(note: original image is from HERE (link) - but I edited it to add a wider variety of options.. also added $3 extra to the total, even though I know that makes it more uneven lol, I thought if you're adding 10 whole extra items, the money to spend should at least be increased slightly, if that makes sense..)
#I would get orange juice. black coffee. AND iced coffee ($3) because I love the variety of having multiple drinks#then sausage and scrambled eggs ($8). Then sauteed mushrooms ($3)....AND... hrm.. then spending the remaining $4 would be hard#I wish I could get waffles (as they are my favorite and are superior in every way compared to pancakes. donuts. etc.) but I'm not willing#to give up the other savory things just to get them. so... then maybe I could get a biscuit or english muffin? and just put jam or#honey butter or something on it so it can be my replacement 'sweet and bready' thing instead of something from the $5 row??#OR I could also just assume that having the orange juice plus iced coffee would provide enough of a 'sweet element' to the meal#(since I largely prefer savory foods. I only like a tiny bit of sweet added for variety) and thus forego any sort of#'bready' thing entirely and just get the bowl of beans/onion/tomato (I'd leave the avocado since I don't like the#texture of them really lol). THEN I'd have $1 left to get the milk or the black tea... increasing my total of random drinks..#which is always the goal of course.. as a chronic ''person who is sipping at 5 different drinks at their desk simultaneously always'' perso#OR... I could just do.. waffle. scrambled eggs. sausage. mushrooms. and black coffee and orange juice.. which is... okay variety#augh... so difficult.. As my Ideal Breakfast is like a buffet type thing or something where you have like 25 different things to choose fro#and can get a little tiny bit of everything. My eating style is very much like.. I'd rather pick at a small amount of a ton of#different things than just have a very large amount of only one or two things. Thats why I LOVE sample platter type stuff.#So it's like... augh... the ideal option would be a tiny portion of EVERYTHING actually lol...#Difficult to choose...#ANYWAY.. Also no idea why I added croissant instead of bagel. I only thought about that afterwards. I do actually like bagels.#I've only ever even had a croissant like 2 times in my entire life. Yet I've had many bagels. For some reason it stuck out in my mind more#when I was considering 'essential breakfast foods' somehow... how could I forget them... bagels my beloved...#Blame it on the hot weather... 'What in the blazes? The sun hath obliterated the concept of bagels from my miind!'#(< meant to be said in a silly overdramatic elderly wizard accent or something)#Also I don't think ''bowl of beans. onion. avocado. and tomatos.'' is necessarily a breakfast classic or something gbhjjh#but I was just trying to think of a versatile vegetable-ish side that could be full of common breakfast additions#so people could do stuff like ''oh I get the toast option and then the bowl of stuff and I put the avocado on the toast'' etc.#Like a mix and match. You could mix ingredients from different parts. You could put scrambled eggs and bacon and onion#on the bread or soemthing. etc. I just feel like something is always missing if a Full Breakfast Spread#doesnt have some sort of onions or beans or mushrooms or asparagus or spinach like... some sort of thing that isn't just eggs and meat and#bread.. you know? lol..#But then again.. I am the Sampling Plate Style Variety Lover and Tiny Portion Of Food Picker so maybe thats just a me thing.

One of my asparagus plants from last year's planting is up w-a-y ahead of any of the others. Purple! I am putting in another row of them right beside this, and enjoying it just as much as I did last year. Not at all, yes.
There is about 4 inches/ 10 cm of decent soil, here, a layer of heavy clay under that, and tons of rocks. All the other rocks I found today were small or moderate, but this one was big, incredibly heavy, and right-smack in my way. It took close to a third of the time I spent gardening today just to deal with this one rock.
I filled the trench partway back in with the better soil, some sand, and a big load of last fall's dead leaves. If life doesn't give you sandy loam, CHEAT!
I also have three big holes dug at the lower end of the asparagus, where there is too much shade from the woodshed. I'm going to plant sweet potatoes there, and hope that the vines run toward the sun and make a nice weed-suppressing layer amongst the mature asparagus stalks. A vertical plant, a spreading, low-growing plant, we'll see if it all works out.
Wet clay. So heavy. It's only fun if you want to take a wet handful and squish up a little paleolithic-style bear figurine.
The peas, radishes, and other cool-tolerant crops are looking hopeful. This will be the first garden since my husband's retirement last fall. He's enjoying it. Will any of the peas actually make it into the house? Ha. Haha.

no one tells you this but once you start cooking a lot you quickly realize the hardest part about cooking has nothing to do with the actual act of cooking. it's when you're cooking more than one thing at a time and you have to time it so it all finishes roughly around the same time. the asparagus will never be done baking at the same time that you have to drain the ravioli that's just a fact of life.

i ate some green bell pepper last night (one of my foods i have a hard time with texture-wise) with a bite of jerk pasta and i actually enjoyed it... the texture is still a bit much for me but i think having bell pepper diced rather than cut into strips would help with that. nevertheless i am proud of myself for continuing to make steps to try foods i usually stray away from - last year i did so with mushrooms and now i'm a mushroom fiend, plus more recently i ate caramelized onions and didn't just scrape them to the side, though im still not a fan. i think another attempt with asparagus or maybe sweet potatoes soon will also be helpful for me but i'll need to work up to it

Eating a "big salad" for lunch and it's gross and I hate it and I want fried chicken or oily stew. Try as I might to force-feed myself vegetables for the nominal sake of health, I Hate them, I have a toddler's palate. Anyway we have spinach, kale, carrots, purple cabbage, roasted broccoli, roasted sweet potato, chickpeas, almonds, and "green goddess" dressing, it's the least objectionable salad one could possibly assemble for my tastes and I'm making that poison sticker Yuck! face with every bite
UPD: taking the L and admitting I do feel much better physically after eating a vegetable for the first time in days lmao

#photo diary#image 1 - pretty sky!.. so many sky photos as always#2 & 3 - baby son keeping me company during one of my Sickness days where I kind of just sit on the floor in a blanket#for hours slowly sipping pedialyte and having applesauce and such lol#He likes to bite the squeezy apple sauce pouches.. and try to steal the heating pad#4. Sky again. lighter more scattered fluffy clouds.#5 - greeting card that I drew at someone's request so they could send it to their elderly family member lol.. It's like.. cats baking#in a kitchen I guess? My eternal curse.. being the number one lover of cats in the world yet still somehow barely having a grasp#on their anatomy so they always look ridiculous when I draw them. I have both drawn and looked at cats for my entire life basically#yet somehow those two things do not come together to make me a good cat artist.. alas..#6 - underpart of an outfit I did (and havent yet posted of course because of my evil backlog of onemillion drafted posts)#I took the main dress off the top but thought the underneath part looked cool on it's own as well#7 - more sky.#8 - Mushroom fettucini alfredo. steak. and grilled asparagus. I managed to complete this project without making my shoulder any worse! Twelve nice, healthy-looking asparagus roots from "Johnny's Select Seeds," the purple variety.
Now I just need to figure out what to do with the extra soil in the wheelbarrow. I have to wait until the asparagus is up to replace it in the bed. Bare-root asparagus must be planted fairly deep, but it can't sprout through 8 inches of soil; you have to plant it with just a little soil covering the roots and then add more as it grows.
Digging all those vines out was a chore.
Quite a few of the ones I planted in a different bed last year are poking up, now! I HOPE they don't get frost-killed. I should fertilize them. Hmm.
