I’m so eepy , my body has already enough with Christmas.

My throat hurts 😢 I hope this won’t spiral into a full blown cold or that currently going around virosis. That would suck. Some of my work colleagues had that and were sick for 3 weeks due to it 💀

Pray for me that I won’t get sick.

Besides of that I’m probably over exerting myself these days. It’s such chaos. So much family in the same place is overwhelming.

I was at church tonight with family and was nice but I think it might have been a bit too cold inside the church. I could see my own breath while singing carols.

At some point I was stimming and rocking myself left to right in church not really caring if people are judging bcs idk I needed that to soothe myself.

My work schedule is so weird. I had to work on the 23rd. 24th/25th/26th I have free. 27th I have to work again. Then 30th I have to work. 31st and 1st is free. 2nd/3rd I have to work. 6th is free again.

The thing is tho that Fam is here so idk if I’ll get some days to myself where I can just not do anything and just hide in my room and sleep or do stuff to relax and unwind.

I feel my fight or flight is constantly active now where family is around bcs what if something goes wrong or there is idk shit happening, fights , arguments. This year it’s very patchwork family dynamics happening. Still stressing myself out if everyone has a good time or not. Even if it’s not my responsibility.

Oh yeah I accidentally ate fish and it was a horrible experience. I thought the red beet salad was red beet salad but after I had 2 bites I was like hm this tastes fishy until the 3rd bite where it was pungent obvious fish taste and I asked my mom is there fish in it and she said yes. I jumped up ran to the toilet spit out the bite I had in my mouth , had to try my best to not end up gagging and puking, brushed my teeth and irrigated my teeth and mouth with the water thingy to get rid of taste of fish.

After I came back I saw my mom removed the red beet salad from my plate already 😂 Ahahah.

I’m not gonna do anything tomorrow until the family event we have. I’ll sleep in to heal my body to avoid to get sick.

Who decided to give me this broken body? I am having a difficult time with it. Everything hurts 😩

Walking is so exhausting and at this point I’m scared if I need an aid but I’m not fully accepting yet that I need aid for support and rather end up in a p.e.m even if that’s super not okay and brain rot move.

Some days I’m scared to fall asleep bcs I think I will die in my sleep 😭 that’s how horrible I’m feeling and I think this is how old people feel before they die.

I’m missing my cat so much 😭 it’s the first Christmas without him :(( he was only 3 years old and died 122 days/4months ago 💔

But a globe fell from the lowest part of the Christmas Tree and I think that was him saying hi 🥹❤️

Phantomarine Live reread: Prologue

I'm anticipating the reread before the chapter finishes cause I want to read it now again, altho I wanted to wait the chapter to be over to have a cleaner finish line for mental order and to avoid posing questions to things that would be maybe have more ground to speculate on or outright be answered in a few days This is my first time rereading Phantomarine, so if anyone is actually goint to read these posts expect me to come to realizations about stuff that everyone knew ages ago probably, also it's my first time liveblogging something since a friend suggested it could be appreciated, I am not convinced there would be interested but it can't hurt I guess. That said I hate the idea of clogging with posts and like keeping stuff a bit more tidy, so I'll post one post per chapter with my thoughts, silly ramblings and whatever comes to my mind that I feel like sharing while trying to put my thoughts in order

First thing I'll not here with a few examples and try to not say everytime, but I can't help seeing how the royal family brands EVERYTHING with the Manta, I swear you could fill a where's waldo book by searching the mantas in Phantomarine's pages at this A manta hat, manta drawer, manta desk, and a manta polo in just the first pages, I swear they have a disney park-esque gift shop outside the palace

Bonus neat things, the candle has the same pattern as Cheline's dress and there is what I guess is a samoyede on Irving's shirt

Next thing is something I hadn't noticed before but I've seen already people point out in the comments now, Irving having very clearly pink eyes, at first I thought it might have been lighting but in the pages where he is alive they are very clearly pink, and even when in shock the characters get drawn with pinprick irises, while the others get black dots he has pink and is even more blatant in the shot with the Fata morgana stabbing them where he is eye to eye with a Fata with the same eyes

Bonus: alive Lani is very cute

I pointed the next thing in another post but I love how Cheline wanted to be sure to scapegoat the Fata Morgana so much she painted the arrows and bow too with Cheth's name bands(confirmed to be painted on by the transcript too altho it was the only possible reason they had those bad with what we know now), also I love that the cyan outline was faintly on the Fata Morgana's eye from the beginning

I am also getting suspicious about the ghosts being blue and the veins(referred as such in the transcript) that spread from the bite being purple, tho I don't have a concrete or sound thought about this

Also, something I love a lot in comics is paneling so some of this won't be thoughts but just panels that are really pretty or fun or creative here I love how the action flows very well, having many details making what happens readable such as the "magic" squares making phae's body on the bottom edge of the silouhette in the middle also appear on the heart, showing the wound being "repaired"

Something I had completely glossed over was Phae's middle name being Augusta, and I do find it possible to have a reading on it, as Augustus was the name and title that Octavian took as the first emperor of rome, the member of a what can be considered a royal lineage establishing the name for himself and becoming a key turning point in the history of an empire, just as I can see Phae become the turning point for the history of her reign, a change of the guard and of the status quo of the kingdom she watches over

End in the end, to finish the prologue of this reread, a funny typo Cheth appears, tipping his fedora: "M'Phaedra"

go watch gran hotel right now if you haven’t, I’m currently watching it and am completely addicted. it’s a spanish show but just as enjoyable to watch with english subtitles, and has everything you could want in a period drama tv show - mystery, amazing lead romance, morally gray characters, and so much family drama you can’t keep track of it all. please please give it a shot, I desperately need people to scream about this show with 🙏🙏

Me working on a chapter realizing I've forgotten to write Dr. Yueh into Echoes in our Blood as a reference or even foreshadowing and now I'm at a part in the story where he's deeply supposed to be included

I want to do something longer about this but one of the things I really enjoy doing with a modern Nicki is to make him something of antithesis of what you consider a Ricean vampre to be. I think it puts him into a more interesting contrast with the others, especially Louis, Lestat and Armand as the original vampires in the series.

Louis is gentleman death, kills indiscriminently but will lose himself to his books, is not overly concerned about his appearance (although Armand and Lestat do seem to make sure he's dressed well), he's generally neat and quiet and dignified by comparison to the more boisterous Lestat who more embodies what I think of when I think fo Ricean vampires. He's clean cut but mischievious, wild and challenging but deep and meaningful, he's the mess of contradictions - they all are really. Armand is also someone who reinvents himself for his eras, his era identity shapes around his personal identity but he is a tech nerd, he does love the arts, he likes to feel safe and he is by nature a caretaker. He knows the rules of vampirism and largely sticks to them.

So Nicolas (at least the way I'm doing him) is a contrast to that. I don't think he leans into the regality that attracts Lestat or Armand or feels a lack of care about his general appearance like Louis but rather leans into that 80's and 90's post-punk and goth subcultures. It's about looking distressed but in a way that is expressive of that darkness that tends to plague him. Leans heavily into 'everything is fucked so might as well look pretty' mixed with 'making something flawed makes it better because purity is that most heinous of sins, it's boring'.

I also think he tends to break taboo's around the vampire experience. They are by and largely neat eaters, after all, blood is sacred. I think neither are true with him, blood is something played with so he probably is the type to use his his nails and his teeth, run his fingers along it and lick them like he's just had ribs because it's grotesque and Not Done and that is something he loves to do.

I think he makes a point never to lie about who he is or what he is but given the era and how he looks, I think that's just accepted as part of his social identity.

I think he prefers to get lost in big cities, in raw art and performances much as Armand did but the more extreme, the better. (I bet he loves the half a cow) I think the main reason he hasn't been caught when it comes to bodies is because he tends to mutilate and stain the ground so it ends to look more like there's a serial killer on the loose. He probably loves the idea he has serial killer lore about himself.

I think ultimately he is a very messy sort of vampire, but he's not stupid. Just obsessive and driven to create, likely feasting on the very artists he likes because consuming them is an ultimate act but also sometimes just because he's left it too late and he Needs To Eat or because they look a little too much like a certain someone he doesn't really try thinking about.

Ultimately, this just makes him really fun and is part of the reason I do want to continue the Nicki Lives series when I've got some time.

thinking about the portal to eow showing up and legend going inside. the chain waits for a few minutes but the portal doesn't appear immediately again like it did for wild.

thinking about the shadow-rift-thing that legend is in during eow being out of the scope of hylia's power therefore the chain has to wait the whole time while fable does eow to get legend back
