So I read Batman #416 last night...
They haven’t talked in a year and a half according to this issue. Bruce literally did not attempt to talk to Dick once after “firing” him in this version of the continuity? Phones go two way, Bruce, especially if you’re supposed to be the parent/adult in this situation.
And Dick looks so sad. Like for all people like to talk about JT being “replaced”, I don’t know that I would have it in me to get over it if my father figure knew I was alive and well after he basically cut me off, didn’t bother to speak to me for 18 months or attempt any kind of communication, and I had to go find him when all of a sudden he gave the job I was fired from, that had defined our relationship, to a teenager, who was even more at risk than I had been.
“It was Alfred who forced money on me so I’d have something to live on. You couldn’t even be bothered to say goodbye.”
“ I was involved with a case. I didn’t…”
This is so much sadder than the original New Teen Titans/pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths version??? Like this is so fucking sad.
Then instead of leaving school on his own, Dick fails out because he’s too distracted and is asked not to come back? Like eventually he has the Titans, but taking away this being his choice and making it something he experienced because Bruce felt guilty he was shot makes it so much worse.
And then this set of panels…
“ It didn’t matter to you that I didn’t have any life other than the one we shared .”
Ymmv on whether Dick leading on his own terms or because he was fired as a change for the better or the worse, but holy God, does it change the dynamics of this relationship.
The way Dick reaches out for him… and Bruce shuts him out and tells him to leave. Just like he will after Jason actually dies, except this time, he only punched the glass and not Dick. Dick is trying to be the first one to reconcile, but Bruce won’t let him. Calling him Nightwing instead of by his name as a form of distancing him and everything.
And yet, for all the five trillion posts and fics I’ve seen about how Dick supposedly treated Jason badly due to jealousy and felt bad after he died, his next move? Is to go help Jason, give him his approval, and then offered to talk to him when Bruce wouldn’t and things were difficult.
TBH, I'm pretty sure that Dick Grayson is a way better fucking person than me. Because I like to think I wouldn't have taken it out on Jason directly, but I also would not have gone to find him, reassure him/give him my approval, and offer him a support network in the immediate aftermath of that conversation either. I would not have had it in me after ... *points to all of Bruce's bullshit*

crisis on infinite earths (1985) #4, 7
secret origins (1986) #20
batgirl special (1988)
and done! you could read batman: the killing joke (1988) here, but considering that babs is just there to get shot and assaulted for bruce and jim's manpain, i don't recommend it. instead read the batman chronicles (1995) #5 "oracle year one" if you want to see the birth of oracle!babs :)
[tag: @kara-zor-els ]
#barbara gordon#batgirl#batfam#reading guide#reading order#dc comics#i know there's some other pre-oracle batgirl stories that were published later on in post crisis#but i haven't read them yet ! and i wanted this to mainly be for pre-crisis babs.#but also batman: batgirl (1997) is a solid read with really good art !

Day 416 From the war on Gaza
In the darkness of the night, as storms rage as if carrying all the sorrows of the earth, the people of Gaza sit in tattered tents—no walls to shield them, no roof to keep out the merciless winter cold. Their children shiver, small frail bodies knowing nothing but hunger and frost. Their breaths falter under the icy gusts, as if life conspires to strip away what remains of their fragile souls.
What sin have they committed to deserve such a fate? Children born into misery, mothers delivering pain instead of joy, and elders dying slowly under the weight of cold and hunger. Gaza is not just a city; it is an eternal lament, a deep wound in the heart of humanity—a wound that bleeds as the world looks on in silence, as if the cold has frozen their consciences too.

COULD LIFE EXIST ON TITAN??
Blog#416
Saturday, July 6th, 2024.
Welcome back,
Titan's ocean has a volume 12 times that of all Earth's oceans, but it may be barren of life as we know it.
Titan's underground ocean, and similar oceans inside other icy moons in the outer solar system, may lack the organic chemistry necessary for life, according to new astrobiological research.
Titan is Saturn's largest moon, and the second largest moon in the entire solar system. It's famous for being shrouded in a smog of petrochemicals and for possessing a veritable soup of organic molecules — molecules that contain carbon — on its surface. Yet, despite all this fascinating chemistry, Titan is cold. Very cold. It has surface temperatures no warmer than –179 degrees Celsius (–290 degrees Fahrenheit). And in these frigid conditions, chemical reactions for life progress very slowly.
However, deep underground where it's warmer — the exact depth is not certain, but estimates suggest it's on the order of 100 kilometers (62 miles) — a liquid ocean with a volume 12 times that of Earth's oceans combined is thought to exist. Similar oceans inhabit the interiors of Titan's fellow Saturnian moon Enceladus, and Jupiter's moons Europa and Ganymede.
And where there is liquid water, there could be life. Right? Not so fast, says Catherine Neish of Western University in Ontario, Canada.
A planetary scientist, Neish led an international team that challenged the assumption Titan's ocean, and indeed the oceans of other icy moons, could be habitable.
The researchers worked on the basis that, for Titan's ocean to be habitable, a large supply of organic molecules from the surface must be able to physically reach the ocean in order to facilitate prebiotic chemistry that can produce and feed life.
The route for this organic material to reach the ocean is via comet impacts. Such impacts can melt surface ice, creating a pool of liquid water filled with organic molecules. Because liquid water is denser than ice, it sinks. But, Neish's modeling found that the rate of impacts is not high enough for sufficient organic material to reach Titan's ocean.
For example, Neish's team estimates only about 7,500 kilograms (16,534 pounds) of the simplest amino acid, glycine, reaches Titan's ocean every year. It may sound like a lot, but that's equivalent to the mass of one male African elephant spread across an ocean with a dozen times the volume of Earth's oceans. If you’ll excuse the pun, it's barely a drop in the ocean.
"We assumed that the majority of melt deposits — 65% — would sink all the way to the ocean," Neish told Space.com. "Recent modeling work suggests that this is very likely an overestimate, but even in this most optimistic scenario, there is not enough organics moving into Titan's ocean to support life there."
There may be other possibilities. On Europa, where there are very few organic molecules on the surface, it is postulated that hydrothermal vents may exist on the seafloor where the ocean comes into contact with the moon's rocky core. These vents would spew all kinds of molecules and trigger complex chemical reactions that could support life.
Further evidence for carbon in Europa's ocean has been discovered by the James Webb Space Telescope. The JWST identified carbon dioxide that has welled up from the ocean onto Europa's surface.
So, could the same happen on Titan, with organic material coming from the moon's interior, rather than its surface?
Neish doesn't rule it out, saying that colleagues such as Kelly Miller at the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas, are investigating the possibility — but Neish does highlight one particular caveat.
"One concern that has come up is whether the organics sourced from the interior would be useful for life," she said. "We think they may be primarily aromatic compounds, and it is difficult to form biomolecules — such as amino acids — from such compounds."
While we are still some ways away from being able to probe the oceans of these icy moons directly to say for certain whether they contain life or not, Neish's research does raise some promising opportunities for NASA's Dragonfly mission to Titan, on which Neish is a co-investigator.

Hello, may I ask for 404 showing their affection to their S/O? I'm rather curious how they (or rather, all of them except 9) would express their feelings.
(GFL) UMP45, UMP9, HK416, and G11 ways of showing affection to their S/O
45's genuine affection is quiet and rare, given how guarded she is due to her past and loss of loved ones before.
She always assumes the worst in people and always keeps her squad moving, never settling down longer than they have to.
A lot of people want her and the rest of 404 dead, no need to drag others down with her.
That is, until 45 met two humans that changed her life. The Commander of Griffin, and S/O.
45 always has her faux smile about when the others are around, but when it's just her and S/O, it drops and becomes more subdued.
45 exhales and leans into S/O, one arm snaking around theirs as they sit down.
(UMP45) "You won't mind not moving for a little, right?"
With a soft chuckle, she finally lets her guard down and simply relaxes, planting a soft kiss to their cheek and having a moment of peace.
UMP9's affection is very open, much like her personality.
Her heart has always been worn on her sleeve and isn't afraid to show it, especially in front of others.
Demanding hugs, kisses, piggy back rides, name an affectionate action, she has asked S/O for it.
She'll just stick her tongue out and blow a raspberry if anyone tries to call her out on PDA, in fact it just makes her double down.
(UMP9) "S/O!~ Let's go get dinner together, I'm hungry!"
And if S/O returns her affection, she'll just become even happier and more encouraged to display her love openly.
Much to the dismay of her squad, and everyone in the vicinity.
416 does not say what comes to mind easily, usually swearing under her breath while her face turns scarlet.
She is tsundere in every sense of the word, never admitting how much she loved S/O.
Sometimes she'll blush and curse if asked to cuddle, her body language showing more love than anything as she hugs them tightly.
Other times, she'll initiate a kiss or cuddling herself, with not an ounce of hesitation.
(HK416) "Hm, that kiss took your breath away, right?...No need to answer, I already know it did."
Conversely, she believes that S/O can not get any better lover than God's own gift that is herself.
It helps balance out the pendulum that is her shows of affection, constantly swinging between the most overconfident person, or the biggest Tsundere earth has ever seen.
Given how tired G11 is 99% of the time, the greatest show of affection she can give is that she actually tries to stay awake to spend time with S/O.
Does it work?
God no, it doesn't, she'll just plop her head on their shoulders, lap, back, wherever S/O is, she'll sleep on them like a cat.
That being said, the times it does, she usually has a soft smile and being with S/O makes her "recharge faster" in her own words.
(G11) "S/O, you need to wear something warmer so I can sleep better at night..."
Regardless of her perpetual comatose state, G11 likes to listen to S/O speak, their voice being soothing to her.
She hates noisy people, but S/O is the one person that she'll always try to stay up for.
And the moment it's something serious? She becomes wide awake, not daring to sleep for even a second while S/O was troubled.
And if that wasn't obvious how much she loved them, then by how tight she snuggled into them when she did sleep would.

Using the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), astronomers from the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in Baltimore, Maryland and elsewhere have conducted transmission spectroscopy of a nearby super-Earth exoplanet known as L98-59 d. Results of these observations, available in a research paper published August 28 on the pre-print server arXiv, suggest that the planet has a sulfur-rich atmosphere. L98-59 is a bright M-dwarf star located some 34.6 light years away. It is known to be orbited by at least four planets, and one of them is L98-59 d—a super-Earth about 58% larger than the Earth, with a mass of 2.31 Earth masses. L98-59 d orbits its host every 7.45 days, at a distance of approximately 0.05 AU. The planet's equilibrium temperature is estimated to be 416 K.

The Bat Family Timeline and Ages (Post-Crisis and New Earth) with Sources
Evidence
In Batman: Year One, Bruce is said to be 25 in the January he returns to Gotham. The 1976 DC Calendar puts Bruce's birthday on the 19th of February so Bruce is 26 during his first outing as Batman in April.
Marv Wolfman's Batman: Year Three (Batman vol. 1 #436) tells us that Dick Grayson's parents die in Bruce's third year. In Batman vol. 1 #441 (also by Wolfman) Tim says that Robin started appearing around 6 months after the death of the Flying Graysons. For Dick's age when he becomes Robin, see below.
Bruce joins the Justice League before Dick forms the Teen Titans. Both these teams form before Barbara Gordon becomes Batgirl at 16 (Batgirl: Year One).
Barbara and Dick are each other's dates to their high school prom and so are less than 2 years apart in age (Detective Comics vol. 1 #871).
I suspect Dick, who was an emancipated minor, graduated high school and started college a year early, which allows Dick and Barbara to have some time as the new Dynamic Duo, as we see in Batman Family.
Dick Grayson is 18 when he forms the New Teen Titans, all of whom are also teenagers (Nightwing vol. 2 #137 by Wolfman, who also created the New Teen Titans).
Dick Grayson is 19 when he becomes Nightwing (Batman vol. 1 # 416).
21 year-old Helena becomes Huntress (Huntress: Year One #1), and interacts with Batgirl, meaning that Barbara is not yet Oracle.
Jason dies at 15, 4 months before his 16th birthday (Batman Files). This is before the New Teen Titans' third year anniversary (New Titans #71), before any of the Titans turn 22 (Deathstroke vol. 1 Annual 1), 2 years after Dick becomes Nightwing and almost 10 years before Dick's parents are killed (Batman vol. 1 #436). Dick is hence 21 during these events and 11 when he became Robin.
I also kinda like Dick being 17 years younger than Bruce because that's also the age difference between Adam West and Burt Ward from the 60s TV series.
After these events, Tim Drake becomes Robin and is 13-14 (Batman vol. 1 #441 and Robin II #1)
Soon after, Stephanie Brown is 15 when she becomes Spoiler (Secret Origins 80-Page Giant).
Stephanie is still 15 when she realises that she is pregnant (Robin vol. 2 #59) and Tim is almost 15 during this time (Secret Origins 80-Page Giant).
Cassandra Cain is 17 when she comes to Gotham during this time (Batgirl vol. 1 #1), during No Man's Land which lasts one year.
Helena’s family were killed when she was 8 and during Batman/Huntress: Cry For Blood, Tim says the murders happened roughly 15 years ago, making her roughly 23 during this storyline.
Cass turns 18 in January (Batgirl vol. 1 #39), Tim Drake turns 16 (Robin vol. 2 #116), Jason would have turned 18 in August (Detective Comics vol. 1 #790), and Stephanie is 16 when she "dies" (Batman Allies Secret Files & Origin).
Personally I'd re-arrange Tim's 16th birthday to be the last of these events four events to accommodate him still being 17 late into the Batman: Reborn, see below.
Jason soon returns to Gotham as Red Hood, not long before Infinite Crisis, 52 and One Year Later.
Following the one year time skip, Dick says it's been almost 10 years since his misadventures with Metal Eddie and Liu as a 16-17 year old (Nightwing vol. 2 #133 by Wolfman), which makes sense because he would be 25 by my math.
Stephanie returns from her time as a medical volunteer in East Africa, finishes high school and begins university during Batman: Reborn. She'd turn 19 by the end of this year by my math, which is a typical age to be begin attending university (Gotham Underground and Batgirl vol. 3 #1).
Dick calls Damian Wayne a "10 year-old" before Stephanie attends university (Batman and Robin vol. 1 #2) and Steph still calls Damian a "10 year-old" while she's in her second semester (Batgirl vol. 3 #13 and Batgirl vol. 3 #17). He might have turned 11 before the reboot.
Batwoman: Elegy (Detective Comics #858), during the Batman: Reborn year, shows that Kate was 12 when she was kidnapped and saw her mother and sister killed. This incident is also said to happen "20 years ago”, making her 32 and hence 30-31 during her first appearance in 52/One Year Later.
Tim Drake is still 17 while Steph is in her second semester of her first year at university, and it's stated that he is meant to be in his senior year at high school (Batgirl vol. 3 #13, Red Robin #17 and Red Robin #25). It's possible he turns 18 before the reboot.
Mistakes I Made
Cassandra Cain is 21 in Year Eighteen.
The "Titans disbands" in Year Thirteen was definitely a year early but it's done.

Earth-One Lex Luthor Traits
Sick and tired of people spreading nonsense about one of my favourite characters and denigrating the pre-crisis version of him, so I'm starting an education campaign about his character traits, particularly the ones going back to the silver age!
Questionable heroics
Source: Adventure Comics #271, Superman #164
Source: Superman #416
Silver age Lex did actually try to be a hero in Smallville, but it went wrong and he gave up. It wasn't about losing his hair (though later stories did make that conflation). But Lex occasionally doing heroic things was a theme throughout this era.
Lying and manipulation
Source: Adventure Comics #271
Source: Action Comics #544
Lex does this when he’s trying to control and manoeuvre things and get his way.
Hero-worship
Source: Adventure Comics #271
Source: Superman #416
Lashing out
Source: Superman #161, Superman #292
Source: Superman #416
While he’s known for his wider-scale cruelties, Lex also has this tendency to fall back on petty cruelty when he feels off-balance. This ranges from name-calling to visceral threats.
Jealousy and projection
Source: Adventure Comics #271
Source: Superman #386
It's never clear how aware Lex is that he's doing this, but in the post-Lexor storyline it did explicitly cross over into genuine delusion.
Emotional insecurity/abandonment issues
Source: Superman #292
Source: Action Comics #512
Lex has this tendency to undervalue or disbelieve how much he means to somebody. One issue heavily implied that this sense of abandonment was the root of why he wouldn’t believe Superboy’s entreaties to him.
Protectiveness
Source: Superman’s Girl Friend, Lois Lane #23, Action Comics #295
Source: Adventure Comics #387
Lex would be protective of specific people to the point of self-sacrifice, in particular Lena and her son Val.
Inadvertently hurting/endangering the people he wants to protect
Source: Adventure Comics #388
Source: Superman Family #214
Lex’s protectiveness was interesting because he would continue to do so even when they hated him or he made them hate him.
Spying on people
Source: Action Comics #317
Rushing into marriages
Source: Action Comics #318
Doting on children
Source: Action Comics #295, Action Comics #544
Callousness towards children
Source: Action Comics #407
The thing is not that Lex categorically protects or refuses to hurt children. He has no compunctions about threatening and traumatising them the same as he would an adult.
Preoccupation with his legacy
Source: Superman #286
Lex had a sense of pride over his villainous legacy.
Fighting with (and usually losing to) other villains
Source: Superman #286
His attempts to control, corral or dominate other villains would inevitably fail. They would often target or double-cross him as well.
Ennui
Source: The Joker #7
Source: Heroes Against Hunger
This was more subtle, but Lex being ambiguously depressed is an idea we have seen since.
Obsession as his downfall
Source: DC Special Series #5
Source: Action Comics #544
#not an exhaustive list#I deliberately left out things that I thought were self-evident or too broad#I will be making individual posts for some of these with more examples as well

Grant was the same age as Dick...or possibly a little younger
I've been seeing fans interpret Dick's age as the same as Joey's, or somewhere between Grant and Joey, and you can absolutely change up their ages in fic or fan ideas! However, there is a canon basis for how old Grant was when he died and how old Dick was at that time.
The New Teen Titans #1 (November 1980)
At this point, Dick has been in college for at least one semester, possibly two. In Detective Comics #488/5 (February-March 1980), Dick signs up for "another" semester at Hudson University, and then drops out in Detective Comics #495/5 (October 1980).
Dick first left for college in Batman Vol. 1 #217 (December 1969). He was, in his own words, an adult when he went to college, which I take to mean he was eighteen years old.
Batman Vol. 1 #217 (December 1969)
(Also, both Dick and Bruce crying about Dick leaving but not letting each other see it...aw lol)
So...given comics time, I'm not sure exactly how long he was supposed to have spent at Hudson University, but it has to be at least one and a half semesters, making Dick at least eighteen or nineteen in NTT #1.
This is also the pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths timeline, which came out in 1985-1986 and changed some things about the mainstream DC universe. In pre-crisis, Dick was still Robin while in college, and seems to have spent longer there.
In post-Crisis, Dick is 19 when the Joker shoots him in the shoulder and Bruce fires him as Robin (Batman #408 - June 1987). Dick later says that he finished one semester of college, but was distracted and did so poorly that they asked him not come back for a second semester (Batman #416 - February 1988). Following this, he joined (rejoined?) the New Teen Titans as Nightwing rather than Robin, and the events with Ravager, Deathstroke, and the Judas Contract seem to have proceeded as they did in pre-crisis continuity. This would put Dick at 19 or 20 at the time of Grant's death.
Now that we're in the post-Flashpoint continuity...I honestly don't know if Dick's age in relation to Grant's and Joey's was supposed to have changed. Deathstroke 2016 features the New Teen Titans and Grant's death in one arc where Slade has the speedforce and is time-traveling...but Dick's age is pretty unclear.
(DC: "We rebooted the universe in 2011 to make it easier for new readers to get into." Me, a new reader in 2021: "I don't even think you tried at all.")
So, after all this, I'm going back to The New Teen Titans (1980), which has this panel:
The New Teen Titans #2 (December 1980)
The dates on Grant's headstone read 1961-1980, which puts him at either 18 or 19 when he died, depending on whether or not he had a birthday that year yet.
If we are assuming that both Grant's and Dick's ages stay constant in relation to each other as the irl years change--and I think we have to; if comics characters aged in real time, Bruce would be long dead--then they are either the same age, or Grant was in fact slightly younger than Dick.

The convergence of signs is off the charts right now.
And while we didn't see Beth, we actually did get off-screen proof of her coming.
As Father Gabriel said (when we thought we were watching Beth's funeral, but we weren't)
2 Corinthians 4.18
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen (off-screen), since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Where's Beth?
She's with Gabriel, the archangel who heralds the coming of Christ (and the Antichrist)
Read more on that here
Gabriel was front and center just before and after Beth died, so it's a good sign that Seth and his character are heavily promoted right now.
And after the coming of Christ, what comes next?
Beth with Daryl.
Enter the Lydia (Daryl) and Beth panel in the Netherlands. XX (chromosomes) 10.10.
We all saw the Daryl/Beth parallels with Lydia and Henry, and this is an unseen way of saying we are getting a repeat of that Whisperers story but with Daryl and Beth.
We all know the Whisperers were connected to the episode Morning Star 🌟 so the lineup of these panels was not random.
Netherlands is known for their windmills, which is a hint to the Moulin Rouge of France and romance between Beth and Daryl.
The windmill symbolism also fulfills the X coda, + car, and cross symbolism we see around Beth.
I've mentioned before how the Alexandria windmill became a representation of the Moulin Rouge during season 11 with Leah and the Meridians, and the tower mentioned in that episode was a play on the Eiffel tower.
You can read about that here
The host at this panel asks Emily and Cassady if they went to the red light district while visiting the Netherlands. Hinting at the Moulin Rouge and Daryl and Beth doing the deed. 🫣☺️🤭
Lydia and Beth, together like this, are a shadow of Daryl and Beth past and future.
Beginning to end.
So, no, we didn't get Beth on resurrection Sunday, but actually, we did get Beth on resurrection Sunday when you look at what is unseen or off-screen.
Thanks to everyone who shared the different panel videos. They are amazing. 👏 🤩
We got a whole lot more on and off-screen hints pointing to her imminent return, and I'll try to work through some of the biggest clues now.
It's still the season of her return, and that hasn't changed and the biblical links pointing to that are numerous.
All the signs I've talked about, including the A eclipse, are still at play, and here's why.
We are currently in a crossover time between episode A 416 and episode 501, "No sanctuary" of Terminus.
The A = beginning and Terminus = end
Jesus is Alpha and Omega, beginning to end, and that's why Rick and Beth's story are mirror images of each other.
They are telling the same story beginning to end for one, and end to beginning for the other.
We have just seen Rick as Jesus getting a resurrection and reunion with family, which is linked to the second coming of Christ.
So we should see practically the same mirror story with Beth as Jesus.
The episode A is the marker for the switching over of the sheriffs hat from Rick to Beth.
The A eclipse is a marker for that switch, too.
Consider this break between TOWL and The book of Carol as the middle point of infinity ♾️ or A.
One of the other biblical signs of the coming of Christ is that there will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars 🌟
Luke talks about this in Luke 21.25-36
“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
We already have the star Sirius symbolism used to depict Christ (Beth) return, and the eclipse that we saw Leah and Daryl look at was a clue to look up to the sun and moon also.
If you think about the story-line from the episodes A 416 (Alpha) with the sheriffs hat, all the way to the Terminus (Omega end) in 501.
Those two episodes were split over two seasons, and so is this Sheriffs hat "A" and the Jesus, beginning to end switch.
TOWL ♾️The Book of Carol
A
The flow of the story is moving in infinity ♾️ this is hard to explain, but basically Rick is on one side of the side of the story, moving towards the A sheriffs hat moment to take it off and give to Beth, and Beth is on the other (unseen) side of the story moving towards the sheriffs hat A switch.
Each side of episode "A" or the A eclipse, we will get a different Sheriff wearing the hat and a resurrection.
Rick ♾️ Beth
This means the Easter resurrection symbolism is still at play for Beth, too, even if it's further into the year. Her return/resurrection will coincidence with the dog days of summer ☀️ and Sirius rising.
Rick at the CRM blew it up like (The book of Carol blew) up Terminus.
The CRM are all about "us first, always" like the people at Terminus were, and when Rick destroyed it, the CRM became No Sanctuary.
The Terminus people were cannibals (eat their own) a similar theme to the CRM who kill their own.
That's why we got so much Terminus symbolism in the final, including railway tracks.
All roads lead to Terminus, and it was after Terminus Carol and Daryl find a clue to Beth.
Beth's story will be a combination of all the symbolism that we see with Rick, but add in the CDC symbolism (also blows up in a similar manner) with a bigger focus on experiments and cures.
It will circle back to season 1 and the choice between going to the CDC or Fort Benning (real and fake cure), as mentioned in season 1 by Rick and Shane.
Conversely, for Rick we see a flashback in episode A416 of Rick on the other end of the Terminus (CRM) story.
In this flashback, Rick hangs up the sheriffs hat (law enforcement/CRM) and becomes a farmer.
Which seemingly is what Rick will now do, having hung up his CRM law enforcement hat and arrived at the Commonwealth.
Now that he's home with his family, he's repeating the time at the prison where he started farming, and it's then we got hints at a cure/fake cure story beginning and working backwards to the CDC.
I've talked about that here if you want to read more.
I went back and started to watch episode A again and wanted to mention this car that drove into the prison at the very beginning of the episode "A".
Zack's Ram charger with no number plate.
It's a twin to this car...
I mentioned how the yellow Nissan points to the Jewish New Year and the A eclipse here and here
The Rams Horns were seen around Rick and Beth and are linked to the angel Gabrielle as well, but they definitely reminded me of an Infinity symbol, which is interesting because the brand Nissan also has a car brand called Infiniti ♾️
The fact that it's Zack's car (old boyfriend) ties it to Beth and Daryl and the damn romance novel to come back around.
What happens during an eclipse? The moon 🌙 blocks out the sun 🌞
And these two book end cars being black and yellow depict the "A" eclipse of the sun being blocked by the moon, and also the switching of the sheriffs hats at A.
Solar eclipses also make a golden ring 💍
This speaks to the marriage/ring symbolism we have seen with Rick and Michonne, and why now the CRM has changed its logo to one ring as seen on the on the helicopters at the end of the episode. 🚁
We will see this with Beth and Daryl too.
It's linked biblically to the bride of Christ (Christ's followers) and his return.
Revelation 19.7
Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;
When Christ returns, there is a wedding between the bride of Christ and his followers. It's symbolic of an unbreakable bond.
So, the return of Christ is also linked to marriage.
We see Rick and Michonne in a helicopter 🚁 (which represents being in heaven or from "above"). While the focus on the wedding ring.
While we see this, we hear the talk of reform and a new age (Millennium) to begin.
To end it all, we see this beautiful depiction of Christ returning to earth from the helicopter 🚁 of heaven with his bride. 👰♀
And they combine that with the symbolism of believers who knew he'd return.
The dad comment is a play on this verse...
John 1.12
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
A few extra off-screen signs of Beth's return...
The panel content gave us more hints.
Firstly, one huge theory circulating back in season 4-5 as to where Beth got taken in Alone was that she was with Father Gabriel. Emily being with Seth at the panel is another sign of her return. ✅️
Secondly, another big theory was that she would bring a cure. Which Emily brings up in her panel with Seth ✅️
Thirdly, Emily mentions Beth becoming a leader. Wearing the Sheriffs hat ✅️
Lastly, a big part of the conversation in season 4 and 5 was the talk of Emily looking like Luna Lovegood. Which Emily brings up in the panels also. ✅️

superman: lost finale
tldr: huge L for people who want to see clark reintegrate into his life with people who love and accept him even when he doesn't feel he's 'being' correctly due to his enormous amounts of horrible trauma (me). but also huge W for people who want to look at clark ultimately addressing his trauma by doing something so batshit insane he would never ever inflict on another person but his self standards are so toxic babygirl you are SO fucked up (also me)
short plot recap: at the end of this issue, clark and hope go back in spacetime to the beginning of where he was dumped out of the space trawler's ship, and send past!clark back to earth. then the clark we've been following goes on to help the evacuation for ten years, and then become the time loop clark we saw in issue 7, warning his past self not to try to escape, while the past!clark he and hope sent back goes on to live with lois and be the in-continuity clark we're familiar with.
various disorganized notes upon this:
clois book and clois divorce book at the same time
the book is metacommentary on how editorial will never allow clark to actually have lasting effects from trauma because that's not marketable/palatable to people both inside the dcu and outside
nerds bein like 'ohhh that's not how time travel works' news flash: time travel is not real its a storytelling device. if it serves the author then it's how it works
i. loved lois in this. all throughout. i know some people think she's ooc but she's so angry and compassionate and her concern and drive is what intersects with clark's self sacrificial brain in the end to make his FUCKED UP choice it is just. tickles the brain in a capital T Tragedy way. fatal strengths/fatal flaws chefs kiss
immediately headcanoning Gatekeeper/timeloop clark to eventually become the superman-null of Strange Visitor even though i think he was visually based on Maggin's Ghost of Superman Future from Superman 416 (which, if you like time loops, you should read, and if you dont like time loops you should read anyway because it fucks). let me have this. or, i know that Gatekeeper says he's had this conversation over and over, but i would would also accept if he figures out how to break it eventually and then becomes an iterant space paladin
the hope-is-pregnant jumpscare was. fine whatever 😔 a concession to serialized storytelling demanding cliffhangers. shoutout to parthenogenesis was nice but That Aint How It Works......like That's The Point Of Asexual Reproduction You Don't Need Another Person's DNA.......
this issue was fun to read alongside the current arc of WF since mark waid is also pointing out clark's flaw of impossibly impossibly high standards for himself in the way that main universe clark is so furious and disgusted with kingdom come clark; main universe bruce has never seen him that angry before bc clark's hatred/fury/fear of his own failures is obviously usually internalized
lex's part in this book was so damn good. that egotistical genius delusional psychosexually obsessed loony. especially the bit about the paintings. stop imagining yourself in a naked wrestling match with your enemy. time to listen to les troyens i guess
throughout the whole book the art has just been. incredible. coloring lines inking the whole thing. the stylistic change in 7 was interesting, not my favorite art, but it worked bc they were in a black hole at the time. i got some of the lee weeks variant covers and they're so incredibly good.... but the mainline covers were also wonderful.
slaps roof of superman. this fellow sure can get lost
anyway. if you made it to the end low effort mspaint sillies

I loved your Nightwing-It’s a Wonderful Life fic, and I figured that based on your research for it you might be able to answer this. How did raising Dick change Bruce? Logically it must have, and my general idea is that it gave him something to live for apart from his mission, made him more open to working with others, and made him less violent/aggressive— but is there any canon, Post-Crisis evidence for that?
Because Dick and Bruce's relationship (and Bruce's early career generally) was entirely backfilled after Crisis on Infinite Earths, there are a lot of big gaps in the story, and different authors' depictions of their early years are often very contradictory. And then very soon after Crisis, the Dark/Iron Age of comics begins, meaning that Bruce's characterization very quickly becomes a lot more violent and aggressive than it was previously. You can, and many fans and writers do, attribute those changes to the Watsonian cause of Jason's death, but they also happen retroactively. With the Crisis and the beginning of the grim-dark-ification of comics (and some other more complicated factors that I won't get into here) Dick and Bruce's relationship also becomes a lot more troubled than it had been previously.
All of which is to say that there isn't a lot of incredibly strong evidence for the idea that Dick made Bruce less violent and more open to others, even if I do (obviously) think it's a fairly in-character reading of the mess of canon that we get, because even in flashbacks Bruce kind of becomes more violent around that time. There's definitely some evidence that Dick gave Bruce something to live for, though.
The immediate Post-Crisis version of Dick and Bruce's meeting, Dark Victory, portrays a version of Bruce who is incredibly reserved even in his internal narration. The most effusive he gets is thinking to himself, "The boy... shows promise." But the obvious intended implication is that Bruce has very quickly come to be emotionally invested in Dick, and lets that emotional connection overwhelm his reservedness and (sometimes) his good sense.
(Dark Victory #13)
And of course, in the Post-Crisis explanation for why Dick stopped being Robin, we have Bruce's description of why he recruited Jason.
(Batman Vol 1 #416)
Mostly, though, we get the idea that Dick softened Bruce and gave him something to live for through things that other people say. Most famously, there's Tim "Batman needs a Robin" Drake, talking about Batman's increasing violence since he lost Jason.
(Batman vol 1 #441)
But here, for instance, is young Dick Grayson himself, in Batman: Year Three, which is both a reckoning with Bruce's increasing violence since losing Jason and a partial retelling of Dick and Bruce's original meeting:
(Batman Vol 1 #438)
And then there's Alfred, in the aftermath of the War Games arc, speaking to Dick:
(Nightwing Vol 2 #99)
All of which is to say that there isn't a ton of direct evidence that working with Dick made Bruce more open to working with others, or less violent... but there's a lot of evidence that he deeply needed Dick for his psychological wellbeing, and that a lot of people think of Dick as a vital source of hope and connection in his life.
#this is definitely not comprehensive#and to be clear it's not from research i did for the fic#most of the research i did for that fic was verifying how the various titans' timelines matched up to the destruction of blüdhaven#when it comes to dick and bruce's relationship although i can almost always cite sources for why i feel a certain way#mostly i just have intense Vibes and then have to track down the panels that i remember gave them to me#dick grayson#bruce wayne#ask

Crescent City 3 drops January 30, 2024. If you’re like me, you’re behind the curve and want to get through the Throne of Glass series, plus Crescent City 1 & 2.
So, what’s that mean?
Throne of Glass is 416 pages
Crown of Midnight is 432 pages
Heir of Fire is 592 pages
Empire of Storms is 720 pages
Queen of Shadows is 672 pages
Kingdom of Ash is 992 pages
Assassin’s Blade is 464 pages (and no, I really don’t care where you read AB)
Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood is 816 pages
Crescent City: House of Sky and Breath is 816 pages
That’s 5,920 pages.
And from today, October 2, 2023, there are exactly 120 days until CC3. Meaning that you’ll need to read approximately 50 pages (49.33333-) per day in order to finish the series in time for CC3.
And if you’re looking to start (and finish) the entire SJM universe and haven’t read anything:
ACOTAR: 448 pages
ACOMAF: 656 pages
ACOWAR: 736 pages
ACOFAS: 272 pages
ACOSF: 768 pages
Bringing total page count to 8,800 pages. You’d need to read approximately 74 pages a day (73.333333-) to finish on time.
Legitimately don’t ask me why I decided to do this. There’s no reason beyond me needing to know (because I’m not done with TOG yet).
Happy reading!

Your pick of T-Dolls(/Angi) watching S/O dive into the extraction helicopter, ala Helldivers.
And of course, the customary “what the fuck were you thinking, making me worry like that?!?” After the fact.
(GFL) RO635, HK416, AN-94, and Angelia's S/O diving to extraction
I thank Super Earth everyday for giving me the Light Medic armor, juicing myself with stims as I'm diving from the hordes of bugs.
[Commander's Voice] "AR-Team, Pelican-1 has landed, get to extraction!"
(M4A1) "Understood, pulling back!"
The T-Dolls of the AR-Team were sent to protect a group of refugees escaping Sangvis Dolls that had pursued them.
RO's S/O had joined the team, alongside a myriad of other medical personnel from Griffin.
She initially voiced against their inclusion, alongside the other humans but the decision was final.
And sure enough, her fears of them getting attacked came to fruition, but now wasn't the time to let it paralyze her.
S/O was focused on getting the refugees out first before finally joining the team, rushing for cover as bullets flew overhead.
(RO635) "S/O!"
Switching her gun to full-auto, she began giving cover fire by keeping the enemy pinned down, with SOPMOD and M16 joining her.
(RO635) "We can't stay any longer, come on!"
With the last refugee on board, S/O sprinted for the helicopter as it slowly began to lift.
S/O dove headfirst onto the helicopter's floor from a small cliff, and painfully sliding across the metallic ground.
RO flinched from both the sight of S/O getting themselves hurt, and the bullets bouncing off her frame.
The team leapt onto the helicopter as it finally departed and left the combat zone, letting RO quickly rush over to S/O.
(RO635) "S/O, are you hurt anywhere?! A bullet didn't catch you, did it?"
(S/O) "O-Ow...! No, it didn't."
Noticing a red stain smeared on their uniform, RO quickly sat them on the seat and began tending to their wounds.
(RO635) "That was extremely reckless, but...I'm glad you're alright."
She at least understood why they dove, but getting themselves hurt at all did not ease her in the slightest.
(RO635) "Next time, don't get yourself hurt just trying to get to safety..."
With a quick hug, she quickly attends to the rest of her squad and other personnel.
Squad 404 was caught in a bad spot as they ran towards extraction.
Normally, no human ever came along for their operations, but this time was an exception as they needed one for an undercover story.
S/O was the only one with the technical expertise who could come along, a decision which 416 quickly regretted.
As soon as they had to make a break for it, S/O was one of the last ones left behind as they were slower than the team.
(HK416) "Dumbass, GET DOWN!"
Immediately, 416 and G11 tried to cover S/O as they rushed forward, pinning down the human mercs after them.
S/O threw the item they were stealing onto the helicopter first, ensuring they were able to get the data needed.
It was after that, S/O dove face first onto the Black Hawk before the rest of 404 could hop on, barely in time as the doors shut.
416 sighed loudly, grabbing S/O and shaking them.
(HK416) "The hell do you think you're doing?! Why did you toss the data first instead of yourself?!"
(S/O) "A-Agh! It worked out in the end-"
(HK416) "I'LL WORK MY HAND ON THE SIDE OF YOUR HEAD IF YOU THINK OF DOING THAT AGAIN-"
(UMP45) "Alright, calm it down there. We know you're concerned-"
416 rolled her eyes as she gently let go of their collar, trying to act unconcerned.
(HK416) "Whatever, just get yourself looked at, I'm not going to babysit you."
(G11) "...That's a lie-"
(HK416) "Shut the fuck up, G11."
UMP45 and UMP9 snickered before G11 promptly fell asleep, with S/O taking a seat next to 416.
DEFY was moments away from escaping on Pelican-1, the only thing stopping them from leaving being S/O.
AK-15 leapt to the cover S/O was hiding behind and nodded to them, letting them escape.
94 and AK-12 both took out enemy drones hovering above them as the bullets went flying above S/O's head, with RPK-16 providing suppressing fire as she slowly walked back to the helicopter.
(AK-12) "Time to go."
AK-15 grabbed the sheet of metal before throwing it at the approaching dolls, bisecting them and tanking the retaliating fire with her arm.
94 saw S/O dive and hurt themselves as they rolled on the helicopter's floors, making her quickly rush back and block them from any incoming gunfire.
The rest of DEFY jumped in before the helicopter quickly took off and finally getting them to safety.
94 immediately grabbed a first aid kit and helped S/O onto a nearby seat, still not taking off her combat mask.
(AN-94) "No serious injuries, but are you okay?"
(S/O) "Agh, y-yeah...! That floor hurt a lot more than I thought it would."
The rest of DEFY took off their masks and relaxed into their seats.
(AK-12) "Yeah, I could hear you slide against the metal."
(AN-94) "Please do not hurt yourself like that again."
(S/O) "Hah, no promises. Next time I hopefully don't need to dive like that again, or at the very least I can slide on dirt."
(AN-94) "I am being serious, S/O."
(S/O) "Come on, that was a joke-"
(AN-94) "I am aware, I do not find it funny."
(AK-12) "Ouch, think that might hurt more than your dive."
Angelia waits for the Black Hawk to land as she stands next to the Commander and Kalina.
Finally, S/O stepped out with DEFY, though they were limping unlike the rest of the T-Dolls.
(AK-12) "Hey, Ange. We're back in one piece."
(Angelia) "Surprisingly."
She dryly commented, turning to S/O.
(Angelia) "AK-15 told me what stupid stunt you pulled to get on."
(S/O) "Ah, so she did..."
DEFY, the Commander, and Kalina all stepped away for a moment, knowing to give those two some time alone.
Which Angelia immediately sighed, half tempted to hit them on the head with her metal arm.
(S/O) "L-Listen, it was the heat of the moment, I had to get to cover!"
(Angelia) "By diving off a rock and directly into the helicopter?"
(S/O) "Well, when you put it that way-"
(Angelia) "Next time dumbass, just try sliding, not diving. That's metal you're jumping onto."
(S/O) "Can I dive into your arms next then?"
Angelia stared at S/O, completely unamused.
(S/O) "...C-Can we go inside, it's freezing out here."
Angelia rolled her eyes and walked ahead of S/O, letting them catch up.
