I've finally caved and have gotten one of those 'play games and earn cash' apps. Like yeah, I know that working at my actual job would wield more cash per hour than this but I cannot express how desperate I am for money on demand. Cuz I can immediately put whatever I cash out with into my top surgery savings instead of waiting for donations to my Gofundme or Paypal.

And yeah, it's going to take hours away from me to get even just five bucks, but that's time that I wasn't able to work anyway.

Think of late nights when work is closed but I'm not sleeping. Think of the early mornings that I can't reasonably expect someone else to wake up to take me to work. Think of when all the shifts are taken up and I can't schedule myself anymore. And when I'm on my way to Dr Appointments or other meetings. When I can't physically work but I still need to buy things.

It's not ideal and it's annoying but like, it's better than nothing.

All right I'll make a proper post about this lmfao. May I present

The Invalid's Guide to Making Money Off Mobile Games

(Please note I'm using my affiliate links, so if you click through and join up I will get rewarded at no cost to you.)

The primary way that I make money is through Swagbucks. (I also use Inbox Dollars, but I tend to use Swagbucks more for different deals. They're both owned by the same parent company.) Swagbucks is a survey website, but they also offer affiliate deals with mobile games. For proof that I'm not grifting, here is my profile.

Each swagbuck (SB) is a penny, so 100 is a dollar, 1000 is 10 dollars. As you can see as of posting this, I've earned 121, 297 SB or $1,212.97 since I started in January. I play various mobile games for a few hours every day, but I took a break for about a month and a half since I was getting burned out. I cash out to Paypal usually, but you can get a bunch of different gift cards, it's nice to be able to directly get people gift cards for their birthdays through the website.

There are a ton of different offers to choose from, from various sponsors of varying levels of credibility. They'll offer to complete different checkpoints within the game for SB within a certain amount of time.

When I'm looking for an offer to start, I'm looking for a few things in particular. The amount on offer has to be worth my time. Usually, I'm looking for offers in the $40-$150 range. Anything above that is likely to have a catch, require massive amounts of in-app purchases to complete, or is downright impossible. I always consult the swagbucks reddit to check out offers beforehand, so I don't waste my time. I also consider the time investment I'm putting in. Usually 1000 levels of a puzzle game for $35 is the minimum I'm looking for. For idle games, I'm looking more in the $50 minimum range.

This is one of the offers I'm currently working on. (the game is Klondike, for $110 total offer)

Typically with an offer in this range, I know I'm going to make a few purchases. I always try to go for stamina boosters on the cheap. I've spent about $5 so far and I'm only a week into this and already about 1/3 of the way done. I log in multiple times a day since I am, as I've stated, disabled, so I have the freedom to do so. If you do not have the ability to be so on top of things, I recommend looking at the second to last goal point, and making that your target.

Other offers are like this

(This is Ant Legion, a game I've played before). As you can see the amount on offer is significantly higher. $340 to be exact, though keep an eye out for things like "purchase X"--typically those are 1:1 rebates, so you get a boost for free. With these types of games, you're going to be making substantially more in-app purchases. When I try this offer, I'm going to budget about $40-$50 so that I'm still making a profit of about $285. Understand that there is risk involved--if I spend that money and I *don't* make it all the way to 31 in time, I'm SOL.

Swagbucks also offers gambling games. Just stay away from those. I did one and spent about $70 to make a profit of about $150, but none of it was from the app itself. They're predatory and meant to funnel in-app purchases, though again, check the reddit. There might be a couple that are legit.

Typically with Swagbucks, I like to be doing 3 offers at a time--two idle games, and one puzzle game. I'll check my idle games throughout the day to make progress, and sit and binge the puzzle games to get to the level checkpoints (Usually about 1000 levels, which isn't as bad as it sounds.)

Before I get into the next section, this is very important, please listen to me.

If you cash out for more than the minimum threshold for taxation in your country, you will owe taxes on the money you make.

You'll need to do research for your individual situation. For USAmericans, the threshold is $600. I budget about 10% of that to go into taxes, and I have a spreadsheet with receipts for in-app purchases which qualify as business expenses in this case. Here is the SB page for more info.

Next, I've just started using Mistplay after being bombarded with ads about it. generally, I like it. I'm also not saying that it's possible to double-dip SB and Mistplay rewards, because I would not do that because it's against terms and conditions, but it might be possible (though I definitely don't recommend it).

Mistplay works differently in that it offers 'units' for playing games for a certain amount of time. I've earned about 500 units in a day playing mobile games for a few hours, and minimum cash out starts at $5 for 1800 units. Overall it's a nice system that allows me to make money on more "fun" games that I'd otherwise be playing anyway without making money, such as for instance, Honkai: Star Rail which I'm planning on starting tonight. And if you do join Mistplay, this is my recruit link ;).

Overall tips:

be prepared to watch ads. I have my shit set up on multiple devices, I have a phone and a tablet with different games on each and I usually have ads going on on one screen while I'm playing merge what the fuck ever on the other. That's how they're making the money to give to you, pussy up etc.

It does take some dedication to rack up big numbers. I consider myself on a fairly relaxed grind and usually play mobile games for about four hours a day. You can try out your limits and whatnot

RESEARCH. you can download a game and test it outside of the SB tracking to try it out, or check out the subreddit. Mucho helpful information.

IF YOU DO AN OFFER and it DOES NOT TRACK CORRECTLY do not panic. Complete the offer to the best of your ability, take screenshots, and use the SB help center to request your missing SB credit. They usually get back to me within a business day with my shit in pending.

It's a slow crawl to victory. You'll be like "i am not making fucking ANYTHING." and then the next week you'll be like. pending for $100. Be patient.

Check out the other shit on the SB and Inbox Dollars websites. I occasionally do surveys for over a dollar (though I use Forthright for surveys because overall it pays better for my time.)

Dismantling most accusations/complaints against Pokemon Sleep (There are a few which are actually valid and to a point the developers have started to work on them)

Part 1 - Those I don't understand

- Pokemon sleep steals our biometric data

No they don't, they specify that very well in the terms. Yes they ask to use your mircophone but there are other sleep thrackers that do that. This one simply earned an uproar, because it was Pokemon who dared to. Also in your phones settings under Apps>Pokemon Sleep>Authorization you can disable the app to access your microphone.

- Pokemon Sleep could turn our children to compulsive gambling

As a pedagogical caretaker who actually tried and pkayed the game I can't see this. They are not monopolizing on the time before and after going to bed. Everything you can do is done in at most 10 Minutes. As for the payment options, if there is no Debit/Credit Card or Paypal account behind the account you use on the play store they can't buy anything anyway. If there is it is the responsibility of the parent to show them, on what they would spend real money.

- Pokemon sleep is inaccurate when you're around the room but not on your mattress trying to sleep.

Yeah, no shit sherlock, any other sleep tracker would be too. Even my fitness tracker sometimes counts me being completely still as being asleep in the eveningy when I'm actually just reading or watching something.

- Pokemon Sleep is too hard to play

Actually it is really simple and everything is explained pretty well. A game shouldn't serve you everything on a silver tray, there should be room to explore and I think pokemon sleep does that quite well

- The progress in pokemon sleep is too slow

This is no super fast progress game, duh. It is meant to be relaxed and to encourage you to improve your sleep cycle in a fun and cute way and it does a wonderful job. If you need to have fast progress to have fun, it is a sign of how damaging those games with fast progress actually are, they are much more attention and time grabbing and much more dangerous when it comes to developing compulsive gaming disorder.

Complaints I do understand (and am willing to offer a solution)

- The relaxing tune is too loud.

I had that problem too and it is not a solution of sorts, but they fixed that pretty fast. What I prefer to do though, is to listen to my own custom playlist on my iPad and set the timer to one hour to turn the music off.

- The mobile overheats/the app crashes/it uses too much battery

This one I find more understandable. There is a notion that bug fixes are underway. If you're not willing to wait for the bug fixes an alternative would be to buy the pokemon go plus +. No I'm not sponsored by The Pokemon Company in any way shape or form, but I calculated it trhough. For a sleep tracking device which can also be cross used with Pokemon go, the pricing is alright. My current fitness tracker with an innate sleep tracker costs almost thrice as much. There are Smart watches out there you pay ten times as much for. The device comes with a clip to not fall under your pillow, and your mobile has to do nothing over night, because you simply sync the sleep data in the morning. The battery of the Pokemon Go plus + also keeps going up to one week when fully charged. And needs about 3 1/2 hours to carge from zero.

Due to emotional involvement some of this contains my personal opinion/advice. I'm not seeking any form of a fight over these points, though I'll be happy to discuss them with you contructively in the comments.^^

Hi! Just came across a post where you talked a bit about binding in a safe and non-painful way, and I was wondering… do you have any advice for someone who would like to try binding but isn’t 100% sure if it’s for them? if that's still a lot of money for you, I've also used swagbucks on and off for years. you answer surveys to earn points that you can cash out for gift cards, but they do have visa and paypal options too

it's a little scummy in that swagbucks used to have a lot of different options for earning points by watching videos, going to different websites (not buying or downloading anything, just generating hits for them), and playing games, but they've slowly whittled that away so now surveys are kind of your only option. it can also be a time sink trying to qualify for surveys and get partway through one before being disqualified, BUT earning $30 worth of points has historically taken me one month (when doing it daily for about an hour) or two months (4-5 days a week)

it's also purely online, so as long as you have privacy to be on a computer or phone no one else physically looks at (family, partners, etc), then it's a good way to earn a little bit of secret money if that's a concern

there's a couple more survey taking websites out there with a similar set up, swagbucks is just one I've actually used for a good long while, so I can confirm it works. if you need some ""free"" money and regularly have an hour a day to be bored online, that's what I would recommend

Disability Approved Side Hustles

I've been planning on making a video/tiktok series about this for like two months—but, you know, disabled—so maybe I'll update it to be fancier later. Who knows?

Note: None of these are going to make you enough to live on, either together or separately, but sometimes every little bit counts!

Bridge Money - referral code TWSCBQ

This is the simplest/easiest of my suggestions. Watch up to 25 ads a day for 1 cent each. Yeah, I know that's only like $7 a month if you remember most days. But it's so easy to do while doing almost anything else (that let's you use a hand for a sec every 30 secs or so) that it's just $7 you're leaving on the table if you don't do it.

You also get 2 cents cash back for purchases if you link a card. They have random offers for $4 if you do x thing, games you earn 1 cent a minute for playing, etc. But I mainly just get my 25 cents each day.

Please use a referral code, either mine or someone else's, because both people get $1!

Mistplay - referral in link (android only)

This is the main one I use. You play games on an android device and earn units you can then buy giftcards with. This is good if on SSI because it doesn't go to your bank account! But it does have paypal as an option if that's not a concern. I've earned over $400 so far, and someone more dedicated could have earned more in the same time frame. (I don't want to burn out.)

The best strategy is to play games that have the most "speed" bubbles first, and up to checkpoint 5, then switch games. Find one "loyalty game" that gives 4 gems per $1 and spend $2 to get to silver status (should last two months). DO NOT UNINSTAL THAT GAME! As long as you're actively using the app, you'll make the $2 back from the bonuses. Sometimes you'll get a "Daily Task" to get to checkpoint 6+ and depending on the reward it might be worth it then. If a game is boosted to like 8 speed bubbles, it can also be worth it go past checkpoint 5. Use your judgement.

Playwell - don't think it does referrals?

Very similar to Mistplay. If you like playing games on your phone and want to play one Mistplay doesn't have, it might be here. (I refuse to play games for free anymore lol.) I mostly just have it because sometimes I'm able to double dip. Right now I am playing Merge Inn which is a 4 speed bubble game on Mistplay and earns 5k points per 15 minutes on Playwell. I'm going past checkpoint 5 for this one because I'll earn $2 if I get to level 31 in the game through Playwell plus the time based rewards. And I just like merging games.

Swagbucks - referral in link

Swagbucks has a ton of stuff. I would suggest you actually look up a post specific to that to see all the options because it's like surveys, receipts, offer walls, coupons, just... a lot.

But like Mistplay and Playwell it also does games. And like Playwell you can also sometimes double dip! So I'll check there and see if they have an offer for games that have higher speed bubbles on Mistplay. Some of the offers are really hard and time consuming so def look into it first, though. However every "how much does this public figure earn" site puts his net worth at 1-7 mil. I'd usually be skeptical but he does get royalties still from various games, comics and roles he was in (he did play on two dubbed anime). Kinda nasty he pretends to be a poor dude when he's doing better than a lot of us (also other reasons too but that verges on doxxing territory which I won't do because somehow I'm more moral than him)

I tried the bingo Clash app while not putting in any money, just to see like how it works because. First of all I do enjoy bingo so just testing it wouldn’t be a waste of time, and second of all I’ve always been curious about how these bingo apps work and how predatory they are. I tried this because I am constantly getting ads for this app on Tumblr. 

Here’s what I got

every time you are on the main menu it gives you the same 2 reminders for ways to pay and get bonus cash

it does not explain to you the difference between actual and bonus cash and in fact hides this behind the withdraw button

the bingo is fine i mean it’s normal bingo, some games have bonuses on numbers. idk…

the withdrawal only lets you withdraw a certain amount of your total money and does it through an unreliable means (Rapyd), not Paypal as it claims. paypal is nowhere!

every time i played a game for the first several games i got a “congratulations” followed by a big picture showing a cash prize. it said in smaller text that i must deposit to earn the prize. it wasn’t a small amount to deposit for the money i’d get
