The Roy, Aileen, Ailbhe situation is so funny. Aileen was raising Roy's baby for YEARS, and Ailbhe never even told her that she slept with Roy BEFORE THE DIVORCE PAPERWORK EVEN WENT THROUGH. It's so funny, I don't think Aileen had even left Canada yet. Like Ailbhe definitely realized at some point that her ex-fwb, MUIREANN'S BIOLOGICAL FATHER was Aileen's ex-husband, and she didn't even mention it. Diabolical honestly.

[WIP] Music (it's not) Monday (anymore)
Thank you @simplegenius042 for tagging me in this week's post! Sorry for the delay, but this is one of my favorite tags so I'm still gonna post it 🥰 Using songs from 2 of the bands I got to see this week because they gave me allllll the motivation and I've been writing more than I have in a long time!
Afflicted.
Help me if you can It's just that this Is not the way I'm wired, so
Could you please Help me understand why You've given in to all these Reckless dark desires, you're
Lying to yourself again Suicidal imbecile Think about it, you're pounding on a fault line What'll it take to get it through to you precious I'm over this, why do you wanna throw it away like this? Such a mess, why would I want to watch you?
They were right about you They were right about you
Lying to my face again Suicidal imbecile Think about it, you're pounding on the fault line What'll it take to get it through to you, precious? I'm over this, why do you wanna throw it away like this Such a mess Over this, over this
Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet at a time What's your hurry, everyone will have his day to die If you choose to pull the trigger, should your drama prove sincere Do it somewhere far away from here
Parenesis.
Lost as I may be In the fog of my own noise and triviality Grand Holy Mother, grant me clarity I am standing on the edge of forever, forever
One among infinity Witnessing the majesty Calm in this humility Witnessing the majesty Hope as far as one can see Witnessing the majesty Witnessing the majesty Witnessing the majesty
Blessed that be in This reawakening Grand Holy Mother and my deadly slumber To stand fearless from the edge of forever, forever
Hope Hope as far As one can see As one can see Hope (hope, hope, hope) Hope as far
As one can see (hope, hope, hope) As one can see Hope Hope as far As one can see As one can see
Untitled(shared) Johnny WIP.
Run desire, run, sexual being Run him like a blade to and through the heart No conscience, one motive To cater to the hollow
Screaming feed me here Fill me up again And temporarily pacify this hungering
So grow, libido, throw Dominoes of indiscretions down Falling all around, in cycles, in circles Constantly consuming Conquer and devour
'Cause it's time to bring the fire down Bridle all this indiscretion Long enough to edify And permanently fill this hollow
Tagging with apologies for doubles and no pressure! @wrathfulrook, @socially-awkward-skeleton, @trench-rot, @ladyoriza, @cassietrn

for the @dreamlingbingo
Square/Prompt: C1- Civil War
Title:
Rating: G
Ship(s): Dream of the Endless/Hob Gadling
Warnings: n/a
Additional Tags: enjoyment of period dramas, look Rufus Sewell is a fine looking man and I can't be convinced otherwise.
Hob and Dream are watching The Power and the Passion (lucky them, wish I was)
“I didn’t think they’d do it, y’know?” Hob says, leaning back on the couch and folding his arms across his chest.
Dream, feet tucked up and chin resting upon his bent knees, turns his attention momentarily away from the screen to give Hob an inquiring look.
“Chop his dad’s head off,” Hob elaborated, nodding at the TV where an episode of an early 2000s miniseries is currently playing. It is about King Charles II- The Power and the Passion- and they’re watching it partly because Dream has displayed an unreasonable interest in and enjoyment of period dramas, but mainly because- well: Rufus Sewell.  “King Charles I, I mean,” Hob adds, as if Dream could not have guessed who he was talking about.
“I don’t believe he thought they would, either,” Dream says, turning his eyes back to the TV where the powerful king Charles seems to be enjoying a moment of passion with his mistress. The series wasn’t particularly edifying (especially to someone who lived through the era) but it was accurately named and quite fun at least. “He was a strong dreamer. I remember him well. Those who have strong convictions in the Waking often carry it over into the Dreaming; and Charles help full conviction in his indisputable right to rule; his diving right.”
“Bloody hell, I bet old Cromwell had a strong Dreaming presence then,” Hob chuckles, thinking of the dour and resolute leader of the Parliamentarians.
Dream considers this, tilting his head slightly in thought. “Yes,” he agrees eventually. “But his dreams were often tortured. Conflicted. His faith her never wavering but his part in executing the king was a source of struggle for him.” Dream paused for a second. “I realise I have never asked: were you a Parliamentarian, Hob?”
“Nah, loyalist through an’ through, me,” Hob says seriously, then grins at Dream’s expressively raised eyebrow. His friend could say a lot with an eyebrow. “Look, His Majesty’s men picked me up first, is all. A warm meal and a place to sleep? Crikey, I would have been anyone’s. Not like I cared much for the machinations of the elite at that time, or the finer points of the divine right of kings  verus parliament wanting its say an’ all that. It was all much of a muchness when you’re starving.” He hums thoughtfully the gestures back to the screen. “That Charlie though, the country was glad to see him back, I think. I saw his coronation procession, y’know? I had fallen into a bit of work at that time, even had a roof over my head! It felt hopeful, even to me. Didn’t last of course,” he says equably, “but for a moment, things looked brighter: I saw a king return and,.. I still believed in kings then.”
“And what was your impression of him?” Dream asks quietly, face still turned to the screen but attention all on Hob. “Of Charles?”
“Well, he was no Rufus Sewell, that’s for sure, but he certainly knew how to have fun.”

Judging from the quality and content in my DMs…
Y’all must not know about me-so let me introduce myself.
I hate being inside when it’s nice outside
I hate being outside
When the people are all there
I don’t want to hear about your baby mama drama
I do want to hear your wildest dreams
I hate angry political rants
I love poetry and wisdom bites
I hate woman haters
Man haters
Race baiters
I love tree huggers
Water lovers
Life affirming
Soul glowers
I hate gossip and vice glorifying
I love warm hugs
And Toasty cocoa
Cats, sunsets
And all kinds of laughter -
Little giggles,
Obnoxious guffaws..
Cackling and even snickers.
I love anyone who will bring laughter to me.
Really,
I love anyone who will let me.
But I mean that in an edifying way-
I am not a sexually performative pony
In the circus of man v woman.
I am
Not a conquest or a set of body parts.
I am not a willing participant in the patriarchy
I am
Not worried about catering to the male gaze,
Or convincing you that I am interesting-
I am interesting.
I am a supportive bolster on your hardest and best days
I am a cheerleader and a feisty defense
A gentle Warrior
a fiery lullaby
I’m a siren and a lilting country song.
I’m my own person
And a thread on the web of it all.
I am here-always.
Present.
Good or bad.
I feel it all.
I’m not interested in anything that doesn’t add to the good and take away from the bad.
The first step to growth
Is accountability.
Stop
Blaming and shaming. Start growing and glowing.
Be here.
Not here with me-
But here with yourself,
Here with this moment in time in the big beautiful universe.
Be singular
Be Exceptional
Be

KIN: I also watched the 2021 first season of this gloomy Irish crime drama from RTÉ and AMC. It stars Clare Dunne, who's marvelous, and also has Ciarán Hinds, whom I'm always happy to see. Unfortunately, the show also forces me to look at Charlie Cox, whom I can't stand, and prominently features Aidan Gillen, playing an even more insufferable character than his usual, which is saying something; I can't say I was any too fond of Emmett Scanlan and his scraggly B.O. Plenty beard, either. The plot is an agglomeration of gloomy crime drama cliches too dull to be worth summarizing, executed competently but without a single moment of notable dramatic spark. I like Clare Dunne a lot, but her earlier stage roles in Phyllida Lloyd's all-female Shakespeare trilogy (in particular HENRY IV, where Dunne played Prince Hal as a kind of semiferal lesbian fuckboy) are far more edifying, and I'm not sure she's enough to make me want to sit through the second season.

Hello, I have noticed you posting a lot recently about being annoyed or upset by what people are saying on this here hellsite. I just wanted to check that you have done all the obvious things - blocked people, unfollowed anyone who gets involved in a lot of drama so you don't have to see it on your dash, filtered all the appropriate tags. It just seems like you are having a hard time of it recently.
I know you are a veteran, so I probably don't even need to say it really. I was just asking in case you were not doing these things because you are being nice.
aww, anon, this is very sweet of you! I am absolutely doing those things on a pretty intense basis, though sometimes I am bad and click through filtered tags when I probably shouldn't, but that's a me problem.
I think what you're picking up on is either that I've been in a worse mood lately (which makes me less tolerant and more irritable across the board, and therefore more prone to complain out loud, as it were) or things have actually been worse (you can only block what you see as you see it, after all, and sometimes discourse goes in cycles). maybe a little of both.
the thing about me is that I have a lot of annoyance in me, I get annoyed by all kinds of things, I actually have a pretty low tolerance for Things That Irritate Me On the Internet and a long list of what those things are. it's just most of the time I don't actually post the complaints about it; the odds that I say something on my blog goes up with (a) how well I'm tolerating shit in general and (b) the odds that somebody might find my way of expressing my irritation entertaining or edifying.
honestly I feel kind of bad, I hope this blog hasn't' been Complaints Central lately, that's not actually what I want. generally speaking I prefer to keep the lion's share of my bitchy opinions either to myself or to specific friends.
just sometimes I think I'm funny.
but yeah, anon, don't worry, I'm very good at blocking people and filtering tags and unfollowing when the vibes feel bad, I've been around on the internet too long at this point to do anything else.

SYNOPSIS

Tumblr media
This series was inspired by GOD HIMSELF , my personal life , my own spiritual experience , and journey of self. The people , places , and events that occur are loosely based from things I have witnessed or partook in; or are inspired by the lives of those whom surround me in which I love dearly. I wrote this series to have conversations about those uncomfortable and controversial topics , in hopes of bringing darkness to the light so that people can heal their hidden traumas. I’d kindly advise you NOT to steal any of my work as it is protected legally binding underneath Copyright Law with THE ARTIVERSE PRODUCTIONS and Wattpad Corp. — Artist the Author

MADE THEM BLUE
Has anyone ever heard of the saying ,
‘FATE HAS A FUNNY WAY OF WORKING ITS SELF OUT?’
On the dreary morning of October 14th , 1999 , sixteen year old Prodigy of The Arts , Goapele Scott was officially declared missing fourty-eighty hours after she was nowhere to be found within her self acclaimed hometown of Macabre , Georgia. Sources say that she was last spotted in a heated disagreement with longtime family friend Georgia State University's Star Basketball Player seventeen year old Xodus Casanova.
The two not only knew each other very well , but also allegedly concocted a plan to run away together which led authorities to believe that the Elite Division I Power Forward had involvement in Goapele's disappearance-however , that could not be any further from the case. Twenty long years , never ending pain , severe strife , and many tears later she mysteriously returns opening Pandora's box.
Two worlds collide after demons from their pasts force them both into a whirlwind of mayhem. Goapele and Xodus were two traumatized souls , but by the power of truth , God made them BLUE.
The question is , WILL THEY SURVIVE LONG ENOUGH TO WATCH IT COME INTO FRUITION ?

Hello my favorite heauxs!—and to those of you who don’t already know me I hope you’re enjoying your experience in the Artiverse. I want to start off by saying that my name is Artist Oriental , and I’m just an anomalous child of The Most High here baring gifts and fruits to give to the collective. For the past decade and a half I have been perfecting the craft of storytelling , and I’m at a point in my practice where I’m focused on broadening my horizons and expanding the audience I’ve been blessed to entertain and edify. From filling up notebooks all day long in class to hundreds and thousands of reads on Wattpad , my love for the art of literacy has never faded. Throughout the years I’ve been a breathing witness to the evolution of Artist as a person , creator , and soul—and may I say she’s come a mighty long way. As I grow older and enter my quarter century milestone , I find more and more that my work is often a reflection of my peculiar perception with the perfect blend of my eccentric imagination. With that being said; GOD WILL BE PRESENT IN ALL OF ARTIST THE AUTHOR’S CONTENT. I will not denounce the reality that I know to be true , experience , and choose to express. If that is unsettling for you my world may not be tailored to your liking , therefore feel free to roam at YOUR OWN DISCRETION. You can expect that the majority of work coming from me is more than likely to have some sort of spiritual aspect in it. There will also be lots of poetic vibes and a great deal of strong adult themes that usually hold HEAVY CONTROVERSY. At times my writing can get crude and dark , I tend to hound in on the gruesome details because I want readers to feel every raw emotion , but don’t be alarmed you’ll always be forewarned. Within The World of Artist have the opportunity to find all types of experiences from different genres like Urban Fiction all the way to Sci-Fi , so it’ll be hard not to get immersed. I chose this series as my debut piece because of how much it means to me at a soul level , and it further exhibits the growth I’ve had since deciding to master the element of literature. It’s also in hindsight my first ever official screenwriting piece which makes me all the more excited as I am intimated. Please take your time trekking through the universe I’ve created , and know that when you’re here things normally are vague and obscure at a first glance; sometimes it may feel a bit riddling to latch onto—but I promise you all there is a method to my madman ways. I’m gonna finish off with saying a big thank you to GOD for invoking divine favor upon everything that I am , Nothing would exist to be if it weren’t for my Guide and I’m standing under that irrefutable truth. All praise goes to The Most High , forever and ever. Remember that everything you need or desire is already within you; Create the World that’s Yours. Until next time my little Jezebels , be the influence not the influenced. — Artist the Author

10. 'Matlock' (CBS)
Sonja Flemming/CBS
You can never go wrong with old people solving mysteries. But this clever reinvention of the classic Andy Griffith series is more than comfort TV — it’s a procedural with a soul. Developed by showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman (Jane the Virgin), Matlock stars Kathy Bates as Madeline Kingston, a retired lawyer who goes undercover at the New York City law firm she believes had a hand in her daughter’s death from an opioid overdose. Bates, in full Southern grandma mode, is unsurprisingly delightful, and her comedic chemistry with co-star Skye P. Marshall (as Madeline’s boss, Olympia) gets better with each passing episode. Blending satisfying “justice for the little guy” cases and relatable human drama — like fraught family dynamics, the myth of work-life balance, and the unpredictability of grief — Matlock is both soothing and edifying. Plus, any series that gives us a weekly dose of Jason Ritter (as Olympia’s colleague/ex-husband, Julian) deserves to be celebrated.

big man fran fran hits it out of the park again (just got published on .va today)
Readers in some sense rewrite a text, enlarging its scope through their imagination, creating a whole world by bringing into play their skills, their memory, their dreams and their personal history, with all its drama and symbolism. In this way, what emerges is a text quite different from the one the author intended to write. A literary work is thus a living and ever-fruitful text, always capable of speaking in different ways and producing an original synthesis on the part of each of its readers.
This is a definition of literature that I like very much: listening to another person’s voice. We must never forget how dangerous it is to stop listening to the voice of other people when they challenge us!
It is clear, then, that the reader is not simply the recipient of an edifying message, but a person challenged to press forward on a shifting terrain where the boundaries between salvation and perdition are not a priori obvious and distinct. Reading, as an act of “discernment”, directly involves the reader as both the “subject” who reads and as the “object” of what is being read. In reading a novel or a work of poetry, the reader actually experiences “being read” by the words that he or she is reading. Readers can thus be compared to players on a field: they play the game, but the game is also played through them, in the sense that they are totally caught up in the action
Literature can greatly stimulate the free and humble exercise of our use of reason, a fruitful recognition of the variety of human languages, a broadening of our human sensibilities, and finally, a great spiritual openness to hearing the Voice that speaks through many voices.

African Dystopia: South Africa's Dispositions Depicted in Selected Telenovelas
South Africa's popular television shows, such as Skeem Saam, The River, and Scandal!, are marked by the social and cultural dispositions in South Africa. These dispositions, I argue, edify what I theorise as the 'African Dystopia' complacent in African communities. In this essay, I argue how the theory of 'African Dystopia' is applicable to selected South African television shows. I signpost two popular television shows, Skeem Saam and The River to argue this theory and refer to significant scenes that edify the theory of African Dystopia.
The theory of 'African Dystopia' suggests that the selected television shows depict a bleak and rather oppressive reality within African communities. I would therefore argue that this depiction is evident with the way(s) characters such as Dimpho Mokoena (played by Matshepo Sekgopi)[before morphing into Kalashnikov 2.0], Thuso Mokoena (played by Presley Chweneyagae), Mabuto Dimba (played by Thembinkosi Mthembu) and Jacobeth Thobakgale (played by Elizabeth Serunye) struggle with poverty as a plague in their communities, the secondary ramifications corruption, and the various landscapes of violence. These, are in essence, overarching themes applicable in both Skeem Saam and The River which showcase the challenges South Africans face on a regular basis in post-apartheid South Africa.
I further advance the theory of African Dystopia by arguing that The River explores the marginalization of black South Africans; the mine and Refilwe being a site for the marginalization of black South Africans. To elaborate on this further, the establishing shots innovatively captured by the drone(s) when scenes transition to these sites are (re)presentations of the ongoing marginalization of black South Africans. At this point, one can assume that the creators of this show, Phathu Makwarela, and Gwydion Beynon will end the show by applying Slavoj Žižek's theory of Symbolic and Systematic Violence. In addition, I would also include the Cycle of Oppression as a theory applicable in the (re)presentations of marginalized black South Africans.
African Dystopia in Skeem Saam can be traced to two important scenes. First, we [the spectator] witness the challenges Leshole Mabitsela (played by) Thabo Mkhabela experiences towards his 'dream' of becoming a pilot - a site of escapism. In essence, escaping from the cycle and I would argue, the 'generational curse' of poverty. It begs one to question whether the notion of escapism suggests that it is a reality marked by Western ideology and way(s) of living that contrasts African individuality.
In a technical sense, African Dystopia is captured in the establishing shots (both in Skeem Saam and The River), as well as the close-up and medium-close-up of characters who are victims of this African Dystopia. It would be very innovative and compelling if the cinematographer or Director of Photography would make use of over-the-shoulder shots (which we only witnessed in the opening of Season 2's The Republic), single-shot sequences, especially when drama unfolds, and substituting cameras with drones when panning from angle to angle. With these techniques in place, not only would our stories look better visually, but they also might offer a new insight into the African Dystopia which is the common theme running through all these dramas. For example, the use of over-the-shoulder shots would help an audience be immersed into characters' experiences more deeply in their suffering. Additionally, single-shot sequences during high moments of drama would give a sense, of the "hurry-up and wait" feeling as it were—which then heightens what on screen comes up as an emotional impact. Last but not least: exchanging a television camera for drones means that over long and sometimes very long panoramas, a dynamic quality of imagery comes streaming in—another vibrant reminder that this place called Africa is after all indeed a huge complex place.

Baadasssss!: 2004, Mario van Peebles
On march 31, 1971, after a difficult and unorthodox production process, Melvin van Peebles released “Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song,” a film which would be met with mixed reviews and even censorship in some markets but would ultimately leave an indelible mark on American filmmaking.  The film introduced editing techniques that are staples in American cinema today and led to the creation of Blaxploitation as a genre.
Baadasssss! is a biographical drama produced, written, directed, and starring Mario van Peebles as his father Melvin.  The film chronicles the storied production of “Sweet Sweetback,” from Melvin’s struggles to finance the film himself, to his ethically questionable onset behavior and decisions, to his ultimate success in completing the film and proving that black films, even radical ones, could be financially successful.  Baadasssss! is a personal and moving tribute from a son to his father, but does not shy away from an honest depiction of Melvin, warts and all, and serves as an entertaining and edifying introduction to an obscure but hugely influential black film.
Film Submitted! Thank you very much <3

Watching Disney's Brave for the first time in years. I remember a YouTube video edifying how the movie is actually very good until mom gets turned into a bear. Like a perfectly good interpersonal drama about the challenges of the expectations of womanhood and royalty turned into a magical road trip.
Wasted potential I guess? It does seem accurate.
Dunno why they had to make every single male character a dirty ingrate with a room temperature IQ tho, when was this made; last year?

Aaron Lee: “Church History” for Kids and Adults: A Book Review
“How did we get from the Great Commission to the modern church today? In Church History, Simonetta Carr presents the important people, places, and events of church history.”
Linda Kim: Good Grief
“When waves of grief wash over me in unexpected ways, I am letting the tears flow. I am inviting them in and allowing myself to sit in the grief because it helps me to know that Jesus sits with me.”
Tom Sugimura: 5 Lessons from the Japanese American Internment
“Although the mass evacuation and incarceration of Japanese Americans were neither right nor wise, the experience nevertheless enriched the church’s spiritual life as nothing else could have. Consider lessons the church today can learn as we minister to fellow believers who similarly face adversity.”
Andrew Lee: The “Model Minority” Myth in the Asian American Church
“Asian Americans continue to live in the liminal space of the margins. This is not to say Asian Americans have not gained that much in both secular and religious life. However, as the ‘model minority,’ we remain on the outside, looking to the majority for guidance and direction in matters of church and faith.”

Perhaps because on this island time stumbles and no longer flows, that our past is a real presence that dominates the present and gives it different shades from those with which other peoples live and thrive. Despite this, we do not think of the greatness of the story that fills the corners of the island near the piles of garbage and the endless rows of grapes. We live with the indifference of illegitimate heirs of empires and kingdoms with which we have lived and suffered, only to remain eternally islanders, unique and equal, first and last, periphery and origin, hero and appearance . It is precisely in this non-flow of time, in this finding ourselves alone on the stages of theaters that others have left us, that we become the simplification of man, we represent in the succession of edifying and criminal events, the essence of today's man , the irony that precedes the tragedy, the superficiality that hides the drama, the indifference that covers the curiosity because we are the beach on which the sea of time leaves the wrecks of infinite, glorious and dark shipwrecks.
