Ross burning the same candle you have in your apartment in every hotel room while he is away. Matty/ the boys walking in and asking if you were there bc it smells of you. And Ross is like no just the candle 🥲

wtf this made me cry. yeah! maybe it's one of the fancy maison margiela ones or a diptyque/jo malone one, something that smells exactly like the perfume you wear. and it's a long, long stretch of tour that ross will be away for, the longest you guys have ever spent apart (but it's especially constant travelling, so it was best for you to stay home and not burn yourself out trying to work remotely, even though you offered), so you buy and sneak the candle into his suitcase and when he's on his way to the airport for the first time you text him to tell him it's in there for him to remind him of you (as if you ever leave his mind in the first place though lol), and ross fully cries about it. and a few weeks later, when he really really really starts to miss you, the boys have a day off and ross literally does not leave his hotel room; he just sits and burns the candle, talking to you on the phone. and in the early evening, when your call is over and you're asleep bc time difference, the boys tentatively knock on ross' door and head into his room because they hadn't seen him all day and missed him 😢 and as soon as they enter matty's like "why does it smell like your girlfriend's perfume OH MY GOD IS SHE HERE DID SHE SURPRISE YOU IS THAT WHY YOU'VE BEEN IN HERE ALL DAY" and george and adam are like knocking on the bathroom door because you must be in there if you're not with ross, and the three of them are all really excited at the idea that you're there on tour because they love you too! and ross literally starts crying and he's like "nah she's not here she just got me this candle that smells like her perfume and i lit it because i miss her so much" and the boys' hearts all break for him. and they're lowkey concerned because ross like never cries the way he is now, he's always the calming one, so they all just kind of sit with him in a group hug until he calms down. and you wake up the next morning to a message from matty and it's a pic of all the boys in ross' bed captioned "we're all emo cos we miss you we love you (ross especially)" and then another one with like confirmation of a plane ticket booking for the middle of next week saying "better get packing, bestie" - the boys are flying you out as a surprise for ross and you'll stay with them until tour is done <3

I know we should ignore these things, but I like debunking them. So, the article about Harry and Yan Yan Chan originally came from Woman’s Day in Australia, which is bottom of the barrel. Not like other tabloids are better but Woman’s Day will literally say whatever.

I searched her name on Twitter just to see if maybe they got a tip from somewhere, cause it seemed random, there are very few tweets with her name, but I found two from a hardcore Harrie who tweeted in early March that she knew they were hooking up (lol) and that she had confirmation four days ago (double lol).

In the second tweet, a friend replies “how do we know?” and she says that Pip Edwards (another Australian influencer) works with her sister and told her they were hooking up casually in the US and that Yan Yan was at two of his shows in Australia (Perth and Sydney) and they had breakfast together. She didn’t give a source for this last part (I presume she was spotted at the Sydney show because the article says the same). The fan says “apparently” about the shows and the breakfast.

So I went to Yan Yan’s instagram to track if it would even be possible for her and Harry to have hooked up in the US (I obviously don’t believe it, but would the narrative fit?)

Well, Harry was “dating” O until November, correct? Yan Yan was in New York until early November, then she went to a Chanel event in Miami for a few days, then back to NYC until early December. She posted almost every day, tagged her locations and the captions are like “today I took a stroll” or “finally arrived in Miami.” Harry was in LA the entirety of November with his residency, until very late November when he went to his Latin American leg of tour, which finished in mid December. So no cigar there.

Yan Yan then went to the Cayman Islands in early December and back to New York. Harry did a pit stop in LA after Brazil (AFTER Yan Yan was back in NYC), then straight to London, where he stayed until late January, then flew to LA for the postponed shows and the Grammys. Yan Yan went to Australia in mid January and has been there ever since.

Harry followed Yan Yan in 2020, so maybe they hooked up before O? Wrong, Yan Yan was in a relationship with Nathan Jolliffe, ever since 2017, they broke up in July 2022. So either they’re gonna go with “they cheated”, they’re gonna wipe Yan Yan’s social media to make them meeting plausible, or it’s just a het Harrie who wants them to be together (she’s seriously super weird about it), probably because she’s Australian and wants him to date a fellow Aussie 🥴, who tipped off Woman’s Day, and Daily Mail picked it up.

Honestly, tho, part of me hopes that if they’re gonna give Harry another beard, it’s at least a woman of color lmao, I seriously can’t stand Brad and I’m (no offense) tired of white blonde women. I hope he doesn’t have to for a while, O was exhausting. But I’m ngl the amount of ridiculous rumors Australians made up about him hooking up with random women in their periods, I’m like “oh god maybe a beard would be better” 😭 but ik that’s selfish cause he’d have to actually do something with a beard

And do you have a theory how this all could have started between them? I read pretty interesting psychological analyses on the tumblr blog which is literally called "Gallaghercest"

Hi! That’s a good question and one that I’ve been pondering myself for quite a while.  

Disclaimer: It’s all just my opinion. No one knows what Liam and Noel mean to each other except for them.

For the longest time I didn’t really want to believe it - that there could be something more to their relationship. Anything eyebrow raising, such as the Loch Lomond kiss, I eventually explained away, like a lot of people did. Like the majority of fans still do today. And as I have said, that was easy enough to do when you weren't being reminded of it constantly.

In the mid 90s, I was in my early 20s and struggling with my sexual orientation. I must have found some aspects of their behaviour towards one another triggering (to use today’s parlance) for reasons other than incest. Looking back, in my confused and tormented young mind, I must have conflated gay with incest; the different negative associations became mixed up together, and I quietly freaked out about my own self-worth.  It was only after I came to terms with being bisexual and made peace with myself that my attitude towards the Gallagher brothers changed. I came out a long time ago, but it took a good long while after that before I could say to myself: you know what, I think Liam and Noel are in love with each other and I think I should empathise rather than judge. Because I'd been judged. Badly.  Empathy and fascination with their relationship developed by degrees over time, which paved the way for a couple of light bulb moments that I had not so long ago.

Personal situation aside, as a fan, I was still perplexed by that Loch Lomond kiss.  And my main question was why?  Why did Noel do that?  What would make him do that? I’d been drunk and high enough times in my life to know that drugs don’t make you suddenly tongue kiss your sibling.

One day I was eating my lunch in a park, in the sunshine, thinking about it, turning possible answers over in my mind, when I had one of life's rare moments of clarity, a simple logic that laser-beamed itself into my head from nowhere.  Because he wanted to.  Nothing made him do it. He wasn’t forced or coerced, nobody held a gun to his head. Noel kissed Liam of his own free will. But why would he want to? Well, duh! Again, logic! That was a bit of a facepalm moment. lol Are the simplest answers the right ones sometimes? Who knows.

Not long after that, I was listening to Dead in the Water and hearing it quite differently from before, and looking at that photo of Noel standing in front of the neon street sign with the caption I still want to kiss you. And yeah, that moment was like taking the red pill. lol   I was like, oh come ON. Wake up!  Like, what more do you need to see to be convinced, a photo of them kissing? Oh - wait…

As for a theory about how it all started, Storyshark’s Trying To Find A World That’s Been and Gone is a theory in itself.  Honestly, that fic  and every word of it is the very definition of plausible. My own pet theory is a bit too long for this post so I might post it later.  But basically, as with Storyshark’s fic, I think they probably experimented, or had a type of fling together before they were famous. Then fame happened.  Then it call got rather complicated.  As to why it started? Possibly they were drawn to each other as a source of comfort growing up in a dysfunctional and abusive household where trust was not in abundance, and they found themselves turning to one another for that reassurance? Sadly, looks like trust was and still is a real issue for them.

Honestly I have to say I think the most attractive quality Darcy has is his loyalty. Like I know his friends say that's one of his best qualities as well and they always mention his loyalty to Bingley but you can clearly see his loyalty to Elizabeth early on too. Even when he's trying to repress how strongly he feels for her and he's simply "admiring her" like when she visits Jane at Bingley's. Caroline constantly puts her down and tries to make her look bad to Darcy. Liz arrives after walking 3 miles and Caroline is like ew Darcy do you see how sweaty and dirty and nasty she is? They see her taking her walks and she's sarcastically like do you think any painter could do her eyes justice lol. Friday, February 23rd, 2024!

7:55am: I slept for so long and woke up with no alarms this morning :) feels amazing. Still had a huge orange chunk come out of my nose but it's less than before, I just don't know when it will stop lol (I literally had to get up while writing this and do another one). Last night I had to go to sleep unexpectedly early bc I had a milkshake and it made me so bloated omg. I think I'm officially at that age where I really can't just be eating anything 😂 of course I can bc I'm an independent woman 💅 but not without The Consequences. Also I just popped my BC in and I'm ready for my period to stop and also for the stomach issues to stop omg it's been rough out here. It really feels like spring break should be today, but the pros to it being next week are that it's one week closer to the end, I won't be on my period at all, and hopefully it will be warmer!! I'm tired of this cold ass weather!!

I feel good today besides the random brain thoughts that I don't particularly want. I need to figure out how to replace those thoughts with ones I do what. This journaling, as much ranting as it is, definitely helps me I guess regulate my runaway thoughts. I really want to take a post poop nap though those are the best so ttyl lmao.

10:47am: omg I continued to sleep until 9:50am I don't know how to explain to people how much sleep I really feel like I need. Idk it's probably depression but that's literally ok I'm just doing what I can. I still miss him and that's ok too. I don't really miss him I literally miss just having someone to talk to. But he fucked up and it's his loss, not mine. He lost a genuine person, and I lost a liar who cheats and steals money and nothing he does is genuine, it's all fake to get people to like him so he can use their shit for all it's worth. What's crazy is he's so fake he doesn't even care about these cats after he kept saying he misses them oh boohoo me it's like losing two kids, then blocks me so he'll effectively never fucking see them again. He's literally so fake AF. I take pride knowing I'm not a fake ass bitch and I don't lie to people. Doesn't matter if people believe me or not because I know I'm not lying about anything. If you think I'm lying, you just have something else going on in your life that you have to deal with clearly. This image of them getting on the bike together I think will stay with me for a while, I guess visuals are really my downfall. I know I'm the bigger person bc I literally said yeah y'all are cute together before he stopped speaking to me and everything was chill. It was chill because I made it chill. I made this entire friendship what it was and I'm really convinced of it now tbh. I don't like him, I like me and how I act towards him 😂 I like nice people, aka myself lmao.

Oh beckett sharing her story!

We were supposed to go to dinner together - my mom, my Dad, and I, and she was gonna meet us at the restaurant, but she never showed. Two hours later, we went home, and there was a detective waiting for us. Detective Raglin. They found her body. She had been stabbed. She still had her money and purse and jewelry. And it wasn't a sexual assault, either. They attributed it to gang violence. Random wayward event. So, just like in Melanie's case, they couldn't think outside the box. So, they just tries to package it up nicely. And the killer was never caught.

CASTLE Why do you wear the watch?

BECKETT My Dad took her death hard. He's sober now. Five years. So, this is for the life that I saved. And...

[She reaches in her shirt and pulls out the necklace with the ring on it.]

The second cree word of this post: Wapaki. It means "tomorrow" but cree words are long. It means more like "if the sun rises tomorrow" & it implies that we have FAITH that the sun will rise tomorrow, we can't actually tell the future. We are just doing what we can. If, if the sun rises tomorrow.

[The name on the file: Johanna Beckett. Castle takes a seat at a table and turns on the desk light as Esposito leaves, dousing the overheads. Lit by the light of the lamp, Castle looks down at the case file. He takes a breath, and opens it.]

The idea that flatmate!gf is using Matty for fame circulates on Twitter in like 2015. She decides to reply (uncharacteristically) with a photo of her with the boys in 2006 like ‘oh yeah?’

omg yeah so like i think you've always had like a weird little cult following of people from like the myspace days of the band - the early fans kept clocking you at gigs and noticing you were close to the boys and matty in particular obv - and they keep showing support for you as the band gets bigger; they get proper excited getting pics with you when they see you, and as much as it's kinda crazy everyone's pretty chill about it so you go along with it all (and i suppose it must be nice to recognise people from back in the day!). but, alas, there's always somecunt on twitter determined to be a hater - they quote a pic that a fan has posted with you and say some shit like "look at her fucking posing for a pic lol she's only with matty for fame she clearly doesn't care about him. like where did she even come from? bitch". mind you, this is 2015, so you and matty haven't been an official couple for very long at all. anyway, the fans start to jump to your defence and matty is genuinely about to intervene (he's fucking SEETHING when he sees it), but you're like "don't worry baby i've got this"; given that you're literally in the process of becoming a lawyer, i don't think you'd actually reply as such in case it proved detrimental to you getting a job in future (employers checking socials and whatnot), but you just so happen to post a really cute pic from an early studio session the boys had not long after you first met them, where you and matty are laughing together and hugging in the background, captioned like "years later and nothing's changed lol". matty retweets it like "fancied her back then and all", the fans go nuts over how cute it is, and the hater deactivates lmao <3

Rating Exorcisms and Spells on Supernatural as if I am Grading Them on Their Latin

Basically, this is just a review of some Latin incantations on the show.

Disclaimer: Latin is a hard language. I’ve been studying it for 6 years and I am by no means an expert, so take everything I say with a grain of salt. That being said I do have a background in Latin and Linguistics so I do have a good idea of how the language works. I’ll include the Latin, my translation, and then my opinion on each incantation.

Here’s some general background information about the structure of Latin for any of those who are interested:

Latin typically is a Subject-Object-Verb language (as opposed to English which is a SVO language) but it does have free word order so the words can be rearranged into any order

Nouns and Adjectives decline in terms of case, number, and gender (aka each noun/adjective has 10* forms)

Verbs are conjugated with person, number, tense, and mood (aka each verb has 120+* forms)

word choice is important because of the relatively limited lexicon so many words hold several meanings that depend on context

1. Shortened Exorcism

"Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica, ergo draco maledicte, ut ecclesiam tuam secura, tibi facias libertate servire, te rogamus, audi nos!"

We exorcize you, all foul spirits, all satanic powers, all hellish enemy attacks, all legions, all congregations and devilish sects, therefore the evil serpent, in order to make you serve liberty in your secure church, we ask you, hear us!

The classic (shortened) exorcism that appears a few times throughout the show. Generally a good message for an exorcism it makes sense. Technically all of ‘omnis... diabolica’  should all be in the accusative case (not the nominative) to agree with te ‘you’, and the number (sg/pl) is inconsistent so a few points off. Good use of the vocative for draco maledicte, though! The purpose clause at the end of the exorcism is a little clunky, but they did use the proper ut + subjunctive structure. Extra point for being a legitimate exorcism but minus a point for being Medieval Latin bc I’m a hater.

2. Rowena’s Curses in 10x16

Torture and a violent death, torturing

Now this first one just doesn’t quite make sense: it is not a complete sentence so I am confused by the use of the participle at the end and it’s case. It does seem to be effective though, Olivette sure is getting tortured.

I like this one! For some reason all captions/scripts write iter sine as one word not sure why? Only thing I would change is use nihil for ‘nothing’ instead of nullum (lit. ‘no things’). (Could also put est at the end of the sentence but that’s more of a style choice.) Not sure how this incantation turns someone into a hamster specifically but a solid curse nonetheless!

3. Belphegor’s Spell

Spirits of hell, souls having risen from the infernal pit i confine you within the boundaries

Solid translation for someone who is not familiar with the language. Since hell is singular, inferorum should instead be inferni. I would have either used an ablative absolute (which we don’t have in English) or a relative clause in the first part making it animi inferorum spirito [ex] abysso surrecti ‘sptirits of hell, having been risen from the pit…’ or animi infernorum cui spiritus abyssi surrecti ‘spirtis of hell whose souls have been raised from the pit’. Also I would use a different verb than defigo, maybe something more like coherceo/conpesco.

4. Dean Summoning Death

I call upon you now, Death.  I enchant you in my power, now and forever.

Pretty baller summoning spell if you ask me. Personally, it added to the experience to know what exactly Dean was doing before the spell worked. Since this is a direct invocation of Death, Mortem should be in the vocative (Mors). Nice use of the idiomatic in aeternum for ‘forever’.

5. Sam’s Warding Spell

Bind together these powerful warding sigils. Renew them. Strengthen them. Save us all.

This actually reads like real Latin; Latin looooooves using pronouns (has, eas). It’s all in the imperative (mood used for commands): sounds good, very direct. Extra points for being the first correct classical pronunciation of the Latin <v> in the whole show (<v> makes a /w/ sound in Latin)! Excellent Job Samwitch! (apparently Jared took Latin in high school so good job buddy)

“What are we doing out here?” You whisper to Joshua, trying to hide your face in the hood of your sweatshirt. He shrugs, skip in his step as he walks next to you.

“Walking,” is what he responds with, and you want to kill him.

To be honest, you aren’t even sure how you got out here with him. You aren’t sure how he’s gotten you to do anything, but since that first… encounter (your downfall, if you’re being honest) Joshua has made it very difficult to say no. You didn’t expect anything to come from this – you don’t know much about idols’ dating lives, but you know everything is best kept under wraps – but the morning after the first time Joshua asked for your number, and then he kept texting you…

(Normally you shrug it off, ghost them if they’re a little too persistent. But Joshua is just the right amount of charming and sweet and devious all at once, and you’re weak.)

It’s not like tonight is the first time you’ve ever done something with him. A couple weeks ago he came over to your apartment, take-out in hand. A few days after that he sent you a cheeky message asking for your fashion advice (and you know it’s your job, but still. You do not need to freak out over the way he was definitely flexing his arms in the mirror selcas he sent, trying to show you two different shirts he was considering for the day). You’ve called multiple times by now, and sometimes he’ll sit with you in your office while you work if he finishes his schedule early.

You’ve just… never been out with him. For good reason.

“What if someone sees us?” You hiss at him, tugging on his sleeve quickly. He stops and you turn him around, fussing about his hair. You try your best to tuck it into his cap, black strands sticking out everywhere.

“No one’s gonna see us,” Joshua says, holding your wrist to stop your micromanaging. You huff, making the tiniest mental note of how easily his hand wraps around your wrist. “It’s late, we’re fine.”

He lets go of your arm and starts walking again, and you have no choice but to follow him, catching up to his long stride. “You say that now, but soon enough Dispatch pictures are gonna come out and the caption is gonna be SEVENTEEN’s Joshua spotted on a late night date with mystery person!”

Joshua laughs, too loud for your comfort but too pretty for you to tell him to stop. Then he shrugs, hand brushing yours between the two of you. “I’m pretty sure both of us are old enough to date without needing permission.”

And he’s right, but still. You’re hesitant for so many reasons. Both of you are always so busy, and Joshua is famous, and the last relationship you had ended… bad. You’ve grown so comfortable with Joshua but you’ve grown comfortable in private, because neither of you deserve all the anxiety and stress.

You want it, though. You want Joshua. You want the title, and the confidence, and everything.

“Are we?” you ask, casting a gentle glance towards him. You can hear the Han River lap gently at the shore. “Dating?”

You feel a little embarrassed about asking like this instead of just being an adult and bringing it up literally any other time, but then again, maybe now is as good a time as any. The two of you walk slowly past a streetlight and it boldens your shadows, side by side.

“Do you want to be?” Joshua asks in return. You purse your lips.

“I asked you first.”

He snorts at you and you roll your eyes, but smile just the same. He stops the two of you on the walkway and tugs you (gentle, tender) to him so you’re face to face, hands clasped together in between your bodies. Your heart beats a little faster.

“I like you,” is what Joshua says, and when you meet his eyes they’re shining. “I want to do whatever you want to do.”

You try to ignore the absolute fire on your face, flushed like a high schooler at his confession. Crickets sing around you and the world is warm and Joshua is brighter than any stars you could hope to see under Seoul’s city lights. Words don’t find you.

“I like you too,” you say, because it sounds like enough. You hope he can’t see how flustered you are, hope the distant streetlight and your hood hides your embarrassment.

Joshua nods, smiles. “I know,” he says. You slap his hands away from yours and he laughs, refusing to let go of you, fingers intertwined tightly. He tugs you closer, closer. You don’t fight it. “Seriously, though. Whatever you’re comfortable with.”

You hum. “It’ll probably be hard, huh.”

“It won’t be easy,” Joshua confirms, scrunching his nose. You run your thumb over the back of his hand. “But I trust you. We can try, at least.”

It’s not blind optimism, and you’re grateful. You wonder why you spent so long thinking about it when he makes it seem so easy, and you trust him, too. Your heart practically sighs in your chest, and it’s not your fault you can’t hold yourself back from kissing him.

(Not this time, at least.)

Joshua smiles against your lips, one of his hands cupping the side of your face. It’s your own little world, filled with twinkling stars and the smell of summer air. He is warm and real and worth the risk, and you’re starting to think that maybe you are, too.
