ok so ik no one cares but with the unexpected Sims brainworm I tried moving my household to Evergreen Harbor bc the apartments there are pretty decent and exactly the kind of gameplay I'm going for (self-projecting myself onto the "broke adults trying to find a job" scenario dsjdjdh) but gd I hate that world so much. idk what it is about it, but it feels so empty it's giving me the backrooms vibes
#t#eco living in general is my least favorite expansion#it's so....idk liminal space kinda thing?#I wanted san myshuno (one of my fav worlds) but I hate most of the starter apartments#probably gonna cheat the boys some money and download some renovated san myshuno apartments bc I don't feel like doing it myself#also the new world that came with the infants expansion sucks too lol#san sequoia? yeah idk I don't like it

Monster High Legacy (TS4)
A while ago, I posted a Sims 3 challenge based on Mattel’s Monster High doll collection. Now, I’ve tweaked the challenge to fit the Sims 4! It’s an eight-generation legacy challenge, with each generation based upon one of the core dolls in the collection, alongside two bonus generations based on my personal favorite dolls lol. Each generation in the challenge is assigned a specific color scheme but you do not have to follow it if you don’t want to! You also do not need to make the sims look like the dolls in question. At the end of the day, this challenge is simply for fun and to play through aspects of the game I personally haven’t before. You will need a variety of expansion and game packs which are highlighted in parentheses.
Tag: #mhlc or “@” me!
SEND ME TO THE RULES
For those who want an example of the rules, the first generation preview is below:
Generation 1: Frankie Stein
“Frankie, a recently created frankenmonster, is still navigating their way through the world as they try to understand who they are and what they want to be. Taylor Swift Eras Legacy Challenge
This challenge is inspired by my love of Taylor Swift. While each generation’s requirements are inspired by themes found in her albums, they are not meant to be a reflection of what I think of Queen Taylor. I have not play-tested, so please let me know if there are any problems! I know I’m not the only one to make a challenge like this, but I’m hoping mine is not too similar to anyone else’s. Any overlap is completely unintentional.
General rules:
For each generation, complete the required aspiration, career, and skills.
The aesthetic and colors for each generation are not required, but I think they make it more fun!
Each generation can begin with starter funds, or 0 simoleons if you want to make it more challenging. If you have multiple generations living together, you can keep the household funds from each generation in the family.
Play on normal or long lifespan
If you get a self-discovery trait pop-up, you may accept additional traits, but you can't change existing traits.
Legacy challenges are about having fun! If changing any of the requirements will make your gameplay more fun, go right ahead!
If you post your gameplay anywhere, feel free to tag it with #tseraslegacy
This challenge requires:
Expansions: All except Island Living and Eco Lifestyle
Game Packs: Spa Day, Dine Out (can be played without), and Parenthood
Stuff packs: Nifty Knitting
Generation 1: Debut
From a young age, you’ve dreamed of having a big family and a loving spouse. You love to write songs and sing about your dreams for the future, and you’re determined to make your dreams come true. Your favorite thing in the world is spending time with your family.
Aesthetic/Colors: Country, Blue/Green/White
Aspiration: Big Happy Family
Traits: Proper, Romantic, Ambitious
Career: Gardener (use the work from home option once you have children)
Skills: Writing, Guitar, Parenting
Other Requirements:
Marry your high school sweetheart (preferably, have known them since childhood)- This requires starting the generation as a child. Skip this requirement if you'd like to start the challenge as a young adult
Have at least three children
Frequently join family members in what they’re doing
Generation 2: Fearless
You had loving parents who raised you to believe that you could do anything, so you’re literally reaching for the stars. While your career is important to you, you also make time for your friends and family and like to host dinner parties for them at home. You always keep your guest room open in case someone gets sleepy and wants to stay the night.
Aesthetic/Colors: Light Academia, Gold/Brown/White
Aspiration: Friend of the World
Traits: Jealous, Family-oriented, Geek
Career: Astronaut
Skills: Rocket Science, Logic
Other Requirements:
Have a high school best friend you’re close with your whole life
Host a dinner party once a week
Have a guest room in your house and accept any stay-over requests you get
Generation 3: Speak Now
Having such a successful parent led you to want the same success. The arts are your passion, so you make them both your career and hobbies. Whenever you’re not taking in beautiful art at a museum or good food at a restaurant, you’re making music at home. You want to instill the same values in your children, so you take them weekly to either a museum or restaurant.
Aesthetic/Colors: Artsy, Purple/Blue/White
Aspiration: Musical Genius
Traits: Overachiever, Good, Cheerful
Career: Critic (either branch)
Skills: Writing, any instrument
Other Requirements:
Have at least one failed relationship
Have a pristine reputation
Take your family on a weekly outing to a museum or restaurant
Generation 4: Red
You always looked up to your parent, and wanted to win their approval by making one of their passions your career, even though you weren’t very passionate about them. Throughout your first two (sort of miserable) careers, your two consolations were posting to social media and photography. Eventually, you realize that your parent is proud of you no matter what, and you follow your own path.
Aesthetic/Colors: Hipster, Red/Black/White
Aspiration: Renaissance Sim
Traits: Cat lover, Outgoing, Music lover
Careers: Fast food employee, Painter, Social Media (either branch)
Skills: Piano, Painting, Photography
Other Requirements:
Have one failed relationship with a sim at least one life stage ahead of you
Post to social media (Simstagram, Social Bunny, etc.) every day
Generation 5: 1989
You have always had a very strong sense of self, and knew from an early age that you were destined for superstardom. As an adult, you are quickly obsessed with the celebrity lifestyle, and become known for your amazing parties. People flock to you, and you have a large group of friends. You are very career-focused, so you don’t have a strong relationship with your child, even though you give them the best of everything.
Aesthetic/Colors: Preppy, Blue/Pink/Black
Aspiration: Party Animal
Traits: Insider, Party Animal, Clumsy
Career: Entertainer (musician branch)
Skills: Singing, Dance, Guitar
Other Requirements:
Become a level 5 celebrity
Have only one child
Go out with a group or throw a party twice a week
Gain the people person lifestyle
Generation 6: Reputation
Your parent didn’t spend much time with you during your childhood, so your relationship with them is tense. You have a strong sense of right and wrong, so you become a judge to bring people to justice (sometimes through mischievous means). Sometimes your commitment to justice makes you enemies, but that’s the job. Despite your relationship, you’re more like your parent than you think, and you love to go out and dance any chance you get.
Aesthetic/Colors: Rocker/Grunge, Black/Gray/White
Aspiration: Chief of Mischief
Traits: Self-assured, Dance machine, Hot-headed
Career: Lawyer (Justice branch)
Skills: Mischief, Dance
Other Requirements:
Have 3 enemies
Pull pranks on sims you see perform negative interactions
Go out and dance at a venue once a week
Generation 7: Lover
You share your parent’s commitment to public service, but you prefer to affect change at the ground-level. When you’re not sticking up for the underdog, you like to spend time with your spouse and children around a good meal. You often cook together with members of your household. Your love of your family means that you’re always ready to brighten their day with a joke.
Aesthetic/Colors: Twee, Pastel Pink/Blue/Purple
Aspiration: Soulmate
Traits: Foodie, Goofball, Loyal
Career: Politics (Charity organizer branch)
Skills: Charisma, Cooking, Comedy
Other Requirements:
Marry your first relationship
Have a weekly family meal
Frequently cook together with your family
Frequently tell jokes to your family members
Generation 8: Folklore
You’ve always loved making things and being creative. The only thing better is sharing what you’ve made with your large family. You love the bustle of your busy house, and often have other family members and friends over to visit.
Aesthetic/Colors: Boho, Red/Brown/Green
Aspiration: Lord/Lady of the Knits
Traits: Creative, Animal enthusiast, Bookworm
Career: Writer
Skills: Knitting, Writing, Baking
Other Requirements:
Be involved in a love triangle
Have a full household once you're an adult (Sims and pets)
Invite friends and family over to hang out at your house
Generation 9: Evermore
Growing up in such a big household, you were always trying to find some peace and quiet. You are most comfortable on your own, outside with your animals. You’ve designed your life so that you rarely have to interact with strangers in-person, so you grow and collect most of your food on your farm. You make and sell arts and crafts online, so you don’t need to interact with other sims outside your family.
Aesthetic/Colors: Cottagecore, Orange/Blue/Cream
Aspiration: Country Caretaker
Traits: Loves the outdoors, Loner, Perfectionist
Career: Freelance artist
Skills: Gardening, Painting, Cross stitch
Other Requirements:
Have at least one bad break-up
Skip prom (like Dorothea)
Have the simple living lot trait
Avoid interacting with sims outside your family
Generation 10: Midnights
You’ve always had a big personality and felt different than your quiet family. As a young adult, you become an actress to pursue a life of glamor, but you find that you miss the serenity of your childhood. You turn to Wellness to find a balance between the different parts of yourself.
Aesthetic/Colors: Polished, Blue/Black/Purple
Aspiration: Admired Icon (teen) and Inner Peace
Traits: High maintenance, Snob, Genius
Career: Actor/Actress
Skills: Acting, Wellness, Logic
Other Requirements:
Have a low or distant relationship with your family as a teen and young adult, but become closer over time
Break up with a significant other to focus on your career
Have a cat named Karma

Hi what's your favorite DLCs for every Sim game? The one you wouldn't play without.
The Sims 2: Free Time. But tbf every pack adds soooo much and I like them all.
The Sims 3: Ambitions, Generations. I like Seasons too, festivals are my favourite part.
The Sims 4: City Living, Get Together, Parenthood, Seasons. I like Eco Lifestyle too, but I don't think it's a must-have.
The Sims 1 is an exception. I've never ever played Sims 1 with at least one expansion pack, haha. I played base game for years before buying The Complete Collection, so I don't really know which EP adds what. I like Makin' Magic and Superstar a lot, though.
Thanks for the question! Have a good day ~

thinking about your post on how the language we use influences our perception and how the caption for the first photo in the salamander post describes the pacific giant salamander as a *witness* to the prescribed burn. like it gives the salamander a sentience that i definitely think helps form the mindset of the reader.
Thank you for this message. Love this subject. Pacific giant salamanders are very important in my life. We must be talking about Robin Wall Kimmerer’s interview about the power of language and respecting the “being-ness” of other-than-human creatures, which happened to invoke salamanders? (The post.) And then there is the post about how the Pacific giant salamander “witnesses” a Karuk traditional prescribed burn. (The post.) Coincidentally, I also wrote another post a while ago specifically about my interactions with an isolated population of the creature, and the language and implications of naming the Pacific giant salamander. (The post.)
I really want to make it clear that the language in that caption of the Karuk salamander was not really from me, though I describe the salamander’s actions similarly. In a report on Karuk land management on Fire Adapted Communities Learning Network, Bill Tripp (a lead author of the great Karuk Climate Adaptation Plan and the deputy directory of Eco-Cultural Revitalization for the Karuk tribe) was the person to use that language: “A Pacific giant salamander observes a cooperative, controlled burn conducted by the Karuk Indigenous Basketweavers (...).” I think this photo has been reproduced in other media at least once, where the “witness” term might’ve been used in the caption, but can’t remember for sure? Tanoak woodlands are the source of acorns, apparently central to traditional food systems in the region, and prescribed burning is essential to tanoak health. Tripp repeatedly describes the giant salamander as a “central cultural indicator” creature in the forests and rivers of the Klamath-Siskiyou region.
Pacific giant salamander I bumped into:
Personally it’s important to me to make a conscious effort to acknowledge and respect the agency of creatures by trying to perceive them as active, by contemplating their ability to witness, to engage, to feel. And I especially want to extend that respect to Pacific giant salamanders, who are important figures in my life. Before anyone rolls their eyes at me: I’m not trying to anthropomorphize them! I like how Robin Wall Kimmerer described it:
“In the English language, if we want to speak of that sugar maple or that salamander, the only grammar that we have to do so is to call those beings an “it.” [...] In Potawatomi, the cases that we have are animate and inanimate, and it is impossible in our language to speak of other living beings as “it”s. [...] Scientists are very eager to say that we oughtn’t to personify elements in nature for fear of anthropomorphizing. And what I mean when I talk about the personhood of all beings, plants included, is not that I am attributing human characteristics to them, not at all. I’m attributing plant characteristics to plants. [...] Just as it would be disrespectful to try and put plants in the same category through the lens of anthropomorphism, I think it’s also deeply disrespectful to say that they have no consciousness, no awareness, no being-ness at all. And this denial of personhood to all other beings is increasingly being refuted by science itself.” [Interviewed by Krista Tippett. “On Being with Krista Tippett - Robin Wall Kimmerer: The Intelligence in All Kinds of Life.” February 2016.]
So, I am not Karuk and I don’t want to appropriate environmental knowledge. I don’t feel comfortable as an outsider sharing other peoples’ culturally-specific traditional environmental knowledge. So I want to acknowledge the work of the Karuk Tribe Department of Natural Resources. They’ve compiled some really cool, extensive, and accessible information on the ecology of tanoak woodlands, conifer forest, and the Klamath region in general. And they’ve described how the Pacific giant salamander is an indicator species, and they also list the importance of several other iconic species, including another one of my favorite animals, the Oregon aquatic garternsnake, which is endemic to the Klamath region. (More on that, below.)
Another encounter:
I think I’ve interacted with giant salamanders more than any other individual animal. (Besides some invertebrates and, of course, our allies the “domesticated” cat; won’t even insult cats by implying their technical domestication cheapens their strong will.) Part of my love for the giant salamander has to do with their close association with temperate rainforest and their general uniqueness. I also specifically appreciate the unique small-stream and waterfall pool habitat of their aquatic larvae. The ever-present sound of the rushing stream. The shade of the hemlock and cedar. The streams are often up in the mountains, and they’re steep, they cascade, and there are many small waterfalls, and cedar logs have fallen over the water creating little moss-covered bridges for ferns to inhabit, and so each little pool or eddy in the stream is like its own little world, the way the water courses along the curvature of a bank, or collects against a boulder, so that the shoreline and miniature topography of every little pool is unique.
And though parts of the temperate rainforest, especially farther north, are home to grizzly bear, mountain caribou, and sea wolves which fish for salmon, as a younger person I really loved the “smaller” creatures: land snails, mushrooms, moss, tailed frogs, newts, etc. A cosmos on the forest floor hidden under the decaying cedar logs.
While I grew up in a relatively dry semiarid space, the rainforest was nearby, and I associated those amphibians with persistence of life, since all the fungus and slugs and plants were just so densely congregated. Where there were salamanders, there was life. Or something.
Encounter with the aquatic larvae:
Also wanna take this opportunity to recommend the Karuk Climate Adaptation Plan from 2019, authored by the Karuk Tribe Department of Natural Resources.
I don’t like sharing other peoples’ environmental knowledge. It seems to me, as an outsider, that because the Karuk tribe has, in recent years, taken a leading role in managing forests of Northern California, they have “translated” some of their knowledge to improve settler-colonial mis-management. (So that California state agencies can learn a thing or two and stop messing up the landscape.) A phrase I used previously: “Somethings, things that are aesthetically pleasing are worse.” Despite the coastal Pacific Northwest being associated with lush and heavily-vegetated temperate rainforest, the floor coated in thick green moss, the river corridors near Medford, Ashland, the Rogue River, and parts of Karuk land often host “dry” oak woodlands. And of course Karuk, Yurok, and other people in the area had for centuries used prescribed burning to encourage continued healthy growth of the naturally-occurring tanoak woodlands and oak savanna that exist at lower elevations of the Klamath Mountains; but Euro-American land management agencies of the State of California and federal government essentially ignored the savanna ecology and they instead worked to artificially expand the aesthetically-pleasing greens of coniferous forest. Because they host more open space and less trees, oak woodlands might superficially look somewhat desolate when compared to coniferous forest; maybe the lush greens of coniferous forest environments “look healthier.” California agencies’ decision to promote expansion of coniferous forest harmed one of North America’s most prominent biodiversity hotspots and also harmed local foodsheds which rely on oak presence and acorn harvest. Without prescribed burning, the conifer trees encroached on the oak landscape, and this damages Karuk food systems by leading to a loss of acorn harvest.
Anyway, the giant salamander is not the only indicator species that the Karuk Climate Adaptation Plan acknowledges. These screenshots come from that 2019 plan, lead authors are Bill Tripp and Kari Marie Norgaard.
From Kimmerer again, in the same interview:
[W]hen we name something, often with a scientific name, this name becomes almost an end to inquiry. We sort of say, well, we know it now. We’re able to systematize it […]. It’s such a mechanical, wooden representation of what a plant really is. And we reduce them tremendously if we just think about them [solely] as physical elements of the ecosystem. […] This comes back to what I think of as the innocent or childlike way of knowing. Actually, that’s a terrible thing to call it. We say it’s an innocent way of knowing, and, in fact, it’s a very worldly and wise way of knowing. That kind of deep attention that we pay as children is something that I cherish, that I think we all can cherish and reclaim, because attention is that doorway to gratitude, the doorway to wonder, the doorway to reciprocity.

Sims 4 Every Pack Legacy Challenge
Hi everyone! I’m a semi-new player (but long time YouTube video watcher) and I’ve noticed that I have all the packs but rarely take advantage of them/explore what they have to offer. So I’ve come up with an idea for a legacy challenge where each generation focuses on a specific pack. This is perfect timing as Snowy Escape is now the tenth expansion pack!
I apologize of this has been done before, I tried searching and didn’t really find an existing challenge that fit what I wanted to do. This is my first time attempting to write a challenge so please tell me what I can do to fix/help.
I’ve also noticed that a lot of legacy challenges have “stories” fro each generation. Is that needed? If so I’ll brainstorm and add them haha
General concepts:
Live in the world/neighborhood associated with the pack
Have a career included in the pack
Have the traits included in the pack
If there was an aspiration included in the pack, have it
Marry or have children with a “native” - AKA, marry someone you meet in the world or neighborhood you live in.
And of course, build any skills related to the pack
Not all packs will have all of these. In that case, just choose something similar (or don’t, your choice.)
I don’t have any restrictions on the number of children or heir rules, you can either pick yourself or follow regular legacy rules for that.
Generation 1: Get to Work
Live in Magnolia Promenade
Join the Scientist career, reach highest level
Make contact with aliens
Optional: have a baby with an alien, may or may not be the heir
Marry/have children with co-worker or alien
Max out baking skill
Generation 2: Get Together
Move to Windenerg
Have both the Dance Machine and Insider traits
Complete the Leader of the Pack aspiration
Join a club as a young adult (or sooner if you wish)
Marry/have children with a fellow club member
Max out the dancing and DJ mixing skills
Generation 3: City Living
Move to San Myshuno
Have both the unflirty and vegetarian traits
Join either the critic, politician, or social media career; reach highest level
Complete the City Native Aspiration
Marry/have children with someone from the city
Attend all festivals at least once (Geekcon, Humor and Hijinks, Romance, Spic, and Flea Market)
Max out singing skill
Generation 4: Cats & Dogs
Move to Brindelton Bay
Have either the cat lover or dog lover trait
Complete the Friend of the Animals aspiration
Marry/have children with someone from Brindelton Bay
Have multiple animals
Own a vet clinic
Max out the pet training and veterinarian skills
Generation 5: Seasons (optional game pack generation)
Celebrate all holidays
Join scouts as a child
Join the Gardener career; reach highest level
Max out flower arranging and skating skills
Optional game pack aspiration
Since there’s not as much to do with this expansion, I thought this would be a fun one to do the Star Wars, Jungle Adventure, Vampire, or Realm of Magic packs. So pick your favorite aspiration from those and complete that. If your chosen game pack has a residential world you can move there if you want. You can also marry/have children with someone from that game pack.
Generation 6: Get Famous
Move to Del Sol Valley
Have the self-absorbed trait
Join the drama club as a child
Join the Acting career; reach highest level
Become a five-star celebrity
Marry/have children with a co-star or other celebrity
Complete the world-famous celebrity or master actor aspiration (or both of you want)
Max out both acting and media production skills
Generation 7: Island Living
Move to Sulani
Have the beach life aspiration
Have either the child of the islands or child of the ocean trait
Join the Conservationist career; reach highest level
Befriend, marry, or become a mermaid
Generation 8: Discover University
Live on campus while at University
Complete the academic aspiration
Max out the research & debate and robotics skills
Build and keep Servo
Join the Education career
Marry/have children with a roommate or someone you meet on campus
Generation 9: Eco Lifestyle
Move to Evergreen Harbor
Either make your town super clean/eco or super dirty/polluted
Marry/have children with someone you meet in town
Have at least two eco-related traits: freegan, green fiend, maker, recycle disciple
Complete either the eco innovator or master maker aspiration (or both if you want)
Join the civil designer or freelance crafter career, reach highest level
Max out both fabrication and juice fizzing skills
Generation 10: Snowy Escape
Move to Mt. Komorebi
Join the Salaryperson career, reach highest level
Have both the adventurous and proper traits
Max out the rock climbing, skiing, and snowboarding skills
Marry/have children with someone you meet in town

what's your taste in music?
the short answer is that im a P4K-core bitch to like, an extreme almost; there was definitely a time where I read Pitchfork on the daily, listened to music almost entirely based on recommendations they made, and I still check it every once in a while, read through the Top 200 Tracks/Albums of the 2010s lists, all of that.
But more generally, I have that kind of standard post-ironic hipster eclecticism going, where I just like a lot of different things to certain degrees with a few being “my thing” over others, the way a lot of people listen to incredibly varied music on some kind of superficial level, but because of how certain discourses tend to cross over in online spaces, that varied-ness becomes somewhat homogenous when taken as a whole.
Like, I like mixtape-style gangster rap, but you’ll also see that some of them are popular among “tastemaker” types. Dababy is good as hell, as is Maxxo Kream, City Morgue, Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, Lil Peep, Juice WRLD, those dudes, along with the luminaries like Future, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, ones that have a pretty good reputation among people who “listen to music” a lot. I know a decent amount, but I also know that I’m past the first hump on the Dunning-Kruger hill, that what I know most openly is that I don’t really know much, that I am more defined by gaps than by my own taste at times. My favorite album of all time is My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and like, I straight up look at Kanye a lot like Žižek given my willingness to engage with both that a lot of others seem not to have (which in part is indeed due to Pitchfork). Also, Frank Ocean, I saw him live right after Channel ORANGE dropped and it was incredible, I’m gonna hold a grudge to my grave against The Eagles for being shitty about the original version of American Wedding. But I know I don’t know enough about, say, DJ Screw or Houston or Memphis rap, about the origins of trap, about the history of rap in New York or its expansion into Queens onto Long Island, any of that.
I’m more invested in-earnest rather than looking to people who explore it themselves and pass on recommendations in electronic music, particularly in early dubstep, the vague notion of “UK Bass”, and vaporwave along with what gets clumsily labeled IDM. I love a lot of cheesy big-box house and electro as well, like, I see artists like Skrillex for what they are and appreciate that. But I also know I really really fucking need to like, catch up with Burial’s latest output, I was influenced heavily by James Blake, I think that with the possibility of a new war with Iran that Fatima Al-Quadiri’s work is going to be of great influence for anyone with an ear for these things, I think that James Ferraro and most of all Daniel Lopatin are two of the least-credited innovators of the last decade’s sound, on a grand scale. One artist I stan bigtime is Elite Gymnastics, as well as Default Genders (half of EG, one of Grimes’ exes, incredibly interesting artist) and also just abrasive weird electronic shit like Machinegirl.
And the hipster-approved pop is another mainstay for me: Carly Rae Jepsen, Ariana Grande, above all Beyoncé, so on, but also including the weirder reaches like Janelle Monae, and for better or for worse, Grimes and her Nick Land bullshit (the new album is gonna slap and i hate that fact). And there are touches of hardcore or metal: Earth, Sleep, Eyehategod, heard Wolves in the Throne Room were fash as it turns out so I gotta check on that shit because eco-black metal sounds like a cool idea but fuck if the PNW isn’t fucked up politically, also we know the dudes in Deafheaven are dicks but they make good music. And I love post-rock too, Explosions in the Sky is normie but good, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor is my favorite band of all time.
Sometimes, though, I just like bad music. I liked Korn’s EP from last year, haven’t gotten to their back catalog so much yet. On enough of a bender (and I mean like, a lot of xanax or with a bunch of heroin up my nose) I fuck with 21 Pilots because like, they suck but in a way that can be fun. Billie Eilish is kinda weird as far as liked-disliked goes but I like what she’s doing! And of course, I genuinely like Post Malone, which says a lot about my drinking-on-pills habit lol. I like a lot of music that just kind of sucks. And music that other people don’t like: I stan Soulja Boy, I am a huge fan of him and will genuinely stan.
so like, I have a very certain sort of taste that’s kinda like, normcore lol

THE GAME OF LIFE LEGACY CHALLENGE!
So I created a little legacy challenge. I wanted to explore more of the expansion and stuff packs so some of these require more than the base game! Every generation has its own rules and goals, then on top of that each generation you will randomly roll for a “Bump in the road” AND a “Good Karma.” They are extra challenges you have to complete before the end of that generation! Its kind of like when you play ‘the game of life’ and you draw those random cards like “go to jail” or “Child goes to dentist, pay 500 dollars” you know like that!
If you would like to find out more then please keep reading! If you play go ahead and tag me so I can see your stories and share this post around so we can see if anyone does it!! IT IS KIND OF LONG IM SORRY, SINCE ITS TEN GENERATIONS ITS KINDA HARD TO MAKE IT NOT LONG.
GENERATION ONE
PICTURE PERFECT - - - Create your founder. You may also create a potential significant other in the same game, but they have to be on a separate lot. You may set them up in a house, and give them a job but you then must leave and go back to your founders gameplay. They have to meet by chance after that; if you dont organically meet them you must choose someone else you organically meet as your significant other. If you use a townie, you CAN give them a makeover but that is the only way you can use cheats; since I know everyone loves to make their sims pretty.
You may buy / download / build a tiny house for 10,000. Then use the testingcheats on cheat, and type in "money 1000". This will be your starting funds for your founder. You left home as a very young adult right after high school, ready to make your own life with just the small nestegg of 11,000 simoleons that your parent/guardian gave you as a graduation gift.
Now comes the fun part. It is time to start your legacy, this generation is going to be a little more laid back just to ease you into it. It is time to find a job! You may NOT use any cheats for promotions or money. You may sell things that you create/collect/grow or that you make from a hobby.
CAREERS: You may do any career you like, but keep in mind the other generations will have careers chosen by the challenge. So I would suggest doing something not in the later generations just to keep things spicy. You must make it to the end of the career before your heir of choice reaches young adult hood!
FAMILY & LOVE: It is time to find your one true love. In this generation you are only allowed ONE lover for your whole life. You must marry them, have children with them, and you may not divorce them at any point. Even if they start to hate each other later. (which would make a good simstory!) You must have 3 children, your favorite child may be the heir it is your choice for this generation.
CHILDREN: At least two of your children have to be at least B students in elementary school, and in high school. STUDY STUDY STUDY.

GOOD KARMA: Same as bump in the road but you choose from the list provided called 'good karma'.
GENERATION TWO
THEY'RE THE WORST - - - You spent your whole life being perfect for your parents, and now you are just sick of it. You marry the worst person you can find, and you have ASSHOLE children with him. All except one, your youngest child which will become your heir. Unlike the other children they will make good grades, and always be the sweet behaved one.

GOOD KARMA: Same as bump in the road but you choose from the list provided called 'good karma'.
GENERATION THREE
ECO FRIENDLY - - - For this generation you refuse to conform to the norm. You spend most of your time out doors, camping or growing crops on your land. I would say farm but SIMS HASN'T GIVEN US FARM ANIMALS YET. If you have seasons you must have a scarecrow and befriend it until it can finally come to life! Why? BECAUSE IT IS A COOL FEATURE. You may sell your crops for money. You may not have a washer or dryer, you have to wash your clothes in the washing tub. You are also a minimalist and prefer not to have tvs, radios, computer, ect. You must also have a cow plant, and it must eat at least two strangers! If not, I guess it's not a fail. Just for fun!
CAREER: You will be living off the land, in other words you will not have a regular job/career. You will make money by selling crops you grow, things you collected, or things you have crafted. Your spouse my have a regular job.
FAMILY & LOVE: You can get married or divorced as many times as you want, it is totally up to you. You can have a good relationship or a bad one depending on whatever you want to do for your generation.
CHILDREN: You must have at least two children, one will be more of the country/southern down home punch type while the other will be more scientific and very intelligent. The scientific child will be your heir, it does not matter if it is the youngest or the oldest. Your heir for this generation must be a male! You may have more than two children.
BUMP IN THE ROAD: Use the random dice/number generator website provided, roll a number 1-10. Find the number in the list below entitled "bump in the road" you must do this sometime in the generation before your heir becomes a young adult. You will do one for each generation.
GOOD KARMA: Same as bump in the road but you choose from the list provided called 'good karma'.
GENERATION FOUR
BUTT PROBING - - - All your child hood you loved the idea of technology, and reading books about it but your family was wildly against it. So your dream was to be a scientist and one day reach the alien world of Sixam! (Need GTW for this generation!) In this generation one of your main goals is to get abducted and impregnated by an alien. Thats right. We are bringing aliens into this shit. CAREER: Reach the end of the scientist career and max out the rocket ship skill. Your spouse my have any job. You must build a satellite to get abducted by aliens you may not use the cheat to get a satellite.
FAMILY & LOVE: You may marry. It would be more fun to marry an alien but that is up to you! Your spouse my have any job or none that is completely up to you.
CHILDREN: The alien baby will be your heir, no matter what gender it is. You may have other children and they may be human or adopted it is completely up to you. The heir must be a happy go lucky child that is bubbly and sweet while the other children are just normal or whatever you want them to be.
GENERATION FIVE
BAKERS DOZEN - - - It's time to get to cookin'! Your alien baby from your last generation is itchin' to start their own bakery and man do they love to cook. Savory & sweet. Try your hardest to make enough money to start your own little bakery. You also must max out all skills that are cooking, baking, gourmet cooking, ect. Every Sunday you have to have a family dinner cooking a gourmet meal and baking at least one desert.
CAREER: You can join the culinary career to make money until you have enough to start your own bakery then you must quit and make your money just from your bakery! You must have GTW for this generation.
FAMILY & LOVE: No rules when it comes to spouse, you can do whatever you want or marry who ever you want and get married or divorced as many times as you want. Though in my opinion since your sim for this generation is so happy and sweet they should be looking for 'the one' and probably only marry one person but thats just what I think!
CHILDREN: Must have at least one child. Your heir should be very brooding and dark, such as a loner or maybe even a borderline goth. He hates that his parent is so happy go lucky and they are more sinister than sweet. They can make good grades or not, it is up to you!
GENERATION SIX
THE LOVE BITE - - - That brooding baby is all grown up now, and man are they ready to move on with their life! They decided to settle down in a town called Forgotten Hollow. After years of searching the web as a loner teenager they have discovered that Forgotten Hollow is crawling in vampires, and they think the vampires are the only ones who will understand his achy heart and accept them for one of their own. Your life goal is to become the most powerful vampire around! (Must have Vampire expansion pack for this generation.)
CAREER: Career isn't very important in this generation, you can do whatever you like for money! Or you can be homeless for all I care and find yourself a rich vampire to shack up with. Sounds legit. Mmn.. Bill Compton... anyways!
FAMILY & LOVE: You find yourself falling in love with a neighborhood vampire, spending most of your time with them letting them feed on you because lets face it you are a weirdo. Eventually you convince them to change you into a vampire so you can finally become the powerful being you were meant to be!
CHILDREN: You can either have a child with the vampire while you are human or vampire. It depends on if you want your next generation to be vampire or not. If you become a vampire then have a baby with your vampire spouse it is 100% that you will have a vampire child. If you are human when doing so it is only 50% likely the baby will become a human this part is all up to your preference! Your heir must be male.
GENERATION SEVEN
STARVING ARTIST - - - You are the most creative sim on the block, and you know exactly how to channel your creativeness into making a profit. Wether you are just an insightful painter or a jack of all trades you are always working on something that will soon become a master piece, with the dream of selling art and becoming your own boss. Everything inspires you!
CAREER: You may not have a career or job. You may only do paintings or other hobbyist things to make money. Such as painting or sculpting. You may use other ways to make money on the side such as gardening, collecting ect.
FAMILY & LOVE: Because everything inspires you, you have multiple lovers. You have gotten a couple women pregnant already but you don't some very interested in raising them since you fall in and out of love every time you meet someone new. Eventually you find 'the one' and settle down and actually start a family.
CHILDREN: Your heir can be any gender, but it must be from the union of your marriage and not a love child from one of the women you knocked up in your 'stallion days'!
GENERATION EIGHT
DOCTOR DOLITTLE - - - This is for all my sims 4 pets lovers out there, and it was requested by my sister! You must have the pets expansion pack. Your father was a starving artist and he didn't make that much money but you want so much more for your family; and you also have a healthy obsession with animals. You must own at least one cat and one dog, challenging right? Knowing you wont ever make the money you can go out and get yourself a business loan so you can open your own vet clinic! You must maintain a successful vet clinic while keeping your family happy and having positive relationships with each family member and pet. Subtract 500 dollars every Friday from your family funds to pay back your loan until your heir reaches the age of teenager. For example if you have 1500 simoleons in your family funds you will type in the cheat 'money 1000' which will set your family funds to 500 simoleons less than what it was before you made your payment. WE KNOW LOANS CAN BE A KILLER! MAKE THAT MONEY!
FAMILY & LOVE: Must have at least two children but you may have as many as you like, your youngest child will be your heir you may not choose a child.
CHILDREN: Your heir can have any traits you want BUT they must have the family oriented trait!
GENERATION NINE
THE SINGLE PARENT - - - Did you know that there are approximately 13.7 million single parents in the U.S.? That number represents approximately 26% of children under 21 in the U.S. today. This generation is for all the kids like me that grew up with a single parent. Having the Parenthood expansion is helpful but not required! You will spend this generation supporting your child and doing as many things/activities with them that you possibly can.
CAREER: You may have any career you like, this part is completely up to you just keep in mind it needs to leave you enough time to spend with your child because that is the challenge after all is balancing work and family!
FAMILY & LOVE: This generation you will only have ONE child and you may not be married or dating. For story purposes you can marry, have a child, and then divorce but they have to move out!
CHILDREN: If you happen to have twins you can choose which one is your heir. You must have a full positive relationship with your child by the time they become a teenager and keep it that way into young adulthood.
GENERATION TEN
CONGRATS SIMMER!! - - - Wow you did it! That was a roller coaster huh? For this last generation you will be wrapping up this little adventure (unless you grew attached to the legacy, by all means keep going!) To reward you for even making it this far this generation is going to be whatever you want it to be! What have you been wanting to explore in the sims? What have you not done yet? Lets think outside the box. You still must do a bump in the road and a good karma!
BUMP IN THE ROAD
(If you get something that doesn't correlate correctly with your generational challenges, roll again!)
1: DEATH IN THE FAMILY: You must kill off someone in your family, not including your current heir/founder, and your future heir for that generation. You must do this before your heir reaches young adult hood. Number off your other family members (husband/wife, and other children) roll the random dice which will be linked at the bottom of the post. YOU MUST KILL OFF WHO EVER CORRELATES WITH THE RANDOM NUMBER YOU ROLLED. NO CHEATING. If you use this in generation one, and you kill off your significant other; you may not remarry.
2: UNEXPECTED EXPENSE: Uh oh, something went wrong. Wether it's an overdue bill, an unexpected traffic ticket, or a medical emergency; something always happens and we end up broke AGAIN. Subtract 800 simoleons from your family funds. Broke now? That sucks. Part of life.
3: WE'VE BEEN ROBBED!: Some low life broke into your house while you were gone! They took every piece of movable furniture. This excludes large kitchen appliances (fridge, stove, sink, dishwasher ect.) Bathroom furniture (sinks, shower/bath, toilets, ect.) everything else is completely gone. You must delete all the rest of your furniture but keep track of your funds before hand. After you have deleted the furniture type in the cheat 'money moneyamounthere' and replace the exact amount of money you had BEFORE you deleted all your furniture. For example if you had 500 simoleons before the furniture, but 1800 after deleting your furniture you will type in the cheat 'money 500'.
4: SLOW N' STEADY WINS THE DIVORCE: Things become stale in the bed, you start to fight more and more every day with your spouse. Slowly but surely you begin to resent each other. Make your sim and their spouse fight, argue, insult each other SLOWLY build up a negative relationship with them until it reaches enemy status and you are forced to divorce. As a slap in the face you are left with all of the kids, and once a week you must pay spousal support of 150 simoleons a week DON'T FORGET TO PAY OR THEY WILL COME TO COLLECT AND START A FIGHT! If you roll this and you are on GENERATION ONE, you must reroll. You may remarry.
5: DIPSHIT ADOPTION: Your druggy uncle just called from prison. He's at it again, and he got the life sentence. Guess what you get out of it? His devil spawn. You must adopt a toddler, try to get one with negative traits such as hotheaded, loner, slob, ect. Have either a negative relationship with the child, or a neutral one. Make them act out such as make messes, fail classes, skip school, start fights, ect. As they age up you cannot give them positive traits such as good, family oriented, neat, ect. This child may not be killed, you must keep it until your heir becomes of age and you move on to the next generation. SORRY.
6: UP IN FLAMES: Guess who left the stove on, thats right, it was you. You can either some how light your house on fire WITHOUT killing anyone, OR you can take the easy way out and bulldoze your entire lot. If you light your house on fire you must let it burn without putting it out; remember there are no firefighter NPCs in the sims 4. I don't know how much the fire spreads so thats on you guys. IF you just bulldoze your entire lot you may not give yourself any extra money, you must basically start over with whatever funds you have left, because obviously you didn't get home owners insurance, that bites. No family members die in the fire.
7: LETTING YOURSELF GO: So you got depressed, and you ate all the ice cream. Again. With cake. Needless to say, the pounds keep packin' on. You must gain weight. There are many ways in the game you can do so, you just have to look them up because I aint yo mama. You may not exercise. That's it. You're a liddol fluffy now and their ain't no goin' back. SORRY, THAT'S HOW THE COOKIE CRUMBLES. You may not roll again, don't be a pansy and just eat some cake. You thiccccc.
8: WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS: Nah I ain't talkin' about the weather. You're spouse left you, and it went surprisingly in your favor and he didn't take all your money! But now you are on the prowl lookin' for a new boo. You had a night out on the town and met yourself a tall drink of water who said they had a PHAT bank account. After falling in fake love to get their money one sad morning you wake up and that tall drink of water poured all over your already sad life by draining your bank account. You are left with nothing but whats in your NOT phat wallet. (300 simoleons) Shit happens bro, stop bein' a ho. If you already have children you may add an extra 100 simoleons for each child you have. For example if you have 3 kids you will have 600 simoleons left in your family funds. If your generation requires you be married to the same person the whole time, roll again.
9: THE GAME OF LIFE: You just keep messing up don't cha? From here on out any time you're given a prompt for your career and the results effect you negatively, you have to take 100 simoleons out of your family funds. Sucks huh? maybe you shouldn't fuck around at work or get on your bosses bad side. Sorry buddy, get your shit in line!
10. NO BABIES 4 U: Want to have children of your own with your spouse? Too bad so sad. Any children you have must be adopted, no trying for a baby in that bush for you! They must be at the lowest age that is adoptable. No name changes, you may change their appearance (clothing, hair, accessories, ect.) but not race/skin-tone/facial features. (does not apply if you are in the first generation, roll again.)
GOOD KARMA
(If you get something that doesn't correlate correctly with your generational challenges, roll again!)
1: FOUND SOME CHEDDAR: Just walkin' down the street mindin' your own business, singin' your favorite song, you look down and what do you see? 100 simoleon bill! You look around and notice nobody is looking.. so what do you do? You grab that shit and run. CONGRATS!~
2: TO YOU, FROM THE STORK: As if you didn't have enough kids already, one night your spouse rolls over in bed and begs you to have yet another child with their crazy ass. And what do you say? SURE WHY NOT. You will add another child to the required amount of children for this generation. For example; if the generation requires you have three children, you must now have 4.
3: POT O' GOLD: Thanks family member i've never met! You just got a letter in the mail letting you know your great great great grand- whatever, just left you 10,000 simoleons in their will. LOOK AT YOU MOVIN' UP IN THE WORLD. Thanks whatever your name is!
4: EARLY RETIREMENT: WOW! Your boss must either really like you, or really want you out of the way. He/She just gave you enough money to retire early! Give your self 200,000 simoleons and quit yo job! (You must wait until atleast level 6 of your current career before you are eligible to cash dat phat check!) If the gernerational rules require you complete your profession you must roll again, SORRY BRUH.
5: FAMILY VACATION: The hustle and bustle of the town/city life is really grinding down your family. If you don't have two days off in a row, call in sick and take your family on a camping trip! Must stay at least one night. If you do not have outdoor retreat, just take a couple days off and spend some quality time with the fam bam.
6: ANGEL ADOPTION: Wow, the nest sure is gettin' empty. It's time to stock that shit back up. Adopt yourself another bundle of joy at the precious age of toddler. You must do this after all of your kids are grown to at least teen stage, no matter which child you chose for your heir THINK AGAIN. Because this liddol angel is now your only chance at a decent heir. You may give them a make over to look any way you want, and you may choose who you adopt. They cannot have negative traits, but they are the sweetest thing since great grammys cherry pie. Must have all A's in elementary and high school.
7: CHANGE OF PACE: Sometimes you just need new scenery. Your whole family came together and decided it was time to sell that house, and move to a new town! You must have a whole new house you may buy one or build one it is your choice. I suggest selling all your furniture from the previous house to put towards your new house!
8: ADOPT A FURBABY: Whether you already have a pet or not you must get another. You may adopt from your phone or computer, OR you may adopt a stray! Any breed or animal. BUT you may not change their gender, name, or appearance. Never fret, you may have more than one pet.
9: THE DEAN'S LIST: You must be either really smart, or really talented. Why? Because you were just awarded a scholarship to you college of choice. Using a cheat code at the beginning of your generation you may promote yourself TWICE at the beginning of your first career as if you had attended college and gotten a better starting position/salary. The cheat code is 'careers.promote careername' for example if you are an astronaut you will type in 'careers.promote astronaut' TWICE.
10: HIDDEN ADVENTURE: Okay i'm sorry kiddos, you are gonna have to do a little researching for this one! In this generation you have to uncover your towns hidden location/secret area. For example if you live on Oasis Springs the Forgotten Grotto has two different entrances that can only be accessed by Sims that have level 10 in the Handiness skill. The entrances can be found in Desert Bloom Park –far behind the park– and also down the cliff behind the Landgraab Mansion. A surprise awaits. They aren't hard to find if you google them and they are so interesting!
Let’s use the tag #LifeGameLegacy so I can see your liddol babies doing my challenge! You can find the random number generator here.

Top 10 Reasons to Go on a Caribbean Cruise with MSC Seaside – I am Aileen
Known as the “Cruise Capital of the World”, Miami has the busiest port in terms of passenger and cruise line traffic — after all, it is the best gateway for a number of Caribbean itineraries, among many others! (MSC Seaside)
With that said, there is an overwhelming number of cruise providers to choose from and they all offer a varying range of perks and services. However, if you want to make the most of your vacation, I would highly recommend trying out the revolutionary MSC Seaside from MSC Cruises.
I had the pleasure of going on this luxurious cruise ship during my recent trip to Miami and it was an amazing experience that did not compromise on the quality of its amenities, services, and many others.
We all want to make the most of any vacation and I would love it if you could have an incredible cruise trip like I did! As such, the following top 10 reasons will show you why MSC Seaside should be your next top option. .
<![CDATA[#bxtitle_1762462209.box-title.box-title-line-middle .title-bar:after, #bxtitle_1762462209.box-title.box-title-line-middle .title-bar:before, #bxtitle_1762462209.box-title.box-title-line-around .title-bar:after, #bxtitle_1762462209.box-title.box-title-line-around .title-bar:before, #bxtitle_1762462209.box-title.box-title-line-around h2 border-color: #ed2665 ]]>
Top 10 Reasons to Cruise with MSC Seaside
#1 – Excellent value with affordable rates and FREE perks
youtube
A lot of people typically believe that cruises are far too expensive, but you’ll be surprised to know that MSC Seaside’s 7-night Caribbean itinerary starts at only $449 per adult — and this Fall, a special 4-night trip to MSC Cruises’ new private island Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, on one of their other next-generation ships, MSC Meraviglia, is as low as $230 per person! This is one of the ship’s first itineraries from Miami after coming to North America for the first time ever.
Families will also be overjoyed with MSC Cruises’ “Kids Sail FREE” fare program wherein children 11 and under can sail for FREE along with two paid adults in the same stateroom. This promo is available for select MSC Cruise itineraries including several routes on the MSC Seaside! As such, this could surely be one of your least expensive and best value vacations yet!
The fun doesn’t stop there because the ship also offers other special packages. Make sure to check their deals that cover all-inclusive plans, drink packages, exclusive discounts (for military and civil service rates), and so much more. [Check here for more details]. .
#2 – Elegant staterooms and suites
Combining comfort and style, MSC Seaside’s stateroom options can cater to just about anyone; not to mention that the balconies are quite spacious with an area of up to 269 square feet! You’re sure to have a fun time cruising at sea with the following kinds of staterooms.
To date, they have the following options:
MSC Yacht Club Royal Suite: 667 sq. ft. with balcony, separate living area and private whirlpool bath
MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Suite: 269 sq. ft. with balcony
MSC Yacht Club Interior Suite: 226 sq. ft.
Modular Connected Staterooms for families or groups: 2 or 3 connecting staterooms each with own bathroom and balcony (accommodates up to 10 people)

Suite: from 182 sq. ft. to 301 sq. ft. with balcony
Balcony: from 172 sq. ft. to 269 sq. ft. with balcony
Ocean View: 182 sq. ft.
Interior: from 150 sq. ft. to 301 sq. ft.
*MSC Seaside also offers staterooms for guests with disabilities or reduced mobility and they are often larger. .
#3 – Varied Caribbean itinerary choices
The Caribbean is comprised of a lot of islands and I can understand if you couldn’t decide where to go. Fret not though, because MSC Seaside covers both Eastern & Western Caribbean destinations given how they offer unique experiences that will let you make the most out of those long white sandy beaches and clear turquoise seas!
To start off, if you check this link you can choose a cruise that stops in places like the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and Mexico — or you can sail off on a route that goes to the Bahamas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and St. Maarten. However, if you want to mix all these destinations together, you can absolutely go on a longer cruise that spans for 14 nights!
Want something unique? This November, MSC Seaside will begin sailing to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Cruises’ new and exclusive Bahamian eco-friendly private island.
To top it off, every port of call you visit has its own set of exciting excursions that allow you to discover the destinations like a local to further enrich your stay! .
#4 – Tons of family fun — especially for the kids!
MSC Seaside caters to people of all ages and families in particular will love the amenities that are catered specially for them!
For starters, the ship has a large interactive multi-story waterpark with four (4) water slides, including two racing slides with see-through loops that extend over the side of the ship and a 367-foot water slide with lights and music going down in single and double slide tubes. At the Forest Aquaventure Park (Deck 18) as well, you will find an AquaPlay area catered for little kids and an adventure trail too.
If the young ones had enough of the waters and the adults need time by themselves, there are even Kids Clubs for all different ages:
Baby Club: For 1 to 3 year olds, designed in partnership with Chicco®.
Mini Club: For 3 to 6 year olds, created in partnership with LEGO®.
Juniors Club: For 7 to 11 year olds, created in partnership with LEGO®.
Teens Clubs: There are two for this. One is for 12 to 14 year olds and the other is for 16 to 17 year olds. They serve not only as a gaming room but also as a cinema among many others.
Smack in the middle of these club rooms is Doremiland where families can play and interact together through the varied program and activities that they offer. Some of the many events that the ship also holds are a ‘Talent Show’ at the main theater, family movie night, family sports competition and a Lego Family Fun Night.
Still want more? Head on over to deck 7’s Arcade Games & Bowling area where anyone can enjoy the 2 full-sized bowling alleys, play games on the arcade machines, try the F1 simulator, or go in the interactive XD cinema! .

Personally, I love their Balinese massage, Thalassotherapy pool and thermal area — I had the chance to try them out while I was on MSC Seaside and by the end of the day, I was surely begging for more of it all!
For the fitness buffs out there, you can also keep up with your workout goals with the ship’s state-of-the-art Sports Center that has spectacular sea views and leading-edge equipment in partnership with Technogym. But if you want some sun, there is an open air Sports Arena on the topmost deck where you can play basketball or soccer!
On the other hand, if you want a different way to blow off steam, MSC Seaside has a range of stores to satiate the shopaholic in you: from jewelry to branded watches, you’ll find it all on board! .
#7 – Spectacular waterfront design and bridges
The incredible thing about MSC Seaside is how it can easily be its own seaside town! After all, with its spectacular wide design as well as the number of al fresco lounge areas that it has, sailing through the Caribbean seas will be a joy to do as you go through your daily itinerary.
There are even some incredible glass bridges spread out on the cruise ship that will easily make you feel like you’re walking on air:
Infinity Bridges: (Deck 8) Set on both sides of the ship, they are like mini versions of the…
Bridge of Sighs: (Deck 16) Towering above the open expanse of deck 7’s South Beach Pool, this has got to be one of my favorite spots on MSC Seaside and it’s obviously not only because of its design but also because of how picturesque the view is! This is obviously not for the faint-hearted (like me), but it’s worth going through it at least once! .
#8 – Wide range of entertainment spaces and programs
Every day, there are a hundred of things that can keep guests of MSC Seaside busy and entertained!
Daily programs and parties: The crew sets daily activities that anyone could join such as themed parties (e.g. ‘White Party’, ‘Great Gatsby’, etc.), movie nights, dance classes, trivia quizzes, karaoke shows, and so much more!
Theater Shows: There are usually 3 different show times on MSC Seaside’s Metropolitan Theater each evening, and you can easily book your spot for FREE on the MSC for Me application on your phone or on one of the interactive screens throughout the ship. If you ask me, my personal favorite would be ‘Timeless’ which features an amazing tribute to Michael Jackson.
Atrium: This grand 4-storied area might just be the most luxurious spot on MSC Seaside. Apart from catching a live band or DJ on stage, you could also come and enjoy a drink at the Seaside Bar and enjoy the view from its expansive design and views.
TRIVIA: Don’t forget to go through the sparkling staircases that are actually made of Swarovski crystals.
Miami Casino: For some adult fun, there’s always the casino where you can try and win big!
Others: Includes billiard room, library, sports bar, arcade, etc. .
#9 – Fun adrenaline and water activities for all ages
Aside from the Caribbean’s blue waters and white beaches, MSC Seaside has its own water park on board to help keep guests ‘soaked’ with fun (especially on days when the ship is cruising at sea).
South Beach Pool: (Deck 7)
Miami Beach Pool: (Deck 16)
Forest Aquaventure Park: (Deck 18) This is a multi-story aqua park and it is one of the largest and most interactive water attractions at sea! There is an AquaPlay area for the young ones, a long water slide, as well as an adventure trail above it for some added fun!
Just beside the park are two (2) additional water slides that are positioned on each side of the ship. One is a double slide with clear tubes and another which is bigger that could fit two people in for a wild ride!
Jungle Pool: (Deck 18)
MSC Yacht Club Pool: (Deck 19) Exclusively for MSC Yacht Club members, this is found on the top of the ship complete with whirlpool baths
If you’re seeking extra adrenaline, don’t forget to try the two (2) 350-feet zip lines which are said to be the longest at sea! Besides, it’s not everyday that you can do something like this, right? .
#10 – 5-star service and luxurious options
MSC Seaside may be a 5,000-passenger ship but their 24-hour concierge staff will and always be attentive to everyone’s needs! Still, if you want added exclusivity and privacy, you better check out the MSC Yacht Club for a more luxurious cruise experience.
With luxurious staterooms and all-inclusive services, these are only just the beginning to this amazing program. Besides, the MSC Yacht Club also offers a range of superb private facilities such as the Top Sail Lounge (a panoramic lounge with spectacular views), a fully dedicated restaurant, and One Pool Deck (with its own private swimming pool, whirlpool baths, sun deck and bar).
Otherwise, there is an array of other inclusive experiences that you can try as you choose your stateroom:
Bella: The traditional cruise experience where you can indulge in all the wonderful benefits of cruising, including fine dining, world-class entertainment, recreation and more.
Fantastica: All the benefits of the Bella experience plus some extra privileges such as upper deck rooms that are at ideal locations on the ship, early dining options, and 24-hour room service.
Aurea: All the benefits of the Fantastica experience and extras like a FREE drink package, spa package (including two massages per stateroom), access to private sun deck, unlimited use of thermal spa areas, priority boarding, and so many others! .

Some Venture Capital forecasts for 2017
Last week, I put out a few thoughts on Enterprise Technology in 2017. Figuring out where that part of the technology universe is headed is my main focus, and as Semil Shah wisely wrote recently, I think I’m going to make a conscious effort to spend more time blogging and thinking about that — and less time blogging about venture capital navel-gazing. That said, we live in interesting times in the venture world — especially in Europe & Israel — and I wanted to put down a few thoughts as we head into the new year:
Increased diversification into deep-tech leads to more moonshots. Hunter Walk blogged very compellingly about this recently, and I couldn’t agree more. The smart money is starting to get increasingly focused on deep tech innovation. A lot of this — perhaps most of it — is still going to be fundamentally about software — but a lot of it won’t be about software. Some of it is going to be about robotics, agriculture, energy, human machine interface, genomic data analytics, mass customization, synthetic meat/leather/protein, or other very non-traditional areas of research, productization, and investment. I’m especially excited by the intersection of software with these non-traditional areas — as I think that’s likely to be where innovation is coupled with superior investment returns. The trick for all of us — founders and investors alike — is to stay disciplined. As an industry, we’ve seen what happens when no one really does their diligence.
Globalization of the venture eco-system. I absolutely loved Brad Feld’s recent post “startups everywhere.” He hits the nail on the head. Great companies are going to start everywhere, and then they are going to go global by locating themselves in the right place in the right way to win. As an American VC based overseas, that has been the underpinning of my career for over a decade -and it’s great to see US VCs increasingly taking note. Thank you, Brad!
SaaS everywhere… Over the past decade, SaaS has emerged as the dominant business model for software delivery — and it’s here to stay. As a result, we are going to be witness to a tremendous expansion of the SaaS market — a trend that is already ongoing. Some SaaS startups are going to attack industry verticals, displacing some horizontal SaaS vendors (as Veeva did for pharma CRM, for example). Other SaaS startups are going to bring the benefits of software/ML to deeply underserved industries: field service, energy, agriculture, transportation, oil & gas, construction. Yet others are going to harness new IT architectures (like APIs and microservices) to displace SaaS 1.0 vendors that don’t move quickly enough to adapt.
… but SaaS mythology starts to subside. The flip side of the SaaS coin is that SaaS has also become a kind of cult. Founders (and VCs) talk about SaaS metrics, milestones, growth hacks in a distressingly homogenous way. SaaS is just the new word for software. But the greatest SaaS software businesses are going to have to do some deep independent thinking on the best way to bring their specific technology to their unique market. I’m not saying there’s no benefit to learning from others (or even to generalizations), but SaaS has too often been an excuse for lazy thinking. No, $1M ARR is not going to guarantee you an A round. And no, achieving negative net churn is not enough to get you a nine-figure acquisition (although it helps). My expectation (and hope) is that 2017 sees a de-emphasis of the empty mythology of SaaS and a refocus on the fundamentals of building technology companies.
The “seed/micro VC” category becomes a mature part of the VC eco-system, and expands to Europe/Israel. In the US, there are now over 300 micro VCs (see post and data by Samir Kaji), with another 470 or so raising funds currently. In Europe and Israel, I think we are going to see something similar with a number of new funds getting formed (see this dataset by Yannick Roux). There are already a few “micro VCs” operating in the geography, and I expect we’ll see a few more. In the US, a lot of these funds are mature enough that they are going to need to show performance soon — and that’s going to lead to a bit of a slowdown both in new micro-VC formation and in the pace at which some of these new players can raise new funds. Small funds means early-stage. Early-stage means long holding periods. And “too early to tell” can mean delayed fundraising. In Europe, we’ve seen some new “sub-$100M” micro-VCs as well as some more traditionally-sized $100M-$200M funds. In Europe and Israel, as in the US, I think we are going to see a slow but sure flight to quality. I think that starts in earnest in 2017 in the US and begins to be felt on this side of the Atlantic as well. The emergence of the category is a great thing for the eco-system in general — and the most professional and disciplined funds in the category will do very well.
A stabilization (or even a slowdown?) in tourist capital. 2015–2016 were characterized by a very marked increase in “tourist” venture capital — organizations that are not traditionally VC investors making large (and often very risky) bets. These new participants include PE firms, investment banks, and all manner of corporates. In addition, we’ve seen large amounts of capital flowing into European & Israeli deals from investors based in China, India, and Russia. A lot of these investments are not justified by strategic considerations, and too many of them are correlated with unsustainably high risk. Why is this happening? Corporates are under pressure to show innovation. Capital in China and Russia is actively looking for safe havens in the West (but, often, not in the US). Sovereign wealth funds and wealth managers are desperate to find returns in a low-interest environment. Early-stage investors benefit from paper mark-ups and can be far too acquiescent. For a lot of these investors, any theoretical risk-adjusted return will do — at least on paper. But none of this represents sustainable or rational behavior — and none of it suggests particularly strong returns. I don’t expect this flow of capital to decrease, but I do expect the pace to slow down as valuations get reset and some high-profile failures remind us of the inherent risk in startup investing.
Call it what you want, but the “smart Series A” crunch is here. It’s really hard to get data on this, but anecdotal evidence suggests that early-stage companies are finding it increasingly difficult to raise the first $5M+ institutional venture round from credible VC investors. I do not think this has to do with a lack of capital at the Series A stage. I think it has do to with a surplus of funding at the seed stage and a renewed discipline by smart venture investors at the Series A level. There is absolutely no shortage of capital in the world that is eager to invest in startups. But when you restrict your lens to the smart money — however you want define it — I think raising the Series A round is tougher than ever. The reasons for this are threefold: First, as the cost/difficulty of getting a startup off the ground have plummeted, the sheer number of seed-stage startups (including startups doing exactly the same thing in exactly the same geography) are skyrocketing. (I dare you to count how many startups in Europe alone that are using “advanced AI” to “match job candidates with employers” raised capital in 2015–2016.) Second, the availability of seed financing and other forms of startup acceleration/support have expanded dramatically — driven both by enthusiastic seed investors and corporates/governments seeking to solve their own problems by encouraging early-stage startups. Third, smart venture investors are looking down the line towards the exit and up at the massive funnel of seed deals seeking A rounds — and they are wisely throttling way back. $1M in ARR just ain’t worth what it used to be worth, true differentiation is hard to find, and unit economics matter more than ever.
Corporate innovation theater persists, but entrepreneurs get serious and corporates will follow. Recently, a colleague of mine counted nearly 100 corporate acceleration programs in Israel alone. Similar patterns are evident throughout Europe (and the US as well). Some of these programs are truly great and add a lot of value. Some of them are mostly “innovation theater” (my favorite catch-phrase of 2016). Some of them are both truly valuable and some form of theater. But the key point is that this flurry of activity is not sustainable. The corporates will continue to pursue it — but the best entrepreneurs have always been focused on far more serious engagement with corporates. A $20K over-sized printed check is nice, but a trial deployment and access to corporate data for algorithm training is far more valuable. Corporates are eventually going to de-emphasize the innovation theater of acceleration programs and find more serious ways to engage with a small number of deeply impactful startups — through partnerships, acquisitions, and — gasp — paying for actual products. Coca-Cola recent decision to close its accelerator is, I think, a sign of the coming seriousness.
The limits of lean. One phrase that fewer and fewer people seem to be using is “lean startup,” and I think that is for good reason. It is true that the costs of setting up a startup and delivering an early version of a product are lower than ever before. Additionally, cloud platforms like AWS and Google have dramatically reduced the “CoGS” for storage-intensive and compute-intensive applications. But that doesn’t mean that the cost of getting a startup to sustainable growth have come down meaningfully. It just means that there is more competition. Enterprise products still, often, require enterprise sales teams and partnership teams of talented and experienced professionals. Engineering talent is not cheap, and true enterprise-grade products get complex pretty fast. Part of the “SaaS mythology” (see point 5) is the “lean startup fallacy:” It is dramatically cheaper to start up, but it is not dramatically cheaper to scale up. The upshot of all this is that we’re going to see fewer, larger rounds up and down the lifecycle.
Increased focus on the metrics that matter. As an investor, I’ve started to develop a vanity metric filter. The culture around vanity metrics is so pervasive that companies are under massive pressure to show big meaningless numbers — even when the small meaningful numbers are brilliant. With the “smart series A crunch” upon us, I think the best investors and entrepreneurs are increasingly going to engage in a meaningful, honest dialogue about metrics and milestones. This can only be a good thing for the broader eco-system. Some metrics I tend to care about include: (a) anything related to the unit economics of sales; (b) ROI and payback time from the customer’s perspective, © cohort analysis of customer quality/engagement, and (d) the growth and quality of the pipeline (just how valuable area all those free/early/trial customers likely to be?) and, yes, (e) churn and net churn where applicable.
Increased acquisitions by traditional industrial players. With startups beginning touch ever more industries in ever more impactful ways, it feels inevitable that we’ll see an increased level of acquisitions by traditional industrials, corporates, and legacy technology companies. Some of these will be smallish “AI acquihires,” but many will be deeply strategic, large, and lucrative for VCs and founders. As always, the scale of the largest acquisitions are going to be determined mostly by the extent to which the management team has successfully built a growing and profitable business. For more on this idea, see Hunter Walk’s recent post on the topic.
The weak perish, the strong exit, and the strongest go public. In the strong fundraising climate of 2016, many later-stage startups prioritized raising more money over seeking an exit. I think we’ll see this shift in 2017. Many businesses (especially SaaS businesses in competitive markets with poor sales economics and insufficient customer no lock-in) will either fail or achieve low-value exits. Strong SaaS businesses with solid growth prospects will increasingly seek exits in the $100M-$500M range instead of raising that $50M expansion round. This will finally start to lock in some very nice returns for early-stage investors. And the absolute strongest players will, I think, start to warm up to the idea of going public and achieving the combination of liquidity and long-term independence that being a public company brings with it.
So that’s some of what I’ll be watching for and looking for in 2017 when it comes to the broader venture market. Let me know if I’m missing something…
My AngelList syndicate to back the best in European & Israeli enterprise companies is now one of the largest syndicates based outside the US. We are now at well over $1M in backing per deal.
The syndicate has made five investments so far: all oversubscribed and all with quality co-investors. I’d be honored if you’d consider backing the syndicate — you’ll be in pretty good company and there are quite a few awesome companies in the pipeline…

[Check here for more details]. .

The Caribbean is comprised of a lot of islands and I can understand if you couldn’t decide where to go.

Smack in the middle of these club rooms is Doremiland where families can play and interact together through the varied program and activities that they offer. Some of the many events that the ship also holds are a ‘Talent Show’ at the main theater, family movie night, family sports competition and a Lego Family Fun Night.

To start off, go for a pampering oil massage or treat your hands and toes with some good ol’ manicure or pedicure. Wanna add pizzazz to your night out? Head on over to the hair salon or barber shop to style your locks! The choices really are endless here.

As such, the following top 10 reasons will show you why MSC Seaside should be your next top option. .

MSC Yacht Club Interior Suite: 226 sq. ft.
Modular Connected Staterooms for families or groups: 2 or 3 connecting staterooms each with own bathroom and balcony (accommodates up to 10 people)
Two-Bedroom Grand Suite: 527 sq. ft. with balcony
Grand Suite: from 344 sq. ft. with balcony
Suite with whirlpool bath: 301 sq. ft. with balcony and private whirlpool bath
Head on over to deck 7’s Arcade Games & Bowling area where anyone can enjoy the 2 full-sized bowling alleys, play games on the arcade machines, try the F1 simulator, or go in the interactive XD cinema! .
#5 – Over 10 dining areas and 20 bars/lounges
I’ve never had so much food in my life until I set foot on the MSC Seaside! With over 10 unique dining areas offering gourmet dishes (including 5 specialty restaurants) and 20 bars / lounges, dining and refreshment is surely as varied as it can be!

#6 – State-of-the-art health and wellness facilities
After you’ve had your fun, head on over to the MSC Aurea Spa to relax your mind and body. There is a massive choice of spa and beauty treatments in store not only for you but even for your children! To start off, go for a pampering oil massage or treat your hands and toes with some good ol’ manicure or pedicure. Wanna add pizzazz to your night out? Head on over to the hair salon or barber shop to style your locks! The choices really are endless here.
Fantastica: All the benefits of the Bella experience plus some extra privileges such as upper deck rooms that are at ideal locations on the ship, early dining options, and 24-hour room service.
Aurea: All the benefits of the Fantastica experience and extras like a FREE drink package, spa package (including two massages per stateroom), access to private sun deck, unlimited use of thermal spa areas, priority boarding, and so many others! .
