It was thanks to a tip off during this summer's Stoneybatter Festival from Niall Sabongi, the man behind Klaw, Poké and The Seafood Cafe, that we found out about this spot. Being located right next door to Kish Fish, a thriving wholesale fish monger, you know it's going to be good.

With an offering of sushi, Japanese noodles or traditional house dishes like Katsu Curry, this place is a hot spot for office lunches. Closing by 4PM on week days it might be difficult to find the time to visit, but if the tempura was anything to go by it'll be worth it.

A Burrito and three melted cheese cocktails, please.

Hello Boojum, thank you for taking the time out to talk to us. First things first, what is it that makes the burrito so popular? Before we opened there was a definite lack of casual restaurants serving quick, healthy food. The burrito is seen as a treat or a great hangover cure, but doesn’t have the same guilt as a big portion of chips because all the ingredients are fresh. Plus it’s a great feed for a reasonable price, another good reason why people get hooked. What is the secret to making the best burrito? First and foremost it’s about fresh, good quality and authentic food. We import Mexican ingredients, use lots of spices and marinate meats for six hours to get good flavours. Our staffgo through a six month training period where they learn how to serve every meat, salsa and all the extras properly, to the perfect portion and most importantly get lots of practice on how to loving roll the burritos. After that, it’s really up to the customer, people are very passionate when it comes to the filling of their perfect burrito!

Why is the melted cheese so utterly delicious? When is melted cheese ever not utterly delicious?! Cheese: grate for every meal – that’s our motto ;) Have you ever had anyone pass out in your premises from ingesting too much hot sauce? Luckily this has not happened, yet! We do hold an eating contest where teams have to eat a burrito (which has a line of naga chilli sauce it in) as fast as they can. The naga chilli is one of the hottest chillies in the world, so you can imagine how tough it is. So far no one has needed an ambulance though!

Are you ever going to give in and start a delivery service for the hungover masses? Honestly? Probably not; we like seeing our customers faces every day, even the hungover ones. Thank you Boojum, we shall see you soon for food and three melted cheese cocktails.
