The gospel music industry is thrown into mourning as its fast-rising star Aduke Ajayi, popularly known as Aduke Gold, is reportedly dead. The news of her demise was announced via social media on Tuesday by another popular gospel artiste, Esther Igbeke, who wrote a tribute with Aduke Gold's picture saying, "A general has fallen. RIP.". Her death came a few weeks after another popular gospel singer, Egbin Orun, passed away on April 28, 2024. Esther Igbekele, also a close colleague, took to her Instagram page to confirm Orun's passing. The competitive world of the gospel music industry notwithstanding, Aduke Gold had been able to make big impacts. Her soul-lifting songs and passion for her gift helped to give her a growing fanbase and popularity. Her breakout single, "Nitori 0go", which literally means "Because of Glory" in Yoruba, off her eight-track album, was at a time raving on social media. Aduke Gold had once taken to her Instagram page to share her story of grass-to-grace. She shared how she used to sell slippers, yam, and fried fish in early days and battled through hardship, through which these struggles influenced her music career. She revealed she had once packed fish heads at a frozen foods store and learned to cook with firewood when there was a shortage of kerosene. She also spoke about her personal struggles, being an orphan at four years and suffering from serious vertigo. Academic Background of Aduke Gold. Aduke's academic success was just as great as her musical career. She also bagged a degree in History and International Relations from the Lagos State University, which was made possible due to scholarship assistance from the then Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Lagos State, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele. Aduke also had a higher degree in the field of Child Psychology, a Diploma in Montessori Education from the UK, and numerable other qualifications in the areas of Special Education, Aquaculture, Cake Making, Cookery and Decoration, Music Rudiment, Business, and Piano. In fact, her passion extended into music, but mostly in working with children who have special needs like autism, cerebral palsy, and dyslexia. Recommended Links. Please bring the contents of this internal circular to the attention of staff in your respective Departments and Units for their information and proper guidance,” the circular reads. However, no explanation was provided for the withdrawal of the plan, which certainly will leave many civil servants who had registered for the subsidised rice in a state of uncertainty.A graphic designer turned into an immensely creative journalist committed to high-quality research and writing.
