Frasier (1993 and 2023)
Tumblr media
The 1990s was probably the last great era for the American Sitcom and the majority of television viewers would probably pick "Seinfeld" as their favorite. As much as I love "Seinfeld" and its brand of famous gags, one liners and character quips, "Frasier" is in a class of its own above. For 11 seasons, Frasier maintained its Moliere/Alan Ayckbourn wit and farce without missing a beat. Nearly 20 years after the perfectly written series finale, "Frasier" has been rebooted and things have changed, some for the better and the rest for the worst. Here is the rundown about what made the original series a classic and the reboot (so far) a shadow of its former self.
Tumblr media
TV Spinoffs are usually a hit or miss affair. The hits like "Laverne and Shirley" and "The Jeffersons" managed to remove themselves from their origin and create their own brand of humor. Others like "After MASH" and "Phyllis" were tedious affairs that forgot their roots and sailed into the sunset of mediocrity. And then you have "Frasier" which took the spinoff to brand new heights. Having already been an established supporting character in another massively successful series "Cheers", Frasier Crane was engrained in the collective consciousness of the prime time audience, so that was one notch in watching the pilot of the original "Frasier". The first thing was to reinvent Frasier as a radio psychiatrist which becomes the foundation for jokes about the human mind. But then you add supporting characters that are so multi-dimensional that they have to compete with the title character for the most laughs. That came in the form of David Hyde Pierce as Frasier's equally pompous psychiatrist brother Niles and John Mahoney as their blue collar, retired, disabled policeman father Martin. Watching the difference between tasting wine and singing Gilbert and Sullivan operettas to drinking beer and watching the ballgame on TV and you have a dynamic that is another foundation of excellent writing. At the same time, there's Peri Gilpin as Frasier's producer Roz who beds every man (single or married) in town and Jane Leeves as Daphne, Martin's in-house nurse and Niles' crush. When you have several running gags all synchronized in 11 amazing seasons that never jumped the shark, the possibilities are endless. Even recurring jokes like the rivalry between the Crane brothers, the elusive identity of Niles' wife Maris, or the random actions of Martin's dog Eddie, were add ons to an already colorful mosaic of wit and wisdom. Like the Sistine Chapel, or Bach's Goldberg Variations, Frasier is several fine tuned sequences that make up a Leviathan of a presentation. What can possibly go wrong?
Tumblr media
The reboot of "Frasier" in hindsight should never have happened because in the series finale, the viewer wanted Frasier to have a happy ending and fine true love with his last girlfriend Charlotte. That hope goes out the window and instead what we get is another chapter in our titular character's hapless life when he becomes a lecturer in Psychiatry at Harvard. In the original pilot, we got to know each character's strengths and flaws in only 22 minutes. With the reboot, it takes 2 episodes just to establish each character's back story. Now that Martin is dead and Niles & Daphne are MIA, the majority of the new characters are generic, paint by numbers creations. Frasier's son Frederick (Jack Cutmore-Scott) is blue collar like his grandfather and the deja vu dynamic is not played up for laughs. You have a storyline written in about Frederick's roommate Eve (Jess Salguero) that gets too convoluted and ends up like a subplot in a cheesy soap opera. Most unforgivably, there's Niles and Daphne's son David (Anders Keith) who is supposed to be an amalgam of his parents, but instead of having headstrong principles and acerbic banter, he's just obnoxiously atrocious. This isn't the offspring of a fascinating couple, it's a clone of Screech from "Saved By The Bell". The only thing that somewhat works and has any relevance to the original series is Frasier's scenes with his new colleagues at Harvard which includes his old college friend Alan (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and department head Olivia (Toks Olagundoye). Alan is the new Niles in how he and Frasier exchange intellectual topics and if you can close your eyes, you'd think it was the Crane Brothers. Olivia is tolerable only when she's in the same room as Alan. Otherwise, her scenes with Frasier border on cringeworthy, which goes against the original formula of all the characters mingling with indefinite punchlines. Finally, Kelsey Grammer is at the helm of a rocky boat trying to steer it through choppy waves. He hasn't lost any of his charm but he can only do so much with what's written in the script.
Tumblr media
Only three episodes of the reboot have aired as of now (10/22/2023), and the show has a lot to live up to its source material. Roz and Frasier's ex wife Lilith are supposed to make appearances in future episodes. What will they bring to the table and will it rival the classic episodes? I'm not holding my breath, but do hope that the show improves itself.
Original: 10/10
Reboot: 6/10

Summary: Steve Harrington is man who has nothing but time. No, really. Leaving nothing except a vague note, his daughter slips into the past with only a familiar token for an anchor. His busted watch gives him a hint as to the when and where of it all, but does little to calm his nerves.
Or
In order to piece together the present, you have to rewrite the past.
Themes: grief, memory, time travel, a fraudulent interpretation of quantum mechanics & physics, abuse of temporal reality and verb tense, murphy's law, friends to lovers, slow burn, some smut (?), kid fic, parenthood, co-parenting as two lesbians and a token bisexual, Dustin Henderson: godfather, World's Greatest Babysitter: Eddie Munson, are they still considered an imaginary friend if they exist in an alternate dimension?, eventual happy ending

Coffee in Teamwork: A Drink of Revolution, A Beverage of Evolution
Not a fan of Mondays? We've got a solution for you: beat that work reluctance with your team. If none of you are feeling motivated to work, let’s tackle it together. Start your week with a “Monday blues” team kickoff over coffee. This can boost enthusiasm, creativity, and a can-do attitude.
Make it a tradition to gather regularly for coffee.
It's no secret that many people spend their Friday evenings in bars, drinking liquor. This was true even three centuries ago when men (and sometimes women) enjoyed gin and wine in taverns after 14-16 hours of work. European monarchs, especially French kings, tried to limit alcohol consumption. After attempts at "dry laws," their subjects turned to cafes to drink coffee.
Et voila!
The urban middle class reduced its liquor consumption and became sober. Sober people began to think. Coffee helped them concentrate on the fundamental issues of their society. This concentration led to detailed consideration, and eventually, these people sought and found solutions. Hailey Eber concluded, "The Enlightenment and subsequent intellectual movements were also fueled by coffee." This solution was the Revolution. The French Revolution and its consequences radically changed the old world. As Eddy Kyle Gilpin wrote, "During the years 1789 to 1793, many of the events of the French Revolution had their beginnings either in or in the vicinity of the Parisian cafés."
Today, teams and crews constantly need revolutionary, radical solutions to make their companies more successful.
The foundation of business success is the full cooperation of team members. But today, we have another inner engine of our companies: diversity. Many cultures, lifestyles, and attitudes help find new and non-standard solutions to current issues. Some groups still discuss problems over wine. In fact, people become more open, and their tongues work better. Among the words spoken, they can find a solution.
However, this method is not suitable for everyone in our society. Brainstorming under the influence of alcohol is not acceptable for Muslims, several Protestant denominations, Jews (unless the wine is kosher), and people who follow a sober lifestyle for their own reasons. Additionally, some people drink only with close friends and relatives.
But coffee is the best beverage to seek new methods and discover unconventional solutions together.
Nowadays, team training is all the rage. Some companies conduct these sessions every week! However, this can lead to constant distress and burnout.
Team life is already full of tension, and adding more tension can be risky for the company. That's why it's better to gather once to drink coffee and discuss things at ease. A cup of coffee will help every team member concentrate.
Thinking logically is 80% of solving an issue. Discussing logically is 100% of the solution. After a little cup of coffee, people usually start to think and speak logically.
So, gather one day (preferably after lunch) in the conference room, make cups of coffee, and start discussing. Let it be spontaneous without a set topic; the topic will emerge from the debate. And this debate will be your issue.
As Barry D. Smith, Amanda Osborne, and others emphasized in 2004, "Caffeine also enhances performance on selective attention tasks." Of course, selective attention is a necessary and even mandatory part of our consciousness to resolve issues.
Drink coffee and discuss, and your team will be steady and make a revolution in business!

Black Hawk Colorado Casino Heist: Uncovering Covert Agency Tackling Casino Robberies
Tumblr media
Black Hawk, Colorado, was shaken by a brazen casino theft, baffling authorities. It became apparent as the inquiry progressed that this was no ordinary robbery. The thieves were crafty, well-organized, and had insider knowledge of the casino's security procedures. The stakes were high, and the pressure was on for law enforcement to solve the case, which included millions of cash. In this account of avarice and duplicity, we follow the investigation into the Black Hawk, Colorado, casino heist with twists and turns.
Black Hawk Colorado Casino Heist
An obscure state law enforcement division is currently investigating its most significant case. This month, a cashier at the Monarch Casino in Black Hawk was arrested for stealing half a million dollars in cash. This is the highest theft from a casino in Colorado since gambling became legal in 1991. Colorado's Division of Gaming has sixty sworn agents conducting the inquiry. "While on duty, they have full authority as peace officers," Ron Kammerzell, the division's former head, said. "Part of their job is to patrol the casinos looking for criminal and regulatory violations." Moreover, 9NEWS Denver tweeted on Twitter about the heist at the Black Hawk Colorado Casino. $500k casino heist in Black Hawk is largest in Colorado history https://t.co/iaRuptw8AN — 9NEWS Denver (@9NEWS) March 28, 2023 Yet, the $500,000 Monarch theft is the most significant case ever encountered by agents from the Division of Gaming. A security officer at the JP McGills casino in Cripple Creek is suspected of taking $300,000 in 2003, according to a representative for the police. In 2019, a theft of $28,000 was the third-largest in the history of Black Hawk's illustrious Bonanza Casino. Three robbers in 1993 stole eight grand from the Gold Rush Casino in Cripple Creek, Colorado. According to Kammerzell, casino police often deal with customer complaints, check for underage gamblers, and enforce state gaming laws.
Tumblr media
"If a patron has a dispute on a payout at a blackjack table or a dispute on a slot machine, they would come in and investigate it and decide the proper disposition," he said. Black Hawk Police Department Commander Greg Cooper stated that the Division of Gaming typically investigates offenses where the casino is the victim. He assured us that Black Hawk PD would follow up on any reports of wallet thefts at the slot machines. The Division of Gaming will deal with the situation if they leave credits on the slot machine and someone else tries to withdraw the money. You can also review additional articles we have written that cover various subjects. - Coroner Reveals Identities of Riverside County Helicopter Crash Victims - Burger King Restaurants Closing: Michigan's Fast Food Fallout One Division of Gaming's officers prepared the arrest affidavit for the cashier accused of stealing $500,000 from the Monarch Casino. According to the affidavit, Sabrina Eddy stole ten bricks of currency from the casino's vault on March 12 and fled the scene in a gold minivan. According to the affidavit, she stated a guy who identified himself as a casino executive urged her to take the money or the casino "would be in breach of contract." Later that morning, she claims, she saw a man she thought was an attorney in the hospital parking lot and gave him the money. In the Gilpin County Jail, Eddy is serving time for theft. She is still unattached. If you are interested in reading articles similar to the one you are currently reading, you can do so by going to TheActiveNews.com. Read the full article

I just watched Jumanji: The Next Level and it was very good. The cast was of course absolutely hilarious. I loved the addition of Danny Devito and Danny Glover. They made Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson even funnier. Fridge was my favorite character. I feel like it had a little less action and excitement as the first one but that didn’t bother me because the action scenes were super fun and crazy. My favorite parts were any time Eddie killed everybody, any time he did the smolder or any thing with the horse. I like that they all learn a little something meaningful from the game. I really liked the ending. I’m excited for the next one.

So against all odds I’ve really enjoyed the new Jumanji films and The Next Level is no exception...BUT there are two things that I find it hilarious how hard they went to avoid going into:
1) Milo deciding to stay in Jumanji was a nice scene and all but how are they going to explain his absence in the real world? The man disappeared and the last person he contacted is someone who held a grudge against him. The police are going to go after Eddie for murder!
2) Bethany is still clearly really, really into Alex/Seaplane. She is simultaneously thirsting over a hot pilot and wanting to get nailed by a 40 year old DILF.
