the only one, okay? So stop holding it against yourself."

"You," He shook his head the smallest bit back and forth as he glance back to meet the other man's gaze. "You really are quite the distraction, Efetobo," He whispered softly out, though the look in his eyes made it all to clear a 'but' was coming. "But, on second thought, I... I don't think can tonight." It wouldn't be fair to him. So, he muttered out a "sorry", before he slipped away, disappearing down the hall.

Efe grimaced. "I mean, I already got what I want. You're here and getting help, so...But alright. Heard. I'll drop it," he replied, giving a weak shrug of his shoulders. He did not want to push the other too strongly, but at the same time, he had always been an overly insistent helper. This character trait was one that had led him to his current vocation, and in truth, even he was aware he was griping in search of a way to maintain some semblance of control over the situation. "You matter to me. Can't argue with that. It's my opinion," he murmured, knitting his brow. And falling silent for a beat, he brought up his arms to hug himself, wishing he could cut some of the strange tension blanketing the room and the town beyond it in fog.

"Soon as you get the okay," he said. "That's a question for the staff, not me." Rolling his eyes, then, Efe allowed a flustered expression to play over his face before tucking it quickly back out of sight. He cleared his throat. "You know what I mean." Leaning in close again, he met Song's eye. "Fine. You're damn sexy. Fine as hell." The setting, the circumstances, and the proximity of his family members was making flirting difficult. But he tried. Efe let out a sigh. "I thought you ghosted me. I thought we were vibing and that you just didn't...want to do it anymore. Which, look, I broke up with my ex over video call. I probably would have had it coming. But I just...I was really mad at you and kind of coming off a weird rebound. And I didn't know you weren't okay. " He grit his teeth, leaning back in his chair. "Yeah, I'm sure. Let's just be distractions tonight. If that works for you? I'll be whatever you want me to be."

Cocking his head to one side, Efe raised a tired eyebrow. "I don't think I've ever smirked in my life, Seo-Joon. Smile, sure. But smirk? I'm not going to shut you down or anything. But, like, the offer stands. If you want it. Or if you don't, then don't...but I will, like, legally probably have to come by once your operating, so." He smiled, bringing up an arm. "Think about what? I don't know what you're talking about. I'm just a distraction. A good-looking distraction with killer biceps."

Ship status: Excellent Standing. At first, romping around with Astarion is just good fun. Efenity knew enough about vampires to know not to trust him. Moreover, her own issues with letting herself get close to people and fearing she will ruin and lose them (and vice versa) allowed her to keep him at a safe distance from her heart. Until she couldn't. She tried her best to not fall in love with him, but once he had confessed his own failure to do the same with her, the fight against it was pointless. She realized she cared about him more than she cared about even herself. Which was new, for her.
