Because, in the end, you're my sister and one day, only we will remember Sybil... or Mama or Papa or Matthew or Michael or Granny or Carson or any of the others who have peopled our youth... until, at last, our shared memories will mean more than our mutual dislike.

Rewatching the first ep of downton abbey before I start the final season and there was soooo much that I missed. The little seeds planets so early on between Anna and Mr. Bates. The great introduction to literally every person but specifically everyone upstairs and also a great introduction into all of the important relationships and the main plots.
Like I’m sure that none of this is new information but it’s just all stuff that I spotted just like half way through the episode.

For the drabbles, Cora and Edith and regret. 🥰
Ah! This one was a doozy of a prompt for only 100 words! I’m not at all satisfied with this, but here, darling:
-//-//-//-//-// — REGRET — //-//-//-//-//-
Lying against her pillows, Edith smiled at her mother and daughter who gazed upon the newborn.
“Hello, Peter,” Mama cooed. Edith watched Mama hug Marigold, then peer at her. “I’m so happy to be here. Thank you, darling.”
“Of course,” she whispered, but the warmth she felt was replaced by something else: regret.
How different would life have been if she’d had her mother’s hand to hold before? How different, if she’d known Mama would be the one to give her a choice?
Her mother let the baby wrap his tiny fingers around her forefinger, and Edith knew the answer.

currently thinking about what mary and edith's relationship would evolve into after having buried the hatchet. like obviously i don't think they'll be super besties but maybe it kind of evolves into sort of a mild snarky relationship. polite, maybe not close but definitely more civil. idk, just my thoughts.

Why does this song give me the biggest Downton Abbey vibes?
Edith: I can't break the cycle, am I just a fool? Edith: Falling down like dominoes, hit by family jewels Mary: Pass it down from kid to kid, the chain will never end Mary: 'Less I decide to go to it, will I see the end?
Edith: Ooh, don't you find it strange? Mary: Only thing we share is one last name
O'Brien: Did I beat you at your own game? Thomas: Typical of me to put us all to shame
Sybil: Welcome to the family jewels Mary: Coal to diamond, sold to fools Rosamund: Welcome to the family jewels Robert: Simmerin' sapphire can't keep his cool I can't keep my cool I can't keep my cool
Thomas: Family said that I decided to live a loveless life Thomas: Is it my fault we stay divided? 'Cause I got too much pride Phyllis: Pass the parcel, wrap, unwrap, and open up the locks Phyllis: Out come flying all the secrets of Pandora's box
Daisy: Oh, you think I'm unfit Daisy: Little did you know that I was cut for it Mrs Hughes: No glass slipper will ever fit Mrs Hughes: 'Cause I could never see a diamond in it
Carson: Welcome to the family jewels Thomas: Coal to diamond, sold to fools Phyllis: Welcome to the family jewels Thomas: Simmerin' sapphire can't keep his cool I can't keep my cool I can't keep my cool
Song: Family Jewels
Artist: Marina
