“When the company CEO had arranged the meeting about having to work with these death row inmates, nobody in the company had the guts to directly work with them. In fact, a lot of the people who did get assigned quit working with them within a week. So… One of the pharmacy workers decided to shove me into it since I am the one man brave enough to deliver to that Shizuoka family… Why not death row inmates, right? Which kinda makes me the unfortunate deliveryman. Ahaha…”

“Mashiro-san is one intimidating guy. From what I know outside of the medical things I can’t disclose to you all, he was a hitman from around the period of time when the world was fighting each other. Now I don’t know a lot about hitmen, outside of some cheesy puns. But you know something funny? I can’t seem to manage to joke around him at all. Probably because I feel like one wrong move and I’d be in some deep shit.”

“Thankfully Touya is easier to handle. He likes the simple, goofy puns I bring into the visits between them and their doctors. Speaking of which, the doctors do praise me a lot for the inventive work that I bring to my company. The main reason I was selected to help this team mostly stems from this young man’s refusal to take normal medications. I don’t know what exactly happened for him to become like that, but… N-Nevermind. Let’s just call him a troublesome little man and leave it at that!”

Rintaro Himura

“Rintaro-kun is probably the most sane of the group. But he doesn’t really enjoy my joking around... Not that he hates my jokes. He just has bigger concerns whenever we do meet up. He’s been very open about a lot of things, from the reason for needing medication to the levels of care he has for his sister and newfound family members. If the other two didn’t bother me so much, I’d say they are a pretty adorable family. But that isn’t the case…”

“As the only one in the team who can cook more than the basics. I'm the one usually in charge of making dinner for all of us. However, shopping in grocery stores is out of the question for obvious reasons. So I'm forced to get a shipment of food ordered to the house. Personally, the Rikiya farm is my go-to choice for vegetables and fruits. Although I do this under an alias because frankly, I dont want to be cut off and lose access to some of the best produce in the country.” 

Yano Ietsuna

“I have to question what gods Ietsuna angered in a past life to have met both Touya and Rintaro. He easily has some of the worst luck I have ever seen. Other than surviving them Ietsuna is not particularly noteworthy. His habit of crying at every little thing sounds like an annoyance to be around and I know that if I were to spend too much around him. I would snap his neck in half as if he was a particularly troublesome canary.”

“Ah, Kensaku. The doctor who’s responsible for all the medicine in our house. Touya, Rintaro, and even Akari use his company’s medication for their ailments. For that, I am grateful. He is a good man much better than me.” Akihisa pauses. “Although for good or for bad his name has been whispered by some of the scientists of Chuohku. For what? I could not say but I did hear the word “drops” whenever he was spoken about. The good doctor has secrets ones that even he doesn't seem to know about if what I hear is true.”

“This team doesn't seem like they'll go far in the D.R.B. There are people in this tournament far more dangerous. I am curious though, just what business do they have in the D.R.B? Why would Tohoten force them to enter? …I wonder if it's because they want something from Kensaku and whatever work he did on these “drops” I’ve heard about.”

Why does this remind me of Eco's Foucault's Pendulum?

Small town murder mystery where it eventually turns out that literally everyone in town is a member of some secret society or sinister cult – except it's not one big secret society, it's a bunch of little ones, ranging from as many as a couple dozen members to as few as three. Each secret society is aware of their own immediate allies and rivals, but none of them have the complete picture of how extensive the town's secret society problem is, nor do they know that every single resident is a member of at least one. Some residents are members of multiple secret societies. Some residents are unwittingly members of multiple secret societies, having mistakenly concluded that Secret Society A is Secret Society B's hidden inner circle, when in fact they're unrelated. There's at least one pair of secret societies whose leaders each believe that the other is a false front that they set up to distract their enemies. This goes on for five seasons.
