Woke up this morning and literally leapt from bed, head back and spine arched gracefully with toes perfectly pointed, tore the door off its hinges, bit off a big chunk of crisp morning air and swallowed it whole while golden sunshine slapped me around the head a little and birds screamed horribly gorgeous melodies while the animals were let down carefully from the sky on ropes to stock this beastly buffet we all bloat upon...

Every time there is a new member of team prime, Smokesceen immediately takes them under his wing so they won't go through the same bs that he went through with all the scowling like he actually takes the time to sit down and teach them the rules of earth instead of just sending them out without knowing the full extent of proper protocol or earth rules. So really interesting thing about the thing of the Earth Queen eating Bosco. Apparently bear paw soup is like a pretty expensive and very illegal thing irl.
Genuine trigger warning for animal abuse:
Bear paw soup can go for up to 1000 dollars per bowl. Most bears used as 'ingredients' are born in special farms.
The whole symbolism of the act is that eating a bear's paw is meant to transfer its virility and strength into you
The bears paws are usually chopped off while the bear is still alive, and often in front of the client. Then the bear, still alive, gets beaten with steel poles and lowered into a fire and cooked alive. The idea is that the bear's adenaline will make the meat more tender.
Front paws are valued as more tender, particularly the front left one, since apparently it's the one the bear licks more often.
Anyway, I wonder if thia tradition is what gave the idea of the Earth Queen eating Bosco.

Okay so once again... I'm gonna be Like That about Cassini misinformation bc it's one of the few topics I can't ignore. I mean all of these comments as purely educational and not at all judgemental I promise! Like I love seeing people get into Space Stuff, I just think the REAL science and facts make Cassini even COOLER, y'know?
The video linked above ARE radio waves detected by Cassini. HOWEVER the video linked above was posted to YouTube 7 whole years before Cassini's Grand Finale
Cassini was not shot THROUGH Saturn, it was sent into the upper atmosphere of Saturn were it was completely and utterly destroyed between the heat of the gas giant and the turbulent conditions
Onto my next point, not a single piece of equipment has been "recovered" from Cassini bc, again, there's literally nothing left of it, especially seven years later, and also how would we "recover" equipment that far away? Humans can't get there and no missions have been launched to collect anything of the sort
Leading into my final point that's still semi-related, the entire point of crashing Cassini into the upper atmosphere of Saturn was so there would be NOTHING left of it. Typically with probes that far away, we would just... Let them die and leave them to float around in space until they crash land elsewhere. There's really nothing else TO be done. However, at least two (I think) of Saturn's moons can potentially have life on them, or they stand a good chance to be able to support life, and if Cassini just... Floated around, there was a non-zero chance that it would crash on one of these moons and potentially contaminate the ecosystem with human and earth cooties. This would be bad for two reasons: earth cooties includes earth bacteria and disease which could destroy life on other planets or moons, but also, if an object from earth crashed on a planet or moon that we deemed merely CAPABALE of sustaining life, we wouldn't be able to actually tell if any life found there after that point was LEGITIMATELY THERE BEFORE
Now, I do want to say that we ARE still getting "new", groundbreaking images and data from Cassini. However, this is not because we've "recovered" any of the equipment, it's a testament to just HOW MUCH DATA that beautiful probe collected during its almost 20-year mission. Cassini collected SO MUCH DATA during its Grand Finale alone that we're still analyzing that data ALONE seven years after its mission ended.
So, again, Cassini detected these radio waves in just a little more than a decade into its mission, and that video was posted in 2010, seven years before the Grand Finale. None of ANY of the new data we've been collecting from Cassini has been from recovered equipment. Cassini was completely obliterated as was the plan and point of the Grand Finale.

NASA Data Sonification: Black Hole Remix
In this sonification of Perseus. the sound waves astronomers previously identified were extracted and made audible for the first time. The sound waves were extracted outward from the center. (source)
#Yes saturn is a gas giant and TECHNICALLY it isn't solid#No you cannot fall through it and nothing we have manufactured on earth can withstand the conditions#Inside a gas giant#And even if we did have those we would not ever use expensive shit like that on a spacecraft we don't intend on bringing back to earh#Saturn ain't 'solid' strictly speaking but she's still DENSE AF
