𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗹𝗲
A trifle consists of both soft and crunchy layers put on top of each other in a glass or ceramic cup for serving. For this recipe you can switch things up for dietry requirements/preferences. The traditional English food trifle is a layered which contains custard, sponge fingers, sherry soaked cake, fruit, jam and whipped cream.
𝙄𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨
• 50g (2 oz) chocolate flavour Angel Delight
• 300ml (1/2 pt) semi-skimmed milk
• 200g (7 oz) brownies (you can make the brownies yourself or shop buy)
• 400g (2/3 pt) double cream
• 100g (4 oz) chocolate
𝙈𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙙
1) In a bowl, prepare the Angel Delight pudding according to package instructions using the milk.
2) Whip the cream in another bowl until soft peaks form.
3) Crush the chocolate into small pieces and place in another bowl.
4) Crumble the brownies into a large bowl.
5) You are now ready to assemble the trifle. Ideally, you should use portion sized jars or containers.
6) Start layering the pudding by placing the brownies in the base, followed by a layer of chocolate pudding, and cream.
7) Repeat the process by adding as many layers as you can and top with chocolate when the container is full.
Just to note - Angel Delight is a well known brand for chocolate pudding but shops stock their own no name brand as well!
If you don’t have time to prepare your own brownies, you can also consider using cookies, sponge fingers, waffles, wafers etc. Whether it be chocolate or golden vanilla cookies, they’ll both taste great!
𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙞𝙩:
• Mascarpone – this would almost make your dish tiramisu-like. Just need a bit of coffee
• Cream Cheese – your dish would be like a cheesecake in a cup. Simply delicious!
• Crème Fraiche – with acidity, it will cut through the richness of the chocolate. Great with fruit
•Vanilla, caramel or chocolate pudding – just reuse the pudding if you are fan of the Angel Delight
• Fruit coulis – can use these to make your dish lighter, less intense on the calorie count.
• Caramel – rich, intense flavour that will add an extra something

Hey everyone, so tonight I did nachos, but we had no sour cream. So panicking I Googled how to make sour cream, and I found this recipe!
https://www.foodusmaximus.com/recipes/easy-and-quick-sour-cream-how-to-make-sour-cream/
And it worked! The only 0roblem was it hard the consistency of whipped cream, so it looked like that episode of Friends where Rachel makes the trifle out of mince, but it tasted great.

HANNAH GLASSE // AUTHOR
“She was an American author, known as the mother of modern cookbooks. She published ‘The Art of Cooking, Made Plain and Easy’ which was the first cookbook ever written. Her work was intended to teach people how to produce something edible in the kitchen using plain language which even servants would understand. Among her original recipes are the first known curry recipe written in English, as well as three recipes for pilau, an early reference to vanilla in English cuisine, the first recorded use of jelly in trifle, and an early recipe for ice cream. She was also the first to use the term "Yorkshire pudding" in print. It was reprinted within its first year of publication, appeared in 20 editions in the 18th century, and continued to be published until well into the 19th century. She later wrote The Servants' Directory (1760) and The Compleat Confectioner, which was probably published in 1760; neither book was as commercially successful as her first. She also worked as a dressmaker, including for clients like Princess Augusta, the Princess of Wales but ran up excessive debts. She was imprisoned for bankruptcy and was forced to sell the copyright of The Art of Cookery.”

maybe I should list some things that don't (or at least haven't yet made me nauseous) so I can have a go to list? let's see how many I can think of
Edit: couldn't think of many sooo I ended up adding some ideas and thoughts too. It really sucks how little food I could think of that I definitely knew I always like and am pretty much always okay making. I thought I would have more than 3 items on that list before I started listing things I've only made once or less :/ there has to be more that I've made and eaten and consistently enjoyed in the past 3 years, right???? 😓
-peanut butter banana smoothies (must contain lots of ice, can sometimes contain strawberries, must never contain yogurt, spinach, or other berries. definitely no protein powder, blegh. mixed berry smoothies are okay on occasion but do some times make me ick)
-banana pancake (as long as I have old frozen bananas and eggs, this is fast and easy. I can just make one big one and it doesn't take any prep or much clean up. can add vanilla and cinnamon)
-homemade spaghetti (just regular noodles and sauce, definitely include ground beef, can sometimes include veggies like carrot, pepper, or broccoli. do not use chunky sauce or italian sausage)
-viking bacon with toast (soooo good 🤤 onions, apples, bacon, and toast. I should get a smaller thing of bacon and maybe pre-prepped onions and I think I would make this all the time. I should write down the recipe from the youtube video so I can access it easier)
-redwall soup (if I got pre-prepped veggies it would probably go a lot quicker and I don't see myself getting sick of that soup ever. definitely include italian sausage. do have to find a better way to freeze the leftovers though)
-taco salad (this is a tentative one, haven't made taco salad myself since living on my own, but if I included ground beef with taco seasoning, black beans, salsa without chunks, sour cream, and a small amount of shredded cheese, I think it would be okay? maybe some guacamole or onions too. chips would probably be a hit or miss addition)
-chili (haven't made it before on my own either, but I don't think I've ever disliked a chili (mmm except maybe one with chocolate in it, wasn't a huge fan of that one). has to have a lot of meat and can have tomato chunks, but not the super big stewed tomatoes)
-trifle (not a health food by any means, but mixed berries, whipped cream, and angel food cake??? cannot go wrong. delicious all the time)
Some things I've never made but might look up how to make are italian beef (it can be on its own or in a sandwich, but I don't know if I can make it without a slow cooker), cream cheese rangoons (it can't be very many ingredients, but frying it might make a mess I would never want to deal with again), and chai (it's not a food, but I could drink good chai every single day and never get tired of it).
Well, that's at least a bit more of a positive place to end on for now... There are things I can make and do enjoy eating. I just have to maybe put more work into figuring out what they are than I have been up to this point. And maybe put in more work than some other people to find things I enjoy making and that don't make me feel sick. Maybe if I am consistently making things I actually want to eat all the time and I can figure out ways to not hate the entire process I will enjoy cooking a little more. Positive thoughts, positive thoughts lol.
