I read once a fanfiction that took place in japan and there was a villain character that started to speak about "woke snowflake liberals" and "cancel culture" and got level 100 whiplash

I've noticed people who writes those political rants hidden under the thinnest layer of fanfic veneer, and it's honestly some of the cringiest shit ever. It's not even well written. Do people not realize just how awkward and virtue signalling it comes across? It's really just kinda cheap. Do they realize that if they just wrote an actual essay and posted it on socmeds it at least could feel like they were trying to say something? On fanfic sites seeing these types of "fics" just feels like someone really wanted extra ass pats and brownie points, because they want to be special.
